Blackmailing a billionaire was never on my to-do list. Then again, neither was almost getting killed—but here we are…
The day I meet Ben Lyon, my grandpa dies, my life falls apart, and I learn that being broke is apparently a life-threatening condition—at least when a gang of mobsters shows up, demanding money I don’t have.
So I do the logical I go to the annoyingly charming billionaire I have to deal with at the museum where I work and ask for a loan. Problem is… he’s not a billionaire. He’s a con artist who's excellent at borrowing expensive suits. And since he refuses to help me out like a decent human being, I blackmail him into letting me in on the crime he’s planning. The deal? We steal a painting together, and I walk away debt-free.
Do I trust him? About as much as I trust gas station sushi. Do I like him? Let’s just say he’s growing on me—kinda like the mold on that gas station sushi. Am I seriously considering this terrible plan? Well... what could possibly go wrong? Besides felony charges, getting killed, or accidentally developing feelings? (Which, to be honest, would be the real crime here.)
A steamy, laugh-out-loud, reverse grumpy x sunshine romance standalone with slow-burn sizzle between a billionaire with a secret identity and a sassy heroine forced into close proximity.
This was totally not what I expected but definitely a fun read!
We follow Ben and Hannah in this Dual POV, reverse grumpy x sunshine romance. Hannah works at a museum where she meets Ben, who pretends to be a billionaire and wanting to buy a painting.
The banter between Ben and Hannah is great: "I mostly like art because it's nice to look at and doesn't talk to me."
Then unexpectedly Hannah's grandfather dies and she gets a visit from some shady people who tell her her granddad owed them money, and now she needs to pay them back. She doesn't have that kind of money, and decides to ask Ben to help her.
However... Ben is not who she thinks he is, and he ends up being a con artist. She demands to let her in on the con job they are planning and get her fair share.
They start to spend lots of time together preparing their crime. But can they trust each other? Will the job go the way they planned? Or will we encounter some unforeseen plottwists?
Read it now in this: "steamy, laugh-out-loud, reverse grumpy x sunshine romance standalone with slow-burn sizzle between a billionaire with a secret identity and a sassy heroine forced into close proximity."
First of all, when an author starts an email with “hey there, my unlicensed emotional support ARC reader” I didn’t fully know what to expect. Glad I saved this fun read for my Florida vacay! It was a fun poolside/beachside read!
I’m so glad I signed up to be an ARC reader for this novel! I loved the characters of Helena and Ben and was laughing, crying, screaming, and having all the feeling during their interactions! The side characters were also amazing and added so much fun side banter and plot to the overarching story.
I love discovering and reading newer (even if just to me) authors and indie authors and I’m so glad I found @quinnswansonauthor and that she was so happy to share her hard work with her as an unlicensed emotional support ARC reader! It just came out today so if you love a good grumpy/sunshine trope, this is a book to you!
Ak máte radi romantické komédie s kriminálnou zápletkou a medvedíkom čistotným, táto kniha môže byť pre vás to pravé. Možno vás trópy ako reverse grumpy x sunshine, slow burn, druhé šance a nájdená rodina „prinútia“ pridať si túto knihu do nekonečného TBR zoznamu.
Helena Beck má odjakživa rada svoju rutinu - vstať, ísť do práce, byť tam takmer celý deň, ísť domov a spať.
No boli tam aj diery v deji a niektoré situácie by bolo treba dovysvetliť - hlavne tie tajné identity a plot-twisty.
Inak knihu hodnotím ako celkom príjemné čítanie a nevylučujem, že si niekedy prečítam aj ostatné diely série.
Rating : ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Spice : 🌶️🌶️.5 Tropes : Reverse grumpy x sunshine, slow burn, hidden identity, golden retriever MC. Vibes : Grief, art heist, banter, partners in crime, rom com.
Nothing could have prepared me for the rollercoaster this book took me on. There were so many twists and turns, I genuinely had no idea where the road was going to take us next!
When Helena's world is torn apart by the sudden death of her grandfather, she barely has time to grieve or process what's happened before mobsters turn up at her door demanding she pay off her grandfathers $100,000 debt by the end of the month. Desperate and out of options, Helena feels completely at a loss for what to do to get herself out of this predicament. Enter Ben Lyon, a billionaire art collector with a keen eye for detail and a passion for art that immediately catches Helena's attention (and just maybe her heart).
Ben's quirky, charming, and a real ray of sunshine, but he's not who he appears to be. It soon comes to light that Ben is in fact a con artist and is in the midst of planning a heist to steal priceless artwork from the museum Helena works at. Instead of ratting him out, Helena weighs up her options and sees this as the perfect opportunity to pay off her debts and offers to team up with him in return for a cut of the profits. What follows is a fun filled, chaotic, plan that just might work...
I really loved that this wasn't your typical rags to riches rom com. The heist added a real element of chaos and fun and I loved it so much. The more detail they went into on their plan, the more I found myself thinking "You know what, this is pure genius" and getting heavily invested in their meticulously detailed set up!
The romance did feel a little bit love at first sight at times, but we got a lot of fun banter and some really lovely scenes between Helena and Ben that did make it feel like they had begun growing a genuine connection and care for one another during the time they spent together.
If you're in the mood for a romance with banter, high stakes, and lots of mischief, I highly recommend this one!
ARC Review Trailer Park Billionaire by Quinn Swanson is a reverse grumpy/sunshine romance with a comedic, criminal twist.
Helena Beck works as an art conservator, living a quiet, lonely life with only her beloved grandfather as a close companion. Her routine is thrown into chaos when eccentric billionaire Ben Lyon visits the museum where she works. That same day, tragedy strikes — her grandfather dies, and her world falls apart. Before she even has time to grieve, mobsters come knocking, demanding $100,000 in a month.
With nowhere else to turn, Helena reaches out to Ben for help. But when she discovers he’s not actually a billionaire, they make a deal — she’ll forge a painting to get the money she needs. Of course, nothing in her life ever goes smoothly, and this time is no different.
This romantic comedy is packed with quirky characters and crime capers. I loved every second of it — the humor, the suspense, the chemistry — it all worked beautifully. It’s a slow-burn romance with excellent world-building and just the right amount of spice.
Helena is the grumpy, guarded woman with a secretly soft heart and a delightfully dark sense of humor. Ben is the sunshine — kind, funny, and full of surprises. Alexei is the voice of reason, and Elaine is the well-meaning older lady whose "help" often leads to disaster. By the end, they felt like a chaotic but lovable found family.
There are some truly unexpected twists that left me speechless — you won’t see them coming!
If you enjoy romantic comedies with a touch of suspense, crime, and spice, Trailer Park Billionaire is a must-read.
This book is a fun grumpy/sunshine with a criminal twist.
Helena likes to stick to her routine - working at the art museum restoring works and visiting with her grandfather. Her routine is disrupted when an eccentric billionaire, Ben Lyon, comes to the museum asking for a tour and looking to acquire some art. That same day, Helena’s world is shattered when her grandfather passes away and then she is confronted by angry mobsters demanding $100k for her grandfather’s debt. She turns to Ben to find the money, but discovers that he isn’t actually a billionaire. He is a con artist so Helena makes a plan to work with him to pull off the heist. But as they spend time together, Ben and Helena start to grow on each other and they have to decide whether or not to trust each other.
This was definitely a fun read. Helena definitely fits into the grumpy archetype and it was funny to see how Ben disrupted her grumpiness. Ben was so happy and goofy. I did feel that the chemistry between Ben and Helena seemed a little bit forced in a few instances. I did really enjoy the side characters especially Robyn. She was absolutely hilarious and ready to step up for Helena no matter what.
“And that’s the thing with Ben Lyon, I think. I’m not afraid. Not afraid of him. Not afraid of what he might do to me. Not afraid of anything when he’s with me. I’m already trusting him with my life, and now I’m trusting him with something even more precious: my orgasm.”
I have never been so surprised, content, and then surprised again by a book. Quinn Swanson quickly stole my sanity with Trailer Park Billionaire.
Tropes: reverse grumpyxsunshine, slow burn, banter, forced proximity CW/TW: parental and parental figure death (on and off page), grief, violence, discussions of fire, discussions of prison Available on KU
This was my first read of Quinn Swanson and I am grateful to have been blessed with an ARC. I have added her other books to my TBR list because wholly guacamole. When I say that one I was cackling at this book, two this book and its twists and turns, and the SPICE WAS SPICY. (there wasn’t a lot, I think one or two scenes that were detailed, BUT they were hot AF, i wanted to rent an RV) This book was like a surprise Robin Hood, with a mixture of secret identity in more ways than one, a HEA, and a found family. I just really really enjoyed this book!
An art forgery heist rom com with echoes of Robin Hood - turns out I needed this story and didn’t even know it.
Helena is an art conservator. She meets Ben, a suave billionaire, at the gallery when he comes to inquire about certain paintings. When her beloved grandfather dies and her world is turned upside down, she turns to him for help - only to discover that he is not what he seems.
With a cast of delightful characters, an affectionate raccoon, a well-loved RV and some beautiful art, this story takes a whole bunch of twists and turns as Ben and Helena discover their pasts are linked closer than they realised.
This is a slow burn, open door book that adds plenty of humour and banter into the equation. The book deals with parental death, intimidation and blackmail, and dealing with life after jail.
This was a witty, highly enjoyable book that made me literally laugh out loud and read passages aloud to whomever would listen (sometimes just my hedgehog plushie). I would absolutely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys rom coms.
💸 She needed cash. 🎨 He was planning a heist. 😏 So she blackmailed him into letting her help. Now they’re partners in crime—with way too much chemistry. Trust issues, stolen art, and slow-burn tension? Yeah... this might get messy. 🔥 Secret identity 💥 Forced proximity 😂 Banter for days 🙄 + 😁 She's the grump, He's the sunshine
When her grandfather dies and mobsters come calling for money she doesn’t have, our broke, sharp-tongued heroine turns to the charming “billionaire” she knows from the museum—only to find out he’s a con artist in a fancy suit. Desperate, she blackmails him into a deal: she helps him pull off a painting heist, and she walks away debt-free. But between the risky crime, steamy tension, and nonstop banter, catching feelings might just be the most dangerous part. A laugh-out-loud, slow-burn romance with forced proximity, a secret identity, and a sunshine-meets-grump twist.

Fun, Wild Ride, With Great Characters, Plot Twists, Secrets, Romance and a Bit of Suspense
This book was a fun wild ride, and not exactly what I was expecting based on the author's previous books which were a bit more lighthearted, but I still loved it. Both Ben and Helena had secrets (from each other and the world at large), difficult upbringings, and a huge attraction to each other. Their personalities were quit different - he is an outgoing golden retriever who falls fast for her even though he knows he shouldn't, and she is an introverted loner who is especially lost after losing the beloved grandfather who raised her. Yet, somehow they end up together scheming to ward off the "bad guys" and chaos, laughs, and love ensue. The book tugged at my heartstrings, made me laugh and was hard to put down as I couldn't wait to see what would happen next!- Enjoy!
I was sent an ARC by the author and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review.
Trigger warnings: Death of a loved one, some violence
Helena is a soft hearted grump who is content with her routines, job, and spending time with her grandpa. Ben is a goofy, sunshiny billionaire who is definitely hiding a thing or two.
The same day Helena meets Ben her grandfather dies leaving her with $100,000 in debt to some shady mobster types. With 30 days to pay off the debt and no way of obtaining said money she turns to Ben and their newfound friendship, except Ben isn’t really a billionaire, he’s actually a con-artist planning an art heist and really needs Helena’s help.
This book has a great storyline with some predictable - and not so predictable - plot twists and a great cast of lovable side characters.
I recommend this book for people who love a good heist, some plot twists, some spicy scenes, an HEA, and raccoons (IFYKYK).
I must say I've read a lot of weird books this summer. And this may be the weirdest, but also one of the most original books I've ever read. Not only does it come with plottwists that are not just about the "surprise" but rather about showing that's deeply important all through the book: trust, love, family, sacrifice. There's also, of course, the underlaying themes of art, and hobbies, and family drama that's (for once) not just onsided (it'd be rude to just screw over one of them, in mi opinion)... All of that aside, the book is funny, it's got great pacing, lots of fluff, lots of sass and quite honestly the right amount of messiness to make it deserve 5 full starts and definitly a place of honour in my list of books that I remember for something completley random, in this book's case, a little furry baby that may, or may not, have a theme song.
There was so many plot twists and surprises in this book. The main characters, Helena and Ben, as well as the side characters are so lovable and I loved getting to know them. The banter between Helena and Ben was just absolute perfection and I really enjoyed it. The whole story was so entertaining and I loved the animal sidekick. Who doesn’t love trash pandas? I can’t recommend this book enough.

Trailer Park Billionaire by Quinn Swanson was a book that I wanted to like more than I did but had trouble finishing. It had a lot of potential, just wasn’t right for me!
I think that Quinn’s writing did a great job of capturing the personalities of her characters, especially the FMC Helene and MMC Benedikt. Without giving spoilers, though, I was not a huge fan of the plot of this novel. I didn’t think that the idea for the novel was very believable and a lackadaisical approach to crime just felt strange to me as a reader. I do believe that others would enjoy it though!
A delightfully wonderful addition to Swanson's collection. I loved this read even if it wasn't necessarily what I was expecting after reading her other books. Our main characters are Ben and Helena. Swanson takes us on a roller coaster of a ride with twists, turns, suspense, romance and humor. I loved all the characters and the opposites that are Ben and Helena. A well written and captivating romance that has me eager for more from Swanson!

Elena works as a curator in an art museum. Ben comes in for an art tour when Helena's only family dies. Ben takes her to see him. This leads to a complicated and entangled relationship with lots of twists and turns. This romance has a great plot. It is a slow burn that turns very spicy. It is grumpy/sunshine, enemies to lovers, found family and slow burn. Overall, a very fun and entertaining read!
This book was nothing like what I thought it was going to be. It ended up being so much freaking more. I read contemporary, bit it’s not my favorite. I can confidently say this can go on my favorites list though. It was everything I didn’t know I needed.
Golden retriever Touch her and perish Slow burn Funny Reverse grumpy/sunshine
This series is a lot of fun and this book is no exception. All the main and side characters are really likeable. Never thought I'd cheer for criminals so much, but these are some lovable ones. The entire story keeps you interested and entertained. Some spicy bits to add to the fun. And a raccoon!!.

I received an eARC copy in exchange for my ho est review. I would definitely commit felonies if it means I too get a Benedikt. I really liked this story. It was very cute and full of art (I love art). The slow burn and reverse grumpy/sunshine was very well done. I feel like there could’ve been some more development in the suspense part, but otherwise a very enjoyable book!
