Paperback book launches December 4, 2025 In the wake of a storm, a cat, a robot, and a resourceful team of animals discover what it truly means to build and belong—together.
The storm took everything from Daisy Jo (DJ), her home, her human, and her sense of safety. But in the shattered quiet of northwest Florida, this skittish cat discovers something unexpected—her true calling.
With the help of a learning AI robot, DJ lets go of fear and isolation and steps into something far greater, a mission to rebuild what was lost. Alongside a clever crew of animals and her playful, jokester sister, DJ learns that real leadership isn’t about going it alone. It’s about braving the storm, standing shoulder to shoulder with others, and leading with heart.
This is a story about healing, teamwork, and discovering that no one is meant to live out their purpose by themselves. Perfect for readers who believe even the smallest heart can rise to do extraordinary things—especially during life’s storms.

DJ and the Robot is a wonderful book! My kids (ages 6 and 8) absolutely loved it — it became our bedtime story for many weeks. They were even asked at school who their favorite character was, and both immediately said “DJ!” The story kept them excited night after night, and we can’t wait to read the next book in the series!
I received an advance reader copy of this book and am sharing my honest opinion. Honestly, DJ is a cat I would love to have as a companion. I mean, who wouldn't want to have a cat that can learn how to use printers and helicopters and a robot. This adventure took me by surprise. It is short with very short chapters and to the point. It has a fresh setting that's hardly used (Florida) and as a Florida native myself, the hurricane and evacuation scenarios ring very true. As the story progresses you see DJ forming a special bond with the robot and making friends along the way that help remind DJ that you can't do everything by yourself. The strength of community and friendship and teamwork is what makes us persevere and not give up in the end. All of these themes are conveyed here with emotional depth for both adults and kids alike to enjoy the story. I obviously loved the characters of DJ and the robot, but a standout character for me was Scout the chameleon. He was just full of energy and positivity all around. Also, I love reptiles so... there's that haha. I would totally recommend this book to readers who love themes of perseverance, friendship and teamwork. Can't wait for the second part to see what other adventures await the gang. 5/5
