The Demon Lord Has a Cat Now
Yu Yan transmigrated into a cultivation novel as a stand-in for the beloved protagonist. Upon opening his eyes, he found himself in the “jumping-off-a-cliff” scene. In the original plot, he didn’t dare to jump—he was just bluffing to guilt-trip the people who once doted on him.
Everyone knew he wouldn’t jump, so they didn’t even spare him a glance.
Yu Yan jumped. Why? Because he knew his chance for a comeback was at the bottom of that cliff!
Down there was the novel’s ultimate villain, the Demon Lord Duan Lin. Armed with the knowledge that the Demon Lord was a certified fluff enthusiast, Yu Yan transformed into a cute little kitten and acted like he owned the place.
At first, of course, the Demon Lord was suspicious. He gave a chilling warning:
“If I find out you’re a human in disguise, you’re dead.”
But Yu Yan’s acting skills were top-notch. He played the part of an adorably clueless kitten so well that the Demon Lord ended up pampering him to the heavens.
Yu Yan’s plan was simple: take advantage of the situation and absorb the mysterious spiritual energy hidden in the depths of the cliff. With it, he could ascend and turn his fate around.
Unfortunately, ten years passed in the blink of an eye. Yu Yan had scoured every inch of the place but still couldn’t find his golden ticket. Instead, the Demon Lord started acting… off.
“Idiot, after all the spiritual pills you’ve eaten, you still can’t transform.”
“Why haven’t you taken human form today?”
“Are you too dumb to cultivate?”
“You’re not allowed to die!”
Yu Yan, the noble cat overlord, was rudely shaken awake. Annoyed, he meowed: Who keeps spreading rumors I’m dead? I’m just sunbathing! For the thousandth time, I’m not dead!
Faced with the Demon Lord’s increasingly extreme attempts at “raising” him, Yu Yan finally transformed into his human form… right in the Demon Lord’s arms. For a brief moment, Yu Yan swore he saw the Demon Lord blush.
Though Yu Yan knew his lies would be exposed as soon as he left the bottom of the cliff, he couldn’t help but enjoy it when the Demon Lord, back on the surface, grabbed the protagonist and snarled:
“You imposter! Where’s my cat?! Where did you hide my precious cat?!”
Yu Yan thought to himself, This feels amazing.

It was REALLY a fun read kind of silly sometimes, but I had a good laugh, I’m not gonna lie. If you love cats, demons, an obsessive ML, and want a light read where you must not take everything seriously, I recommend it. I think it would be a great palate cleanser not that I had anything on my palate, I’ve been starving for some time now 😔.
That being said, I’m dropping it at 47% (chapter 37), not because it’s not good, but because I think I found a meal. I’ll eat around and find out 🥳.

3.5 stars?? I did like this, it was just a little too silly and shallow at times for me. Still good though.
A few of my favorite quotes:
♢He trusted his own pooper scooper’s capabilitiesーno way he’d be any worse than the young master of the Tianji Sect!
…Oh, wait, right. Hao Zhen was the young master of the Tianji Sect. Who could know more about mechanisms than him?
Still, even if Yu Yan were ten times braver, he wouldn’t dare tell Duan Lin: Babe, you’re not good at thisーlet another man do it.
That would be instant death 101. 🤣
♢Yu Yan tried his best to keep his mind clear and bit down hard on the big demon’s shoulder, hoping the pain would help him stay sane.
Duan Lin: Then why don’t you bite your own arm?
Yu Yan: Because it hurts. 😂😂
♢“Well, since you’re so shy, I’ll go first,” Duan Lin said, pulling him close again. He spoke openly, “My wish is for you to be safe and happy.”
Yu Yan blinked. That was it?
He thought Duan Lin would wish for something like “may all my desires come true.” You know, the all-purpose kind.
As if reading his thoughts, Duan Lin smiled, and said, “A little lotus lantern, can’t hold so many wishes. If I can only choose oneーI choose you.”
Dammit, he actually got moved by that.
Yu Yan closed his eyes and buried himself in Duan Lin’s arms, resigning himself to his fate, and confessed, “My wish is that.… will always be together, never parting or abandoning each other.”
No matter what dangers or difficulties they would face in the future, they would always be each other’s strongest support, facing them together.

Did not finish book. Stopped at 36%.
I liked the premise and the first part of the book, with the demon prisoner making friends with the cat and pandering/playing with the cat.
But then the cat turned human and started badgering him for dual cultivation, until the demon gave in. So from the cat, it was basically coercing, and then the actual sex ended up violent-ish (nothing was shown, but the cat lamented the lack of tenderness and gentleness).
That was around 20-ish %
Now I've reached 35 % and it's full of misunderstanding, with the demon wanting love, and the cat using him to get out and all around being callous with the demon and the sword spirits.
I just don't like how the relationships are working out, so I'm out.

IT'S FINALLY ON GOODREADS. I hope it gets a proper license too, my goodness. This book was so fun, I adored the leads. 10/10 would reread brat central and peak enabler. Get you a man who lets you sit on his head so you can bully people more effectively. You're a cat btw. DUAN LIN I MISS YOU SO MUCH NOBODY'S A BETTER CAT DAD THAN YOU

very cute. Little to no real drama. Love the MC and ML. Side characters are there but aren't super fleshed out in any interacting way. a short and sweet love story with a bit of misunderstanding that doesn't really affect anything

Annoying bratty mc who was mentally regressing and only wants to use the ML. It started off good and had potential. This was genuinely a waste of time to read
