In his haste to return to his family, Floyd Logan made a mistake. Now, his family is threatened, and he must rise to the challenge.
The mountains Floyd loves have been invaded by vermin from the east. While his Shoshone friends and his family follow the direction of their shaman and move north, Floyd searches for the savage clan.
When returning from visiting his folks in Tennessee, Floyd was ambushed. He killed two of the bushwhackers and threw the other in jail. The law warned him of the vicious nature of the outlaws’ family. In his haste to return to his beloved Leotie and Mika, he ignored the warning.
Now, led by their bloodthirsty patriarch, Roscoe Akers, the clan, with evil planned for Floyd and his loved ones, heads for the shining mountains in search of the mountain man.
He must stop Akers and his brood, while dodging the Pawnee, and riding into Blackfoot country, where he has been warned by a leader of the Blackfoot to never return on threat of death. The Blackfoot don’t make empty threats.
Ride with Floyd. Dodge whining bullets and flashing arrows in his fight to protect the family he loves.
I am a retired Southwest Airlines pilot. My wife Paula and I, live with our Chihuahua, Gabe, in Mesa, Arizona in a 55+ Golf Resort even though we don't play golf. It affords my wife a very active lifestyle while I spend my time writing. As a child, I enjoyed going to the Saturday matinee and spending the day watching westerns and daydreaming about the old west. I shared a passion with one of my aunts and read every western I could get my hands on. John Wayne was my favorite actor and Louis L'Amour my favorite writer. I miss those days where the good guys win, they treat the ladies right, have honor and are trustworthy. So, in about 2014, I started writing my own westerns and became quite shocked that people enjoyed them. I am so thankful to those of you who read my books, take the time to write reviews and email me. John Wayne said it best when he said "without you, I wouldn't be here". Please accept my deepest appreciation.
THE FLOYD LOGAN EPIC CONTINUES ADDING TO THE GREAT WESTERN MOUNTAIN MAN SERIES
☆☆☆☆☆
Burden of a Mountain Man: Logan Mountain Man Western Series - Book 4 (A Logan Mountain Man Series) by Donald L. Robertson is a well-written, well told, action adventure, that will hold your interest throughout with the adventures Floyd Logan, his fellow mountain men friends, and his family and friends within the Shoshone village he new calls home.
Floyd Logan twenty-seven years old had been in the Rocky Mountains for the most part of eleven years living with the Shoshone Indians after they saved his life by bringing him into their village to help him heal after a grizzly bear attack. His days are no longer spent trapping beaver and selling his pelts at the rendezvous or hauling them to Saint Louis due to the fall in the market for beaver pelts to make beaver hats on the east coast or in Europe. He know spends his days in the Shoshone village, hunting to provide food for the village, or enjoying time with his wife and son.
Floyd had made of himself to the Pawnee as a boy of sixteen when first coming to the Rocky Mountains and now he was considered a enemy of the whole Pawnee nation and the same was for anyone who rides with him. If it isn't bad enough to have a whole Indian nation after your scalp, Floyd has to deal with a insane group of misleaded family members from his past in Tennessee that have come out west to kill Floyd, his family, and everyone he is close to. If this isn't enough, their bound and determined to kill anyone and everyone they come across.
This book and series has it all from action-packed scenarios one after another, suspense, romance, good versus evil, and heros that place their lives on the line for each other as well as those who cannot protect themselves. I have truly enjoyed reading this book and the previous three books and this series and can't wait until the next installment comes out. If you get a chance to read this book and series, you will not be sorry and you most likely will be hooked from the first book and will proceed onto the Logan Family saga. I hope you enjoy!
Quotes: "Listen to advice from those you know, but decide for myself."
This is the 4th book in the series that I have read. And every one of them have been outstanding! The characters stand out and the different angles on them as they come together to tell the story at the end(as well as minor storylines within it) flow well. The Author has done an excellent job of writing. I am waiting for book five to be offered and can’t wait to see what happens next. I would recommend this series to anyone. But would advise them to start at book one.
It's been quite a while since the last book in Floyd's backstory. It was great to reunite with Morg, Shorty, Jeb, Leotie and the rest. As usual, this volume has a well written storyline with plenty of action taking place in a magnificent setting! I look forward to my next read from this fine Western writer!
Donald Robertsin has become on of my top 5 western writers. His characters are always believable and I like and admire them. Don just needs to write quicker! This is a really good book and I anxiously await his next one!
