As a little girl, Robin danced with her "nutcracker boyfriend" while watching ballet, and she'd fall asleep with him on a special pillow. Years later, that sweet childhood memory resurfaces and pushes her to reconnect with her beloved nutcracker, but it also reinforces how lonely she truly is.
Christmas Eve, she lays the nutcracker on the pillow beside her and uses a very specific gift to give herself some attention. In the morning, her nutcracker is a flesh-and-blood man whose only memories revolve around her. He's adorably innocent, sweetly obsessed, and incredibly curious. He awakens her body like never before. But he also awakens her heart. They may not have forever, but they'll spend whatever time they do have in each other's arms.
CONTENT Her Nutcracker Boyfriend is an erotic romance novelette, and if the description above isn't clear, it's about a nutcracker who turns into a man. Love, Fey is author Chrys Fey’s pen name for all the smutty romance stories her muse insists she needs to write. And who is she to go against her muse?
Each story is a spicy love letter to readers looking for book boyfriends and girlfriends of all kinds.
Fey’s characters all have a bit of herself in them, whether that’s her Arian fire or chronic pain. And every story includes something she loves—nutcrackers, Halloween, references to Pride & Prejudice and Pretty Woman, witches, gargoyles, and more.
She’s a proud cat mama, a nail polish junkie, and will always write and publish romance no matter who may be against it. In fact, if a story idea may get close-minded individuals mad, that story moves to the top of her list. ;)
This is not a preferred genre for me, but I've always enjoyed the writing style and themes of this author. This book was well written and highly creative. I don't know how to rate something that wasn't comfortable to read, but wasn't unenjoyable. I like the magical concept and even liked the characters. It's an extremely short read, which was good for someone who doesn't usually read this genre. The finale came quicker than expected, and seemed to rush the conclusion but this wasn't necessarily bad. The conclusion is clearly not the main point of the story.
While not necessarily recommended to casual fans of steamy romance, this seems ideal for fans of erotic fiction. This is a story of attraction with magical elements that make the "love" theme work for the story being told. Unlike other erotic stories I've tried, this one didn't feel exploitive, though it's still writen with stanard erotica language that remains a turn off for me.
Ultimately, I'd recommend this to adult readers who aren't shy about expressing their interest in erotic stories.
What a spicy little gem of a book. A light, delightful, read-in-one-night treat. She’s a bit shy, he’s an open book. She’s the teacher, he’s the student. She lives out her fantasies, he makes them all come true. There’s nothing not to like. The stakes are low but the payoff is sky high! And the dialogue is so charming I was grinning and giggling as I read.
This story is page after page of spice, but there’s plot and emotion too. And sweetness. Oh, and dare I say it’s a little subversive? It’s a total flip of the patriarchal narrative that a woman has no other purpose but to love and serve her man. I don’t know if Fey intended that message, but I doubt she’ll mind if it’s the one took!
