First Wave #5

Taming Jax

Rate this book
Jaxson Adronatof had vowed as a child that she would spend her life hunting the evil that had slaughtered her parents and help those like her, who were different. For 15 years, she’d been the leader of a resistance force and one stubborn, arrogant and frustratingly gorgeous alien claiming she’s his mate isn’t going to deter her from that vow.

Especially when being a mate to these guys meant being kept pregnant and out of danger. No matter how much she’s drawn to him; Jax is determined to fight her feelings and stay as far away from the mate business as possible.

For 1400 years, Reven Debreskii had resigned himself to a life of loneliness. As a hardened Valendran military commander, second only to Ivint Torenson, Reven was used to his commands being followed without question. So when he tells Jax that she’s his mate, he’s perplexed and frustrated when she not only doesn’t listen to him, she does her best to ignore him at every turn.

However, fate did not bring Reven to Earth solely so he could be tortured by a mate he couldn’t claim. With neither one prepared to give an inch to the other in their battle of wills, they will be thrown together for a fight neither expected, but neither is willing to lose.

As two young lives rest in the hands of the stubborn, seasoned warriors, they will all have to learn to trust and compromise or none of them will make it out alive.

This was the best one out of the series so far. I see so many different ways the series could branch off and explore other characters and story lines. I'm excited to see what comes next.

I was not a huge fan of Jax’s to start she was stubborn hardheaded and quite mean to Reven in general. In the previous book she talks a little about their ‘relationship’ to a friend and she made him sound demanding and domineering…personally I felt Reven was efficient and used to doing things a certain way he has been a single Pringle for over 1000 years, but I didn’t find him demanding, controlling or overly domineering. However the complex storyline explains a little as to why she is so intense. I would have liked to have found out more about her and Reven past. As both seem to understand the girls on a personal level.
I understand the frustration some have with Laura and her prime keeping things from them. As Reven and Jaxs relationship developed my heart swelled with joy for them and their family however a wept hard with sorrow towards the end of the second half. His entire book is one gigantic emotional rollercoaster down the rabbit hole to topsy-turvy land and it is fantastic

Unabashedly romantic!

Jax has been fighting the attraction to Revenue for so long that she has convinced herself that he is arrogant and heartless. That is until they find two young girls who steal their hearts. Milena is thirteen years old and looks eight because of malnutrition. Bayla is about two and isn't too bad because Milena has given her most of the food and clothing. Both girls have unusual powers, especially Milena, and they have decided that Jax and Reven are to be their new parents.
But there is a traitor to their kind out there who is determined to destroy them all. This new family will have to fight with everything they have if they are to win.

The heroine was awful

It was difficult to like the heroine in this book. The hero was initially arrogant, but then calmed way down for the sake of the children. She had such a chip in her shoulder that she would not allow anyone in and all had to concede to her wishes. She would not even listen to her own beast! Even at the very end, she wanted to know all about Reven's past but did not share her own. Instead if asking him to share it with her, she went behind his back. Enjoyed learning about the children and the spirit walker and the foreboding tone of things to come.

Very good continuation of series

Jax was irritating for the first half of the book with her attitude toward Reven. Reven has an alpha personality but he truly loves Jax. The kids are so sweet and full of personality even the toddler. They learn of something evil in this book too.

Very good

Jax didn't start off as a character I liked, but she grew in me as she herself grew. This book has me in tears and is definitely worth reDing.

I am not sure if I can fairly review this book as I didn't realize that it was book five of a series when I started it. I was pretty lost on the world and the characters until about halfway through the book. The second half of the story was better but I felt like I missed out on large chunks of the history of the characters involved by not having started at book one.

This is book 5 and I have to say this series is getting better and better with each book.
I liked the story, the plot, and the characters. I even cryed over what happen with Jax, even tho I knew she was going to be ok but it still was very emotional. Well done.
