If you’re looking to squeeze in another quick witch x werewolf read for your fall tbr, you’ve found it!
Some of you may know I struggled with the first book in this series, but I’ve loved ALL Fleur’s other books so I still wanted to pick this one up. I ended up really liking it! For such a short book, DeVillainy created well developed characters, and an engaging plot that’s paced just right!
Carter and Rosemary’s banter was fun, they had strong chemistry and the slow burn was so good! Especially given the minimal page count of the book. Carter was so protective! Because of Rosemary’s reluctance to let him in, he had to try to protect her in a more subdued way than his instincts demand, which was even sweeter!
If you like paranormal, check this out! Even if you haven’t read the first book, they’re interconnected but I think the backstory is given enough that you could follow along reading this as a standalone.

Fleur did a GREAT job writing this as a true standalone, but then also hid enough Easter eggs to make returning readers happy (like ME!). I appreciated the references to book 1 characters and alluding to new places/plots in her upcoming sequels. Very well done!
True to Fleur’s writing, we got a low stakes, high tension book. Anyone could easily read this in a weekend or draw it out for longer. It moves along nicely and resolves by the end. Overall, it’s just a really feel-good book! She did it again!
I always have to put in a little blurb about her animal familiars - this one is Ginger, an orange tabby cat. Carter (our MMC) is a wolf shifter, but he is absolutely smitten by Ginger. So you have a cute and funny, cat and dog relationship. Fleur never writes them as a main feature, but they always add to the story! I can’t wait to see what’s next!

Midnight Macarons was a cute, paranormal romance! I was excited for this one as I loved book 1 of the Magickal Morsel books. This time around, we have Rose, a witch who specializes in emotions, who works as an event planner. She's juggling multiple projects, a crazy ex, and then the last thing she expected to come through town was the man she spent one weekend with and can't stop thinking about. Carter is a wolf shifter who has been tasked with searching for a missing teen-wolf. However, when he stumbles into Rose, he knows he's not letting her go this time.
I loved how the characters were connected to those from book 1- Rose being Netti's bff and Carter being Connor's twin. I loved the slow burn and mutual pining between Rose and Carter! Rose was hesitant but Carter (and his wolf) knew that this time, they won't let Rose run. The pull and tug between the two was great. I think my favorite though was the inner dialog Carter kept having with his wolf about Rose. It was hilarious. Also, Carter wasn't just a man who "looked like Adonis" but he also was a biker. That always gets me lol. I'd also say he was 100% golden retriever and I loved it!

Fleur you are magical! I absolutely loved this book! Fleur’s writing makes you feel like you are the characters and living their lives! The details and imagery transports you right into this adorable small town with two stunning main characters. I am so impressed with how this story can be such a quick read (I read it in two evenings) and yet have so much power and connection. The tropes gave me all the feels with this book having the paranormal aspects with witches, shifters and magic that I love. Plus I can never can say no to fated mates, second chances, and “one motorcycle” spice! This is a must read for sure!! Grab it!

This is a super cute read! It has cozy small town vibes, and is definitely a feel good romance. This is going to be weird to explain, but the paranormal in this book isn’t overdone. Sometimes with shifter books, especially mate bond types, they can be so heavy with the paranormal influence that it takes away from the plot. This definitely doesn’t happen in this book. The paranormal is an extra treat and layer to the book (I know you’re thinking, but it’s a paranormal romance. Yeah, but sometimes shifter books spend 100 pages telling us how a pack works, ect. Completely losing the plot). The paranormal is perfectly done in my opinion. That also goes for the spice. There is spice in this book, but not a lot. It is an extra bonus, but it definitely isn’t taking away from the plot or romance. The book is plot and romance focused. The romance is a healthy relationship (which can be refreshing!). It also is only like 250’-ish pages, so it’s an easy read. The magic system is complicated but not overly so. Definitely recommend to those who are looking for a lighthearted paranormal romance!

Carter is learning a different role in his pack and gets a chance to see his witch again while searching for a “lost” (runaway) pup.
This is a sweet romance with a little spice to liven up your day thrown in. Loved seeing some crossover from Spellbound Scones. This is a perfect little treat to read in one sitting.

Midnight Macarons was a short and very sweet read. I’ve had the first book of this interconnected series on my TBR for a while, and now I can’t wait to read it too.
I loved the magical world she created without reinventing the wheel: wolf shifters, fae, and witches in a small town.
A few things bothered me: when he shifts, WHY ISN’T HE NAKED? 😆 Also, the age gap wasn’t very clear to me. But that didn’t take away from how much fun I had reading it!

I loved stepping back into this whimsical world. This was such a cute read. It was so wonderful to see Carter and Rose come back to one another. This was the sweetest fated mates I’ve read in a while. It was the perfect blend of suspense and spice. A perfect fall read and addition to this series.

Midnight Macarons is the perfect second installment in the Magickal Morsels series. Its witchy, cozy, romantic, and oh-so-addictive. Picking up right where Spellbound Scones left off, Fleur DeVillainy expands this magical world with heart, humor, and just the right amount of spice.
This time, the spotlight is on Rose, our witchy event planner trying to step out on her own. I adored her journey: she’s capable, creative, and determined, but also navigating heartbreak after her steamy romance crumbles when she discovers her lover’s betrayal during one of her biggest events. Instead of wallowing, Rose shows resilience and grace, proving that she’s every bit the heroine we want to cheer for.
Enter Carter, the former alpha Rose once ran from in book one after a very whirlwind romance. His reappearance is magnetic. Carter doesn’t shy away from his feelings, he admits that he’s fallen, and hard, for Rose, but his duty to track down a missing wolf keeps him caught between heart and responsibility. Since I read Spellbound Scones earlier this year, I’ve been eagerly waiting for Rose and Carter’s story, and it delivered everything I was hoping for. Rose and Carter just have such a wonderful dynamic, and it’s great to see it from their POV this time.
The time gap between when they first met and when this took place worked perfectly, in my opinion. They’ve both had time to settle into their lives, since they were both making decisions about their futures when we last saw them, which I think puts them at the perfect spot to actually accept the mate bond, though I wish it was under slightly better circumstances on Rose’s part.
What I love about this one in particular is that Rose doesn’t fight it because she doesn’t like Carter. She recognizes that their lives may not be similar enough for things to work, which is what happened initially, and I just love the maturity of it. I feel like a lot of paranormal romances I’ve read recently rely too heavily on the “well I just don’t like him” train of thought, but Rose is honest with herself about how she feels, and it’s a refreshing change of pace.

Another excellent cosy and spicy read from Fleur DeVillainy! I got the eARC for this on my day off, and devoured it immediately, in one sitting. I really enjoyed that the FMC Rose has the majority of the chapters, but that we still get a Carter chapter roughly every 4th chapter.
Rose is an excellent event planner, working her successful butt off, but knowing that something isn't quite right in her life. Carter is a little adrift after willingly handing control of the pack to his twin, Connor, who happens to be dating Rose's best friend, Netti. Rose and Carter had a one-night stand a year ago that told him she is his fated mate, and now fate has brought them back together in a small town, a perfect second-chance scenario.
I love Rosemary, and gods do I relate re: her last relationship, oof. No offense to Connor, but I prefer Carter for sure. I'm a sucker for a slightly bad boy who rides a motorcycle, and is protective but respectful.
The open-door spicy scenes are chef's kiss perfect, and the world of Magickal Morsels is as enchanting as it was in the first book. I highly recommend reading Spellbound Scones so you can appreciate the side characters a little better, but this absolutely stands alone, and you don't need to read it to enjoy this.

I love Rosemary, and gods do I relate re: her last relationship, oof. No offense to Connor, but I prefer Carter for sure. I'm a sucker for a slightly bad boy who rides a motorcycle, and is protective but respectful.
The open-door spicy scenes are chef's kiss perfect, and the world of Magickal Morsels is as enchanting as it was in the first book. I highly recommend reading Spellbound Scones so you can appreciate the side characters a little better, but this absolutely stands alone, and you don't need to read it to enjoy this.

This was so sweet! I'm not normally a second chance lovers trope girlie because the angst is too much for me, but with this one, it wasn't very angsty at all! It was more like yearning that had a slow burn but instalove and instalust feel to it because of the whole fated mates thing. It was a low tension kind of energy that I love in a cozy romance! I also appreciated the fact that, yes, even though they are fated mates, Rose still had dreams and ambitions that she wanted to accomplish and she did them! It wasnt just "oh I met my mate and now you're all I want" and I loved that. But I will say, Carter is definitely a mate I'd bail on my dreams for haha. Hes protective and sweet and patient and treats her kitty cat (not a metaphor but hes also good to THAT kitty too, ayo!) like hes a baby and its adorable. This was a sweet little treat! A quick but fulfilling read. Definitely check it out if youre looking for a cozy witch meets shifter romance!

4.5 ⭐️ rounded up to 5. This is the second book in the authors series, Magickal Morsels. You could read this as a standalone and understand the story but it gives away the ending of Spellbound Scones. This story follows Rose and Carter. I love Rose. I’m always here for a borderline workaholic who is exceling in a career she loves. Half a star off because Rose makes some questionable decisions regarding an ex at the beginning. Smart girls, smart witches, trust their instincts. She ignores hers for a bit. Once she gets over that, the story really takes off.
If you are into men who not only support women in their careers but take an active interest in their careers, who step back and let them shine, who are visibly proud and don't hesitate to brag to everyone around them about how amazing their gf/wife is, this is the book for you. Carter 💙💙

Book two in the Magickal Morsals series, this book can be read as a standalone. It follows Rose and Carter’s journey. Both characters we met in book one.
Rose finds herself down a path she wasn’t expecting and straight into the line of Carter. Her best friend’s brother in law. After an amazing weekend together (Spellbound Scones), Rose has never forgotten Carter. But their lives were not headed in the same direction, until now. Second chance romance done beautifully.
With some twists and turns along the way and some bumps to try and stop the blossoming romance, these two are just drawn to each other and nothing will get in their way. Carter’s protectiveness is delicious and the way he stops at nothing to keep her safe draws you in.

Magickal Morsels is the coziest, witchy series and I can't get enough! Midnight Macarons is the second book in the series and it was just as delightful as the first book. I dare say I enjoyed it a smidge more. It's told in dual pov and follows the MCs Rose and Carter. I'm a sucker for wolf shifter stories, so this one has me giddy. It's also quite steamy which I luved as well. The tension and chemistry between the MCs heats through the pages. The " mine" aspect had me ferral. This book had an entertaining and heartfelt storyline, cozy vibes, and delicious romance. I wanted it to be longer. If you are looking for a quick cozy, read, give this series a try.

A great, steamy second chance
I love Rose and Carter! Their banter and back and forth! And then tension! They had a steamy weekend in the past, but with two very different lives they had to leave each other behind. But they never forgot about each other or truly moved on. Fate has them running into each other again, needing each other's help. For Rose, everything starts going wrong and Carter is there like a knight in shining armor. He truly saves the day for her over and over. They both admire each other so much, neither want to impose on one another's life but they realize that they never really stopped wanting each other. I loved the plot, the twist and how they find their ways back to one another. It was sweet, spicy, funny and even had a little mystery to solve. Rose is feisty, independent and intelligent. Carter is strong, obsessive and protective while still being patient and respectful of her boundaries. I love this world, and we even get to see Netti and Connor from book 1!

delightful shifter romance
This book was all kinds of perfect for this time of year! I love a shifter/witchy romance, and this one fits the bill! Rose and Carter have amazing chemistry, and their banter is just wonderful! I loved the addition of the mystery and danger. It didn’t completely overshadow the romance, and so everything was just well balanced in my opinion. I loved how patient and understanding Carter was of Rose and her fear of commitment. This man had the patience and understanding of a saint at times! Rose was spunky, independent and stubborn to a fault. But I loved that she couldn’t resist that pull to Carter. This book was an absolutely enjoyable shifter romance!

This was so cute! Rose is an event planner and is working hard for the opening of a new place. Everything seems to be going wrong though, and she can't understand what's happening. When she sees Carter again, she has no idea how much things will change for her.
Carter is looking for a wolf pup from his pack to bring her home until she can control her wolf. Of course, running into Rose again is a very pleasant surprise. He has no intention of letting her go any time soon, he just needs to figure out how to tell her about what they are to each other.
This was full of magic and mayhem, and was so much fun!

Rating: 4 stars / Spice: 2.5/5 peppers —- This was a very sweet, steamy romance, set in a world where magic exists, but exes are still toxic. There were lots of scenarios and topics that could have felt heavy, but the book never lost its cozy lightheartedness and was very light on angst. 4 ⭐️ perfect quick read about a witch x werewolf for the fall/halloween season! Carter and Rosemary’s characters are very well developed for being short. The plot is very engaging and keeps you entertained throughout. Loved the banter between Carter & Rosemary. I loved the slow burn and the pining between them. Their chemistry was HOT and everything I wanted. My favorite part was Carter’s conversations with his wolf; I was laughing every single time. Carter and his wolf knew they could not let Rose go this time around, and I loved that. They are fated mates, drawn to one another always. Overall, a perfect paranormal romance! 🩵💙

This was an enjoyable witch x wolf shifter romance that has great cosy fall reding vibes. I love a second chance, age gap romance, so this was a story I really enjoyed. Rosemary and Carter were so cute in their attraction to each other as they navigated their feelings. And I love an MMC who is nothing but supportive and obsessed with the witch he wants. This book had a cosy romance, two people finding their way back to each other, and a good amount of spice to keep a reader warm!

While she is getting back to her routine after a breakup, she meets Carter (again) in a little coffee shop and then it’s like a whirlwind! It’s a slow (but not too slow) burn that keeps you on your toes!
