Was this ghost written?? The tone shifted. The character personalities did as well (Marcus is suddenly an encouraging happy character instead of strategic and verging on stoic; tarshi saying septimus “has always been driven by a need to learn and understand”… uhh no. He’s a TOTAL head in the sand character, Jalend seems to suddenly see his dad in a new light… a light he’s had since the beginning though? Emperor suddenly shares all his plans when he barely spoke to his son directly before now.). We’ve gone from epic fantasy revenge to a halfassed academy book with the cliche mean girl drama. A lot of the backstory from the previous books didn’t line up. Close, but not right. Like when jalends called before the emperor and surprised to learn they are going to war? That’s been hinted at for the least 2 books and was even announced to everyone at the end of book 3, why is he surprised in this book??? Or Valeria is supposed to be a stronger student than Jalend?? Or weird things like WAY more smut for no reason? Or she’s suddenly having a threesome—1 of the guys barely knows the other 2, and 1 of them she’d never even kissed before? Started to feel less like found family and more like open relationships and desperation to escape through sex. They still don’t trust each other out communicate well. Some of the plot seemed to refer to things that hadn’t happened yet… the end of book 3 was a bit chaotic like this also. A lot of editing issues with paragraphs written then rewritten differently but not removed. Then the related internal musings. Or chapters seemed out of order.

My honest opinion is that the last few chapters ruined the entire book and series for me. Livia went from being someone who was selective about her lovers to a woman who let looks and dominance be an excuse for having sex with someone she didn't even know. She didn't even know his name! It felt like a betrayal to her mates. It felt like she became a whore instead of a woman who was in a chosen polyamorous relationship. I don't care if there were mate feelings or not. She allowed him to touch her within moments of waking up in a cave with him, a complete stranger. It changed my entire view of her. It made it look like she couldn't be happy with the relationships she had. 5 men weren't enough. She needed even more and was perfectly happy having sex with a stranger because it felt good. Sorry, but there's no excuse for that. I'll read the next book, but that last "relationship", and I use that term very loosely, is unforgivable on Livias part. He might have known she was his mate, but Livia didn't know that. That's betrayal in my eyes. I'm super disappointed.

I am loving this series! I'm not exactly sure how many books there's going to be, but I am loving them.
Book four followed straight on from the end of book three, and the absolute drama that was this book?! Craziness!
There are plenty of ups and down, emotions, drama, action, battles, revelations - and it was really fun to read.
I love all the main characters in this story/series. They're all beginning to mesh well together, but obviously there is a lot of drama still, in their part of the world.
It ends with another little cliffhanger, but I can't wait to see what comes next!

Whhhwhyyy is it over already?! I CANNOT wait for book 5. This series is so freaking good, and I love it so much. I keep thinking “another one really”, (iykyk) but omg it’s fucking perfection, I wouldn’t change a thing and I’m just so obsessed. Livia is such a badass character, and these men 🔥🔥🔥🔥 Gladiators, dragons, war, shadow magic?! What else does a girl need?? If you haven’t read this series, I would 100000% recommend it. I cannot get enough.

Best Dark Romantacy yet!! This series is sooo amazing! We got a full plot, lots of action, dragons and so much steam!! This book has so many different emotions throughout the entire book. I cannot get enough of this book series!! Obsessed!! Can't wait until the next book drops!

We have plot, dragons, battles, shadow magic and spice. What more could you ask for?
This series keeps getting better and better. I can’t wait for the next book. So many emotions. Another cliffhanger to contend with. Livia is such a badass and her men 🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵
A month has gone by since the explosion at the Storm Festival.
Livia can’t find Septimus & Tarshi. Things at the Academy are starting to get tense.
The Academy are preparing the students for battle against the Talfen.
Antonius is now bonded with Livia including Jalend.
Jalend is keeping secrets from Livia. How long can he keep them from her?
Valeria keeps sticking her nose in things and is causing tension between Livia & Jalend.
We also meet Taveth who is a shadow mage.

OMG I practically swallowed the book in 3 days. I left everything other book, just to read this🙈🙈. I loved it. The story is packed with action, supsense, emotions and not to forget a 7th mate🙈🙈🥵🥵🥵🥵. The twist was such a pleasant surprise. I can't wait to see how tye last book will unfold.
