I really enjoyed what we got of the main story in this volume. Kunagi and Karoun have left Wendelstein and are journeying to find the mysterious cat produce factory in Kunagi's memories. They arrive at a strange village, which gets spookier and more mysterious the longer the duo stays. It was actually pretty eerie, definitely feels like a cat worshipping cult, and I get the feeling Kunagi and Karoun are going to be the next sacrifices... I was kind of disappointed to find that the main story was only about a fifth of the book, but I'm looking forward to more!
The rest of the chapters consist of side stories, which all interconnect. I enjoy seeing other point of views and learning how others are surviving the Nyan-demic. We see familiar faces, such as the two women from the hot springs, as well as some new ones. The catnip dealer was quite funny.
Towards the end we also get the continuation of the strange Squid Games/ Cat Tower story, where a bunch of people have been kidnapped and are forced to play for survival in a series of weird games. I did forget about all this until I started reading (I am more invested in the main story). It's definitely intense, we're now onto the second game, which is a mouse catching game set in a city-like structure (that looks like something out of the game Stray- nice in manga reference!).
Now to impatiently wait until March (?!) to find out more!
