ARC Review:
Set just before the holiday season, You Suck delivers a warm, fast-paced fake dating romance with a splash of family chaos and a whole lot of heart. Emotionally guarded artist Riley agrees to pose as the picture-perfect girlfriend for Hudson—a relentlessly sunny, high-achieving business owner—during his extended family vacation. What starts as a cash-driven arrangement quickly spirals into real chemistry, swoony moments, and unexpected vulnerability.

Though the characters lean a little cheesy at times, their dynamic is undeniably cute, and the story unfolds with breezy ease. Between the laughs, the soft romantic beats, and the light family drama, this book gave me the cozy vibes I didn’t know I was craving. A quick, feel-good read perfect for curling up with when you want a dose of holiday-adjacent charm and emotional warmth.

ARC Review: No Spoilers
You Suck is a heartwarming story that draws you in with its atmosphere and characters. The key setting is a winter cabin and the descriptors will make you want to snuggle up and read…and yearn for a white Christmas. The story explores love, relationships, and personal growth with a few unexpected twists! The heart of the story is both sweet and somewhat relatable with inner monologue, raw emotions, and mannerisms.

What I truly enjoyed was the multiple relationships that grew within the story. Each one felt authentic and added depth to the overall narrative.

This book gives off the perfect romantic comedy vibes. Two attractive main characters find themselves in a less-than-ideal situation that spirals into the kind of playful chaos we expect, and love, in rom-coms.

We follow Hudson and Riley as they enter into a fake-dating arrangement. Hudson hires Riley to pose as his girlfriend for his family, and while it starts as a transaction, their growing connection quickly shifts into something real. Through meaningful interactions with each other and Hudson’s family, their chemistry deepens until they can no longer deny their attraction.

The book leans heavily into rom-com clichés, but what makes it fun is its self-awareness. The story becomes almost meta, with inner dialogues addressing how “not cliché” the characters claim their situation is, even though it clearly is. It’s a playful nod to the genre, acknowledging the tropes while still embracing them.

That said, the plot often relies on familiar devices to move things forward, particularly when conflicts arise and are resolved quickly, often through epiphanies or the help of best friends. This includes the expected third-act breakup and reunion, which unfold in true rom-com fashion.

Despite this, the story is enjoyable. The banter between Hudson and Riley is sharp and engaging. The side characters add warmth without overcrowding the narrative, and I appreciated that the book didn’t overcomplicate things with unnecessary twists or excessive drama. The settings and interactions flowed naturally, creating a fun and cozy reading experience.

One area I wished had been explored more deeply was the characters’ backstories, especially Riley’s. We only get glimpses of her reluctance toward love and her lack of familial ties, usually tied directly to plot progression. A richer exploration of her background could have added more layers to her character and made her journey even more relatable.

Overall, You Suck, is a delightful, trope-filled romantic comedy that knows exactly what it’s doing. While it plays things safe with familiar beats, it makes up for it with charm, witty dialogue, and a sweet central romance. If you’re a fan of rom-coms, you’ll find plenty to enjoy here.

Riley and Hudson's story gave me Hallmark Channel movie nostalgia with a splash of spice. This book is sweet, funny, and sexy enough to have kept me invested. The only thing keeping me from giving this adorable story 5 stars is Riely, she's great as a whole but I guess I needed a little more detail on her family dynamic to understand why she reacted to Jake's surprise to Hudson the way that she did, and yes, I am fully aware that it can just be a me thing.

This was a great romance read. I’m a sucker for a book with good humor, and I felt like this book had just the right balance of humor and story line. I was invested in the main characters and the side characters, and I would most certainly read future books to learn more about all of them.

Thank you Korey for the digital ARC! I enjoyed reading You Suck!

I read this one in about 24 hours. I didn't want to put it down. The cover doesn't give anything away. It was such a cute book!

I just wanted to cozy up next to the fireplace, with my hot chocolate, blanket, and just read. The book is set at a family cabin in Colorado during Christmas time and it sure put me in the mood for the holidays!

I enjoyed Riley and Hudson's banter. I loved Hudson's family! I felt like part of the family while I was reading. Absolutely loved that they invited Riley in for everything.

Spoons was a favorite game of mine in college! Brings me back. I might need to teach my kids that game soon.

I really enjoyed this one! Korey, what's next? I'm here for book two. Charlie and Beth's story? or maybe Olivia and Harry's. Wait, I mean Henry! 😂 Either way, I'm ready to read whatever you write next.

You Suck

This was a fast low stress holiday romance. Riley agrees to help out Hudson and things almost immediately go awry. A dash of family drama and two meddling friends leads to a happily ever after.

**ARC READER REVIEW**
I really enjoyed the cozy vibes of this book, as a winter girly I was obsessed with the location of most of the story. I will say this is my first closed door romance in a while but the way Korey did it was smooth and unlike some others I read where it was forced closed door.
The way both Hudson and Riley act around each other is so comfortin, the banter and then the yearning. I truly enjoyed reading their story and watching both their best friends playmatch maker a little bit. Sometimes I think it’s heartwarming to start over again and this was one of those books.

Hudson finds himself in need of a fake girlfriend after a lie he told 6 months ago grows out of control.

Riley is hard up for cash and desperate enough to pretend to be a stranger's girlfriend for two weeks.

What follows is a cute, fast-paced fake dating, loathing-to-lovers story that had me laughing throughout.

There are times when the exposition is a little distracting. At the same time the metaphors, similes, and anecdotes are heartfelt and have a lot of depth, so it's a double-edged sword.

The main events of the novel happen within the span of just a few days, and I found myself wishing we got more time with Hudson's family. I loved the family dynamic and the way almost everyone welcomed Riley with open arms.

Overall, the novel has a fun, Hallmark holiday movie feel and you find yourself rooting for Riley and Hudson.

ARC Read: You Suck by Korey Willis
Rating: ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
Spice: .5

Hudson has an upcoming 2 week long family vacation. He lied telling his family he would bring his girlfriend of 6 months with him. One small hiccup. He has no girlfriend. In a panic he hires one from an online dating app. None other than Riley. She is a freelance artist who sculpts and could use the extra money since she just found out she is loosing her apartment and where she works. This story unfolds perfectly and I literally laughed out loud multiple times. Such a cute hallmark feel. My wish is for more!!!!

Does fake dating turn into the real thing? Does Riley keep her apartment and place of work? Does Hudson’s lies catch up to him? Read it and find out!!
