Book 1 of the 4-book series The Stark Affair by Skylar Cross
Colton Stark is filthy rich. A billionaire playboy who drives fast and plays hard, he enjoys an endless stream of party girls at the South Beach nightclub he owns.
But behind his chiseled face and tall muscular frame, Colton Stark is a man with a dirty secret. Not only is he on Miami-Dade Police Department's list of suspected narcotics traffickers, his devotion to the mysterious Talon Group is leading him to a fateful and permanent decision.
Tough girl cop Sofia grew up on the mean streets of Miami, unafraid to kick anyone's ass. When asked to investigate Colton, she doesn't even consider it a challenge.
Until she comes face-to-face with his penetrating blue eyes.
After a steamy meeting, Sofia finds herself playing a dangerous but sexy game with her own principles.
WARNING: My books are the raw, unfiltered vision of a slightly schizophrenic, sex-obsessed, vodka-swilling "living contradiction" with profanity issues. They are often unrealistic (translation: FUN) depictions of what life would be like if erotic romance fantasies came true, so sometimes... gasp!... things happen that aren't "realistic". (You know, kind of like how dull boring everyday life is realistic. Seriously, do you want to read about that?) If you are offended by the excessive use of dirty words, crass descriptions, or crude stream-of-consciousness writing laced with potty-mouthed expressions and graphic descriptions of non-traditional carnal delight, then you need to RUN from my writing right now! Don't say you weren't warned. (Oh, and you'd better be over 18! Don't even think about buying my books if you aren't.)
Approximate length: 16,000 words (a novella)
Book 2 is now available: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00OYTK02Q
I love dark, mysterious, and deviant. Powerful dominant alpha males with troubled pasts who find strong but unfulfilled submissive women. Both need to escape the "rules" of society (just like me... haha.) Together they make hot steamy delight and fill in each other's damaged parts. This is me. This is what I write. Hope you like it.
Sofia is asked to get close to Colton who is suspected of some illegal activity. Being a police officer is all that Sofia has wanted to be and she knows that that her attraction to the rich playboy is not the ideal circumstances for her to complete her task.
Colton has something up his sleeve. He may not be acting within the law but something about him makes you think his sins are far less than that of those around him. When Sofia walks into Heat he knows in an instant what she’s there to do. But he doesn’t seem to care.
Well I went into this excited and unfortunately that is not the way I exited. I found it difficult to find anything about Sofia that I could like. She was a little over the top and add in a few things like , it made it really difficult to like her at all.
I felt like there wasn’t any continuity between parts of her inner thoughts and dialogue, the numerous zings to describe her physical reaction to seeing an image of Colton did not match the masculine ways she acted in all other areas. She just seemed out of place. Too extreme at times and a bit stereotypical.
When I read a story I like to put a face to the characters. I want the author to paint a picture with their words that creates an image in my head of them. Unfortunately we got little in the way of those details, but rather were told who they looked like. I don’t want to be told that he looked like David Gandy. I want to hear the descriptions that would lead me to envision him in my own head. There was also a little thing of crotch sniffing. Okay Gross. Smelling her arousal... that works. Putting your nose in between her legs and sniffing... nope. Again, this gave me an image that distracted me from the book.
I didn’t get a chance to really get a feel for Colton. Usually I can ignore the heroine and focus on the hero, but in this case Sofia was just a mess that I couldn’t get past. There was just too much thrown into her character, her story that made this difficult to finish.
I usually won’t give up on a serial on the first book. I get that the story has to be set up and that is the job of the first few installments. But there was nothing for me in this one that held my attention enough to want to proceed. I liked the concept of this story – cop falls for bad-guy who in the end most likely won’t be so bad – but this one just didn’t work for me.

2.5 Billionaire Playboy Stars
Detective Sargent Sofia Martinez-Vallejos is asked by her boss to check into the dealings of Playboy Billionaire Colton Stark, off book. There are rumblings that drugs may be being run through Stark International, but it also seems that young Colton Stark is siphoning money from the business, which doesn't make sense. Though he's the name on the company it's really run by is deceased fathers friend, Jasper van der Graaf and the Board. When Sofia and Colton meet they are immediately attracted to each other. But since Colton knows she's a cop and the one he was warned was coming to check into him, what happens next?
This book started out way too slow. When things picked up it felt like it was starting to get good, which is why I gave it 2.5 stars. It was just a little too late. There was way too much set up. the character didn't even meet until it was 77% of the story.
I like Sofia and think she's a cool tough broad and want to know if she's going to end up helping Colton. But not sure if the writing will improve enough for me to care to read it.

I just could not for the life of my get into this story. When reading a really great story the writing always draws into the setting and plot of the story. I always felt like an outsider not wanting to be part of the world this author created. The characters didn't provide me with any redeeming quality or engaging disposition. I skimmed through the first 40% before putting it away for good.
Sofia is a cop is a Miami police officer. She has followed in her father’s footsteps, even against his wishes. She is a tough girl. Colton Stark is the face of Stark Worldwide, but that’s about all he is within his father’s company.
Let’s start off with what I liked about this book. I liked the storyline. A tough cop sent on a secret assignment due to a possible leak within the agency. She is way out of her element with this assignment but enjoys a challenge so she is all in. A rich, spoiled, HOT man who has secrets. Secrets we get hints at within this first book. I get the impression that they are not the typical secrets the reader is used to reading about with rich HOT characters. I liked Colton’s character because yes, he is rich and has everything he could possibly want but he has this other side to him. One we get glimpses of throughout. There were points that I warmed up to Sofia but I am hoping we get more depth from her in the next book.
Now for what I feel needs worked on in the follow up books. Sofia… I had a hard time connecting with Sofia most of this book. I had a hard time getting into her character because I felt like her character was kind of forced. She is a tough cop who wants to follow in her mentor’s footsteps but doesn’t have the support of the one person who should support her, her father. Her father is “old school” and doesn’t believe a woman should be a cop. It is too tough of a job. She wants to prove him wrong. I felt like she was trying too hard. It felt like she knew what she wanted out of her career but when it comes to her personal life she is confused. She is one minute talking about how she is all about women now but as soon as she sees Colton’s picture it is like she is turned off of women and all about Colton. The one sex scene seemed forced and honestly I think the book would have been better without. As you can tell my biggest issue with this book is Sofia. There were times when I did connect with something she did or said.
This book is more like a serial than a series because each book is short. I will read the next book because I want to see where the storyline goes.
Heat begins when Sofia is asked to take on an undercover assignment off the books. Her mission is to see what billionaire Colton Stark is up to! He could possible be stealing money, and the company could also be shipping drugs around the world. So, now it is up to her to figure out what is going on. But Colton is not at all what she expected, and she also didn't expect to have a major attraction to him either..
This was a short story that is the beginning of a very interesting serial! I love serials and this one was actually quite interesting. Sofia is a little different than most girls. She's not a girly girl, and she's a touch as nails cop! But she also has a few other differences as well. I really liked her personality for the most in the book. I just didn't connect with Colton though. I really didn't like him all that much from what I got to see in the first book. But other then that I really enjoyed the plot, and I liked the characters together. I do look forward to reading more in this series!
A Real Time (Play-by-Play Reaction) Review of The Stark Affair: Heat...
- Great opening line!!! It got my attention and made me want to dig in right away. - I love the name Colton Stark. It sounds dark and dangerous, but also mysterious. I want to know this man. What was it about his eyes that made such an impact? - I totally liked the fact that I got to read about two strong female characters right out of the gate. I got the impression that they were both driven and knew what they wanted. - Is Sofia bisexual??? What?!?! - Sofia was all kinds of funny with her potty mouth. Hahahahaha... - Okay...umm...I was so not ready for the G on G. Seriously! I want Colton. NOW! - Goodbye Kristy! Keep on walking. Now onto Colton. BAM! - I knew Colton had secrets. He's a good guy wrapped up in wrongs at no fault of his own. - Ugh! I did not sign up for this. Can Colton and Sophia just meet already, please. I hope I can push forward, but something has got to give already. - The backstory regarding Sofia's home life was interesting. Hmm... - And it begins... Hahaha, Sofia Michelle! Can you say gut-punched? Whipped? Foot in mouth? - Fight! Fight! Fight! Fight! (chanting and laughing all at the same time) - It's so hot that Colton saw Sofia in action. - No! That cannot be the end of Heat. Well, darn!
And then there was Flame... - THANK YOU! - Sign me up for this series.
On the whole, I loved the insane chemistry that Colton and Sofia had. (I have got to see where this is headed.) I was not a fan of the girl on girl action. It's not my thing at all, and I felt that it took away from where the story was headed. (When I first read about the book, it was for the bad boy, tough girl union. I got that with the primary storyline. The extra sexuality thing was unexpected, to say the least.)
Colton Stark is the CEO of Stark Worldwide. He's on the radar of the Organized Crime Section (OCS) for drug trafficking - his company is running drugs from Columbia - whether he knows it's happening or not. It seems he's also embezzling from his own company.
LaTashia Washington is the head of OCS and she puts Sofia on a secret "personal" mission to find out what it is exactly that Colton Stark is up to. Sofia, a self professed "tom boy bitch cop with a short fuse and profanity issues" is sent undercover to extract whatever information she can from him.
What Sofia doesn't expect is a man that makes her panties wet from just looking at his photos. When she comes face-to-face with him in his club, aptly named Heat, his affect on her is 10-fold. How can this man be a thief and a criminal?
This is the first part of a four book series. Just as you being to settle into the story it's over and time to grab the second part. There is considerable world building that includes Sofia's sexuality, a meeting with her brother, and an out of place visit to her former-cop father. There is some character development but it's pretty limited in Heat. I expect that is will continue in the next part of the series.
Sofia's character is hard and not at all feminine, that is until she meets Colton in person. Colton appears to be nothing more than a billionaire playboy but you get the sense that it's just his facade. He's smart and has something up his sleeve.
The novella is a short, fast-paced glimpse into the world of the Stark Affair series. I found it to be an okay story. With all of the world and character building came a lot of disjointed sections and plot shifts that were abrupt and didn't seem to flow.
I did enjoy Heat - I've read it twice - it just wasn't a stellar read for me.
There is profanity aplenty and sexual themes. 18+ only!!
Sofia Martinez is a cop in Miami. She is a tough woman and isn’t afraid to say what she thinks. She is sent in an undercover mission: get close to Colton Stark, a billionaire playboy, in order to discover if he’s involved in drug trafficking and if he’s been embezzling money from his company. Colton Stark is a billionaire playboy and the face of Stark Worldwide. Although he owns 49% of the company, Stark Worldwide is controlled by his father’s friend and business partner Jasper Van der Graaf and by the Board. He wants to leave the company and has a plan to do it.
This is a short novella, the 1st novella in a 4 part series of novellas.
This is a very interesting story and also very sexy. I loved how Sofia dealt with the scumbag in the club. Loved that scene! Colton’s story is very gripping and I can’t wait to read what he has been planning, what is “The Group” and in what shady things is his company involved with.
Sofia is a great character. She is strong and fierce. She always wanted to be a cop, but her father doesn't approve of her career choice, even though he was a cop himself. She is bisexual and has a brother that's gay. Colton is a very interesting character. He is a playboy genius that lives up to the playboy fame. He is bored with the life he has been living and wants it to change. He wants to leave the country, find the right woman and have children. However, that will be difficult because of Jasper.
I can’t wait to read how this story will play out! What will happen between Colton and Sofia? What is “The Group”? What does Jasper know about Colton?
Skylar Cross wrote a very gripping and interesting story, with great scenes and very steamy moments.
The Stark Affair Book One: Heat is the first book I have read by this author, I was gifted a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review so here goes....
God where to start with this novella length story, well considering its short Skylar Cross has managed to pack in some serious smut lol!!!
I’m not sure what genre this book is classed as but as far as I’m concerned it erotica with a capital E!!!!
Skylar Cross is a dirty, dirty, dirty minded bunny!!!
If the edgier side of sex makes you cringe then this is not the book for you there’s descriptive anal and some girl on girl action in fact id probably say that there not much vanilla about this story!!
That being said there’s also a deeper story going on in fact I’m totally intrigued. Colton Stark is your typical genius but there’s something going on with his father’s company where he is the figure head but is not actually in charge. Personally I get the impression his character may be based on Ironman himself good old Tony Stark but who knows.
I’m really not sure what to think about Sofia she’s an ass kicking cop that swings both ways, she’s described as looking like Michelle Rodriguez. Other than that I didn’t really get a feel for her character.
I’m not sure what’s really going on with Colton and the ‘Group’ he’s organized but I’m sure the story will unfold and answer some of the questions raised during the next three parts.
This book is short and filthy but I need to know what happens next, Skylar Cross managed to write the prefect suck in start to a series. It finishes just as it starts to get good so roll on part two but for Part one I give it 3.5 stars.
This was my first book that I’ve read by Skylar Cross, and I’m interested to see what she has in store for us in her other books.
I wasn’t the biggest fan of the beginning of this book. Sofia just didn’t do it for me and wasn’t the most relatable character. Colton however, I love him. He isn’t your typical billionaire, he doesn’t care about the money, he just wants to have a simple life with a family.
Sofia is in charge of seducing Colton to get some intel on what is going on in the company he partial owns. However, Sofia doesn’t seem to really fit the part of seductress, so she has to call on her gay brother for some help. Though Sofia isn’t interested in trying to seduce Colton, she can’t deny the attraction she feels (though she does deny it over and over and over again).
Colton has been left with partial ownership of his father’s company when he passed away, but has been put in the background and doesn’t really deal with the business. What they don’t know is, he is an absolute genius when it comes to computers and has been stealing money from the company to prepare for a life away from everything. However, just when he thinks things will work out just fine, they decide to finally explain to Colton what exactly the business does.
When Sofia and Colton meet, you can feel the sexual tension between them and you know that once they finally get together it’s going to be hot. Now the question is, when or will this ever happen?
I feel the this book could have had a little bit more details to connect us more to the characters, but I was still intrigued to see what happens next with them at the end. Though I’m not the biggest fan of Sofia, I’d still like to see what happens between herself and Colton in this series.
It is always difficult for me to review the first book in a four part novella series because there are always three ways it can go.
1. I love it and can't wait for the other books. 2. I like it, but will most likely not read the others. 3. I see the potential of a great story that is just on the verge of becoming something good.
The Stark Affair: Heat is the third. I will admit that there were parts of the book that I felt were a little forced, but this is only the start of the story.
In this book we meet a smart ass cop and a not-so-stupid billionaire playboy. The two could not be more different, but as we all know, opposites sometimes do attract.
To me, the best parts of this novella are the moments that the author creates that have nothing to do with sex. The interactions with Sofia and her family, her joking with her former police partner, how she dealt with a guy at the club who is trying to hit on her, and how Colton has conversations within his head about his plans...these are the parts of the book that made be flip page from page.
All the elements are there. The sexual tension, the possibility of illegal activity, and the plan that Colton is ready to set into motion. The stage is set and all we have to do is wait and read.
***This rating is based on the fact that I believe that the next 3 novellas with live up to the moments that I have read in this book. While reading the excerpt in the end for book two gave me the feeling that things were going to start to get good.***
Colton Stark has it all. He's filthy rich, he's good looking, he has women falling at his feet for a chance to spend one night in his bed, and he's exceptionally smart having graduated at the top of his class at MIT. But Colton Stark has been tired of his life for a long time. He only owns 49% of his empire, his father having left the rest of the company in the hands of the board. Colton has a plan that no one can find out about.
Sophia grew up in the streets of Miami. Her great grandfather, grandfather, and father were cops before her and it was only natural that Sophia followed in their footsteps much to the dismay of her father. Sophia is not afraid of a challenge and to stand up for herself and those in need, she makes the perfect cop. Her next challenge? Find out what Colton Stark is up to.
He may be super smart, but he's suspected of being a trafficker and stealing money from his company. Her job is to get as close as she can to him and find out what he is hiding. There's just one problem... she wasn't expecting her attraction to Colton.
This story was interesting. In the first part, we meet both Colton and Sophia and what happens before they meet and the first night they meet. The only issue I had with this story was that since it is told in four parts, not much actually happens in the first part. I can't wait to read the next part when it comes out, but it just kind of leaves you hanging there in need of something more than what the first part offered. Because of that, I give it 4 stars.

Sofia is sent undercover to find out if Coltan Stark knows anything about the millions of dolars that have gone missing from his company, and if he knows anything about the seedier side of said business. But Colton is not just a pretty face, and Sofia is busted.
I have to say, I am not a fan of this new trend that is about, short instalments, several for a piece of work that could have been a decent full length novel. 35 minutes it took to read this. I NEED MORE!!
Told in the first person, from both Sofia and Colton, each change is headed, and was from chapter to chapter.
We meet Sofia, then Colton, then they meet. the end! Okay, so other stuff happens, but that is what it felt like.
There is some F/F action, which I really wish there was more of, and some hilarious shopping with Sofia's brother.
I'm trying to be positive, but I need to say it here and now, this instalment thing really annoys! Its not a dig at the author, but I'm saying it here as this one seems to have tipped me over the edge and I cant hold it in anymore! Persoanlly, I would mich rather have a full length novel, than short part works.
THAT said, this could be a good one, as the plot is good, with plenty to keep me interested, had there been more. Will I read any more parts to this?? Possibly not til I can get my hands on them all, and read it all in one go.
A dirty-mouthed cop who thinks she can go undercover and outsmart a criminal mastermind.
A computer genius who's sinfully hot and secretive.
If there were ever a bomb ready to explode at first touch, here it is.
This story is far from the usual stuff. Unorthodox characters, stark situations, and a suspenseful plot all wrapped up in raw language and heated encounters.
To me, a latina cop as a heroine is as unusual as the rich heir who's stealing money from his own company. Those two have interesting stories to tell on their own, and when their paths collide the story gets extremely addictive.
Sofia is about to enter the lion's den to investigate what is going on behind Stark Worldwide's impressive image of success. I loved how she resorts to her brother's expertise to update her on feminine charms. After all, she's a tough cop who shudders at the sight of high heels. It was so much fun to see her succumb to her instincts at the club where she just blows her cover by doing heroics.
I was impressed, actually, by the sheer originality and TV-feel of the story. Colton, the mysterious man with a plan, is as intrigued by Sofia s I am by Shylar Cross' new serial. Way to go!

Sofia is a tough, hard as nails, Latina cop in Miami. Her superior and mentor, LaTashia, asks her to get close to billionaire playboy, Colton Stark, to discover why he has been embezzling money from his own company.
Colton Stark is the "face" of Stark Worldwide. When his father passed away, Jasper van der Graaf, his father's business partner, and the Board gained controlling stock of Stark Worldwide. Colton is trapped in his family's mess. He decides he needs to make a change. He's plotting the destruction of his father's company.
This novella is very short. I could have used a few more chapters to actually feel invested in the characters. I don't like Sofia. She's foul mouthed and too stereo-typical butch female cop. She's not very endearing or relatable. On the contrary, I did actually like Colton. He's interesting. He uses his wealth like most playboys but longs for something more simple. He knows his company is into some shady dealings and not only wants out, but wants to demolish it.
The premise is good but could stand for a bit more "spit and polish". The dialog is a bit lackluster and the characters were simple. Overall not a bad read but not stellar, either.
I so need the rest of this series and I need it now!! This series shows tremendous promise and manages to captivate the reader in a short space of time.
Sofia is a cop sent in on a secret undercover mission to capture the interest of billionaire Colton Stark, who is suspected of doing something illegal. Sofia is not typical femme fetal - think Sandra Bullock's character in Miss Congeniality and you won't be far off. Tough, street smart, sassy and beautiful. She is more comfortable in the gym than the dance floor. This first part is all from Sofia's perspective and her voice is unique and has you empathising with her and cheering her on as she deals with situations in her own unique way.
Colton Stark is certainly a man of mystery but goes after what he wants. HIs actions are intriguing and he certainly has both street smarts and brain smarts which could prove to be a deadly combination. He wants Sofia but will he risk all his plans for her?
I liked that we got the time to get to know Sofia in some detail before we met Colton and we get fireworks when they finally meet. I certainly want to know more about Colton and what he is up to and why. Bring on book 2 please!!
I am really loving the promise this series has in it. This is a fun, fairly short read that is setting up to be a great premise. Sophia is a 25 year old latina woman in the Organized Crime Section. She loves being a cop. She is a feisty bisexual who has just sort of broken up with her girlfriend. Her boss, Latashia Washington, is a no nonsense boss who is as truthful and smart as they come. She has been an influence on Sophia for years, so she knows she can trust her. Something dirty is going on at Stark Worldwide and there is a huge task force working on it. But someone is leaking the information and Sophia's boss does not know who is behind it. She wants Sophia to get in with Colton Stark and see what is going on. But Sophia isn't a party girl. She is a tough as nails, independent chick who would rather wear comfy clothes than be caught dead in a dress. And with a mouth like a trucker, she is unsure if she has what it takes to fake it. Will she be able to attract Colton? And what will she do if she can? Her character is a riot. I cannot wait for book 2 to see where this is headed. It is a very fun read with great characters. If you love sassy gals who speak their minds, grab this book.
I Received A Complimentary Copy Of This Book From The Author/Publisher In Exchange For My Honest Review.
I always find rating serials a bit difficult because of the fact that you're only getting part of the story and you aren't ever sure how the next part of the story is gonna turn out. From what I've read so far it sounds like this is going to be a good series...it looks like in part two the action is gonna start to pick up.
Sofia has followed in her family's footsteps and became a cop. She's tough as nails, likes to cuss, and can kick some serious a** and she's about to go undercover. Her assignment is to get close to the handsome Colton Stark.
Colton Stark is a billionaire who's extremely intelligent and wet your panties hot.. He's suspected of trafficking drugs and other crimes. He's a party boy that loves to live life on the fast lane it seems. He's got a plan in motion that has my interest piqued. Parts of it I get right off but other parts has me curious as to what exactly he's doing.
When it comes to women Colton Stark has a particular taste and Sofia fits that category perfectly.
Skylar Cross well done. I look forward to part two of this series.
The Stark Affair Book One: Heatby Skylar Cross is teh first in a four-part serial about Colton Stark, Billionaire Playboy and Sofia, tough-girl latina cop, and how their lives are suddenly intertwining.
Colton is more than just a playboy. From the hints in this first book he has a conscience and doesn't like that his family money is built on the drug industry. But what is The Group and the detonation plan?
Sofia is a tough female cop who takes crap from no one, except perhaps her father, a now retired cop with a bad knee. When she is tasked with going under cover to get close to Colton Stark she is at a loss for how to do it. She enlists her gay brothers help in dressing and looking the bar-fly type and ends up at Colton's SoBe bar, Heat.
This book introduces the characters and gets the plot started but in no way answers ANY questions yet on what is actually going on. Very intriguing and I definitely want more.
I'm not going to lie, I got this because it was free. I'm glad i did because i would have been very disappointed if I had paid for it with money.
Now don't get me wrong, this isn't a bad book, it's just I'm let down.
To start with the male character, who is mostly only mentioned in the book. When i saw the name of his buissness in the first few lines, I just kept picturiing Robert Downey Jr, not helped by the fact he's a rich kid genius with computers and has major daddy issues.
Then their was the sex. Or rather what sex? The scenes are so brief it works against the spell conjured by the characters thoughts.
Finally, it just doesn't feel like I've read a book. I'm a slow reader but i read this in the length of four hours, and it ended just as i was starting to get interested.
That being said, I'm giving this three stars because it's not bad either. I know this because I've finished it, and I have no problem quitting a book, no matter where i am, when i don't enjoy it. The characters are interesting, the female alot more than male admittedly. If you'rre considering buying this, get the other two to go with it so you can continued on straight away.
When I first heard of this book I thought, hmm seems like it could work. After reading book one, I am pleasantly surprised by how much I liked it.
Most of the book revolves around Sofia. How she grew up knowing she wanted to be a cop, her relationship with her parents and brother and how she has moved up the ranks in the department.
Then we meet Colton Stark, the billionaire that just happens for smoking hot! He learn very little about his childhood but we do get the basic rundown of his relationship with his father. We also get to know a little about his plan that he is setting into motion that will take down his company; frankly he is just the face and do not have any real say into everyday business decisions.
When these two meet, sparks fly and possible even the world stops turning. Colton immediately knows that Sofia is a cop, but he is intrigued by her attitude towards him and needless to say, he is entranced in her beauty. Their banter is wickedly funny!
This was a quick read but very captivating. I look forward to seeing what Colton has plans for Sofia!
From the very beginning I was intrigued by the MC, Sofia. I was curious to see what her story was, and what she's like. Unfortunately though, this novella wasn't nearly enough to get a sense of who she is, which makes it difficult to warm up to her. Colton however shows the right amount of mystery to keep the 'mysterious billionaire' aspect, even though you get a chance to read from his point of view as well (which I like). I think I could do with a bit less... profanity, but overall this novella hits the "hot, sexy, mysterious" mark. I'm not sure I understand why the story is cut up into different novella's instead of making it into a novel: the novella in itself isn't really a story, it very much feels to me like reading a few chapters out of a novel. I am, however, intrigued to find out what happens next.
The story seems decent so far. A Latina cop is set on a task to find some information on a rich playboy that might be involved in some embezzlement and other illegal activities. He's not her normal type, yet she finds herself getting revved up over this sexy man.
The novella is short and ends pretty abruptly in my opinion. It feels like I just finished a chapter, only to find that the rest of the book is missing. I didn't enjoy the excessive use of foul language, but this is a character trait of the main character so I had to just get over it. The book is definitely an erotic tale for adults only. Very descriptive and steamy. I would like to see what happens next.
I would recommend this to adult readers that enjoy a plot with their steamy sex scenes.

Sophia is a cop working in the Organized crime section. Going undercover off the record so to speak she needs to get close to Colton Stark to see how he is stealing money from his own company and what for. What she didn't count on was the attraction she would feel for him. There is more to Colton then meets the eye. He is just waiting for the right moment to set in motion his plan. And until that time what better way then to kill time with a hot Latino women. Sophia fits the bill.
I liked Sophia, she is tough, smart mouthed and usually has no problem staying away from men. Colton is a different story. He is a player but you can feel that there is more to him The story is short it is the first book in the Stark Affair series. So there is a cliffhanger and you can't get a full read on Colton. Just enough to grab your interest. I am curious to see where the story is going and what Colton is up to.
I recieved this novella in exchange for an honest review.
I enjoyed the narration for Sofia. The background is interesting and not boring. Colton didn't get as much background leading to the mysteriousness of his character. He comes off as shallow but smart with little tibbits littered here and there for the reader to interpret. This to me was well thought out.
As far as the eroticism goes, I found it fairly classy in a....well erotic way. It wasn't too vulgar and it had more depth than I expected. They didn't experience intsa-love, thank goodness. I absolutely hate that! I thoroughly enjoyed the interactions between them, remeniscent of foreplay. They were witty and fun.
The author was spot on with colton's character as a rich play boy asshole. I kinda love that I hate him right now.
Sofia is a serious bad ass! Love the badass women!
I am very excited about the next installment of this series and would gladly recommend it to my friends.
Well I'm hooked, Have you heard about this great new author, Skylar Cross? I was sent this book to read, and man it is addictive. Already I want book 2, have to see were she's going to take this story. I too grew up on the mean streets of Miami, back in the 80's this book is well thought out and intriguing. It is Pretty close to accurate as to things that happen there. The story follows a detective with Miami-Dade PD, who is after a drug trafficking ring being that they Her MPD Srgt thinks is being run by Stark worldwide. Just she doesn't expect to feel something for him. But is Stark the criminal, and she dose not do criminals. But is he a criminal? But what if he’s not a criminal and what he wants is To take down his late fathers company. Only time will tell and I intend to read on to find out
I received this book as an arc for a honest review. The author has written a book with a new concept of the rich boy, poor girl theme. Colton Stark is a billionaire playboy who meets a Latina female cop named Sofia. Sofia is a tough as nails bad-ass cop. She has been sent into his club "HEAT" to try to get close to him to get evidence that he is a drug smuggler by her mentor and boss LaTashia. The Organized Crime Unit want to know why he has written a program that has been stealing money from his father's company for years . His blue eyes make Sofia's girly parts "zing", only she is not supposed to be attracted to bad boy possible criminals. Sofia is bi-sexual which was quite different as a story line. I can't wait to see where the story is going with Colton's Group which is mentioned as where he is putting the stolen money. All in a all a good enjoyable short read.
Heat is a book that you want to be able to read all at once, because let me tell you I couldn't put it down! Sophia is a cop and she is sent into the undercover world to try and solve a case, but she didn't count on the complications of her personal feelings for one sexy man named Colton getting in the way! Sophia is written as a strong female lead and she knows what she wants and how to get it! I love a story that features a strong lead such as her, that isn't just strong on the outside, but on the inside as well! The plot moves along at a brisk pace and I never felt like I was getting lost, I love that about action stories! Love this book and I can't wait to read more from the author! ~Dowie
First time reading this author, and it was QUITE the ride!!!!
Sofia is a cop. I liked Sofia's kicka** attitude. She is smart, funny, witty. sarcastic and the inner dialogue is a hoot! I am rooting for her.
Colton is a billionaire. oh boy. I mean, ohh you baaaaad boy!!! He is a smart, sexy, cocky billionaire..... and I wasn't turned off by his attitude. He seems like there is a good guy inside him, trying to get out. I am REALLY intrigued by the plan he has in the works.
The only issue I have with this, is the length. It is short, and not sweet lol but that doesn't mean I didn't enjoy it.
