Killian Brooks is running, from the girl he killed, from the blood on his hands, and from the silence that’s always been part of him. Deaf since childhood. Dead inside since that night.
Now he hides in Vegas, gambling with shadows and building a name in the city’s underworld. Cold. Controlled. Untouchable.
Until Charlotte Hughes crashes into his life.
Curvy, fearless, and far too curious for her own good.
She’s everything he shouldn’t want, soft where he’s sharp, bold where he’s broken. But she doesn’t scare easy. And when she looks at him, he starts to wonder if he’s more than just a monster in hiding.
From the very first sentence, this book grabs you and doesn’t let go. It’s fast-paced, action-packed, and filled with characters you’ll instantly want to root for.
Killian, the male lead, is refreshingly unique. He’s deaf, and rather than treating it as a limitation, the story highlights how he moves through the world with sharpness, confidence, and purpose. His strength isn’t just physical—it’s in how he adapts, leads, and protects.
Charlotte is an absolute standout—sassy, strong, and unapologetically bold. She brings fire to every scene she’s in, and her chemistry with Killian crackles from the moment they meet.
Together, Killian and Charlotte share a deep bond rooted in loyalty, trust, and fierce protectiveness. Their connection feels real and powerful, pulling you deeper into the story with every chapter.
There’s no shortage of steam either—the tension between them is intense in all the right ways, balanced beautifully by moments of vulnerability and quiet emotion.
And the ending? Without giving too much away, let’s just say it’s the perfect blend of heart and hope. A tender, full-circle moment that leaves you smiling and maybe even a little misty-eyed.
If you’re looking for a read that blends action, romance, sass, and soul—this one delivers.
For a short story it’s got everything you need dark and steamy. If your looking for a quiet man who’s a bit rough round the edges but a sweet soul then killian is it and a girl who’s sick of being the reliable for everyone but herself abit sassy then charlottes your girl. Without spoiling the end it’s just a wholesome ending for them both. Was grabbed from the start of this book. Great read !
What a great debut novella! Solid characters that tick all my boxes and a new storyline that’s unlike any I’ve read. It kept me interested the whole time, and left me wanting so much more from this author!
