I thought surviving the war was hard. Turns out, being a celebrity war hero at magic school comes with its own unique challenges.
Just when I was getting comfortable with my new life at Stoneway Academy, the monsters in the Shadow Wood of Misery decided to get a lot more aggressive, and I can't help but feel like it's my problem to deal with.
My social situation has gotten... complicated. My vampire obsessed roommate still insists I'm undead, my demon familiar keeps plotting world domination through the most questionable means necessary, and now I've got to figure out with a certain bossy dragon-girl who claims to hate my guts. Add in a nosy reporter following my every move, and my student life is anything but quiet.
But the real problems run deeper than romantic entanglements and monster attacks. There's something rotten in the political landscape of Caldia, and my girls are getting caught in the crossfire. When the academy decides to send students on a hunt for the King of the Forest, I discover that some threats come from much closer to home than the depths of a monster-infested wood.
Between dodging marriage-hungry noble families and trying not to let my blood magic turn me back into the weapon I used to be, I've got my hands full. Good thing I've got four incredible witches watching my back—even if one of them is still convinced I'm going to bite her neck.
Peace might be harder to protect than I thought, but I'll be damned if I let anyone threaten the life I'm building with the women I love.
Overall not bad, but there were a couple elements that didn't work as well for me as book 1 did. The girls in the harem are not the strongest characters, and some repeated elements like one of them thinking he's a vampire got played a bit too much. I'll give book 3 a try and see if this gets better or worse.
Thoroughly engaging from beginning to the end and leaves you wanting more!!! The slow.building of the MC and the world he and his family live in makes the story so much better!!! More more more
I can see how the end of this book could be the end of the series. I hope not. I feel that this series has plenty of leg left. After all, this is just the first year of college for our war hero. I want to know what happens between the vampire teacher and our hero, will he give in to her advances. Will is harem of five grow? I just know that there are many more battles to win and many more beautiful ladies to love. Please take this series to the entire four years of college.
Disclaimer: I was a beta reader for this book A great continuation to a great series. The evolving world of Warwitch Academy is amazing for everyone's favorite "definitely not a vampire" and his harem of gorgeous and talented beauties, even when some of them misbehave. With new twists and expanding story, the events unfolding here give more insight into the great warlock Alister Blackwood and the forces he finds himself contending with.
A solid second entry with more action and drama. With the Harem introduced at the end of the first book, we get a good view on the harem dynamics in this book. Though, i would like if Hexie gets some character development as well. She is always shown as someone who demands more sex and for comedy purposes rather than developing her into a real member of the Harem with feelings and character. Hope the future books improve on it.
Snagged the second book, expecting just sweet fluff with the cute wolf girl, stayed for the unexpected complexities hidden within along with some very well-made puns and easter eggs. Here's hoping book 3 is just as fun or wilder, seeing as a certain vampire teacher is sure to fall soon.
While it still had a lot of the magic the first had that made it so great, this story felt much more rushed. The interactions were great, but Ashlyn felt rushed and the climax was obvious and fell a little flat. Still love the series and I hope for more. The romance in this is really top tier and the spice hit for sure.
I really enjoyed reading this book. Once I started reading I couldn't stop. The book was funny and engaging. The story and characters were incredibly interesting and entertaining. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens next. This book and series are definitely worth checking out.
The blending of so many diverse personalities is a work of art. The astute analysis of the military and public relations by the main character is very on point. The weaving of the plot and individual needs and wants of the characters is expertly handled. Bring on Book 3!
All around, a great book. I think what really sets this series apart is that all the FMC have such strong, interesting personalities. They all work very well with our MC, and its a great ride throughout the entire book. I'm looking forward to the next one.
Well, done you too. I enjoy this book a lot even better than the first one. I’m hoping there’s more to come because this is an excellent fear. Please keep up the good work.
I think the lack of a larger overarching plot helped this a lot. Way more enjoyable to read. The LI's can be a little samey, I get three of them mixed up. Far more slice of life stuff in this one. The magic system/worldbuilding still feels a litle phoned in.
This was a fun read. The story moved along quickly. Ths main character is growing and the other characters were more developed. Looking forward to the next one
Obviously this series will continue, as this only concludes the first year of the school. I think this book was done just a little bit better then the first book. Each of the characters gets fleshed out just a little bit more. I think that the relationships get better as well. The added woman to the harem is a good addition. In this one the monsters in the forest become more hostile and active against the academy. This is has happened in the past when one of the monster becomes the King of the Forest. It becomes necessary for the school to have the seniors do another hunt of the forest to cull the monsters and hopefully kill the new king.
