At least that’s what Bebe thinks until Cool forgets his cool demeanor and pursue the pretty stud he can’t get enough of. With Bebe in his sights Cool does everything in his power to make her his girl. Will this unusual love survive or will it be doomed from the start?
Listen!!! This was an unexpected gem 💎 I loved how Cool loved his TD.
Was some of this story problematic? Absolutely. But so are half the people in my friend group 😏 And because I’m a little toxic, it just made me fall harder for Cool & Bebe.
Such an unexpected love story, but sooo much fun from start to finish. 5 stars, easy! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I had never read this author before, and I was also intrigued by the synopsis of this story. Let me tell you that it didn’t disappoint!! Cortez “Cool” was dating Megan and even entertaining Ginger, and he was a cool guy. Once he met Belinda “Bebe” aka TD lol, he was everything BUT cool! This love story was funny, full of drama, and packed with 'oh my goodness' moments from both Cool and Bebe! The HEA was super sweet, and I hope a story eventually gets written for cousin Lucky and Xoey, as there were little bread crumbs on their situation that have me intrigued! Overall, a fun, funny, and drama-filled read that I definitely recommend!
When I can get lost in a character driven book that still has an amazing plot, I am in good company. This is my first Ni'ssan book but it won't be my last. I will state if you tend to lean toward the side of morality, please note this book is considered problematic and is very likely not for you. Keepin' It Cool is a very heavy story cloaked in humor and drama. Cool and his TD are hilarious MC and after meeting through...precarious circumstances, we get to embark on a tumultuous but fun romance with them. There are parts of this book that involve a suspension of reality, which works because it is fiction. I love the twists and turns and the creation of this world is one of my favorite parts of this book. I can't wait to read more from her.
Unique storyline! The synopsis didn’t even allow me to put this in TBR purgatory The banter- these two clowned each other so much, I loved it! The chemistry- to me, uniquely off the chart. The spice- spicy scenes throughout that indeed had the 🥵🥵🥵 in them… Some sharing and multi player moments 🫣😏🙃 Pacing and plot were amazing. It’s over 250 pages but everything fit perfectly for me. The drama (was a lot) but it fit the characters and their story well.

Now, let’s code switch the review tone:
Putting on my glasses for a more professional approach 🤓🤓🤓 ⬇️ This book was really well written.
The pacing and drama matched well together. The author did an amazing job interjecting drama at a steady pace while still feeling like a fast paced book.
There are some tropes that some people may not like but I don’t like spoilers so….
However, I loved them! ———
“pen game 🔏✅” moment:
- The premise alone.
I’m certain this is not the first book written with this premise but it’s unique enough that I haven’t run across it too often.
The FMC’s sexuality or sexual fluidity is such a strong undercurrent in this story.
However, it’s also a really good love story, with amazing chemistry, and great banter.
The way all of that was harmoniously writing is amazing!
“pen game 🔏✅” moment:
- It was lighthearted but did address a lot of heavy topics!
The way the author introduces and unveils our FMC was flawless.
It showed how childhood insecurities can really shape our lives as adults especially when unresolved… How our adult idiosyncrasies and desires are truly shaped from childhood events (whether good or bad).
The obligation the FMC felt towards her brother was very relatable for many women who feel the burden of being the family’s “savior”.
All of this was flawlessly woven into the story in such a way that didn’t take away from the lightheartedness.

Thoroughly enjoyed and would definitely recommend this book.
I will be diving into this author’s catalog soon because this was a well written good time!
This was bad. Not the writing, but the choices. The FMC has no spine and devotes herself to a brother who clearly hates her. The MMC? Misogynistic, messy, and calling her “Tiny Dyke” like that’s cute. He’s sleeping around, barely using condoms, but still controlling? Yet he’s a cool unbothered guy 😒😒
And the basis for the alleged romantic connection (SEX) is built on financial coercion. While the MMC is not directly responsible for it he received the most benefit of that dynamic. This was not sexy, raunchy or even remotely pleasing to read that’s just gross. Shallow, ignorant and not what I expected AT ALL
As soon as I read the synopsis, I thought three things: 1. Oh this sounds problematic af 2. I wonder if it’s going to be like “Chasing Amy” (the movie) 3. I gotta read this
I’ve liked the other Ni’ssan books that I’ve read so I was nervous that this book was going to make me not want to read anything else by her. Given the synopsis, the storyline could’ve easily gone the full-on homophobic route with Cool trying to “turn Bebe out” or whatever, but Ni’ssan didn’t do that.
Now, there are a few characters in “Keepin’ It Cool” who are homophobic and used a gay slur for lesbian all willy-nilly but, again, the overall tone of the book wasn’t homophobic. It was about two people who fell in love without trying and one of them trying to figure out their sexuality.
(Side note: When Cool finally revealed what TD meant, I can’t even lie. I laughed 😂)
Also if you’ve seen “Chasing Amy”, this book is not that. At a young age, Bebe realized she was attracted to men and women but chose to only date women because a dude she had a crush on called her an “ugly [insert slur for lesbian]”. After that, Bebe was essentially like “fuck men” and started dressing more masculine and dating women exclusively. Pretty much Bebe was bi but didn’t want to acknowledge it.
Cool and Bebe together were cute. I liked how sprung Cool was over Bebe; however, I didn’t like that Cool would refer to Bebe as “his bitch”. (If you’re wondering, Cool is the typical alpha MMC in an urban romance so he’s pretty problematic.) I was also thoroughly entertained by Cool and Bebe. Those two didn’t play behind one another and would whoop anybody’s ass if needed.
Cool’s nickname shoulda been Psycho or some shit. He was chill about his approach to situations but this 🥷🏾 was off his rocker for real. He consistently lost his shit and would keep a calm demeanor…unless someone disrespected Bebe or was Wacko. Then all bets were off. And Bebe was disrespected A LOT.
There was a whole lotta, whole lotta going on within the pages of “Keepin’ It Cool”. I wasn’t ever bored while reading it. I don’t want to give anything away but I’ll just say whenever Cool and Bebe would leave their little bubble, some shit was going down.
Okay... Was this is a bit all over the place? Yes. Did I enjoy it thoroughly? Yes LOL.
I don't know what I expected exactly but Bebe and Cool were the couple I didn't know I needed to read about. I loved everything about Cool's demeanor and the way he handled himself and his business. He didn't play and he definitely didn't play about Bebe.
Ginger and Monique wrecked my nerves the entire book. So shiesty and so jealous, but Cool's determination to not let them come between him and his T.D. was so cute and fun to read. The inclusion of Donny's disloyalty added a layer to the book that I enjoyed but hated at the same time. I needed Bebe to find a backbone 20 chapters before the book ended and I wanted to strangle her every time she gave into her good heart. Cool taught her about herself, helped her find herself, and loved her all at the same time. What I thought would just be a freaky frog session turned love story was actually a coming-of-age story for Bebe.
Ni'ssan's writing and storytelling is top tier and immediately sent me on a search through her catalog. Not only was it well told but funny and emotionally striking. I was almost hoping we got a part II to Bebe and Cool's love story. 4.5/5 stars.
Keepin’ it Cool was a solid read. I loved how Cool was all about Bebe once he had a taste, but I didn’t care for the back-and-forth with her, Megan, and Ginger while he tried to figure out his feelings. I couldn’t stand those two women—nothing good ever came out of their mouths in any interaction. I was glad Cool kept his calm and didn’t let their mess come between him and Bebe. I also appreciated that Bebe stood strong on not immediately forgiving Cool for his slip-up with his baby mama, though I wish she had held her brother to the same standard since he did her so dirty. The interactions between Cool and Bebe were enjoyable, but I would have liked more scenes of them actually dating instead of so much drama and sex. Overall, it was a 3-star read for me.
I love how cool is over protective over Bebe and let her no how he felt from the jump at her she really did tried calling him from jail to tell him she was pregnant but the baby mama was acting like her and cool had just had sex she was doing anything in her power to break Bebe and cool up.. but you no cool wasn’t going for that.. and then there’s Megan trying to pass cool and Bebe baby as her own she need mental help frfr I love Riley and Bebe friendship they got real close and just think they met in jail never can find good friends like that any more most friends will betray you in a minute and backstab you in a heartbeat I wish there were a part two I need more of this story I really love and enjoyed this book
First book by this author and I am impressed. Bebe started off liking girls but found herself having a threesome to help her brother get out of jail. Why the guy ended up falling in love with her. I like the storyline it was definitely something different. Cool didn’t play about Bebe. I hate how she got screwed over by her brother. I kind of felt like Bebe was a little slow when it came to her brother. I will be checking out some more books from this author.
Cool x Bebe … who would’ve known Cool would fall for TD lol he got one taste and it was all she wrote
Cool was anything but cool when it came to Bebe honey. He was the definition of an unhinged, crash out lol The two of them had a wiiiild journey but it was a cool story
When I say Bebe was pissing me off about that damn brother of hers! My goodness. How many times does some one have to wrong you before you get the picture girl?!?? In the end it all worked out but ooooh she irked me, baby where is yo spine?!!
What’s going on with Lucky and Xoey though 🤔
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Yeah, I liked this real bad. I didnt not expect the story line to flow and mesh the way it did. But im kina sad my peoples story is over. Cool was unhinged af, I love my fictional MMC's to be a lil special but not special to the point they trigger you lol. Im glad my girl BeBe found and created her a forever family. And everybody else got what they deserved. Now on to Xoey and Lucky ? Do we get a book about them!? Cause I think we needs 😁
I started out not thinking it would end up like this but sooooo glad that it did…. She deserved it and he needed even if he didn’t think k he did. I was screaming at Bebe for a min like girrrllll don’t do it and she didn’t it anyways. I was like ok them some consequences you gonna have to deal with and handle cause Cool abt to act a damn fool!!!🤣🤣🤣 Loved it sis. Keep writing and I’ll keep reading!!!
Cool & Bebe took us through there. This is an example of “how you say you don’t like men if you never been with one?” Cool came in & changed her WHOLE life. Megan & Ginger were the worst but Ginger was wayyyyy worst! Bebe’s stubbornness made me want to smack her but I loved her need to be independent to maintain autonomy. Riley was a great friend & Lucky and Wacko was get side characters!
I enjoyed this book so much. This was easily one of the best books I have read this year. I loved me some Cool and TD 😂😂. They went through so much , and still made it through! I am about to dive into her catalog cuz this one right here was fye.. definitely gonna read this book a couple of times.
This was my very first time reading anything by this author and it definitely won’t be my last . Cortez aka Cool was everything and more but wasn’t anything about him cool he was always on go especially behind Bebe aka TD lol I honestly enjoyed this read.10/10 highly recommend
I truly enjoyed the storyline. Bebe pissed me off because she never had a backbone like she literally had no breaking point. Girl stand up! The spice level was definitely at least a four out of five. It gave a peek into the upcoming stories and I would totally recommend this book.
I appreciated that this was a unique storyline. I loved how Cool fell for Bebe and vice versa. I was a bit annoyed by Bebe’s naivety in certain aspects, and her letting her brother and Shavon play in her face. I gave it three stars because it started to drag in the end with Bebe’s immaturity. Overall I would recommend it.
Keepin’ it (cooling)…. cause Cool & Bebe perfect match!
I’m so sad , I didn’t want this to end . I actually said nooooo out loud ! Ugh I had a time omg!! Ni’ssan books always so entertaining and the characters are so intriguing. I love love , Cool & Bebe . It’s going to be a lil messy but omg it’s so worth it. So good . Definitely think you should add and read!!!
This was a wild ride full of humor and drama. It was such a different start to a romance, and I was entertained from the first page. Cool knew he wanted Bebe confused and all, and he was determined to have her. Once he did get her, Cool and Bebe were a trip, but they were ten toes down about each other.
What would you do if you caught your girl cheating on you? This book follows the MMC as he explores his options after catching his girl cheating with a T.D. Great little love story.
This was my first story by Ni’ssan and I’ll probably explore her catalog. I didn’t think I’d like little Bebe that much with the way the story started but I enjoyed it. And it was a pretty funny story, she was a bit naive but I am glad she came into her own with her cool.
Wow I couldn’t put this book down. The sex scenes were amazing. Cool is definitely my book bae. I love him and Bebe. The chemistry was fire. I wish it were more books.
Book tok really has some excellent book suggestions but by far this was one of the best. Cool really had me laughing out loud at his unhinged behavior. Felt like there was a little more to tell regarding brother and boss but street justice was satisfying…
Cool was a different type of nigga, I had my likes and dislikes with him, Megan thought she was going to get her way and shit backfired on her ass. The baby mama was stupid as hell, you can't trap a man. Bebe was something else
Good luck in your craft. I'm not a fan of the stupid girl troupe. Cause how u let ur so-called brother use you 700 times and talk to you like shit 9 million times, and you still stop everything to go help him and your ex-girlfriend.
This deserves nothing but 5 stars. Thanks to tik tok I found out about this book and I really enjoyed it. I love the way Cool really held down Bebe regardless of what happened and the way he loved his kids. Definitely recommend.❤️
Whew chile the ghetto! But in the best way! This book was so messy and chaotic but somehow chill and a good time at the same time. I enjoyed Cool and BeBe’s story. Cool had me stressed and looking at him sideways for a minute but redeemed himself.
New author to me. Whew honey!!!!! The plots were twisting!!! I have a love/hate relationship with Bebe and Cool. Both of them were getting on my nerves. Bebe just couldn’t stand on business with anybody. And Cool was so frustratingly charming. Ugh just read it 🙄😏.
