I’ve read the Our Daily Bread daily devotionals for years. My mother used to get the little booklets every month from church and we would read them together as a family at night. Now I use the ODB app. Count Your Blessings is a compilation of daily devotionals for a whole year— including an extra one for leap year. The overall theme is gratitude.

Each devotional reading begins with the suggested Bible reading (which you really should read!), a key verse, and then the devotional story. If you’ve ever read any of the ODB daily devotionals, you will recognize this format. Each one of them ends with a call to action about how you can “Practice Gratitude Today.” It really is a nice collection by multiple authors. Each daily reading is only about two pages long, so it’s something you could easily do in just a few minutes in the morning or evening or whenever. I encourage anyone who wants to add a devotional reading to their day to grab a copy!

(I received a copy through Netgalley— that is how I am able to review this before it is released. I am giving my honest opinion here!)

There is a devotional day in this that talks of what we can offer back to God in gratitude. It speaks of how God has everything so what could we possibly give to such a One. Then it goes on to quote the Scripture that speaks of offering ourselves as living sacrifices to the LORD and speaks of how that is an act of true and proper worship.
This got me thinking of how special it is to Him when we love God with our whole existence. All choices, thoughts, feelings, actions that honor Him are like continuing songs of worship to Him. Sweet smelling and pleasing more than any song we could ever sing to Him. How that would be the greatest form of gratitude to Him.
I love that this devotional does not only point to how we as people could benefit from gratitude like most teachings on gratitude out there tend to do. I love that it points to God as well from Whom all good things come. It inspires me to do better by the LORD. To truly live a life that honors Him.

Count Your Blessings is a Our Daily Bread Devotional Collection all centered around the theme of gratitude. Published by Our Daily Bread, while written by over 40 contributing authors, it is a diverse look at the empowering aspect of embracing a heart of gratitude daily. I appreciated this book using it in the morning to focus my thoughts for the day. For each day there is Scripture, a short devotional, ending with a thought on how to practice gratitude for that day.

What a great gift with it 365 devotions for the year. For the busy person this is not a long devotional, but it is also a meaningful devotional for any person, from teenager on up. A heart of thankfulness gives praise to the Creator, but it also helps the individual, who is part of creation. Sometimes we don’t know where to start, let this book give you thoughts and ideas. Count Your Blessings has helped me to remember to give thanks, praise and gratefulness to the Lord, no matter what the day may bring.

This was a really inspirational and uplifting read, I'm really glad that I read it!

I can remember my childhood church having a stack of Our Daily Bread Devotionals available for anyone to take, so picking this up felt very nostalgic and heart-warming to me.

This devotional was easy to understand and had me reflecting on each blessing I'm granted throughout my day that I don't always remember to give thanks for. I found each devotion to be uplifting and inspiring, causing a more positive shift in my attitude.

I'd definitely recommend picking this one up!

Thank you our Daily Bread Ministries, Net Galley and Our Daily Bread Publishing for providing me with an ARC of this title. All opinions in this review are my own.

Count Your Blessings by Our Daily Bread Ministries.

If you're at familiar with the Our Daily Bread booklets that a lot of churches hand out, then you will know exactly what to expect from this book. This is a compilation of one year's worth (starting Jan 1st) of short one-page devotionals, focusing on gratitude. The devotionals start with some scripture verses for you to read, then a few paragraphs to clarify, add perspective, and make the verses more relatable. Each reading ends with "Practice Gratitude Today" suggestions, which are often creative, thought-provoking, and practical. Some of my favorite suggestions have been: Create a Thanks-Living jar with one thing you're grateful for each day, to be read at the end of the year; Take time to stop and marvel at God's creation today (I chose to spend a few minutes on my porch with a cup of tea just taking everything in without any devices to distract me); and Choose a meal to slow down and savor while thanking God for providing it. Simple suggestions, but they force me to appreciate the things God has provided. I've personally found it a great way to start the day, as I don't have much time in the morning, but it helps me get into the right frame of mind before I get bombarded by the challenges of the day.

4/5 stars. Biblical, practical, and simple. Recommended as a great way to start of the new year (or any time of year) with a perspective of gratitude and thankfulness.

Thank you to NetGalley and Our Daily Bread Ministries for the opportunity to read the eARC of this book. All opinions expressed are my own.
