This book is the intertwined memoirs of two women, Annie Besant and the author, Elizabeth Spring. Elizabeth unexpectedly came upon a little biography of Annie, a passionate social activist for the 'Match Girls 'in England and for women's right to birth control--- and found that her astrology chart, and Annie's, were uncannily they were born exactly 100 years apart--Oct 1, 1847 at 5:39 pm and Oct 1, 1947, at 5:34 pm.
This was the beginning of the synchronicities that radically changed Elizabeth's life and challenged her to move across country and write Annie's life story--perhaps in collaboration with Annie--or at least by doing deep research at one of the oldest occult societies--the Theosophical Society in Ojai, California.
Annie Besant was a woman whose life story was erased in history. She was a passionate campaigner for human rights and led the first successful strike of the match girls in London in 1875. At the same time, she published a pamphlet on birth control to help the plight of the poorest of the poor women of the time, and was brought to court by her husband, declared an "unfit mother" and had her 2 children taken from her. Later, she became President of the Theosophical Society, a spiritual group who could be said to be the forerunners for the New Age. And more...much more.
The author is a professional astrologer, writer and poet who became obsessed with Annie's life after discovering their astrological charts. She moved from Rhode Island to Ojai, California and devoted 8 years of her life to writing both this book and a screenplay about Annie's life. It radically changed her life.
