Bertier aimait Laure, Laure aimait Aurélien et Aurélien aimait la vie. Ils étaient jeunes et sans doute pouvaient-ils encore espérer qu’avec le temps ce triangle amoureux revisité finisse par trouver son équilibre. Il n’en fut rien.
Devenue écrivain, Laure n’a pourtant jamais évoqué dans son œuvre cette période de sa vie. Dix-sept romans, mais pas une ligne sur les nuits blanches à Saint-Germain-des-Prés, les après-midis studieux à la bibliothèque Sainte-Geneviève, les interminables journées de vacances sur l’île d’Oléron.
Que s’est-il passé qui justifie ce blanc laissé au milieu des centaines de pages qu’elle a noircies depuis ?
A bientôt soixante-cinq ans, Laure Narsan entame ce qui sera sans doute son dernier livre. Et accepte enfin de revenir sur cet événement qu’il lui aura fallu quarante ans et dix-sept succès de librairie pour oser affronter.

This is the first novel I've read from French author Anne-Sophie Brasme. The story is concise and easy to read and understand. The author wrote about a 65 years old author, who senses that she grew old and that her 17 book and 40 years long career is to be soon over. Thus, she reflects on the summer of her youth prior to the beginning of her career.

The story is simple, straight forward and it lacks creativity and has one single simple twist. The exercise of reflecting on the youth when feeling old is normal and can connect with most readers, but the story itself is not so interesting. The author in the book is an average author, who's published books one after the other without ever winning a literature prize and whose sales are dwingling. Even the leading character is not attractive to read. I had the impression the author was describing herself in the book.

There was one blunt timeline problem with the story. The story in the past is supposed to have have happened in 1991 and 45 years ago!!! A major anomaly in the timeline gone unnoticed by the author and publisher. The present time of the story doesn't see to be hapenning in 2036!!!

Avec ce roman, Anne-Sophie Brasme confirme qu’elle est une auteur talentueuse et qu’elle réussit à me toucher avec chacune de ses histoires. J’ai beaucoup aimé découvrir les souvenirs de Laure, tout comme sa difficulté à se rappeler des épreuves les plus difficiles de sa vie, comme des plus heureuses. Une très belle histoire par moments très surprenante aussi.
