This is probably the best standard ‘yuri paradise’ story on the market and certainly the best ongoing. It fills a very specific niche and fills it pretty darn well. This volume is a hoot minus one big old clunk at the end.

Having worked through most of Shiho’s trauma last time and gotten her together, sort of, with Aki, this volume spends a lot of time as the ‘Shiho apology tour’ and it’s one that was definitely needed after how miserable she was when she was introduced.

They pretty much address all her past behaviour; I was super happy to see the mangaka bring up what really seemed like a clear attempt to pull Himari away from Yori and put that to bed. It seemed to get buried with all the other drama, but it gets a satisfactory explanation and resolution here (plus Yori continues to ooze cool girl charm at anybody around her by accident).

Speaking of things that get put to bed, Yori visits Himari’s home and meets her mother. That’s only a prelude to some bedroom shenanigans that offer up a little spice and some promises of even more to come. After not spending much time with the two leads for a while now this was really welcome and the entire home date is a blast.

Of course, the real change is Shiho and Aki’s new status, whatever it is, which depends on who you ask. We now pivot to Shiho being tsundere girlfriend par excellence and this is a fantastic use for her now that she’s stepped out of her villain era. Her no-chill reacting to Aki is a high point of the volume.

Between both these major pairings we do see some odd notions of love and attraction, but it’s mostly a darn good time either way and it at least shows people trying to figure out their own feelings. Yes, the aquarium date also rears its head, but this one is pretty flipping cute, so I will allow it.

Then comes the next big plot point and, oh, I just don’t know. The premise of a new pairing of girls getting together is about par for the course and, on the plus side, I really appreciated the way it shows that you absolutely need to consider both people’s feelings for dating.

Seeing this one look like a slam dunk of cute because everybody is on board and just so invested, to the point where the other person is basically just there to say yes and make the world right, and have it go real bad? That’s great stuff.

Then it turns out that it’s probably because of a sister complex.

Sigh. Look, Whisper Me A Love Song has curved away from bad ideas before, so I do hope this is a prelude to a better explanation. There’s no mistaking what it looks like by the end of the book though and I will not be kind if it heads there.

Otherwise? A really solid volume with the usual insanely detailed art. There’s nothing groundbreaking here, but I do appreciate it as an exemplar in its field. It doesn’t have a lot of weight, but it has enough.

4 stars - the bulk of this is exactly what I want from this series, all fluff and cuteness, with some excellent developments. I’ll focus on that for now and worry about that closing development next time out.

Me hace gracia que anoche cuando leí A sign of affection, había escena en la que iban a ver a los padres de la chica. Y en este tmb ha habido escena de ir a ver a la madre de una de las chicas JAJAJAJAJJAJAJAJAJ pero luego UFFFF LAS ESCENAS ENTRE HIMARI Y YORI, YO ME MATO. Lo único es que luego la subtrama de la pareja secundaria me gusta pero la principal es demasiado superior

goood Shiho and Aki are so cuteeee. and Shiho is a dumb clueless idiot (affectionate) like girl, Aki made this whole romantic confession in front of the whole school, performed a song that was special for you, asked you out on a date I AM PRETTY SURE SHE LIKES YOU BACK MY FRIEND!!!

their date was soooo cute, i am glad Aki was honest enough to tell Shiho that she doesn't quite love her but would still like to be around her and try to give their relationship a go. AND THAT ALMOST KISS OH LORDDDD, when they'll actually kiss i am gonna. explode probably, because it'll mean that Aki finally and fully likes Shiho back 🫠

their home date started out kind of steamy but nothing really happened and they instead had a wonderful conversation about wants and needs and respect and consent. safe to say that i love them, they're very sweet and i can't wait to watch their journey continue as they learn to trust eachother even more :)


i am praying to all the gods that we won't be getting some weird sibling incest one-sided thing between Miki and Aki cause it's quite literally one of the worst yuri tropes

As a Shiho fan this was such a great volume to read and I loved all the bits at Himari's house too but uhhh that last bit with Miki... PLEASE don't tell me we're gonna have a siscon arc I thought I was safe w this series😭

himari asked shiho to talk to yori so she would keep being the band’s manager. yori thought shiho had a crush on himari at first, and then realized she actually likes aki and bullies her crush because of it lmao.
i thought it was really cute how aki asked shiho out on a date. she asks shiho to be her girlfriend and says she still doesn’t know if she loves her romantically, but she doesn’t want to lose her. and shiho says she’ll do her best to make aki fall in love with her. and they’ll only kiss when aki feels romantic attraction toward shiho. progress.
himari getting jealous of yori with the cat ajsjjds.
and wow, miki (himari’s best friend and aki’s sister) got confessed to by another girl and now she has complicated feelings.

Decided to jump back into this series and power through the volumes I had left. So this review is for Volumes 7-10.

I just adore these two. They are so sweet and I just want more of their relationship constantly. I was shocked with one relationship but really happy that it happened by the end of the series. It's such a cozy series. Ends in such a lovely way and has some sweet extras in the last volume.

This series is adorable, but the last page gave me whiplash… also it’s starting to feel really repetitive. Unsure if I’ll keep reading if the next volumes r gonna be abt the new “couple”. (Not Aki and Shiho tho, they r cute)
