Charismatic, easy-going Caleb Harrison lived his entire life under a microscope. Growing up as the pastor’s kid, he was used to having all eyes on him. That scrutiny increased when he stepped into the role as senior pastor after his dad retired and passed the bible-baton to him, but it was nothing he wasn’t prepared for.

Then everything changed.

One post. That was all it took to flip his life upside down. International pop star Karina Black (who was also his cousin’s best friend) went online and compared Caleb to two fictional spiritual leaders from TV shows, and overnight, he became an internet sensation. Literally. He went to bed known by his family and community and woke up with millions of people knowing him, or the two-dimensional version, “Hot Pastor.”

For thirty-two years, Caleb’s personal life was covered in Saran Wrap; there was full transparency. But when his path intersected with a brief fling from his youth, both his faith and integrity were challenged, secrets were unearthed, and relationships were tested.

Stunning single mom Rebecca Taylor lived her entire life in survival mode. Growing up in the foster care system taught her harsh truths, like she couldn’t trust people, and she could only rely on herself. Those beliefs were reinforced when the man she married at eighteen turned out to be someone unsafe for both herself and her son.

It took two suitcases, two thousand miles, and no trace of the two of them to start their new life.

Waiting-for-the-other-shoe-to-drop was Taylor’s default setting, which made taking-things-one-step-at-a-time difficult since she was constantly on high alert for falling footwear. The week she and Owen arrived in Hope Falls, the forecast was Cloudy with a Chance of High Heels. The plummeting pumps came in the form of a media storm surrounding her son’s biological father, who she hadn’t seen in over a decade. He was a viral sensation with memes and fan pages dedicated to “Hot Pastor.”

She needed to disappear. He had the entire world on his doorstep. Their paths should have never crossed, let alone collided.

Author’s Second Chance Fate is a single mom, cinnamon roll alpha, marriage of convenience, slow burn reunion, mistaken identity, second chance, standalone that is the epitome of small-town romance.
This happily-ever-after tale is set against the backdrop of the Hope Falls Effect™—a phenomenon that brings people together and heals old wounds—along the way, there are challenges, second chances, and discovery that sometimes love finds its way back in the most unexpected ways.

Second Chance Fate is the fifth novel in the Hope Falls Brewed Awakening series my Melanie Shawn. To be honest, I wasn't so sure about a pastor for a male main character, but I had no reason to be unsure. I loved Caleb and his parents and this novel's storyline.

Taylor's tenacity is unmatched, and her son Owen was so much fun! It's hard to move to a new town and make friends, but Owen had the easiest time - everyone loved him.

I loved going on Caleb and Taylor's journey to finding their second chance! I loved getting another story out of this Hope Falls world and cannot wait for more from Melanie Shawn!

I loved Taylor and Caleb in Second Chance Fate by Melanie Shawn, book five in the Hope Falls: Brewed Awakenings series; an emotional, heartbreaking, yet heartwarming, love story with a single mom and a community filled with support. It’s also a story about new beginnings, reconnection, family both biological and found, and how second chances can be the best thing that ever happen.

Caleb Harrison followed his father's footsteps becoming the pastor of the local church when his dad retired. While he’s held the position for the past five years this single guy has earned the nickname of "Hot Pastor" which he does not care for, but deals with. Despite all the meddling and matchmaking by the town residents, he has never forgotten the girl he met twelve years ago in Daytona. A girl he has never forgotten and who has forever been on his mind and in his dreams.

Rebecca Taylor met a hot guy while she was in Daytona and got pregnant. Since they hadn’t exchanged information, she didn’t have a way to contact him. She later met a man who could give her and her son security and a home. Soon after marrying him she found he was mean and controlling, forcing her to get as far away as she could. A DNA test results helped her had locate her son’s father. Finally the opportunity to flee and with the assistance of a neighbor she took her son, Owen, to Hope Falls. Owen is an amazing kid, wise beyond his years, with a number of medical issues; keeping single mom Taylor on her toes doing all she can to keep him safe and healthy.

Coming to Hope Falls was so Taylor could see if the man she knows to be her son’s biological father is a good man and worth being in their lives. Caleb and Taylor can't seem to resist fate throwing them together for a very emotional journey as they reconnect and navigate what it means for the two of them, along with Owen and their dogs, Minnie and Casper. I loved the chemistry and all the little easter eggs hidden throughout the book. All of the subtle signs from above that made them realize that they were meant to be together was amazing. This is an amazing story from start to finish and I can’t wait for the next story in this series. . I am also looking forward to reading more about Frankie who was first introduced in this book when we return to Hope Falls.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

In Second Chance Fate, we find ourselves back in Hope Falls with the town full of wonderful characters.

Caleb Harrison has followed in his father's footsteps and is the pastor of the local church. He's held the position for the past five years and it's well known around town that he's single and he's earned the nickname "Hot Pastor". It's not a moniker he loves, but he deals with it. While everyone in town would love for him to be dating and coupled up, he's never forgotten the girl he met nearly 12 years earlier on a trip to Florida.

Rebecca Taylor. known as Taylor in Hope Falls, and her son Owen came to Hope Falls less than a year ago after fleeing a bad relationship. They keep mainly to themselves, but it's about time for Owen to start school, so that will be short-lived. Owen is a great kid who has a host of medical issues that keeps single mom Taylor on her toes doing all she can to keep him safe and healthy.

Taylor's main objective in coming to Hope Falls was to see if the man she knows to be Owen's biological father is a good man and worth being in their lives. The reader is taken on a very emotional journey as Taylor and Caleb end up reconnecting and then navigate what it means for both the two of them and Owen.

There was so much to love in this book. It's about new beginnings, reconnection, family, both biological and found, and how second chances can be the best thing that ever happen. I enjoyed this so much and I'm ready for whatever the author has for us next!

**I voluntarily read an early copy of this title in exchange for an honest review**

Rebecca Taylor is looking to restart her life with her 11 year old son and she chooses to do that in Hope Falls. Choosing Hope falls was not a fluke but a rather deliberate move - her son’s biological father lives there.
Caleb Harrison is the pastor in the local church, and is very well known around the town and thanks to his friend Karina Black around the neighboring towns as well as the “Hot Pastor”. He would like nothing more than to live an anonymous life, settle down and start a family. But every time he thinks about the woman he would like spend his life with, his thoughts take him to someone he met 12 years back at Dayton Beach.
Caleb and Taylor share a connection unlike any. Despite the fact that they met after 12 years they are instantly drawn to each other. They have been given a second chance and losing each other again is not an option. Caleb was all in even before he knew it all. Taylor has spent her life waiting for the other show to drop, and I just loved how supportive and understanding Caleb was. He showed his love in small gestures till Taylor was ready to hear the words.
I laughed, I cried and I swooned while reading this book.

Second Chance Fate is the fifth book in the Hope Falls: Brewed Awakenings series and might just be my favorite to date. Who can resist the “Hot Pastor” and a really cute kid that he didn’t even know about? Not me! Taylor moved to Hope Falls after catching a glimpse of her one night stand (and baby daddy) by chance when a reality TV show was taping nearby. Caleb never forgot Rebecca, the girl he met on trip while he was in college. Taylor looks so familiar and he just can’t put his finger on it. Until he realizes that she is Rebecca, going by her last name, to flee from an abusive relationship she got into after she found herself eighteen, alone and pregnant with his son! The sparks are still there but they have several obstacles to overcome before their HEA. What a great book! I loved Caleb and Taylor and Owen was a great kid! Highly recommend.

Caleb has made appearances in numerous books within the Hope Falls community. He has been a senior Pastor for his church since his dad retired 5 years prior and while he wants to settle down and have a family, he refuses to settle for less than what he wants. He grew up with parents who were soulmates and their strong guidance helped to enforce those values.

Taylor has been in Hope Falls for about 8 months hoping to introduce her son to his biological father. The father that had no idea his son existed. She had a one night stand 11 years prior and only found out what his first name was until he became a viral sensation due to a social media post. When she was 5 months pregnant, she met and married her ex, a lying controlling ex-cop who she finally escaped from.

Caleb and Taylor can't seem to resist fate throwing them together and their son, Owen along with their dogs, Minnie and Casper go along for the ride.

I loved the chemistry and the little easter eggs hidden throughout the book. All of the subtle signs from above that made them realize that they were meant to be together was amazing.

I am also looking forward to reading more about Frankie who was first introduced in this book when we return to Hope Falls.

Oh, how I loved coming back to Hope Falls. The characters, town, and storyline are absolutely fabulous in Melanie Shawn's Second Chance Fate. Rebecca Taylor and Caleb Harrison met 12 years ago in Daytona. Taylor left before Caleb was up, not knowing she was pregnant. After seeing Caleb on television, Taylor and her son head to Hope Falls. Caleb and Taylor heard on an emotional journey and navigated through some tough times. I was hooked from the very beginning and didn't want to put the book down.

The Hope Falls effect has a trademark and a definition. It has also brought Caleb and Taylor back together again. Their first meeting was 12 years ago. They spent a weekend together and didn’t exchange last names. Taylor ran away from an abusive relationship with her son to Hope Falls when she discovered that Caleb lived there. I always love the TV, movie, and musical references used in Shawna’s stories. This one added some special numerical occurrences as well. This story had everything I was hoping for. A small town with so much character, a caring community, and a happy ever after. Thank you for adding another story about this special town.

We return to Hope Falls. This time for the “Hot Pastor”. His story is a touching story and will make you believe in second chances with happy endings!
Caleb has been the local pastor in town following in his father’s steps by taking over his church when his dad retired. 12 years prior Caleb made a trip to Daytona, met a girl, and she has forever been on his mind and in his dreams.
(Rebecca) Taylor met a hot guy while she was in Daytona and got pregnant. Since they hadn’t exchanged information, she didn’t have a way to contact him. She later met a man who could give her and her son security and a home. Soon after marrying him she found he had a mean streak and she needed to get away.
Through a DNA test she had located her son’s father. With help, she left and took her son to Hope Falls.
When she got there, she needed to make sure he was a good man before introducing her to her son.
The minute they met, the connection that they felt all those years ago was reignited.
Will they be able to make it survive? After all, her ex is still out there and he’s closing in.

loved it

This was so satisfying! I can’t even express how much I loved this book! Couldn’t put it down. It’s 2:23 in the morning! My phone died so I picked up my iPad to finish it! This book was so good! And I totally want to attend Caleb’s church! He’s an excellent pastor! I loved that sermon he gave calling out Patsy in the most Christian way.
Taylor is so strong! She hadn’t had an easy life but she didn’t let that stop her from being an amazing mom and Owen is the best!
Great book! Highly recommend it! And we better find out about Arthur and his particular set of skills.

Fabulous book.

It was great to go back to Hope Falls. I have read all the Hope Falls books and enjoyed every one of them. It was great to catch up with people from previous books.
From the blurb I wasn’t sure whether I would enjoy as much as I did, once I started reading I couldn’t put the book down.

Loved Caleb, Taylor and Owen. Found myself tearing up at times. A beautiful story. Would love to see further books in this series.

For the most part, I really enjoyed this book. the characters were engaging and the premise was really interesting. I've read the other books in this series, and so it was enjoyable to read this one.

There were some errors, though, that I thought a copy editor should have caught. One having to do with a minor plot point. And the others to do with grammar and punctuation. This included a use of present tense at times that seemed weird to me.

Oftentimes, I'm not fond of when there's a Christian component to a book, but I thought this one handled it very well, and I very much appreciated it.

I was not sure how a story about a small town paster, Caleb, would translate into a "romance" novel. But I was pleasantly surprised that Melanie Shawn has another winner as Caleb and new to Hope Falls, Taylor and her son, turn out not to be that new to Caleb at all. Well written story and another one I could not put down! Thanks Melanie Shawn!!

Oh my Hot Pastor 🔥 meets single mom. I loved this right from the start. Taylor and Owen have a wonderful mother/son dynamic and I really enjoyed how they had their in jokes and how Owen was wise beyond his years and really looked out for his mom.

Then along comes Calab, the Hot Pastor and things go from hot to hotter. Calab and Taylor have a history, a short, but lasting history and none of the spark has disappeared over the years. Calab was all in even before he knew the full story and at each turn he showed Taylor his love by stepping up, showing up and listening. He saw her, he saw her struggles but never called her out on them he simply stepped into the role so she could step back. Beautiful.

From start to finish this book had hearts coming out my eyes and dancing around my head. What a great ending to the series. ♥️

This book is so good. There is so much happening in the story regarding Caleb who is a second generation pastor, and Rebecca Taylor who is going by Taylor now because of her ex. This book will warm your heart when you hear about Taylor and Caleb’s first meeting, their eleven year old son Owen who had medical problems and was an old sole that you can’t help but love that Caleb didn’t know about as the two were young and didn’t exchange last names. You will also fall in love with this small town and how Caleb, his close friends and most of the town took care of Taylor and Owen. There are some funny scenes that will make you smile. I loved the book, and strongly encourage you to read it.

This was a perfect addition to this series. Taylor and Caleb is a book that will hook you a few pages in. Once you are hooked there is no putting it down. Taylor is always looking over her shoulder expecting the worse. Caleb has always kept his personal life private until one morning he waits up to millions of people knowing who he is. Taylor and Caleb's story is so good. They are being given a second chance. Together these two have so much chemistry. Will they be able to overcome their pasts and move on together? Highly recommend. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Wow

All I can say is WOW. What a great story. Another winner for Melanie Shawn. Our couple met as collegiate kids in Florida. Had a weekend together. Hero goes home, grows up and becomes hot pastor in Hope Falls. Heroine goes home, finds out pregnant, marries bad guy. She leaves with child in tow to Hope Falls to hopefully find her fling from years ago.
Things work out, second chances given.
Single mom, small town, touch of suspense and more in this story.

Long waited story - Caleb and Taylor

As this series has played out, Caleb has been a strong supporting character as the town pastor as good friend. But he had always been alone - no love interest. The author took this challenging life style and gave him the bad boy past - but with a bruised angel for life changing encounter. As life happens, they part but the winding road brings them back. An excellent story and a must read!!!

Hope Falls and so does everyone else that’s single

This was both a fun loving and compassionate story as well as a sad one. Having to run and hide is never good, especially when carting around a son who is sickly and scared too. But all is good in the end but a little too close for comfort.
