Sara lives on Key Largo, a place she knows she should have left after the last hurricane but a place she can’t quite walk away from. When warning sirens go off she fears for the safety of her home more than anything else, that is until she realizes that something much more than severe weather is heading her way. When her own government blows up the only escape to the mainland and her neighbors begin to attack one another, Sara learns she can only depend on herself. With the help of her uncle and Cameron, a National Guard Soldier helping her along the way she is now on the run for her life. Harsh realities that she never thought she would have to face are now part of her life. Will she always be on the run and wondering what might have been?

Code Black Author Sheri Velarde

Code Black is a chilling novella, were there is an outbreak of some kind that turn people from normal humans into something dark and out of control. Very few people were unaffected and we follow those as they try and survive. Do they make it? You'll have to read this story to find out.

I found this story chilling and yet the characters were really likeable and in such a short time they became character that as a reader I wanted to follow to the end. There was one part in the story that made me feel so sorry for Sara and Cameron over the choices and promises they made. This novella was really well written.

Over all this was a really chilling and gripping novella. I would recommend this if you like great characters and human creatures out for blood.
