The Chocolate Series has been an enjoyable series to read. I feel that I know Bri, Gaby and Livi and would love to visit them at their ocean side homes. MOCHA SUNRISE is Livi's story. Livi is a good friend, sometimes to a fault especially to her roommate, Jet. It was frustrating to watch Jet take advantage of Livi and be so mean to her. Gaby and Bri are very frustrated with Livi for allowing Jet to treat her so badly. Ms Carobini does a great job of showing how fine a line it can be to be a good Christian witness to friends without endangering our own situation or getting too involved. Things get sticky before it is over and I wondered how she could possibly overcome everything. But the positive aspect of the story is the relationship that grows between Livi and Caleb. And on another note, it was fun to see Max's story incorporated in Livi's story in an unexpected way. Great reads!
Once again, Julie Carobini has brought us into the lives of three friends - Bri, Gaby and Livi. This time, we get to learn what happens with Livi. She has such real characters. They are not perfect believers, and they are honest about their struggles. She writes in such a way that you get angry with Livi's gullibility while pulling for her to make wiser decisions. In addition, we get to see what happens with Max. I have enjoyed this whole series, and I think this was a great addition to it.
Book 3 of the Chocolate series keeps you reading just like the first two. Miss Carobini is great at not only writing a good love story, but she applies God's word throughout the storyline. I will be reading more of her work.
Mocha Sunrise: The Chocolate Series book 3 by Julie Carobini This book I thoroughly enjoyed just as much or even more than the other two before it! Once again we meet our three friends Bri, Gaby and Livi as well as Doug and Jake, husbands to the first two. Livi is still having troubles with her flat mate. Jet has been asked to move but is staying put, however Livi can’t admit to her friends how she has failed to remove Jet from her home. So many complications arise from not being truthful to her best friends. Also she has a new job at a Christian radio station and apart from a bully at work, is enjoying herself. She has even met a pastor she likes very much. Not being truthful about her druggy housemate brings her life entirely undone. It is a wonderful book though hard at times to face Livi’s troubles she has to deal with. There is a saying ‘we are never given more than we can handle’ and hard as it may seem, help is always available if you seek it out. I bought this book and I’m glad I did. The review is entirely my own.
Livi is learning to navigate life's path for her in amidst the drama created by her roommate and cousin, Jet, the love and friendship of Bri and Gaby, and her career choices. Spontaneity is not her usual style but she responds to the cry for help from Tessa to save a Christian radio station. Her chance meeting with Caleb, a pastor, sets a new relationship alight. Max, a prior love interest, tries to tempt her back into real estate. An engaging story with a lot of interesting characters, action, suspense and opportunities for growth. I enjoy Julie Carobini's writing style immensely.
I really enjoyed this read. Only one thing I found lacking is the recipe for those brownies. Otherwise it was a thoroughly delicious read with enough spice to balance the sweetness of the love. There were nail-biting scenes that left me anxiously wanting to skip to the end and see how things worked out but I stayed firm and read it as written. Great job!
I love this series! The romance is wonderful and the characters are fun. I just enjoy a story that doesn't make me embarrassed because of language or sexual content. This one has neither. It is a lovely story about two people and their struggles with life and finding a person to share life with. Loved it!
One of the big things in this series is the friendship between the three women, yet none of them ever seem willing to share the things that really matter to them with the others. Not much of a friendship in my opinion.
Struggles, dysfunctional people. Caring and loving people. People making huge and unforgettable decisions. Love and acceptance. The root of all is grace and forgiveness. Loved this book and series. You will too
This was an interesting story with some well developed characters. It isn't exactly a book that encourages the Christian reader, but it's clean. There is a good deal of drinking, which I would rather not have in a book.
I found this story refreshing because you could God’s fingerprints all over it. Just to be clear, I’m a sinner saved by Grace. As long as I am willing God will use that mess to draw others to Him. Another great Christian Romance that teaches along the way. Thank you.
Sometimes a girl has to wait for dawn to break ... to see the light. Big-hearted Livi Daniels has close pals, a beachside apartment, and a new job in radio.
As always, Julie didn't disappoint me in this third of the Chocolate Beach series. Living is a young Christian gal with a roommate problem and a growing, new relationship. Things go from bad to worse but she takes on a new job in the midst. Her roommate is getting away with too much and running out of control. What is Livi going to do?? I won't tell..you will just have to read the book!
This was my favorite of the 3 in the chocolate series. I really heard Livi's voice in this one. The only thing that threw me off was the initial switch between POVs (I thought the editor had done a bad job at first because I didn't catch the switch at first) although I really liked that. I do think it could have been done a bit smoother but maybe it's because I read the Kindle version. All in all, this definitely was my favorite of the 3.
