Hmmmmm…what happened with this book in the series? Something felt off with the pacing and the story as a whole. I don’t know. I still enjoyed it but I felt that it felt rushed and so much was thrown in to wrap up the story very quickly. The actual relationship between the MCs didn’t develop until around 70% and then any intimate moments didn’t happen until the last 5%.

It just felt a bit clunky compared to all the other books in the series. The other books had that fun cosy romantasy feel to them, this one felt like it lacked the spark the others had. The MCs didn’t feel much like a match for me compared to the other couples in the series. The FMC really lacked any oomph. She was quite meek and lacked much of a personality if I’m completely honest. I don’t really get her and how she fits into the story other than she’s a healer who drains herself to heal people. The MMC has been a main character throughout the series and he was great. It just didn’t give the way I had hoped for the final book in this series.

Review of an advanced reader copy provided by the Author.

What happens when the person who heals everyone needs someone to heal her? Well Brews and Bandages answers that question perfectly. With this age gap romance there is tension, longing, and incredible funny moments. While this book is the least spicy, it still packs a punch with intense emotions. This addition is a great way to end this series.

This was a very sweet end to Moonvale Matches! This one was very plot heavy and I enjoyed that a lot! As this is the end, the bigger plot that's been building finally came to a head. I love how the town came together! Velline (our healer) and Tommins (the mayor), managed to somehow keep it together for their friends when things got tough. The only thing I'm a bit disappointed in is that the romance, while sweet, didn't seem to be properly fleshed out? The two MCs had quiet moments together but when they're thrown into fake-dating, it's towards the end and feels rushed. This series is very cute, though, and if you're looking for cozy monsters, then you're in the right place!

I don't even know where to begin. This book is packed with all the good feelings we need at this very moment. It exudes love, loyalty, found family, trust and the list goes on. Velline (FMC) was such a relatable character for me. She gave herself to others when they needed it but would tend to forget about herself. She was brave but at the same time lost on who she was and what she deserved. I fell in love with Moonvale the second I started reading this series so I was on the fighting lines with the whole town. The mayor, Tommins is such a great character. I was so happy that he was finally getting a book. The man has a way with words! whew! I'm so sad when the book ended but was happy with how it all wrapped up together.

It makes me want to start the series all over again!

This finale was cozy chaos in the best way.

Velline isn’t a warrior—she’s overworked, overwhelmed, and quietly holding Moonvale together as illness spreads through town. Watching her find her strength without losing her softness was beautiful. Tommins, proud mayor and natural leader, finally has to face that he can’t fix everything alone—and seeing that vulnerability? Loved it.

The fake mates trope during a full-blown crisis added the perfect mix of tension and tenderness. High stakes, swoony moments, and that small-town, multi-species charm made this such a satisfying send-off.

My only small complaint is that I wish we’d gotten more at the end—it felt slightly abrupt, and I would have happily soaked up a few extra chapters just to sit with everyone a little longer.

Still, warm, romantic, and just chaotic enough to keep things fun.

Brews and Bandages by Hailey Blackwood is the fourth installment in an interconnected series.

It turned out to be far more than the cozy read I initially expected. While the title might suggest a light story about comfort and healing, the book gradually unfolds into something deeper—mixing personal struggles with larger tensions affecting the entire community.
One of the most compelling threads is the looming uncertainty surrounding the king and the illness spreading through town. That background tension adds a surprising layer of political and emotional weight to the story.

What I enjoyed most, though, was how the story emphasizes connection. Friendship, loyalty, and community spirit are at the heart of the book. The characters lean on one another in moments of fear and uncertainty, and it’s that shared strength that really drives the story forward. The message is simple but powerful: when people stand together, even difficult times become a little easier to face.
The relationships—romantic and platonic alike—feel genuine and earned. Watching the characters slowly open up, trust each other, and build something meaningful together was incredibly satisfying. It’s the kind of story where emotional wounds don’t magically disappear, but they begin to heal through support and understanding.

There’s also just enough drama sprinkled throughout to keep the pages turning. Between personal conflicts, the larger political worries surrounding the crown, and the ever-present question of what the future holds, the story maintains a steady sense of tension without losing its warmth. Velline and Tommins feels like they are meant to be from the start and the ending of the book was such a beautiful moment shared between them.

Overall, Brews and Bandages is a heartfelt story about resilience—about how love, friendship, and a strong community can help people endure uncertainty and come out stronger on the other side.

I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to read the book as an arc. I’ve read all the books in this series and can truly recommend it as a whole if you want a lighthearted read with laughter, worries and excitement all in one. This is truly a cozy cabin vibe type of read ❤️

Brews and Bandages is yet another delightful addition to Hailey's enchanting Moonvale Matches series. This installment continues to evoke the cozy cottage vibes that I have come to adore. It's akin to the sensation of emerging from a soothing candlelit bath, snuggling into your favorite pajamas, and settling into your reading nook with a sweet treat and a steaming cup of tea on a rainy day. The experience is simply magical as you immerse yourself in the unfolding story.

The beloved characters from previous books feel like long-lost friends checking in on you, and their warmth infuses every page. Hailey's descriptive writing paints an exquisite picture of Moonvale, its tight-knit community, and the picturesque lands surrounding it. It creates a sense of immersion that feels as comforting and familiar as a beloved movie that you return to time and again.

One of the highlights of Hailey's writing is her ability to explore the evolution of love. In Brews and Bandages, characters become not only lovers but also deep friends and soulmates, paving the way for a uniquely profound relationship. The connection between Velline and Tommins is beautifully crafted as they navigate the complexities of their feelings while also facing external challenges—the perfect backdrop for their romance.

The stakes are high as Velline grapples with the pressure of keeping her community healthy amidst a mysterious illness, while Tommins strives to protect everything dear to him as mayor. The tension mounts as the pair is thrust together, forced to portray an alliance under the guise of a romantic relationship due to a slight misunderstanding. The situation is peppered with humor and heart, making their journey to save Moonvale all the more compelling.

Overall, Hailey has once again crafted a tale that feels like a warm embrace, making Brews and Bandages a must-read for fans of the series and newcomers alike. It’s a charming narrative that beautifully combines friendship, love, and the spirit of community. Mark your calendars, because you won’t want to miss out on this heartwarming adventure in Moonvale!

I want to say thank you from the very bottom of my heart for the absolute privilege of being able to arc read this book! I truly appreciate it!

Honestly I cried! I found this series last year by accident and completely fell in love with it. I devoured each and every book as they came out and this one was no different. The ending (maybe for now) is here for our beloved residents of Moonvale and you're going to absolutely love it, well crying that it's over and still wishing there was more!

This book is definitely a slow burn romance, through and through, but when it happens it's everything you were hoping for and more! I identified so much with Veline, and seeing her growth was truly breathtaking! She deserves the absolute world and she finds it. Tommins absolutely takes the cake for top book boyfriend in this series though! He is absolutely everything you want in a man and more. When they're together you're going to be absolutely giddy at what blossoms between them!

Now some parts of the book do feel a little rushed, but it does really work well the way the author has written it. The battle and every single twist and turn was utterly and literally explosive, and every single moment will have you on the edge of your seat, waiting to see if they'll make it through and win. There is so much more I want to say but I don't want to spoil any of it, but everything I adore about this series is right here in this book, just as it is in every single one of the books in this series.

If you're looking for found family, swoon-worthy romance, laugh out loud moments that will make your whole day, wrapped in the coziest feeling, you will undoubtedly find it here in this book and this series!

Thank you so very much again for allowing me the absolute privilege of being able to arc read this book! I truly appreciate it and I can't wait until I can bring it home to the others!

Brews and Bandages: A Cozy Fantasy Romance by Hailey Blackwood is the kind of story that wraps around you like a warm blanket—soft, comforting, and quietly unforgettable—while still carrying an emotional weight that lingers long after the final page.

Set against the charming yet fragile backdrop of Moonvale, this final installment raises the stakes in the most intimate way. A mysterious illness threatens the town, pushing healer Velline far beyond her limits, while Mayor Tommins watches everything he’s built begin to crumble. Forced into a fake-mates situation born from desperation and misunderstanding, the two must navigate not only the growing crisis—but the undeniable pull between them.

What makes this story shine is its balance. The romance is a slow, tender burn—rooted in trust, vulnerability, and the quiet moments between chaos. Watching Velline come into her own, shedding her self-doubt as she fights for her people, is deeply satisfying. Tommins, in turn, brings a steady, grounding presence, his strength not just in leadership but in how fiercely he cares.

The cozy fantasy atmosphere remains a highlight, with its small-town warmth, magical undertones, and sense of found family woven throughout. Yet there’s a deeper emotional edge here—grief, pressure, and the fear of losing everything—that gives this installment a richer, more resonant tone. It feels like a love letter to the series itself, tying together character arcs while still delivering a romance that stands beautifully on its own.

If anything holds it just shy of perfection, it’s that the pacing occasionally leans more toward comfort than urgency, softening the tension of the central conflict. But even that feels intentional—this is, at its heart, a story about healing, in every sense of the word.

Although this is the fourth book in the series and the only one I have read so far, I am going to do my best to give it the review it deserves.

This story is filled with epic fantasy elements: gods, dragons, kings, and angels all play a role in a world that feels rich and layered with history. Even stepping into the series at this point, it’s clear there is a much larger story unfolding behind the scenes.

One of the central tensions revolves around Tommins, the town’s mayor, who seems to constantly find himself injured and in need of healing. The town has fiercely protected him from the King’s wrath, but their loyalty comes at a cost. Now the King has branded the entire town as rebels, raising the stakes and placing everyone in danger.

Velline, the town’s healer, is a particularly compelling character. She is overwhelmed and exhausted, giving everything she has to care for others. Each time she heals someone, she takes their pain into herself, leaving her drained and without time to recover. Her sacrifice adds an emotional weight to the story, highlighting the personal cost of magic and loyalty.

Even without having read the previous books, I could sense the depth of the world and the relationships. This installment feels like part of a much bigger, high-stakes saga where power, sacrifice, and survival are constantly intertwined.

The last book in the Moonvale series and it is the perfect ending to an amazing series!

Tommins is the town's mayor. We get to see him throughout the series. It was great to see him shine! Serious because he needs to be for the people of his beloved town. We get to see a glimpse of what that all entails. Brave and courageous even when he doesn't want to be. He is smitten with the town's healer who carries her own burdens. Realizing that his kindred spirit comes in a form of a beautiful angel and when a King threatens the town, he will do everything in his power to keep them safe.

Velline is trying to figure out what is causing the town's citizens to become ill. The shy healer is overwhelmed with the unknown, she finds that she will do everything to save the town. When the town's handsome mayor allies with her, she risks losing more than just the townsfolk.

Hailey wraps up this series with care and love towards all of her beloved Moonvale folks. Giving us a story that it is ok to accept help when you need it most. That no one is ever alone in fighting whatever battles you may face.

I absolutely adore this series, so grab a glass of cherry wine and enjoy!

"If you need me, I am here. If you call, I will come. I'll always come for you, Velline."

What a beautiful ending to the Moonvale Matches series! I really enjoyed the overall pacing of this story. The slow burn between Velline and Tommins was just chefs kiss. It really showcases another type of love. It's not instant but something that keeps drawing the one to another. They both have a huge sense of duty to the town that can be incredibly isolating. Tommins always having to put out fires and always having to have an answer to any issue that may arise or Velline, who feels like all she is good for is healing. But her healing gifts come at a cost and it honestly kept breaking my heart.

Although I am sad that there will be no more books in this series, I feel as if Hailey was able to wrap up every character's story line perfectly. If you're looking for a low stakes \ cozy fantasy romance- then be sure to check out this series! You will not be disappointed.

This story has found family, friends to lovers, baby dragons, ancient gods, magic and if he wanted to he would!!

I have enjoyed this series, but unfortunately for me this last book didn’t feel the same as the previous ones. For me it was a bit messy, and the relationship development felt lacking between the MMC’s. Even said that, I do understand that Tommins and Valline developed more of a friendship and companionship beforehand, which I actually did appreciate. It is just the rest of the story felt a bit all over the place or more like hurried.

What was missing the most was the magic of Moonvale, but that is understandable since they were under threat the whole duration of the book till the very end. I did enjoy meeting everyone again and that they got to resolve the current threat what was upon their beloved town.

I still recommend this series, but perhaps I needed something a bit less hurried so i could have soaked in the Moonvale magic and get more quality time between the MMC’s because this time I felt I barley saw them.

Brews and Bandages was such a cozy fantasy read with mystery and a little romance. The story takes place in Moonvale, where a strange illness begins spreading and tensions rise after a king demands the town surrender the gods and even the baby dragons living among them.

The FMC, Velline, is a winged healer who truly cares about helping the people of Moonvale. She’s compassionate, determined, and does everything she can to help the sick while trying to figure out what’s really causing the illness.

Tommins, the MMC, is a gryphon and the mayor of Moonvale. He’s friendly, dependable, and always shows up for the townsfolk. I loved that he wasn’t the typical broody MMC — he genuinely cares about his community. Things get even better when he fake pretends to be Velline’s mate… want to know more? 😏 Love this entire series!

Tropes:
• Healer FMC
• Gryphon MMC
• Fake mates
• Small town fantasy (Moonvale)
• Mysterious illness
• Found community
• Baby dragons 🐉
• Spice 🌶️🌶️

This was a great way to wrap up the Moonvale Matches series. The book brings together everything that made the series enjoyable, strong emotions, tension, funny moments, and that sense of longing that keeps you turning the pages.

Velline and Tommins were wonderful to watch. Velline has never seen herself as a fighter. She prefers to stay in the background and focus on helping others. As a mysterious illness spreads through Moonvale, the pressure of trying to keep everyone healthy begins to wear on her. Tommins is the opposite in many ways. As the mayor, he is used to carrying responsibility for the town. Seeing him face the possibility of losing the place he cares about so deeply adds real weight to the story.

The emotions in this book run high, but there are also plenty of lighter and funny moments that balance the tension. The fake mates situation adds awkward moments, quiet longing, and a slow build as Velline and Tommins start to rely on each other increasingly.

One of my favourite parts was watching their connection grow. Their relationship builds through shared responsibility and small moments of support, especially while the pressure around them continues to increase. You can really feel the tension between what they say and what they are starting to feel.

Overall, this was a satisfying conclusion to the series. It was lovely to see the characters come together and fight for Moonvale while also finding strength in each other. If you have been following the Moonvale Matches books, this is a very fitting and emotional way to close the series.

Brews and Bandages, by Hailey Blackwood, is the fifth book in the Moonvale Matches series. This is such a fun cozy fantasy romance series. I have enjoyed the entire series and getting to know all of the characters and their quirks.
Brews and Bandages follow Velline, the town’s healer, and Tommins, the town’s Major, through being marked as a rebel town by the king and a mysterious illness that is starting to take over the town. They are also trying to prepare for when the king and his men come to attempt to take the “forbidden ones” the old gods, and the “forbidden beasts” the baby dragons.
While there isn’t near as much spice in this book as with the prior books of the series, the chemistry is there, and it is an extremely slow burn, until it isn’t.
I recommend this book/series, to anyone who likes cozy romantasy books.

I loved this next installment in the Moonvale Matches series! We love an age gap romance, and Tommins was such a compelling character. He’s a strong leader but also incredibly attentive, and I really enjoyed watching how he helped bring out Velline’s stronger, more confident side.

Their dynamic was easily my favorite part of the book. The chemistry between them was fantastic and their more intimate scenes were 🔥.

My only small critique is that the pacing in the middle toward the end felt a little rushed. I expected we’d get a bit more buildup around the gods and the king before the king actually appeared. That said, the ending still completely caught me off guard. I won’t spoil anything, but I definitely didn’t see it coming.

Overall this was a really fun read and a great addition to the series. I’m excited to see where the story goes next!

This cozy fantasy romance has me in all my feels! From fake dating to the longing. I could not put it down! A low stress story that should be read in order. With dragons, a wicked king, a healing angel, and a strong kind mayor who wants what's best for his folk. I have absolutely loved this series from book one and the cozy feeling I get while reading them is amazing. Following the mayor, Tommins, who we have caught glimpse of from the first book finally gets his happily ever after with the newer resident of moonvale Velline, the angel. With the king deciding moonvale is a danger to the crown for keeping gods and the baby dragons out of his reach. The town comes together to help the folk.
A must read series that I am sad to see end. Perfect to read when you want a low stress fantasy story that stills gives you that magical element that I personally love.

In this charming slow-burn romance, we meet Velline, a lovely angel with healing powers who runs a clinic in Moonvale, an endearing town that embraces its quirks. Beside her is Tommins, the strong and handsome mayor of Moonvale. Their world is thrown into turmoil as they face a looming danger that threatens the gods who have returned, along with three baby dragons.

Amidst the chaos, bravery emerges, and the characters are tested as they unite to fight against injustice. Through their struggles, Velline and Tommins discover strength and trust in one another, ultimately finding love in the process. This delightful read is perfect for anyone looking for a heartwarming story filled with adventure and romance.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! The ending, I'm in love.
I feel like crying knowing that this was the last book in this series. I think this one is my favorite of them all!

This time we follow mayor Tommins and Velline. Things are a little chaotic as the town has to prepare for battle, while other things are also happening in Moonvale. Mayor Tommins is set on protecting his town, his friends, and of course the towns healer, Velline.

This story is about love, friendship and bravery. Oh and don't forget, baby dragons!!!

This was an ARC read, and I honestly give this 5/5 stars. This story was heartwarming, moving, funny but still with a bit of adventure. 100% recommend it.

I am sad to see the Moonvale Matches series come to an end. Its been an automatic ARC sign up for me ever since Ciders & Cat Tails.

There were a lot of cute moments in the story, however the beginning was slow and repetitive, only for a large amount of things to be summarized in the end. I would have liked the reveal about the cats to be bigger, seeing as how they have popped up in every book.
It also severely lacked in the romance department and any true building of a romantic relationship was part of the summary.

I was looking forward to Mayor Tommin’s romance, but was left disappointed.

This is a sweet romance, I would say the sweetest yet, and the lowest amount of spice in the whole series. The main female character is so unsure of themselves, so critical of themselves, that they don't really allow themselves to look beyond whatever flaws they perceive to the immense good they do. The main male character is confident and proud, and puts such a burden on themselves, that they don't let themselves rest. They are both adorable characters that you can root for in love and romance. I don't think I would classify the book as cozy though, the entire story is tense with worry and fear of how the town will faire in the grand finale. And the romance is very slow burn so you don't even get a small reprieve in the middle of the story. It is absolutely adorable and worth the read, just know going in it has a bit more plot and quite a few stakes involved.

Brews and Bandages is one of those books where you just want to cuddle up with a blanket and hot chocolate. The relationship development between Tommis and Velline is beautiful to read unfold within the pages of this book.

I am normally a reverse harem reader, but this book awakened the cozy reader in myself, highly recommend the series as they all connect and have interactions within the books that are mentioned.

With pressure from the outside source and an illness going through the town, their love still grows with each page that you turn.

I was lucky enough to recieve this book as an ARC Read from the author it was a 4-5 for me so I needed to round up or down for my review so I've rounded up as I did really enjoy this book. I found this one to be a bit more slow paced then the others but I felt that it fit really well along with the Plot and for the FMC and MMC this one was based around. I felt like it was a great fit to the series keeping the cozy small town Romances with a different way for the characters to find each other and realise their feeling's for one another.

This was a lovely read. If you are looking for a heart warming cozy fantasy this is definitely something you should read.

Tommins is the mayor of Moonvale and with all the chaos going on is just trying to make so the village survive the next disaster!

Velline is the village healer and has her work cut out for her! Between the normal day to day injuries and now more odd cases coming in how will she keep up!

Can the two of them work together to make sure everyone in the village will be ok when the king announces he’s on his way!

This was a cozy and easy read. I really like the world of Moonvale and that small-town feeling where magic and everyday life blend together in such a charming way.
The characters are easy to like and the romance was nice to follow. At the same time, I didn’t feel like it completely pulled me in all the way, but it’s still a warm and enjoyable story to read.
A really cozy fantasy, perfect when you want something light and magical.

Thank you so much Hailey for letting me be a part of your team. ♥️🌺

This was such a solid finish to the series that introduced and helped me fall in love with the genre of cozy fantasy. Seeing all the characters that I fell in love with in the past books work together made this book feel like a hug.

I would say that this book is more cozy fantasy with a romance sub-story vs fantasy romance. And honestly that felt so right. It brought the story line that was built up over the last books to a solid conclusion but it did take away from the tension and dynamics between the main couple in this book.

Hailey has quickly become one of my favourite authors. Her books flow seamlessly and you’re wrapped up before you now. B&B was no different. I loved watching Velline find her confidence and see how Tommins played into that. The burn is slow, the world building is great and there’s a little twist at the end you don’t see coming. This was the perfect end for the Moonvale series and I’m super sad about!

The gradual development between Velline and Tommins was absolutely delightful. It showcases a unique form of love that doesn’t blossom instantly but gradually evolves into a captivating connection. Both characters are deeply committed to their town, which can be quite isolating, yet their relationship manages to work out beautifully.

If you’re seeking a low-stakes, heartwarming fantasy romance, this series is a must-read! You won’t be disappointed.

Compared to rest of the series this book was more plot heavy, which is great but I felt that it took away from the romance in this case. I love a slow burn don’t get me wrong but it felt like for the first almost 3/4 of the book the relationship was basically nonexistent. And then things were rushed in the end to wrap it all up. I enjoyed the book but I didn’t love it like I did the rest of the series.
