Masked ball to mate bond, a scorching demon x human romance of obsession, rescue, and forever love.
At a Halloween masquerade, Harlow feels a pull to a broad-shouldered stranger who is danger and destiny all at once. She teases him, dances with him, can’t stop thinking about him—but the ball was anonymous. She’ll never see him again. Until he shows up unmasked.
Evander has lived in the shadows for centuries, hiding the monster he was made to be. Created to kill, he never believed love—or a mate—could be his. So when Harlow is taken by the one enemy he thought long dead, there’s only one choice left: Kill. Burn. Destroy. He will tear through realms to bring her home.
A dark paranormal fated mates romance with a possessive demon hero, a fierce heroine, and a bond that cannot break. High heat, high stakes, and impossible to put down.
The anticipation to read this book was crazy but the book itself exceeded my expectations. All I can say is 🤌🏻🤌🏻. I loved the MMC and FMC so much. Evander is the greenest of green flags (stalking aside) and Harlow is a strong, independent queen who takes no shit. The story line is perfect for these two, I love the progression of their relationship and the spice is 🥵. Highly recommend the read and 5/5 stars for me! Can’t wait to read it again.
Edit: Everything about this book still absolutely slaps the second time around. 🖤
** ARC Review **
I absolutely ATE this up. Had me hooked straight from the start. 😍 The MMC, Evander, is a walking green flag in all areas, even the minor stalking. Ultimate Shadow Daddy 🖤, and may have ruined me for potential future book boyfriends. 🫠 And Harlow, the FMC, is the definition of 'slay queen'. 👑 I adore them both so much separately, but even more when they're together 🥹, and seeing how their relationship and bond just blossoms throughout the story makes my heart hurt a lil' bit.
Overall this is the perfect mix of dark, light, and everything in between with a hefty amount of spice thrown in for good measure. 🌶️🌶️🌶️ (Seriously, Harlow, hun, you go girl! 🥵🔥 )
This gets all the stars from me, and I'm looking forward to a re-read already. Sequel please? 🙏🏼
“Mine even broken” is a steamy, dark, and captivating paranormal romance that’s impossible to put down if you love intensity in both plot and passion. This book strikes a fiery balance between supernatural action and high-heat romance, violence, and devotion in a way that keeps the pages turning!!! If you love fated mates, DemonXHuman romances, touch her and die tropes you will love this book!
That said, trigger warnings are important, the story delves into obsession, violence, and darker themes that won’t be for everyone.
In 'Mine, Even Broken', E.K. Moore has created a cast of characters that are wildly engaging and enjoyable to read.
Evander's introduction paints him as a mysterious, brooding man with a dark side; and while that's all accurate, what we promptly learn is that our beloved shadow daddy is just the biggest, most awkward simp on the planet. You can't even be mad at his red flags when they appear; his motivations are so vividly clear that they ache on the page.
Harlow is a gem of a woman: brash, bold, and protective. She shines in her interactions with her best friend, Freddie, and in the strength of her voice when she stands up for herself. She is never satisfied to just accept behaviour she doesn't like, and that makes her compelling and a joy to read. You learn quickly that this is a woman who you can trust won't make you scream in frustration at the page - plus, her music taste rocks.
This book thrives in its characters, relationships (all of which serve unique purposes), and setting/world building.
It falters just a little bit in the writing itself. It's packed with little moments that don't serve any purpose: mundane descriptions and unnecessarily specific details that take up space and slow the pace down. The characters kept me locked in, but there were lots of moments where I found myself thinking "why are you telling me this?" rather than enjoying the flow of the words.
As a complaint, this tendency to over-write is a minor one! I would much rather have more detail than less, and the details were never lacking when they were needed.
'Mine, Even Broken' is a complete story that wraps itself up without loose ends or questions. It is a very satisfying and believable romance with a rich, full world and entertaining characters. I would recommend it to anyone who reads supernatural or dark romance - if only because Evander deserves to be loved the world over 💞
I ate this book up. It was the perfect mix of the cutest romance ever (Evander is the PERFECT book boyfriend) a smidge of dark romance and top notch spice (biker helmet? YES)
Harlow is probably one of my favourite FMCs from everything I’ve read this year. I love that she’s alternative but there’s no ‘pick me’ vibes with it. It’s just who she is and it makes her all the more interesting. Also love that she calls out the stalker behaviour of the MC as well.
Overall, a really fun read with a wonderful wholesome ending. Loved it.
I couldn't put this book down such amazing read. I love the chemistry between the main characters. The relationship built up is brilliant. I love the world that has been created, would definitely read more storys like this one. The story is very well written and easy to read. I recommend this book to anyone who loves fantasy books with lots of spice. A brilliant read!!
The description and scene-setting were immaculate and completely immersive. The relationship development between Evander and Harlow was gripping, entertaining, and the spice was steamy and toe-curling. I was completely captivated by Evander's intense allure and Harlow's sassy attitude. They're a perfect match!
Their banter was great and I'm such a sucker for the 'he hates everyone but her' microtrope which was executed perfectly. I loved seeing Evander be a total softie for Harlow. Who doesn't love a broody shadow daddy demon who's soft only for her?!
The side characters were a massive bonus. The sisterhood between Harlow and Freddie was refreshing and very realistic, the way they navigated every day situations together, how they protect and love each other like soulmates. E. K. Moore really captured the reality of girl friendships in real-world scenarios. Everyone needs a friend like Freddie in their lives!
I loved everything about this book, from Evander and Harlow's light dates, to the steamy, intense spicy scenes. The fantasy elements were amazing as well.
This book had me giggling in parts and gasping at others. A great journey perfect for lovers of romance that is both intense and refreshing. A wonderful debut. I can't wait to get my hands on more of Moore's works.
Wow! I started reading this and was immediately sucked in! The writing was so good and the heat between Harlow and Evander was amazing. All of the mysterious and intense twists and turns had me guessing. Her coffee shop and barista puns made me giggle out loud. So incredibly spicy too! What a great read! I really enjoyed this book.
Creating compelling, believable characters is a challenge given the subject matter, but one that's met comfortably.
The spicy scenes build cleverly through the book, so they're not overwhelming for readers new to the genre, while also satisfying more experienced readers.
this is one of my favourites this month, I love the couple, the banter, the twists, and everything. Even the little old lady. Evander and Harlow forever. 🫦🫦🫦
