When love is blind... How true these words are. Everyone deserves to find their happiness. The only thing holding an individual back is the strength and courage to pursue it. C.C. Campbell provides the tools to not only discover that strength and courage, but to also enable any and every individual the power they need to show and share that happiness with others. Being an openly gay, 21 year old individual, I must say that "The Stolen Light of WoMen" is a true gift. This book is full of knowledge and strength that will help give an individual, such as myself, the power and insight to share my light and love with others who may be blind to such a beautiful thing. I am not afraid to be who I am and to show the amazing energy and love that I have in this world; and this book, this gift, only reenforces and strengthens that mindset.

C.C. Campbell has helped allow me to utilize the power that I hold deep within me, that power to help others see the light and realize that love is truly blind, you just have to be brave enough to trust yourself to shine and help others see it. I wholeheartedly recommend this book to anyone and everyone no matter what your background or beliefs are. Expand who you are as a person because the moment you decide to stay in a closed mindset, is the day that you stop growing and giving to this world. Let us all shine our light and one day I believe that we can shine brighter than the sun, it starts with you. So please, I encourage you to open your minds and read this book. It will be one of the best things you could possibly do for not only yourself, but for this beautiful world that we all share.

“The Stolen Light of WoMen”, is a book that all parents should read. Not only parents who have a child who is gay, but even those who do not. Why? This read will help you understand and help empower you to be able to teach your own children, while they grow up, of what they might encounter in school and life.

It is one thing to raise your children to treat all people equally, be kind, help others, don’t be a bully etc. But for you as an adult to be made aware and understand what it is to be a part of the gay community, and truly how gifted and special they are....just as your own children; Whether black, white, whatever nationality children might be, this knowledge will help you understand that being gay is also a unique culture, not a curse. That everyone has their own light and everyone deserves happiness. C. C. Campbell provides all the research, tools, and insight in her book. She teaches and reveals to you what accepting really means and beautiful human beings surround us. In an excerpt from C.C. Campbell, “...gay individuals were viewed as gifted and kissed by the spirit world. They believed that a man who could actually live with the energy of a women, or visa versa, was a soul who had come into perfect balance between masculine and feminine energies. These people were gifts to their communities.”

As a mother of a gay son, I knew he was different at a very early age. He carries a special light and is gifted in many ways. People are drawn and flock to him and constantly want to be a part of him. He is an angel, and that is just not me being partial to him. Anyone and everyone who meets him can feel his energy and feel the light within him. Some accept it, and some are jealous of it. Yes, jealous of this young man, whom happens to be gay. Wow, usually people might be a little jealous of the popular kids or big football star, but for people to be jealous of the gay guy who everyone wants a piece of? Imagine that. Well I believe he was “kissed” by the spirit world. To have a little bit of feminine and masculinity, wow, the best of both worlds in the spiritual sense. How lucky is he. How lucky am I?

When my son came out and told me he was bi-sexual/gay, of course I was very accepting of it. The love I feel flows through me as I hope all mothers would feel. I also knew that there are others out there that might not be as accepting if their son or daughter told them they were gay. I felt even although he knew how much I loved and supported him, I think he was a little nervous saying those words to me. An important thing to remember; because this world is still very cruel to the gay community, it is imperative that we tell our children not only how much we love them, but remind them that if they do not make the honor roll, or make the the football team, or want to play any sport at all, or if they don’t make cheerleader, or if they are male and want to be a cheerleader...etc., let them know it is okay. The Stolen Light of WoMen empowers you to teach and share with those who may be narrow minded, the truth and understanding of gays and how they are a part of humanity. Encourage your children to try different things, clubs, volunteer, and especially if they happen to be gay, that it is OKAY. Actually tell them directly to their faces. Why? I believe that if you were to tell them this, they would know that being gay is just as accepted by you as it is not making the team, and that just doing their best is good enough. They want to please you! Be an advocate for them just as you would if they were a special needs or handicapped child. Give these beautiful souls, these small miracles that are conceived because of the love we have within us, and born from our bodies a chance to succeed whether they are born a man or a women, and the fact that they might rather be the other; that we should love all men and women. No matter what they decide, you will love and support them with all your heart and soul.

C.C. Campbell offers a peak though the window and a doorway of opportunity for all of us. I recommend this book to every parent, whether or not you have a child who is gay. Either way you or your children are impacted directly, additionally, you directly impact others. The negative light that is directed towards the LGBT community is a vicious cycle, and the only way to break that cycle and negative light is to access the knowledge that C.C. Campbell provides in her book; along with the tools she offers, and use them to enlighten as well as educate others.

The Stolen Light of WoMen will give you a new path to follow and a different perspective in order to see the light! I encourage you to read this wonderful book.

I had the pleasure of meeting the author when she was on vacation with her husband. We shared a ferry ride and she was mesmerizing - so passionate about her field and helping others! I don't think anyone in the vicinity could help but be drawn in. I adored her and have been anxiously waiting for this book ever since. I was so thrilled to finally see it available on Amazon! I devoured it over Thanksgiving weekend and... all I can say is the wait was TOTALLY WORTH IT.
HOLY COW!
Thanks to my own family background religion has always fascinated me. I've read some of Bart Ehrman's books, but honestly most books about this topic are really, really dry and make your eyes glaze over after page 10. Not this one! I was really surprised to see how much spirituality was blended into all the information, and the author's personal story interwoven throughout kept things lively and poignant. I can't begin to tell you how much of my own life I saw mirrored in her... I think anyone who has had to suffer through family and friends who are super evangelical or religiously hardcore will identify immediately. Things get off to a fast start as you read about how the author's spiritual path took a 180 degree turn after a near death experience. I've read a lot of accounts of these 'heaven is for real' experiences and it was refreshing to see someone who used that experience (and the questions it raised) to actually go searching for what it all meant instead of just trying to make it fit their religious preconceptions - the author was a hardcore Christian by the way.
As the author's questions grew, so did the scope of her journey. I was happy to find that she didn't go down any kind of 'religion is the ultimate evil' kind of thing like you see from writers like Sam Harris or Richard Dawkins. In fact I think she did a really good job of pointing out the good things about the three monotheistic giants of Judaism, Christianity, and even Islam. Ultimately her message is that if you're going to have faith, that's great, but you owe it to yourself and the people you interact with to actually know something about your religion. How did it start? Who wrote the Bible? But especially how should you read these verses that so many believers whip out to try and tell women - and especially gay people - that how they live their lives are wrong?
For me, that part was a big deal. I might not be super religious, but my best friend is gay and I have seen him go through some awful things in his own family just because they're religious and they think the Bible is condoning their hateful actions.
The second part of the book deals with each of those Bible verses against homosexuality so thoroughly and so well I wanted to cry.
I gave a copy for to my GBF, and he took his book to his family gathering over the holiday and showed them plain as day why the way they have read the Bible (and their pastor has fed it to them) is totally WRONG. Wish I could have been the fly on the wall when they started in on him being 'duped by Satan', the author even covered that in the final chapter!
Do I recommend this book?
ABSOLUTELY.
If you're a Biblical history or women's history buff, the book is awesome. But if you've ever had to deal with people judging your life style, pulling out their religious beliefs like some trump card every time you try to talk sense to them, this book is vital. Her insights on the Soul are thought provoking and you will never see your 'Ego' in the same 'Light' (read the book, you'll get the pun). A seriously easy read, packed with useful info but never dry, like the author you might just find your faith finally growing outside of its comfort zone and becoming something free. To quote the author: "I never saw myself as going through a crisis of faith; instead a part of me recognized I was having to undergo a revolution of faith."
I know this book made me see things I'd never seen before (can't ever read about Eve the same way again!). Is it controversial? Yeah, but in a good way. Whether it's spirituality, equality, or gay rights, these are conversations religion (esp. here in America) have ignored for too long. Its up to people like us to help things change and bring faith back to a place that helps the Soul (as the author defines it) grow.
Recommended if you're ready for a 'revolution of faith'!

To say I loved the book is an understatement. Ever since my youth the SOP of religion never worked for me. C.C. Campbell's writing helped me to understand why. The Stolen Light of WoMen is a journey through human history's search for a guiding light. It shows how this quest was polluted by misinterpretation, politics, and the prejudice of cultures down through the ages. C.C. clears through the jungle of misinformation with facts and truths that are universal. It is this type of clear understanding and truth that humanity needs to survive. It takes courage to speak the truth with the hope that the world will listen. I am forever grateful for someone courageous enough to bring into the light the subjugation and brutality towards women and the LGBT community. Only by bringing these into the light can we truly see them for what they are and eradicate them. It is my deepest hope that the world will open it's mind and heart to the divine light and the truth. I can't wait for the next book! Keep them coming C.C., the world is waiting.

I received this book as a first read through giveaways and I couldn't be more enthusiastic about recommending it!
I read the book and thoroughly enjoyed it. It is full of interesting facts, some of which I had already known and some of which I am glad to now understand . I thank CC Campbell for writing this book, as so many of us have no idea the context in which our most accepted knowledge was imparted. For those who wish to reclaim your light or start a new path of understanding I implore you to get a copy of this great read!!

A first glance might make one think that this is just another 'women's' book, but it is not. It is a daring, epic adventure that dives straight at the heart of the matter. And what is that heart? That religion (particularly Christianity) is at a crossroads, threatened to be highjacked by the extremists who hold their Bibles high as an excuse to shame women, revile gays, and threaten excommunication to any who don't tow the line.
The author should know, she admits to having once been one of them. That fact makes the book all that more extraordinary. This book is no call to arms, but it is a massive wake-up call. Every text that has caused the most controversy is looked at intensively, dissecting it and disarming its power by showing point by point how the text has been mistranslated, misinterpreted, and propagated for religio-political reasons by very mortal, very fallible men. It is undeniable that the greatest casualty in this evolution is women.
I can already hear Campbell's eventual detractors: "She's just echoing Bart Ehrman!"
Well, I have read Ehrman, and to be honest even Ehrman swims in safe, shallow waters compared to Campbell. Pulling no punches, Campbell fearlessly addresses the hypocrisy of anyone who would insist that the Bible's infallibility gives them the right to judge others and force Biblically based politics down their throats. Best of all, Campbell has an impressive References section. Anyone who thinks she's just repeating Ehrman will be disappointed to find dozens upon dozens of academic resources that have nothing to do with Mr. Ehrman.
Is Campbell wading into the territory of atheist du jours Sam Harris or Richard Dawkins? Nope!
While she never hesitates to unabashedly spell out the truth, she never falls into tirades about religion. I picked up this book because of wanting to know more about religion and the background of the Bible, but I was so surprised to find a work that embraces spirituality and the quest for spiritual truth. I have seen such topics addressed, but almost never in combination with so much historical information. It is a marriage I have been waiting for for a long, long time. You can read spiritual stuff from Chopra or Myss anytime, but you never hear any real information that justifies replacing your old beliefs. Here in this book is not only the information to strip away outdated beliefs, but spiritual guidance to enter into a clean slate for your Soul, a fresh start to ask yourself who you are, what matters, and (especially for women) who do you want to become in this world? Sensitive, poignant, and so full of pertinent information you will go back and read it again and again just to absorb all its wisdom. Take a chance on it, the only thing you have to lose are beliefs that aren't serving you (or humanity) anyway. Looking forward to more from this promising author!

You would think, by looking at the cover of this book, that it is a novel about women and it is... sort of. It is not a novel. It is not just about women. It is a book you will begin and you will not want to put it aside. So, prepare to spend some time immersed in history, religion, spirituality and humanity! This epic tome is an ADVENTURE! Be transported through myth and mayhem to Plato and Zoroaster, the pantheon of Greek and Roman gods, emperors, Celtic and medieval references and the breadth and depth of humanity.

This wonderful book will help you if you have unanswered questions about the Bible. It is profound, provocative and will tear through dark areas of understanding with grace. C.C. delivers explanation to some of the most difficult questions about the Bible to pull apart corrupted and fetid material and strip it down to the bare bone for clarity. She leads you gently through the morass to the light of a brilliantly discovered new and fresh you! She supports you with anecdotes and gentle persuasion to lift and encourage you to seek the truth and to let go of old beliefs that are keeping you trapped in the perpetual dogma of suffering.

She delivers just what she promises and puts you on a quest for spiritual truth beyond religion! Powerful, evocative, compelling, provocative reading...

I look forward to more from this articulate, passionate and spirited writer!

The Stolen Light of WoMen: A Quest for Spiritual Truth Beyond Religion comes from a mystic who explores the spiritual truths in some of the most controversial Biblical writings, and is recommended for spiritual thinkers looking for a feminist analysis and approach that goes beyond most Biblical examinations.

Through this consideration of a woman's soul and acceptance of spiritual revelations comes an awareness of how Biblical texts have been purposely used to repress women and men alike, and why current religious climates don't necessarily represent the reality of Christian teachings.

From sexual diversity in the ancient world and the trinity of Satan, God, and Man to a unique vision of faith brought about by one who died and returned, The Stolen Light of WoMen is no simple read and offers many concepts which may prove indigestible to those immersed in traditional belief systems.

The oppression of women and the control of their sexuality may be the singular most scandalous story of human history. Presented here from a new perspective, The Stolen Light of WoMen makes for a gripping, critical new vision of women's issues and is quite a different version of Judaic and Christian history.

A really fascinating and thought provoking read - loaded with facts and little known history about the Bible. I knew there was way more to all the controversies about sex, gays, and women, but every chapter just shreds religious arguments against homosexuality, gay marriage, and women's rights and it does it with common sense and proven historical/theological arguments. If you're battling with self-acceptance because of your (or your family's) religious background, or if you're a religious parent struggling to accept a gay child or family member, or if you just want to be more educated, this is an easy to read book loaded with resources. Can't understand the couple one and three star reviews, but then you noticed those reviewers never gave a reason, so I'd chock those up to the controversial nature of this book. Recommended and appreciate the author's openness about her own journey from religion into educated spirituality!
