Fatebound follows the journey of 14-year-old Mia, a girl whose world is turned upside down when she discovers she's tied to a hidden realm of magic, mystery, and danger.
As she navigates her newfound abilities, Mia uncovers secrets about her past, her true identity, and the ancient forces at play in the Veil.
Struggling to control powers she doesn't fully understand, Mia is faced with impossible choices, fierce adversaries, and the weight of a destiny she never asked for.
With her friends by her side, Mia must decide what kind of hero she wants to become-before the darkness consumes everything she holds dear.
An enchanting tale of self-discovery, bravery, and the bond between worlds, Fatebound will transport you to a magical realm where not everything is as it seems.
Graham Fontaine, Best-Selling Author, was raised on dragon tales, forgotten maps, and the scent of old library books. When he isn't wandering the misty edges of imagined worlds, he writes stories about unlikely heroes, ancient magic, and the quiet wonder tucked into mossy corners of the woods.
I seriously fell in love with this book chapter one. I could not put it down Mia the FMC was so relatable. I sobbed, I screamed. It was truly such a refreshing read for a magical/fantasy book had no spice which i normally dont read but the story and charectors were so good it wasn't needed.. I cant wait for book two December needs to get here quickly.

Fatebound is a YA fantasy. I loved the story about Mia coming into her powers. My only issue is that there is to much detail about the places Mia is and not much about how she learns about how to use her powers. It would have been better if the author told more about that. I’m looking forward to book 2. I would definitely recommend this book to all.
An amazing debut YA fantasy that keeps you engaged and want to keep reading! This book follows Mia a 14 yr old girl who is coming into her magic and when she finally realizes that’s what’s happening, she finds out she’s in danger. Upon finding out about her magic, she is finally told the people in her life were out there to keep her “safe” her friends, family, every single person she has had a relationship with also has magic and kept it from Mia her whole life, and has to go away to learn how to use her magic and keep herself and others safe. That’s when she enters the world of veilwood. You will get to go on this newfound adventure with her and get immersed into her journey with magic, danger and cute characters that she encounters along this journey! This book is a solid 10/10 for me and I can’t wait to follow along in the next book!
This was such a well thought out and written story it was hard to put down. One of the best YA fantasy series I have read in a very long time. I highly suggest everyone should read it. Well done Graham very excited and can’t wait for the next one the series.
This is a wonderful YA fantasy. The characters are definitely well thought out and the plot is fascinating. I loved the market scene the most and meeting my favorite character ever..... PIP!!! I have read this to my kids and they both loved it
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, I was checking it out for my nephews and ended up reading it to the end. The plot is great YA content with vivid descriptions and a good storyline that should hold their interest. Not to mention the inclusion of the cute little creature called Pip whom is going to be all the rage as soon as more people read this little gem :) So I highly recommend this for any kids out there that want a little magic in their lives .
Fatebound made me laugh very much I enjoy every minute the storyline is amazing and Mia I love her so I can't wait for the next book in the series. The writing is very straightforward to read this is highly recommended. If you like fantasy novels it is not like the other fantasy I have read in the past.
Fatebound wraps you in that rare kind of magic that doesn't scream—it hums. Graham Fontaine builds a world that's not just rich in lore, but alive in feeling. From the moss-covered woods to the pulsing edges of the Veil, every page carries a quiet reverence for wonder and a deep emotional pull.
Mia is not your average chosen-one heroine—she’s messy, scared, brave, and achingly human. Watching her unravel her identity and come into her own felt less like reading a fantasy and more like walking alongside a real person. The friendships are genuine, the danger feels real, and the questions about fate, choice, and identity linger long after the final page.
There’s something profoundly nostalgic here too—like rediscovering the kinds of stories that made you fall in love with reading as a kid, but with a maturity that doesn’t talk down to younger readers. Think Emily Rodda meets Brandon Mull with a soft, introspective twist.
Highly recommended for anyone who believes forests still hold secrets and that even quiet magic can change the world.
Okay, so that cliff hanger was slightly evil if you ask me. A big reveal like that and I'm left in suspense and wondering what's going to happen next. I'll have to keep my eye out for the next book.
I thought my favorite part was going to be when they arrived in Valemoor, and then also later explored the markets and met Pip. I do like that bit, but I think I might love the confrontation in the garden more. I kept thinking I wanted to get more of Mia's perspective and how she was feeling because things kept happening, but she kept having to push on. She's definitely better than me and more patient because I definitely would've gotten fed up sooner. It was so satisfying when she put her foot down because she's so valid to feel how she does. I also loved that Pip showed up again. It made me smile. 🩷
The scene at the end makes me so curious to know who all knows what specific details. I wanna know more about everything in general though. Also, I wanna say I love the mushroom headers at the top of each chapter, it's so cute.
I'm very grateful to have received an arc of this book for free from Booksprout in exchange for my honest review. Thank you very much 😌
This was a strong entry in the Shattered Realms Chronicles series, it had that element that I enjoyed from the genre. The characters had that feel that I was looking for and enjoyed the historical setting going on. The plot was everything that I was looking for and worked with the chosen one element to this fantasy world. I was engaged and invested in what was going on. Graham Fontaine has a strong writing style and I hope to read more from this series and author.
