In a dystopian future, the government is overthrown and the new order protects animal rights with a heavy handed brutality. Consuming meat has become illegal and the agency tasked with enforcing the law is given free reign to do as they see fit. One experienced agent has a life changing encounter that shakes his core and forces him to examine his life while putting him at risk for becoming the target of his own organization.
A well written book about the dangers of complete totalitarianism of thought, feelings, and life. There are many areas that mimic parts of today's world.
Very interesting take on the human mind of this brain-washed, doctrined-fanatic AA agent. They seem to live in a parallel universe, what most people see as wrong they see as justified due to their narrowed capacity to go outside their box (what they’ve been thought) Very little dialogues and a narrative focus on a much more sentiment and emotional-based descriptions of pain, feelings, belonging, harshes, imo. Is a real life description of what authoritative and dictatorship regimes personnel do all over the real world. They just do as they are commanded, without thinking without empathy. They’re sheep! They are human garbage.
I had to read this book for my book club. It is very dark and carries mob mentality thoughts. Hard to get into at first but flows much better after several chapters. It feels like where humanity is headed in many parts.
