A gripping adventure at sea

For the lone skipper of the Galatea sailing yacht in the Aegean Sea off the coast of Turkey, a peaceful vacation turns into a race for his life.

"A dull thud vibrated low as the Russian submarine Slavianka lost its electronic spying antenna atop the tower."

"The Galatea had come to a sudden stop. Avri was hurled forward like a harpoon from a cannon. His head hit the bulkhead with a horrible blow, absorbing all his one hundred and sixty pounds of momentum. He heard the loud crunching noise of the bow crashing into something solid, or perhaps it was the sound of his skull smashing against the bulkhead."

And the chase is on. A seasoned submarine captain versus a sailboat skipper, each struggling for survival, each racing for life.

Meanwhile, the Russian naval intelligence has its own devious plans while the Israeli Mossad has quite different ideas.

This adventure tale, though sprinkled with port and starboard and halyards would be enjoyed by thrill loving landlubbers and sailors alike.

Herzel Frenkel's book The Chase: One Courageous Skipper Battling The Perilous Evil Out To Destroy Him is a good choice for those who love suspense. Avri Keren, an engineer by profession, a sailor by heart sets off onboard his beloved yacht, the Galatea on vacation sailing the Aegean Sea. Having sailed the same waters for 5 consecutive seasons, Avri trusted his navigation, his boat, the fine weather, yet he felt uneasy.

Thus begins a chase that is initiated by a Russian submarine surfacing above the Galatea and embedding it's antenna into the boat's bow. "The Galatea had come to a sudden stop. Avri was hurled forward like a harpoon from a cannon. His head hit the bulkhead with a horrible thud, absorbing all his one hundred and sixty pounds of momentum. He heard the loud crunching noise of the bow crashing into something solid, or perhaps it was the sound of his skull smashing against the bulkhead."

"Comrades! We face a serious situation. I trust every one of you to do his very best so we can solve this problem in a manner befitting a unit of the great Soviet Navy."

Frenkel develops the action with flashbacks of Avri's past military expertise in the Fourth Paratroop Company of the Israeli Army. He weaves his story through mostly unconnected individuals who are vested in the chase and the result is drama and intrigue.

I could not put this book down and will be purchasing more of Mr. Frenkel's books. You can find a copy for yourselves on Amazon at: http://www.amazon.com/The-Chase-Coura...

I received this book complimentary for review purposes. Opinions are 100% my own.

Its not often that I pick up a book and I am captivated right off the bat - but from the moment I started ready I was totally immersed in the story.

We follow the story of Avri, who while on a Sailing Vacation in the Aegean Sea off the coast of Turkey, has an encounter with a Russian submarine! From that moment, "the chase is on. A seasoned submarine captain versus a sailboat skipper, each struggling for survival, each racing for life."

The author, Herzel Frenkel, wastes no time painting the picture of the characters and setting the scene but doing so in a way that he gets his point across without burdening you with too many details. Through superb storytelling, every time you think you figured out what will happen next, there is another twist or turn that keeps you on the edge of your seat.

I received this book complimentary for review purposes. Opinions are 100% my own. This was actually one of my favorite books I have ever received to review. I hope to read more from Herezel Frenkel, he's definitely on my authors to watch list. I highly recommend this book, just don't read it before bed or else you might end up staying up all night to finish it! I couldn't put it down and read it in one sitting.

This book will keep you on the edge of your seat. I love the way it is written. I had no idea what was coming next with all the twists and turns. Sailing never sounded appealing to me before this..besides all the danger involved in it, it sounds appealing now.

Avri goes out on a boat that he loves on a vacation that sounds amazing..but he never got to enjoy it. Before he could, everything goes to heck. With spies and even the government involved, he knows he is never really safe.

I can see this made into a high action movie. I believe that is because it is so well written. I now have vivid descriptions of all sorts of things I never knew about. I could close my eyes and it was as if I was inside of the story I could see it so well.

Very good book I really enjoyed it and well worth the read!

Right now the best I can describe this book is "WOW!" it was one of the greatest reads I have ever read.

When Avri decides to go on a sailing vacation, he ends up getting more, much more than he was expecting! The way Frenkel describes the characters and their surroundings make you feel as if you’re on the ocean sailing along with them! That's all I am going to say about the book. I don't want to spoil it for you, because you definitely need to read this one!

Let me tell you I was on the edge of my seat from the first chapter all the way to the last. There aren't many books that I read that I can not put down, but this one is one of them.

This is seriously a great book and a must to read.

In my life I have had the opportunity to meet and friend several sailors and captains. They all have an interesting story to tell, and lately I've had the urge to read about what how others have prevailed in dangerous situations at sea.

"The Chase" took me on an unexpected adventure, and I was unsure of who would win this treacherous race. The author sometimes uses terminology that seaman often use, but it reading flow excellent and easy to follow.

There are twenty five chapters to keep the reader on the edge of their seat for hours! You will not want to stop reading, because something unexpected is bound to happen next.

This is a very intense thriller. I especially liked Avri who was put in a very difficult position through no fault of his own. The book is well written and easy to follow. There is the international intrigue that makes it even more compelling. I enjoyed The Chase from the first page to the last. I really felt like I was with Avri on his boat. There is a nice little surprise at the end of the book.

Yet another highly rated book that fell flat for me. Short, quick read and an interesting chase with lots of who and why questions asked of the reader. But the whole situation of the story seemed totally implausible, the characters stereotypical, and the writing wasn't very good (but I am no expert). If this had been any longer, it would have landed in my 'quit' category. As it was, I had to push myself to finish.

This is not something I would normally read but I am trying to branch out there. This book kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. I couldn't put my kindle down. I read it so fast because I wanted to know what happened next. I am really surprised I was as into the book as I was but I really did enjoy it. Here's to reading something new!

A hundred and fifty some page book so it can easily be read in one or two sittings. I thought the character development on the protagonist and the antagonist was good. Other character development was shallow. The ending was far fetched, abrupt and just a bit too tidy. It seemed as if the author wanted to end the book as soon as he could.

This is a very amusing story with a small bit of truth. A sailors desire.

This is a far fetched as any story can be but enjoyable. Well I must day it's not beyond mossad to steal another country's radar or ship slash sub, for that has been done without a doubt.

No chaser, this

Too many fortuitous coincidences to make this book any where near believable. Not one worth spending money on, glad my copy was free.
