Kor Flamsdottir was raised in a lab, trained to kill, and discarded like a failed prototype. At twenty-two, she hides in the neon gutters of Solmire—mercenary by trade, loner by design, scarred by a past that won't stay buried.
But when the monster who made her begins building an army of undead soldiers, Kor is forced back into the fire. Old ghosts rise. Friends fall. And the only way forward... is through the hell she thought she'd left behind.
Armed with twin pistols, high-tech gloves, and a signature flame insignia, Kor fights not just to stop a war—but to prove she's more than what they made her. Alongside Jess, a chaotic tech genius, and Tia, the kind-hearted academic who sees through her walls, Kor discovers that maybe, just maybe, she’s allowed to want something more than survival.
A Sci-Fi thriller with teeth, tenderness, and tactical mayhem—Born in Silence is perfect for fans of found family, queer romance, and emotionally-driven action.
Just finished Kor and thoroughly enjoyed it and can't wait for the next one.
So, let's begin at the beginning. We first meet Kor (FMC), escaping a lab where she has been raised. We then meet her again over the age of 18, where she is taking unaliving jobs from the black net to earn a living. After one of these jobs, she comes across a damsel in distress who goes on to teach her how to be human (i.e., bra shopping, watching tv, etc). Whilst learning to be human, she found the black net jobs becoming highly specific and targeting her bringing up a life and a lab she was trying to forget, but they haven't forgotten her.
I honestly can not think of many books. This is similar to the closest I could think of was a very loose Maximum ride by James Patterson, but that was only due to the escaping from a lab. However, if you are a fan of Black Widow (red room), Electra, ABit of Gothem, and terminator, definitely check this book out.
The twists and turns were amazing. I honestly thought I knew where it was going, and it didn't do what I expected at all. Definately recommend.
When my husband told me he was going to self publish a book- I was surprised but he has really brought the character of Kor alive. Influences seem to be in horror/scifi elements like Resident Evil but this is something different to most other stories.
I know he has other books planned- excited to see what he comes up with next!
I'm listed as editor but I was only allowed to proofread parts of it as he didn't want to spoil the ending for me! And what an ending it is!
