Magicalia Storm of Chaos, is book 3 of this children’s unputdownable fantasy series full of magical creatures.
I thought this was hilarious, and I hear the children’s laughter reading the first page! Lubberwharls sometimes stink like three-day-old used underpants.
Lubberwharls are unique species of magicore that use odours to communicate.
Magicalia is the best fantasy journey into a world of incredible creatures! And now I’m excited to see another book in the series is being released soon!

This has been sitting on my shelf for a little while now and it finally whispered at me to read it. And let me tell you, I had a wonderful time. This is magical world storytelling at its finest! I love the magicores and the characters so much; Riddlejax is a proper menace to this world but he’s a delicious bad guy! Excited for the 4th book now!

Afsindig sjovt at indlæse, det er altid en fornøjelse at læse Magicalia på lydbog. Universet er meget fabulerende og opfindsomt , dramaet er godt spændt op, uden at være for uhyggeligt til aldersgruppen.

STORM OF CHAOS is a third instalment that introduces new creatures and is building towards the series finale.
While there are some creatures returning from previous books, most are all-new inventions. I love how inventive they are, and how they interact with emotions. The awloss (the grief monster) was my favourite, particularly its way of communicating with others. The creatures unleased on the world made for good action sequences as they can shrink and grow objects. I continue to love the illustrations of creatures at the start of each chapter as they are such strange shapes that it really helps to have the visualisation.
This is a globe-trotting adventure, taking Bitsy and co. from London to underwater to Borneo and beyond. There's all sorts of magic to help them get around. I liked the treasure hunt/quest aspect of trying to find these powerful creatures before Riddlejax and how it kept the pacing going.
There is also the mystery of who is helping the villain in this book. There's plenty of suspicion (I did think it was someone else, who ends up not being considered as a suspect at all!) The intimacy of having someone in the small cast be a traitor helps the series ramp up toward the big finale (next book) by making the consequences of Riddlejax feel more immediate, and limit those Bitsy and co. can rely on.
There's one book left in this series coming next year, and I'm looking forward to seeing Riddlejax's ultimate plan (and maybe identity?) revealed!
