In a small Pennsylvania town a madman known only as The Mask Collector, stalks the vulnerable. His signature is victims displayed in public places, their heads wrapped in gauze, a cryptic symbol left behind.
And he’s only getting started.
Called in by a desperate former colleague, ex-FBI profiler Lee Kilburn knows this case is more than it seems. He’s seen that mark before. Years ago, it nearly destroyed him.
Once the Bureau’s brightest star, Lee left it all behind after a serial killer murdered his wife. Now, living off the grid with only his dog for company, he’s sworn never to go back. But when the bodies start piling up, Lee is dragged into a nightmare that blurs the line between myth and reality.
With the help of investigator Eliza Martinez and her team of experts, Lee must outwit a predator who’s always two steps ahead. A killer who may not be working alone. Because the symbol left at every crime scene points to something bigger, darker, and more dangerous than any one man.
This killer isn’t just leaving bodies behind. He’s leaving a message meant for Lee.
Killer Instincts is the first novel in the pulse-pounding Lee Kilburn FBI Mystery Thrillers, perfect for fans of Michael Connelly, Karin Slaughter, and C.J. Box.
Praise from early
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ “A dark, atmospheric thriller with a killer as twisted as they come.” ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ “Lee is the type of broken hero that I immediately fell in love with. I can’t wait to follow his story for years to come.” ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ “Think Connelly with a dash of True Detective. The characters Urban has created are some of my all-time favorites.” ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ “I started reading just before bed. BIG MISTAKE! I was up all night. Addictive!” ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ “Shades of early Thomas Harris. I already know every book in the series is going to be a must buy for me.”

A professional photographer, writer and fan of general weirdness (both real and imagined), Tony has traveled tens of thousands of miles seeking out everything from haunted locations, UFO crash sites and monsters like Bigfoot and the Mothman. In a previous life, he worked in the independent movie industry but he finds his current career much more exciting.
Tony's first writing memory involves penning a short story about taking a road trip with his best friend and his dog (two different creatures) to watch KoKo B Ware in a professional wrestling event in Pittsburgh. He wrote that epic saga while in the 3rd grade and it was all downhill from there. His first books were a series of o)eat travelogues but recently his zombie apocalypse series, "Life of the Dead" has been a bestseller online and grossed out readers all over the world. His ultimate goal in life is to be killed by a monster thought by most to be imaginary. Sasquatch, werewolves, chupacabras, he’s not picky. If that fails, he’d enjoy making a living as a full time writer. Which of those two scenarios is more likely is up to the readers to decide.
Wow, I was blown away by this book. The writing style kept me turning the pages and I didn't want to put it down. The characters each had dispirit personalities and they blended well together and added to the story. This as about as chilling a thriller as I have ever read, definitely going to read more in this series. The loose ends tied up nicely but left some things open for the next book.
