Rate this book
At State U, the drama department takes cutthroat competition to a whole new level.

Our trip to visit Slade’s unsavory family raises more questions than answers, and even the secret meeting with the Fae Guardians of Bay City didn’t clear anything up. With no new leads, we return to our usual chaotic lives.

That is, until Slade finds a body sprawled across center stage like the star of a the ‘barbarous’ musical they’re performing.

Rialto Beauregard—heir to an old-money families who owns arts institutions all over the world—has had his throat slashed with surgical precision. Now my shy siren’s been cast in the role of ‘first on the scene, first suspect’ and we’ve got a killer with a flair for drama.

Was Rialto targeted for his money, his reputation, or just for shock value?

One thing’s for the final act is going to leave blood on the stage—and probably on our hands.

Who needs a standing ovation when you’ve got a standing body count?

“Suspicions on the Stage” keeps the momentum going with plenty of drama, enemies, and a found family dynamic that’s slowly settling in. I loved seeing the FMC call out the guys’ behavior—it added humor to all the tension. The story is packed with twists, ends on a big cliffhanger, and keeps raising new questions while expanding the complex world. I’m fascinated by this series and can’t wait for the next book.

The second book in the Secrets of State U series is finally here, and I couldn't be more excited! Morgana's family is coming along nicely. Well, except for Kasper. He and Mor are still getting under each other's skin, and I'm starting to feel some tension. I can't wait until it breaks. This was Slade's moment. Not only do we finally meet his family (I am not impressed), but there were also some sweet moments between him and Mor. Lucas and Slade were my favorites in this one. They had me saying "awe" with a goofy smile on my face several times throughout the book. There have been some great family developments, and Cass dropped a few easter eggs, and I can't wait to see how they turn out.

As for the rest of the story, it was awesome. Cass is a chaotic genius, and that shows. This is a big universe. It’s five separate series, and I'm just now getting the overall story arc. The events and theories in this book make things startlingly clear. I'm dying to see Cass pull it off because I can't stop now. It's a rebellion that has so many layers and key players, it's mind-boggling. Someone is pulling some major strings, but the question is, who? In this one, Mor and the gang had to deal with cringeworthy people, campus politics, a stalker, and the criminal underworld. That's not to mention the murder case against Lucas hasn't been resolved when another serious issue gets dropped in their laps. It's genius and addictive.

I loved every minute of Suspicions on the Stage. It had Cass's trademark pop culture references; she almost had me on one of those. The mysteries are adding up, and the final scene was like something out of a Marvel movie, and I mean that in the best of ways. I know it's going to get worse before it gets better for Morgana and the guys. I can't wait to see what happens next.

Suspicions On The Stage: Secrets of State U Book 2 by Cassandra Featherstone. This book picks up where book 1 left off and is a must read before reading this one as they are not standalone and you will be quite lost. The story begins in Bay City where they confront Slade's parents and look for info on recent goings on. The entire stipend is quite a mess and things only seem to get worse once they return home from brokering deals with ageless demons to being involved in yet another murder. Trouble seems to be following this group like a magnet but who in the group is the target and what exactly is the goal they hope to achieve ushering in all this chaos. For every bit of info they gain even more questions arise.
Despite the chaos following them the group continues to build on their relationships and become close to one another, beginning to work together almost seamlessly. As with all Featherstone's books the character and world development is AMAZING! I also enjoy all the little Easter eggs and how she weaves in characters of her other books timing together multiple storyline and arcs, quite impressive. The pacing of this story is perfect but it has definitely switched gears and now we're in slow burn mode as she builds the rest of her harem. The spice is medium. There are a few scenes that are spicy but not over the top and they flow nicely into the storyline. There is plenty of banter amongst the group and their interaction and the story have kept me engaged and experiencing a range of emotions from laughter and frustration to irritation and anger. Featherstone writes thick books but with such amazing stories that they are hard to put down after 500 pages I still want more 😉. That said, I cannot wait to see what happens next. When Iggy finally joins the group with Morgana and Slade I am HERE FOR IT!

⭐️⭐️⭐️️⭐️/ ️🌶️🌶️🌶️

Picking up right where book 1 ended, Suspicions on Stage, by Cassie Featherstone immediately throws readers into the action that the State U series introduced earlier. Cassie never lets readers down with her strong and fierce FMCs. And with each character added, it is evident that Cassie puts so much thought into creating her characters and their development. Nothing is done by accident and I love that Cassie is not afraid to be boisterous in her books.

There is so much going on within the State U universe, it is beyond impressive that Cassie doesn’t only keep all the storylines organized in her own head, but makes everything flow together and make sense to keep the reader fully engaged. Each story in the 5 interconnected series gives more answers to questions asked, but creates 10 new questions in its place.

One of the first things that caught my attention in Cassie’s writing is her voice. Not just in her worlds, but uses her writer’s voice to voice things needed in the real world. It is easy to read between the lines. Also her use of pop culture references in every one of her books highlights her creative talents. With Cassie you know the storyline is going to get worse and worse for our characters before it gets better, but each read is worth getting closer to the end goal!

As always, review any author notes before reading.

“Suspicions on the Stage” is the second book in the State U series, and it feels as if enemies and adverseries just keep on falling from the skies. Seriously, these people just can’t catch a break. Luckily the troubles between the different people in this new found family / polycule are slowly settling down. Some of them still have a way to go, stubborness seems to be a theme here, but we are gradually getting there. And I have to say it’s quite fun to see the fmc say what I’m thinking about some of these men’s behaviors. I can’t wait to see the moment one big bad dragon will finally give in…

This second book in the series starts of strong, and ends on a strong cliffhanger as well. A lot is happening, but every answer we gets seems to lead to more questions. Honestly, at this point I don’t know where this story will ultimately lead to. With three more books to go a lot is possible, and the links with the other series in this world only make it all the more complex. I’m fascinated by this world, and I’m already excited to watch it all get together. If you love complex worldbuilding, you’re in for a treat if you come along for the ride with all these different interconnected series.

I’m already looking forward to the next book by this author! They’re fascinating every single time…

I’m not gonna lie Rogue is my favorite. I don’t know if it has to do with hers being more fast paced than the others but I love them all. She’s just my favorite.

I think this one Morgana’s and Kits are just a bit more politically driven if that makes sense. They’re both dealing with problems due to higher courts or royals and things like that. They’re answering to other people. So they have to play the political aspect, whereas I don’t feel the other series has to as much.

If you have not read any of the books in this world, I highly recommend you do. They’re each very interesting on their own level, especially with each female character being very different from the next. But it was interesting watching them all meet.

Morgana I feel is dealing with a lot more of curtain, call fancy political rivalry drama from every aspect she possibly can. She’s someone who was sentenced to being the dean at state u as punishment for what happened with her ex. And it’s been one psychological thing after the next for her that’s revolving around him.

It’s nice to see the character growth throughout each book. I just can’t wait to see where any of the series end up in the end.

Suspicions on Stage is the second book in the Secrets Of State U series written by Cassandra Featherstone.

💜 multiple mysteries
💜 university setting
💜 friend groups forming
💜 secret society
💜 🌶🌶🌶 spice

We pick up where we left off with the last book. We find Morgana and the crew in the middle of trying to make their way to meet with Slade’s family. They need more information on why things may be happening or what may be driving the things happening around them. Will they be able to figure things out? Will they come together as a family group? Will anything else happen that will make it hard to move forward?

This was a good addition to this series and the overall storyline that will completely connect several series together. I like how we get more character building with each person. It makes the storyline so much richer. We Also see some characters from other storylines pop up near the beginning of this book. I love how we are starting to see some of this coming together. This book does end on a cliffhanger and I can’t wait to see what will happen next.

Another captivating installment of the literary labyrinth Cassandra Featherstone continue to weave. I love how three of her series continue to swirl around each other with just enough crossover to keep it intriguing while also hinting at other series in the same world.

The action picked up in this second addition and so did the relationships. I absolutely love Slade’s character and his relationship with Morgana. I’m eager to see how the two remaining men get into Morgana’s good graces and if Kasper ever pulls his giant head out of his keister. Learning his back story definitely makes him more sympathetic but even if you are hurting, it doesn’t give you a free pass to hurt others. We could all use that life lesson.

Overall, great book, tremendous author, intriguing plot. I’m constantly looking for a Cassandra Featherstone fix.

If you love polyamorous paranormal romances where the plot is bangin’ and so is the spice 😉🌶️, you’re going to want to read everything Cassandra writes.

I want to be Morgana when I grow up

The mystery behind the never ending strange and bad things that are happening to/around Morgana and her men have me sucked in. I have soooooo many dang questions that probably won’t be answered for a while and I’m weirdly okay with that. I also really love this group of people. They’re all so different and bring different things to the table. I love how all of them fit together, even if some of them still have to work for it. I also really love Morganas take no crap attitude but that she also knows how to rein it in when needed…. For the most part. Lucas…. I wish I could put that bear in my pocket and take him with me. For being one of the young ones in the group he is so observant but man… some of the things he says you just can’t help but bust out laughing, even when in public. I really enjoy this series and can’t wait to read what’s next for them.

Suspicions on the Stage is book two in the State U series and it is so good!!! If you love complex plot and sub plot arcs, world and magic system building, and a why choose romance where each love interest is fully developed with depth and emotion, you will eat this series up!!! Morgana is a three centuries old gorgon/gargoyle hybrid and the Dean of State U. I love how book one set the stage for complex mystery and action elements, and this book really starts to take them and run with it. I also really love that the characters are spending more time off campus in this book, getting to develop more of the State U world. Each main and sub character has to overcome individual challenges and experiences growth this book, but we definitely have room to grow in the next book - some characters more than others (*cough, cough* Kaspar). I can't wait for book three and to see how some of these plot elements play out!!

This is the second book in the Secrets of State U series. This series has a total of 5 books once completed. Because I am a little backwards, I read this book before reading book one “Blood on the Ice.”
OMG!! The amount of surprises in this book had my head spinning. The story, the background, the intrigue and the characters. I love the dynamics when it comes to a pack or polycule. Seeing the interactions among a couple or few as well as the group as a whole. The FMC is pretty unique when it comes to her ancestry and I love it! The MMCs are hot and smexy! And I am loving one more than the others…Of course, it has to be the bodyguard because who doesn’t love a snarky and brooding bad boy?!
Thank you, Cassandra Featherstone, for another amazing academy series. I love your Discordia series so much!! To be honest, I was a little lost because I jumped ahead to the second book. But I plan on reading the first book so when book three comes out I will be all caught up.

I love how interconnected this story is with some of her other series. When we get to see interactions with those other characters I get so excited, it feels like behind the scenes stuff. This book we see a lot of progress with Morgana and her guys’ relationship with her and with each other. Heads are slowly coming out of their backsides. I am LIVING for these steamy scenes and the dynamics that are happening, we love a strong woman who knows what she wants. I’m always anxious to get the next book as soon as I finish the last one and let me tell you it was worth the wait. The different plots are developing and keeping you guessing but our lovely author does a great job of making sure that we don’t have a continual feeling of everything being unresolved. Highly recommend reading this series, and all her other ones too, but as always definitely check TW’s.

Morgana is one of my favorite female leads. I love her combination of gargoyle and gorgon, and all of her men. She has some grwar banter and I adore when she says whatever I am thinking about her guys! The relationship between the men is fascinating, I love how they all protect Slade and Lucas. I also love how Kaspar and Iggy are still figuring things out, but are still included. Lucas is definitely my favorite of the guys, polar bear shifter with a heart of gooey-ness for his mates. They all work together fantastically, especially in the ending, which ended on a fantastic cliffhanger. This world building is amazing, and I cannot wait to see what comes next!

I voluntarily reviewed "SUSPICIONS ON THE STAGE" This was a great interesting, intriguing, mysterious, action packed, supernatural adventure you can stop reading.
Morgana & her men are dealing with so much plenty of questions they want answers to but haven't gotten then theres a murder on stage its Slade who finds the body.
Morgana & her men will do whatever it takes to prevent Slade being blamed for the murder of Realto & why he was murdered.
Was Realto killed for his money, shock, reputation, you have to read a page turner to the end you won't be disappointed can't wait for next book to see what happens with these characters.

I love the worlds this author builds. reading her stories, while there is spice, is more about the plot she creates. I binged this after book 1. book 1 I very much enjoyed the build up of the fmc and I love that we only get bits of her backstory through the book. it kept me engaged and wanting more. I also loooooove that she isn't your typical fmc. she is tall and amazonian. I love the size difference between her and some of the mmcs. book 2 I love that we learn more of the back story and you see the harem finally start to come together (minus a very stubborn a hole) how the book ended i can't wait until the next book comes out to see more of the in depth plot line

Insane drama is a good way to describe Morgana’s life. Trying to take care of an academy, figure out who is killing students, who is trying to take her and her men down and trying to wrangle those men. Her men at times make things better and then they go and drive her crazy. There is some pretty hot moments scattered throughout the story. But most of the time she is trying to figure out what the hell is going on. And don’t forget she and most around har are paranormal species. You get all types and we meet more all the time. Action filled with death and danger. The romance builds as do the actual relationships.

This is a great follow-up. You learn more about the main characters and the mystery deepens with another murder. One of the best things about this series is how different the characters are yet they all gel together. Their interactions are entertaining. I love the cross over with another series. I have read books from a few series by Cassandra Featherstone. While I am not enjoying this one as much as the others, this just means it is very very good instead of great. I highly recommend everything Cassandra Featherstone writes. I can’t wait for book 3.

Magical mystery tour

Another terrifying cliffhanger.
Don't misunderstand me, I love the Ouroboros world but I'm getting a little frustrated waiting.
Book 2 picks up immediately after the ending of book 1 with Morgana and her family attending the Appalachian.
These books have so much going on, there's magic, and conspiracies and prophecy and murder and politics and then falling in love and finding friends and fighting and crap family but also good parts of families.
I really enjoy this series.

Arghhh how I love and hate this author all at once!!!

Previous books from this author I could not put down, and this one was no different. We learn more about the characters and what has really happened that has caused the current events. There are also more easter eggs to their other books in this world, which I would love for a series to be completed but at the same time, YAY more friends.

If you enjoyed the previous book and enjoy your why choose, shifters, magical academy vibes then this book / series is for you.

We do get a cliffy at the end, but hey not complaining ❤️

The mysteries continue in this second instalment of the Secrets of State U series. As the threats around them grow more dire, Morgana and the guys are growing closer, learning to lean on each other and continuing to open up. I can’t wait until they’re all on the same page because you just know it’s gonna to be amazing. There is tons of action throughout this book, and that cliffhanger will have me on the edge of my seat waiting for answers until book 3!

Morgana is back...
It seems so many things are going on in this book, so it easily held all my attention.
With not knowing who trust, new enemies, and family drama.
It was filled with emotional moments, humor, mystery, and action.

The group is overall growing closer, with an exception of a few. We get a lot more on Slade and meet his family too.
The plot continues to captivate and make me want more! Such a great continuation!

Murder Mystery

Morgana and her men are situated in a complex situation. Not only is there a mysterious murder but something that ties the series together is starting to present itself on a grand scale. This series is starting to progress and as each layer unfolds even the cliffhanger leaves me with more questions and I can't wait to find out what comes next.

This book was pretty great. I have to say that I enjoyed reading it. I loved all of the elements. Crime, murder. A great “who done it.” I have to say that I am kicking myself because I didn’t read the first book. So I feel like I’m missing some back story. But this was really well written. I loved all the twists and chaos that this brought. I’m definitely looking forward to reading the rest. After I go back and read the first one lol

This series!! Wowza! We are back at State U with Morgana and her guys. I’m loving their family dynamic. Each of the characters face some difficult questions and experiences in this story. Seeing how each member rises to the occasion had me cheering out loud! I love the snark they have with each other. Even the side characters are a hoot. It’s a fantastic balance of lighthearted and darkness. The ending is a zinger and I cannot wait for more!!

I throughly enjoyed Suspicions on the stage. It picks up where the first book ended and the drama does not stop. I have even more questions now regarding what is going on, especially after that ending.

I love how the relationships are developing at different speeds and I can't wait to see what happens when Morgana mates with the other two.

I am very exicited for book 3.

If you love a plot-centric series that doesn’t scrimp on the romantic relationships (as the series goes), Cassandra Featherstone NEEDS to be on your TBR. This book picked right up where book 1 left off and kept the speed at maximum throughout the book. More trouble coming at our main family group, more mystery, more delicious tension…. My only gripe is that cliffhanger!!!

Such a good read. I love this series.

A siren. A dead heir. A cursed stage.

Suspicions on the Stage by @cfeatherstoneauthor is the spicy, messy, murder-filled fantasy I didn’t know I needed. Think magical uni + kinky secrets + one very unlucky siren.

I love the worlds that Cassandra creates. This series that will interconnect with others has me hooked. I love the fact that we get university life with murder mystery and supernaturals. I love Morgana and her men. The dynamics keep me reading. I see lots of growth for each character and can't wait to have more.
