Master artist Jon Rafter can restore antique paintings back to their original luster with little effort, but he can’t restore his wife Annie’s happiness after she suffers a late-term miscarriage. Living in a refurbished plantation house they converted into a bed and breakfast, the Rafters slowly drift apart until treasure hunters book every room in the house in a quest to find a legendary stash of gold coins. Taken prisoner and locked away in the attic of their own home, Jon and Annie search in vain for a way out, but instead find a mysterious journal written by the previous homeowner that will help them rekindle their flickering love for each other. But their guests are desperate, and will stop at nothing—including murder—to find the gold. Relying on their faith and past experiences in law enforcement, Jon and Annie have only one chance to escape their house alive. And with these guests, their escape won’t come easy.
“Sometimes what you think is treasure isn’t really treasure at all.” Love this book! Page turning plot and excellent life lessons woven together in a God-honoring way. This book not only provided a well researched and intriguing storyline; it spoke to my life in a big way. Highly recommended!
This is a great Christian story with suspense, love, and danger. I couldn't stop reading until I finished it. This is the second story in this story, and now I want to read the first one to see how Jon and. Annie met.
The Treasure Box is book two of this series and the excitement continues. The hurricane that that raged on throughout book 1 has passed, but now a new storm is brewing. A man obsessed with finding pirate treasure takes desperate measures when he thinks the treasure is hidden in a history filled home. Taking the owners hostage he searches to find his prize, but can he find it before the police move in and stop him. Surrounded in the house he has few options, but his hostages are holding the cops at bay for now. Can he find the treasure, and it so how will he escape?
I thoroughly enjoyed The Treasure Box and can't recommend this series and others by Romang enough. This is the fourth book of his that I have read and I have enjoyed them all. They are all action packed and full of suspense that keeps the pages turning. 5 Stars.
Good doggie, Bad professor and poor Annie, ever the hostage. Having waited awhile before reading this sequel to The Grace Painter, I was not disappointed. This time, however, as I became re-acclimated to the main characters and their histories things were a bit more predictable. I like clean well written Christian novels and I don't even mind a little sermonizing, but sometimes preachy character dialog reads like religious fluff and I long to just advance the plot. You can enjoy this book without having read it's predecessor because the author does a good job of recapping character history as the story unfolds, but I urge you to read The Grace Painter before you tackle The Treasure Box.
I'm so sad! I loved his first book and couldn't wait to read this one. It just seemed like it never found its pace. Too much minutiae and very little climax. It seems like the book attempted to do too many things.
