Brace yourself for a snowbound adventure in this 2-in-1 novella collection from your favorite romantic suspense authors as an avalanche forces two couples to face down their enemies in a ski resort shut off from the outside world.
In "Buried in Shadows" by Dani Pettrey, Cassandra Parker arrives at her best friend's destination wedding, praying her stalker didn't follow her to Colorado. Also part of the wedding party is Sheriff Joel Brunswick, the man Cassandra left at the altar to save his life. When an avalanche traps their skiing party in an abandoned lodge, it soon becomes dangerously clear Cassandra's stalker has followed her . . . and he is willing to kill to make her his.
In "Snowbound Secrets" by Lynette Eason, Dr. Maya Sullivan fully intends to escape her past and finish planning a retreat for military veterans at the ranch she's inherited. Unfortunately, her plans go sideways when an avalanche traps her in a Colorado ski resort. An unexpected reunion with her high school crush forces her to confront past wounds, but she soon realizes someone is targeting her, and their search for a shadowy enemy becomes a matter of life and death.
Lynette Eason grew up in Greenville, SC. She graduated from the University of South Carolina, Columbia, and then obtained her masters in education from Converse College. Author of twenty inspirational romantic suspense books, she is also a member of American Christian Fiction Writers (ACFW) and Romance Writers of America (RWA). In 1996, Lynette married "the boy next door" and now she and her husband and their two children make their home in Simpsonville, South Carolina."
I always enjoy a good Christian, romantic suspense read and these were some great novellas! Very much an on the edge of your seat read for both novellas in this collection.
If you are looking for a good quick winter read, check these out because both have snowed in, avalanches type of storylines, with high-stakes suspense.
The first one, Dani Pettrey's, follows Joel and Cassandra in a second chance romance. She left him at the alter years ago over this crazy situation with a stalker she had. Now, they are back around each other when they are both part of a destination wedding party. Everyone ends up being snowed in at an abandoned lodge with their friends after a tragic avalanche happens. But is her stalker lurking in every corner? Will she reveal the real reason she left so long ago?
I was really engaged in this one! Loved the characters and suspense. It was very intense though, with several murders taking place.
In the second one, Lynette Eason's, we follow Dr. Maya who is escaping her past and planning a retreat for veterans at the ranch she has inherited. She runs into her high school crush, Gideon, and soon realizes someone is targeting her. They work together to find the person who is after her. I liked this one but I think Dani's was my fav! I just connected with those characters more.
content warnings: mentioned of friends being murdered semi-detailed and disturbing POV of killer, would be triggering probably to someone who has been through a stalker situation so be aware of this content, no language, clean romance.
I recommend for anyone who likes Christian romantic suspense and wants something quick. Thank you to Revell for a complimentary copy for my honest review. All thoughts are my own.
A pair of icy, high octane novellas await you in Whiteout!
Dani Pettrey’s novella is high octane danger and will have your heart racing by the end of the story.
A second chance romance with an avalanche and a stalker. What could go wrong? Everything!
Will Cassandra and Joel escape the danger or will this be the end for both? You’ll have to read it to know the answer!
Lynette Eason’s contribution is expertly written and packs a punch. You might want to bundle up because the chill factor radiates off the pages.
It’s a forced proximity, second chance romance buried beneath the drama of an avalanche. Will Maya and Gideon find the person who wants her dead? Will they both make it out alive?
You’ll just have to read it to find out!
I received an advance copy from the publisher. I’m under no obligation and my review has not been solicited. Very recommended!
Snowed in together? Check. Constantly in danger? Check. Jaw-dropping twists? Check. Organic faith threads? Check. Swoony second chance romance? Check. Two of my fave authors? Check and check.
If Dani Pettrey or Lynette Eason write it, I will read it. So when they’re BOTH at the helm of this romantic suspense novella collection, it’s an absolute no-brainer that I needed to get Whiteout in my greedy little hands as quickly as possible. These two novellas are set at neighboring resorts on the same Colorado mountain, each one spotlighting a different group of people trapped by the same avalanche with lives at risk. But in both cases, the brutal elements are not the worst enemy they have to overcome. Because each heroine has a target on her back… and each hero may get caught in the crossfire.
Pettrey kicks off the collection with “Buried in Shadows”, a story tied to her Jeopardy Falls world and one that kept me on the absolute edge of my seat. Pretty sure there were a couple of times I quit breathing too. Along with the constant danger the protagonists find themselves in, there’s also a lot of emotionally-charged romantic tension that heightens the stakes even further. See, Cassie is in Colorado for her best friend’s wedding but it’s also the first time she’s seen her ex (the hunky Sheriff Joel Brunswick) in a year. He still doesn’t know why she left him at the altar, and if she wants him to stay alive she can’t tell him. (So right from the prologue, I’m on high alert, y’all.) Between an avalanche throwing their ski excursion into chaos and a disturbed stalker wreaking havoc on their survival, Cassie & Joel and the rest of the wedding party – all friends & family of the bride and groom – must fight to stay alive. This novella is Dani Pettrey at her best! The creep factor (stuck in an abandoned lodge in a blizzard with a murderer lurking somewhere nearby), the heart-pounding suspense (see previous parentheses), the pulse-racing romance (I loved Cassie & Joel together!) … all of it had me glued to the pages right up until the final word.
Eason closes out Whiteout with “Snowbound Secrets”, another high-stakes story which also kicks off her brand new Soldiers in Shadows series. I really enjoyed meeting Maya and Gideon and learning their shared backstory as well as the separate circumstances that brought them each to the resort. Like Pettrey’s characters, Maya and Gideon and the rest of the people at the Silver Pines are stranded without access to cell phone signals, Wi-Fi, or medical care. Unlike the wedding party however, Maya and Gideon are relatively safe from the elements themselves and can enjoy the amenities of the resort. This gave my shoulders some time to settle back down from the tense hunch they developed in the previous novella, but it wasn’t too long before they were creeping back up toward my ears as the danger to Maya increases. Gunshots, accidents, and secrets – oh my – kept me on my toes, trying to stay ahead of the investigation and figure out who was after Maya before the characters did. And I thought I was connecting the dots really well….yet I still managed to be completely caught off guard by a plot twist in the end. Such a great novella that has me eager to read Twilight Tactics when it releases in August (argh! Such a long wait!).
Bottom Line: Whiteout brings together two fantastic romantic suspense authors, one avalanche, and a whole lot of nail-biting tension! There were moments in each novella where I could barely breathe – whether it was because I felt the characters’ snow-packed claustrophobia or their sense of being watched or because I was swooning over the sweet chemistry between first Cassie & Joel and then Maya & Gideon. Dani Pettrey and Lynette Eason each bring their signature strengths to these novellas, delivering well-developed characters with immersive plots despite the shorter page count and proving that these two authors don’t need a full-length novel to keep us deeply invested. Whiteout is intensely entertaining, gently faith-filled, and impossible to put down, and if you like your romance reads snowy, suspenseful, and swoon-worthy, then this is the book for you!
(I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book)
A 2 novella collection of romantic suspense from some the two of my favorites! 2 different stories from 2 different sides of the same mountain, what a fun idea!
First novella is Buried in Shadows by Dani Pettrey, follows Cassie and Joel who were childhood friends turned engaged couple turned strangers. Forced together again during a mutual relations' wedding, someone from Cassie's past comes back into the picture and throws her and Joel right back together.
The second novella is Snowboard Secrets by Lynette Eason, follows Maya and Gideon who are childhood friends who lost touch after both entered into the army one as a surgeon and the other in Spec Ops. They meet up again at a resort they used to visit as children to take time and think about their futures. An Avalanche causes them to get stuck on the mountain, and suddenly Maya is fearing for her life as events that could be accidental and not related keep piling up and she thinks someone might be out to get her. Good thing an ex Spec Ops and old friend is nearby to help protect her.
I really enjoyed the narrator, she did an awesome job! A quick, fun, and certainly suspenseful read!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of the audiobook in exchange for my honest opinion.
There’s simply nothing better than a collection from my two favorite romantic suspense authors!
Buried in Shadows by Dani Pettrey kept me on the edge of my seat from page one! I loved Cassie and Joel immediately and was totally rooting for their second chance romance! I absolutely adored this story! The avalanche survival aspect and the Agatha Christie-esque locked room type mystery were both absolutely PHENOMENAL! I completely loved every single second of this story! Can’t wait to read Three Steps Behind, book three in the Jeopardy Falls series when it releases in August!
Snowbound Secrets by Lynette Eason was a fabulous suspense novella! I loved Maya and Gideon, and I totally felt like I was snowed in with them at the Colorado lodge! As with all of this author’s books I was on the edge of my seat for the entire story. So many crazy things happen in this story, and it was all brilliantly done! Absolutely loved every second of it! I can’t wait to read Twilight Tactics, book one in Lynette’s new series when it releases in August (The release date just so happens to be the day after my birthday, so happy birthday to me!)
I most highly recommend Whiteout!
I received a complimentary copy of this book from author Dani Pettrey. My review was not influenced in any way. All thoughts and opinions are one hundred percent my own
White Out is a Novella collection by Lynette Eason and Danny Petrie, there’s lots of similar things in each book but both has its own flavor they both have avalanches they both have hunky love interest and they both have danger and although they come from different places I must say I enjoyed both of them. If I was forced to pick a favor it would probably be the one with cop Joe becausel OMG who doesn’t like a cop I am new to cozy mysteries and I’m really not wowed by the endings but I must say the first story of course with cop Joel was a good one and when she was stuck under the snow I started feeling claustrophobic even though we don’t get to see her point of view during it. These are two great books they’re on the longer side of Novelas and they’re both really good with great narration.#NetGalley, #TheBlindReviewer, #MyHonestReview,
Whiteout contains two romantic suspense novellas which take place during an avalanche.
Both stories involve groups of people stranded following the storm. One is a locked room mystery, even though it's a group of friends - one of them is a killer. I did have to suspend disbelief for this story, but once I did, I really enjoyed it.
The second story involves friends from childhood who find themselves reunited at the lodge. The FMC recently inherited a ranch she plans to use as a veterans retreat, when she finds herself trapped in Colorado. When the two MCs run into each other, sparks begin to fly right away. She later finds herself in severe danger while they're trapped at the resort.
I enjoyed both stories. Even though they're novellas, there was still enough time in both stories to build the plot, the romance and the suspense. Being secluded, completely cut off from any aid or any way to escape REALLY add to the suspense in both stories.
Thank you to the publishers and NetGalley for providing an advanced audiobook release for me to review, in exchange for my honest opinion.
Can I just start out by saying WOW! Whiteout gives two times the reading suspense in this two-in-one book! We get Buried in Shadows from Dani Pettrey and Snowbound Secrets from Lynette Eason. Both stories are set in Colorado on a mountain when an avalanche cuts all concerned parties off from the outside world. Yes, this bad but soon an even greater danger is revealed when not one, but two killers are discovered among them.
In Buried in Shadows Cassandra Parker had begun to think that her stalker had finally quit checking an eye on her, it's been a year since she was forced to back out of her wedding. But a friend's destination wedding finds Cassandra in Colorado with the man she jilted, Joel Brunswick, and her stalker. When an avalanche strands the entire wedding party in an abandoned cabin, the stalker lets Cassandra know exactly how far he'll go to keep her away from the man she loves.
So, this story is suspense filled and just a little creepy as we get a glimpse into the stalker's POV. Okay more than a little creepy, more like a whole lotta creepy. And everyone's lives are in danger as the stalker makes his presence known while staying hidden in the background while a big old snowstorm rages outside. Not a before bedtime read, unless you want a reason to stay up late into the night.
In Snowbound Secrets Maya Sullivan is reunited with her past when she decides to take a few days at a Colorado ski resort. When an avalanche cuts the resort off from all contact from the outside world, she's surprised to find Gideon Price also there. She had crushed on Gideon when they were younger, but time and their pasts have left a mark on them both. But when someone decides to target Maya, Gideon offers to help protect her. But why someone would decide to do so is unclear. And until they can discover a motive they can't figure out who is after her.
This story kept me guessing until the villain was revealed, and it was definitely a page-turner and a late night read.
I was provided a complimentary copy of this book with no expectations. All thoughts expressed are my own.
This audio includes two clean suspense Christian romance novellas that take the listeners to a ski resort in Colorado. Though the stories occur simultaneously during an avalanche , each one occurs on a different side of the mountain and each is filled with a different type of suspense. The stories also have characters that are struggling not only with their future, but also with their faith. BURIED IN SHADOWS by Dani Pettrey was my favorite. In this one Cassandra Parker is at the resort to attend her best friend’s wedding and the sister of the man Cassandra left at the altar the previous year. Not because she didn’t love Joel Brunswick, but rather she loved him so much that in order to keep him safe she had to separate herself from him. When an avalanche occurs during a group ski run, the stalker and the danger Cassandra had wanted to avoid, has found her. Will Joel be able to keep her safe? Will they discover who is the stalker? If they survive, will these two find their way back to each other? SNOWBOUND SECRETS by Lynette Eason revolves around veterans Dr. Maya Sullivan and Gideon. While at the ski resort they meet again. When the avalanche hits, and communications to the outside world are cut, they become isolated. That doesn’t stop them frim helping those injured and working as a team. Gideon has a secret, and Maya is suffering from PTSD. But when it seems someone is after Maya, it’s Gideon who comes to her rescue. Will Gideon be able to save Maya? Who is after her and why? Will Gideon open his heart to God and Maya ? Both novellas were well developed as were all the main characters. With her narrations, Ms. Natalie Payne brought the stories to life. I was entrusted a copy of this audiobook by Netgalley and Recorded Books. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
There are two great stories in Whiteout. I love the connection between them. They take place at the same ski area, but the avalanche separates the settings of them. They have completely different characters and plots. The first novella in Whiteout is author Dani Pettrey's Buried in Shadows. Grab your warmest throw because you are about to be thrown into a blizzard. This author's ability to set the scene without bogging down the fast pace of the story is incredible. Cassie Parker and her jilted at the altar groom Sheriff Joel Brunswick are great characters. If you're like me and need to like the main characters to enjoy the book, don't worry. Cassie had good reason, and it was nothing that Joel did wrong. Cassie's stalker is back after a year and more determined than ever to make her his. The suspense level is high, and the mystery is a chilling enigma. The mystery is solved, and there's a Happy for Now for Cassie and Joel. Lynette Eason's Snowbound Secrets features Dr. Maya Sullivan and her childhood friend Gideon Price. Both are former military and suffer from PTSD. The story starts two days after the avalanche has cut off the ski resort from the outside world. Someone at the resort is after Maya, but she doesn't know who or why. Both Maya and Gideon are likable and relatable characters. The plot is fast-paced and kept my attention glued to the story. The author's writing style is absolutely perfect for this romantic novella. The dialogue feels authentic to each character. The ending is satisfying with the villains caught and an HEA for Maya and Gideon. I highly recommend Whiteout to readers of romantic suspense. I received a complimentary copy from the publisher and am sharing my opinion of these two extremely well-written and exciting novellas.
This was a fun and exciting set of novellas. Whiteout is written by Dani Pettrey and Lynnette Eason. The characters and stories bring you in quickly. I didn’t want to put down the book because I needed to find out what was happening. It features two novellas, Buried in Shadows by Dani Pettrey and Snowbound Secrets by Lynette Eason. Buried in Shadows by Dani Pettrey Cassandra and Joel were a sweet couple with history. Poor Cassie was scared for her life and friends but was trying to trust God. It was sweet to read about her reconnecting with Joel. Joel had to figure out if he was willing to risk his heart for Cassie again. The suspense was perfect! It didn’t feel too scary but there were definitely parts that surprised me. I did have my guess of the bad guy though so I wasn’t really surprised at the end. I enjoyed this novella and the characters! Snowbound Secrets by Lynette Eason I really liked both Maya and Gideon. They were interesting characters with a backstory. They had been childhood friends but hadn’t seen each other for some time. I liked their easy connection and the way that they worked well together. They were so sweet with each other especially as they figured out how to not only trust each other but support each other. The plot was engaging though I did have some guesses so I wasn’t totally surprised at the ending. These novellas were fun and I would recommend this fun book! They were a bit quicker but they are perfect for when you just want a quick read. It wasn’t too scary and had some faith influences. Whiteout is a clean inspirational romantic suspense.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the publisher through Netgalley. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.
Little did I know when I picked up Whiteout that I was in for a double treat. This collection delivers two suspenseful, fast-paced novellas from two exceptional authors, Dani Pettrey and Lynette Eason.
In Buried in Shadows, Dani Pettrey tells the story of a woman who walked away from the love of her life to protect him from a stalker who threatened deadly consequences if she stayed. When an avalanche traps Cassandra, Joel, and others in an abandoned lodge, survival means facing brutal conditions and a killer hiding in plain sight. The closed-circle tension gave me strong Agatha Christie vibes, and as a longtime fan, that’s high praise. It really is that good.
Snowbound Secrets by Lynette Eason is equally gripping. After an avalanche cuts off a Colorado ski resort, Dr. Maya Sullivan finds herself trapped with her high school crush and fellow Army veteran. As old wounds resurface, it becomes clear that someone is targeting her, turning their isolation into a fight for survival. The emotional depth pairs beautifully with the suspense.
Both novellas are quick yet satisfying reads, filled with strong characters, steady tension, and just the right touch of romance. If you’re new to either author, this collection is a wonderful introduction. Longtime fans of Pettrey and Eason will feel right at home.
Disclaimer: I received this book from the publisher but was under no obligation to provide a review. All opinions expressed are my own.
I always enjoy these two authors work and this book was no exception. This book is two separate suspenseful novellas set at a ski resort in the aftermath of an avalanche. The first story centers around Cassandra and Joel. Cassandra has been dealing with a stalker for several years, to the extent that she broke it off the day before her wedding to protect the man she loves. As her friend group meets for a ski trip, before the wedding of Joel’s sister, Cassandra’s stalker is back and Joel and Cassandra must fight for their lives. The second story centers around Maya and Gideon. Maya is a doctor at the ski resort and helping in the aftermath of the avalanche. Maya and Gideon end up fighting an unknown enemy who it seems want access to the land Maya recently inherited. Pros: I really enjoyed the fast pace and suspense of these stories. The authors were able to build the characters rather quickly, enough that the reader is able to cheer for them. Cons: Novellas always leave me wanting a bit more. The stories were good, but they were short and it’s a little bit hard to understand completely the background and history that the characters share in such a short work.
Overall I would recommend this book. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC to read. The views expressed here are completely my own.
3.5 ⭐️ eARC This audiobook features two snowbound novellas—one by Dani Pettrey and one by Lynette Eason—both set at a ski resort cut off from the outside world after an avalanche. The shared setting creates a tense, immersive listening experience that works well in audio.
In Buried in Shadows, a wedding party is trapped in an old ski lodge, forcing Cassandra Parker to confront Sheriff Joel Brunswick, the man she left at the altar years ago. As Cassandra begins to suspect her stalker is among the group, the story unfolds like a suspenseful game of Clue. The mystery kept me guessing, and the second-chance romance added strong emotional depth.
In Snowbound Secrets, Dr. Maya Sullivan’s quiet getaway turns dangerous when she’s attacked and rescued by Gideon Price, someone from her past. As it becomes clear she’s being targeted, the tension escalates quickly, leading to a chilling and satisfying conclusion.
Both stories were fast-paced and engaging, and I flew through the audiobook in a day. This is a great pick for fans of romantic suspense, closed-door mysteries, and second-chance romance—especially in audio format.
Thank you to NetGalley and RB Media for gifting me the ALC in exchange for an honest review.
I really enjoyed these two mysterious novellas. Both stories were immersive and atmospheric, and I’m always a sucker for a snowed-in thriller where the setting adds to the tension. The pacing was tight, the suspense kept me engaged, and the sense of isolation was done especially well.
The audiobook narration by Natalia Payne was excellent and added a lot to the experience—she handled the tension and emotional moments beautifully. I also absolutely loved the faith elements and prayers woven throughout the stories. On top of that, each novella included a clean romance subplot, which added warmth and emotional depth without taking away from the suspense.
Christian mystery/suspense is one of my favorite genres, and this book really delivered that comforting yet gripping balance so many readers enjoy. Overall, these novellas made for a fast, wintry listen with strong faith themes, solid suspense, and cozy-thriller vibes.
Highly recommend for fans of Christian suspense, clean romance, and snowy, high-stakes settings. ❄️✨
Whiteout is a combination of two romantic suspense novellas that coincide with each other during an avalanche in Colorado. In the first novella, Cassandra is attending a close friends’ destination wedding in Colorado. Only problem, her ex-fiancé, will also be there. She still loves him but made a hard choice in leaving him at the altar to protect him from her stalker. While skiing prior to the wedding an avalanche occurs, trapping Cassandra in a drift and the rest of her group returning to rescue her. They seek refuge in a cabin, only problem is that one of them is a killer.
The second novella, our FMS Maya has inherited a ranch that she plans to open as a veteran’s retreat. She finds herself trapped in Colorado due to an avalanche where she is reunited with a childhood friend. Unfortunately, all is not what it seems and there is darkness within one of the stranded group members.
Overall, I really enjoyed both stories, I was hooked and intrigued.
Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to receive and review the ALC.
Two winter themed novellas. In the first, Cassie reunites with her ex-fiancé, Joel, at a friend’s wedding festivities. Originally only separated from him only due to threats from a stalker, the two navigate a treacherous mountainside not knowing who to trust.
I liked the depictions of faith and frequent prayers put up by the characters. It was a nonviolent mystery with a “who dunnit” feel and we jumped right into the action. Large parts felt a little farfetched (why would experienced skiers/boarders not consider weather before heli-skiing?) and the motives of the stalker could have been flushed out better to make it more believable I also wanted more character development but I often find that to be a trade off in a novella.
The second story follows Mya and Gideon, childhood friends who reconnect at a ski resort after an avalanche. Strange things happen and Mya appears to be targeted for reasons unknown. Again, the character depictions of faith were appreciated and I liked the characters and their flaws. It flowed easily and had a good amount of suspense. I found this to be the stronger of the two stories.
What happens when two amazing suspense authors team up? A Whiteout occurs of course! Dani Pettrey and Lynette Eason throw us in to the snowdrifts and leave us to try to dig our way out as we venture to the Lodges and Resorts their characters are visiting when an avalanche occurs. These two authors did an amazing job of stirring up the adventure while throwing in a spark or two of romance. I enjoyed both novellas. I appreciated that neither story felt contrived to too short (which I sometimes find when reading a novella). Both provided enough characters I found myself hoping there might be a series or two that spins off from these story lines. (Maybe they already exist but my memory isn't placing them!) I read this leading in to a snow storm so it brought with it extra cold, snow, and chills! Thank you to NetGalley and Baker Book House for the opportunity to read this collection. All opinions are my own.
Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC! I appreciate you entrusting me with reading and giving my opinion on this novella.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - 5 star review for the first story. This storyline kept my attention the whole way through. It had action, suspense, a love story — everything I could have hoped for! The author did a wonderful job with the character development and I felt like the story was easy to follow.
⭐️⭐️ - 2 star review for the second story. Something about it confused me… I felt lost at times (maybe I fell asleep or drifted off while listening??) I just wasn’t as invested in the characters or the storyline and I didn’t realize this book was looped into a Christian genre until this story in particular. I’m not against this genre at all, but at one point the prayers, etc. started turning me off and I lost sight of the romance and storyline.
In either case I really liked Natalia Payne’s narration of the story.
Whiteout by Lynette Eason and Dani Pettrey contains two romantic suspense novellas set in Colorado. I cannot imagine being trapped by an avalanche or having to survive a blizzard with a killer on the loose. Both novellas feature suspense and mystery, with the whodunit element introduced early. Some parts, however, seem unrealistic. I cannot imagine taking a group out for heli-skiing knowing that a storm is imminent. The stalker's motives needed more development to seem believable. The characters could have been more developed, but that's typical for a novella. The faith element was light but present (prayers). I liked the character’s, Mya and Gideon. It was suspenseful, well-paced, and flowed smoothly. It was a tad on the cheesy side. The suspense was intensified thanks to the mountains, avalanche, and storm. Buried in Shadows and Snowboard Secrets are the two tense tales in Whiteout.
Whiteout, with two romantic suspense novellas by Lynette Eason and Dani Pettrey was an enjoyable audiobook listen with fantastic narration. The first story is a second chance romance by Eason where the main female character has a stalker. As they are separated from the main lodge by an avalanche the main female character realizes her stalker is with her and might just be someone she thought was a friend.
The second story is a friends to more romance. This one is a bit longer and more involved but the story has quite the twists and turns packed into the novella.
I enjoyed the narration of the audiobook. I also liked the length of the books and the snowy setting. This book is definitely a good winter read. It's not a holiday story, just a good set of romantic suspense stories set in winter at a remote lodge.
Thank you to Recorded Books Media and Netgalley for the opportunity to listen to an audiobook ARC of this book. All opinions expressed are my own.
Colorado setting which made it even more interesting for me as a Colorado native.
This was a thoroughly entertaining dual-story audiobook that blended suspense, romance, and mystery in a way that kept me engaged from start to finish. With strong elements of whodunit, stalking, isolation, and the powerful lengths we’ll go to for love, both stories delivered steady tension and emotional depth.
The icy settings added an extra layer of atmosphere, creating a chilling backdrop that heightened the suspense and sense of danger. The narration was excellent, bringing each character to life and making the story even more immersive.
If you enjoy suspenseful love stories with twists, emotional stakes, and a cold, creepy edge, this audiobook is definitely worth the listen. A solid 3 stars for an engaging and well performed ride. ❄️📚
Lynette Eason and Dani Pettrey bring you two edge‑of‑your‑seat stories, each wrapped in danger, emotion, and a wintery whiteout caused by an avalanche on opposite sides of the mountain. What they deliver is a double dose of tension, heart, and survival.
Whiteout drops readers straight into danger, isolation, and emotional reckoning. Both novellas stand on their own, yet together they create one unified, binge‑worthy reading experience. From stalkers and shadowy enemies to second‑chance romance and forced‑proximity sparks, this collection hits all the right romantic‑suspense notes.
If you love snowbound adventures, high stakes, and heroes who fight just as fiercely for love as they do for survival, this is a must‑read addition to your TBR.
“Whiteout” from Lynette Eason and Dani Pettrey is fantastic! Book 1 “Buried in Secrets” by Dani was full of intrigue from the very beginning! You can feel the avalanche occurring with Joel and Cassie and the wedding party - lots of characters! You don’t really know who did it until the very end. Lots of twists and turns throughout the story. Great book with intrigue, romance, and winter sports.
“Snowbound Secrets” was set on the other side of the mountain and avalanche. Gideon and Maya were a great team in this book dealing with life issues. You don’t know who the bad guys are until near the end. Loved all the details of the lodge and cabins, and how the story flowed. Can’t wait for the next book to come out this summer to learn more about Maya’s and Gideon’s ranch!
Both stories are great and keep you reading to see who possibly did it!
Here’s an adventurous set of two novels that occurred during an avalanche in Colorado, each happening on the opposite side of the mountain. There’s twist and turns and surprising action and thrills while the characters work out their faith and the relationships that they once had.
This was an audio version, and though I enjoyed some of the action and intensity and that it was a clean thriller, there was some shocking events that happened. As well as the second novel being a little bit on the cheesy side in my opinion. The audio was well done but again some of the sounds and the audio were on the cringe side.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this audio advanced copy. I’ve given a honest review in exchange for this audiobook..
Whiteout is a duel second chance romantic suspense Novella. Both stories occur after an avalanche on opposite sides of the same mountain. Great narration by Natalia Payne. Buried in Shadows by Dani Pettrey. Has Cassandra returning for her best friend’s wedding after leaving Joel because of a stalker who also follows her there. Snowbound Secrets by Lynette Eason has Dr Maya who served and has PTSD and inherits land that she will use for Veteran’s in need. Someone has targeted her but she doesn’t know who or why but her childhood crush who is Ex special ops Gideon is there to help. Keeps you guessing who is after her. Thank you to #NetGalley and #RB Media for this Arc. This is my honest review. Releases Feb 3, 2026
Thank you so much for accepting me to receive this audio book! I was pleasantly surprised to find two books in it!
This is my first time listening to fiction that is also Christian and have been looking for some books like that so I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to engage with this.
It was an enjoyable listen, I thought the plot was fresh and exciting. I didn’t see any of the plot points coming so I was glad to be surprised and that it wasn’t predictable as some books can be.
If I could’ve had anything it would’ve maybe been to see more interaction with the “bad guy” so the shock factor would be greater. Also, I think it would be cool to have a prologue that starts like “I can’t believe I just left him there…” (a little about the wedding day). But overall I enjoyed, thanks!
This is two great novellas both based around an avalanche. The first is Buried in Shadows by Dani Pettrey which is a locked room thriller as one small group of friends has to take shelter in an abandoned lodge. The only problem is that one of them is a killer. The second is Snowbound Secrets by Lynette Eason which has a larger group of people cut off by an avalanche. I want to say thank you to NetGally for giving me the opportunity to review this ARC. There are two books in one in this collection book and I will be sharing my honest opinion on both.
To start off the first book had suspense right from the beginning. With Multiple POV’s I’ll have to admit this one was my favorite out of the two. With thrilling twists and a good ending that kept you guessing. It was well written and will keep you intrigued. 5/5⭐️
The second book started a little slower on the mystery and suspense but overall came back about 30% through. It was interesting and kept me wondering who/ whom it could’ve been. 4/5⭐️
