Butterflies dancing in her tummy, palms moist, cheeks flushed, she quaked in her boots. Dana Lawrence was smitten from the moment she caught glimpse of Marshall Davenport's intoxicating smile. A cool guy in command of his space, unlike any she had ever met, Dana was entranced.
Foregoing her intuition and refined upbringing, she dove into the murky sea of Marshall's love. Even better, he sought after her as his. However, when the winds change and the dust begins to settle, passion becomes pain with the wave of a hand.
Wow.... what happened? Reading the first book in the Davenport series was interesting. I never read any thing by this author and I just could not put this book down. I was so caught up in this story turning the pages I didn't even realize that I was finished. Now I need book 2 to know what happened. I did not realize the things in the beginning with Marshall. I really was looking for a different outcome, but the story was really exciting to read.
Thanks for this book I know someone out there needed this book to know they're not alone MArshall and Dana was too toxic. Although I've never experienced abuse I'm not naive to think it's not happening I wish women and men will come forward and speak up and get help I'm happy Dana finally left but to me she took too long, I'm curious to know what happened to MArshall was he brought… The book ended too abrupt I hope there's a continuance
"Regret makes for wet pillows and if you lay with it at night, it'll soil your sheets." Dana and Marshall's story paints a picture of their beginning and their ending. Dana experienced some much at the hands of Marshall. The only bright spot was Mercy Grace. This was a well written story that maintained my attention right from the start. I finished this in one sitting. Kudos to the author for a job well done
I enjoyed Marilyn's wise words at the beginning of each chapter. Although she could be harsh at times, her advice to Dana held merit. Good content as the storyline held my attention and kept me reading as Dana and Marshall's situation was told. I am looking forward to reading Mercy's story
This story was about Dana Lawrence. Dana was raised in a strict household and was loved by both of her parents, but as always she wanted more. She first met Marshall at a friends party and never spoke to him again until two years later. That's when they had a relationship but it put her and her parents relationship on the line, then eventually it was severed. Dana and Marshall had a difficult relationship but Dana was in love so she didnt see the wrong in him. They than bought a child in the world and she still dealt with him for the sake of their child. This story touched on what every woman goes through when they are with the wrong man, but they love them and they feel they are the right man. What I did like was that even though Dana didnt have sense when it came to this man, but she was still educated. I loved how the author told the story of Dana ,but how she always gave little quotes from Marilyn (Dana's mother) that spoke the truth. This was a good read!!!
This story had my emotions on a real rollercoaster ride. Marshall was a girls worst nightmare and he only bought hurt and pain to her life. Because of him she lost both of her parents and dreams of happiness. The ending was so sad. Sometimes regrets come to late and lessons only are learned as nightmares. I give this a 5 out of 5. It was a good read but a very emotional one
Omg!!! I need to know what happens next, like, SOON!!! I was so caught up in Dana and Marshall’s story, I read this straight through! Keep the drama coming!!!
Family Drama. Parental expections plummet with a defiant daughter wooed by a man of deceit. The development was too slow and ended with an intriguing cliffhanger.
For some reason this book was very slow and hard for me to finish. Maybe the characters just frustrated me too much but it just didn't seem fully developed. There was a lot of ambiguity and when I got to the end I was left feeling unsure of what exactly took place. Maybe I'll re-read it in another month and see if it feels different.
It was an emotional story! I was so frustrated with Dana & disturb by Marilyn’s nonchalant & abrupt attitude towards her daughter sometimes. I didn’t like the ending because it felt unfinished. But I would like to see what the book for Mercy brings & maybe it will give me the closure I missed in this story.
What an emotional ride. Marshall portrayed himself to be this nice guy but he was a devil in disguise. I despised everything about him. I was hoping more happened with Charles and who knows maybe it will. I can’t wait to read Mercy’s story.
That damn Marshall! Boy he sure was a sweet talker. And Dana fell for it hook, line and sinker. I’m very interested in reading Mercy’s story! Good read.
