Class Action: What You Don’t Know CAN Hurt You by Gail Ward Olmsted is a fast-paced, character-driven legal thriller that immediately draws readers into the life of third-year law student Lennon Gallagher. When she receives an accidental text offering an advance copy of a final exam, she faces a moral dilemma: accept the “easy A” and risk her integrity, or refuse and potentially be framed. Olmsted expertly uses this ethical tension to highlight the pressures of law school while making Lennon’s choices feel authentic and relatable.

Beyond the scandal, Lennon’s personal life adds depth to the story. Balancing a demanding internship, preparing for the bar exam, a fractured family, and a faltering long-term relationship, Lennon must navigate betrayal, secrecy, and unexpected revelations, most notably discovering that the lead plaintiff in her firm’s class action lawsuit may be her father. With the support of her mentor, Miranda Quinn, Lennon learns the importance of trusting others and seeking guidance, emphasizing themes of resilience, integrity, and found family.

The novel’s strength lies in its combination of suspense, emotional depth, and ethical complexity. Olmsted’s engaging writing brings fully realized characters to life while maintaining a compelling plot that blends legal intrigue, romance, and personal growth. Class Action is a gripping, relatable story that will appeal to fans of legal thrillers, women’s fiction, and anyone who appreciates a protagonist navigating high stakes with heart and intelligence.

I have another great book to share with you today! It is Class Action: What You Don’t Know CAN Hurt You by Gail Ward Olmsted. It is a Women’s Crime Fiction and I had a hard time putting this one down. If you have read anything by Ms. Olmsted, you already know she is one of those authors that deserves a lot of attention. Her books are interesting and well researched and they draw you in instantly. I have read several of them and she is one of those authors I don’t need to read the synopsis to know I want to read the book. There hasn’t been a book she’s written I didn’t enjoy.

If you have read any of the Miranda Quinn Legal Twist Books, then you will want to read Class Action. This book is about Lennon Gallagher who is the daughter of one of Miranda’s High School friends. Miranda has stepped in at times when Lennon’s mother wasn’t able to. They have become close over the years and Lennon is following in Miranda’s footsteps to become an attorney.

There are a large range of characters in this book. There are the ones you wouldn’t want to be associated with and there are the ones you would want in your own life. Ms. Ward does a phenomenal job of fleshing out her characters. It doesn’t take you long to figure out who is who. The characters are not one dimensional and I like how with a smile or a gesture they become so much more.

Class Action has a bit going on. Lennon is beyond busy studying and working two jobs. She works in the library and in a law firm where she is working on a class action suit. She is hoping she will stay on for the summer to finish working on the case. She has to pass the final exams to be eligible to take the bar exam and that will take all her time studying.

Class Action: What You Don’t Know CAN Hurt You by Gail Ward Olmsted is a book I would highly recommend to anyone who likes criminal law, a good love story, and a story about someone that comes from less than desirable circumstances growing up but has the gumption to pull themselves up and make something of their life. There are so many life lessons in this book. It makes for fascinating reading. This book should either be on your Christmas list or on the top of your Nightstand! I’m wishing all my followers and readers a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Until next time…Happy Reading!

Don’t forget to support the authors you read by leaving a review. Even a few words help.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. The opinions I have expressed are my own and I was not required to write a review. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255.

CLASS ACTION: What You Don’t Know CAN Hurt You by Gail Ward Olmsted is a riveting legal thriller that blends suspense, emotional depth, and a journey of self-discovery. The story centers around Lennon Gallagher, a dedicated third-year law student whose life is a whirlwind of personal and professional crises. As she grapples with intense ethical dilemmas and uncovers long-buried family secrets, she finds guidance and support from her wise mentor, attorney Miranda Quinn.

This captivating narrative invites readers into the complexities of law and morality, weaving a tale that is as thought-provoking as it is engaging.

About...

Lennon Gallagher receives a text message with an advance copy of a final exam, an "easy A" that would violate her honor code. When she declines to participate, the students behind the scheme threaten to frame her if she doesn't keep silent, jeopardizing her entire academic future.

Juggling her law school commitments, an internship, and studying for the bar exam, Lennon is also facing an unraveling relationship with her boyfriend, Seth, housing worries, and financial insecurity.

There is also a family crisis. Her mother, a recovering addict and a repeat prison resident, is in and out of jail, adding significant emotional and practical strain to Lennon's life.

To further complicate her life, while working on a class action lawsuit at her law firm, Lennon discovers that the lead plaintiff in the case might be the father she has never known. This potential family connection is a major emotional turning point, making her question her identity and "found family".

Overwhelmed by the multiple challenges, Lennon relies on the guidance and support of her friend and mentor, Miranda Quinn (previous series), who helps her navigate the legal and personal betrayals.

My thoughts...

CLASS ACTION: What You Don’t Know CAN Hurt You is an engrossing character-driven legal thriller focused on Lennon's struggle to maintain her personal integrity and strong moral compass in the face of immense pressure. She ultimately finds stability and a new, more compatible romantic interest (Nick Russo), deciding what she truly wants for her life.

The author showcases Lennon's struggles, obstacles, and her relatable character, which revolve around her unwavering moral compass, her ability to overcome a challenging past, and her journey toward self-discovery and finding a supportive community.

Her immediate refusal to violate her honor code, despite immense pressure and personal need for a good grade, establishes her core integrity and strong moral character, even when nobody is watching.

Lennon is placed in a difficult position: risk her entire academic future and potential disbarment by reporting the scandal, or stay silent and let the perpetrators get away with the fraud while facing the threat of being framed later.

When the students involved in the cheating scheme threaten to frame her, Lennon stands her ground. Instead of succumbing to silence or fear, this challenge forces her to seek help from her mentor, Attorney Miranda Quinn, demonstrating growth in her ability to trust others and fight for what is right.

Juggling a demanding law school schedule, financial stress, an unraveling romantic relationship, and her mother's ongoing struggles with addiction and the law, Lennon initially tries to handle everything alone. The turning point is when she realizes she needs support, which highlights her move from an isolated loner (from her time in foster homes) to accepting her "found family," community, and support system.

The discovery of her father is also an emotional turning point for her that challenges her understanding of her identity and pushes her to confront her past and her long-held trust issues.

Her other relationship with Seth and then with restaurant mogul Nick Russo shows her personal growth in recognizing and choosing a healthy, supportive relationship that aligns with the life she wants to build.

Readers will find Lennon highly relatable as she moves from merely surviving the demands of law school to proactively deciding what she wants for her future. She develops the confidence to pursue an education and a life of purpose, ultimately defining her own path forward beyond her difficult beginnings.

Lennon Gallagher's journey of personal growth unfolds with remarkable depth, highlighting her evolution from a lonely young woman weighed down by trust issues to a confident individual who fully embraces the principles of integrity and authenticity. This transformation is beautifully portrayed as Lennon learns to let go of her isolation, seeking solace and support from those around her, ultimately cultivating a "found family" that becomes a source of strength and belonging in her life.

Miranda Quinn, a central figure in the narrative, stands as a beacon of unwavering ethics and exemplary integrity within the intricate world of law. Her steadfast commitment to justice and moral principles serves not only as a guiding light for Lennon but also as a profound testament to the power of resilience and virtue in a field often fraught with challenges. Through Miranda, Lennon discovers the importance of maintaining one's principles, even when faced with adversities.

This book marks my first experience with the author's writing, and I was genuinely captivated by the richness of the characters and the intricacies of the plot. As an enthusiastic fan of legal thrillers, I was thrilled to learn about the upcoming sequel, "CLASS REUNION: Keep Your Friends Closer," slated for release on October 1, 2026.

In a recent interview, the author tantalizingly hinted at the unfolding drama: Lennon is on the verge of becoming a partner at a prestigious law firm and is in the midst of planning her dream wedding. Just when it seems her life is aligning perfectly, unforeseen complications arise that promise to challenge her newfound happiness and stability.

Having immersed myself in Lennon's compelling narrative, I find myself increasingly intrigued by the author’s celebrated Miranda Quinn Legal series, eager to explore the complex dynamics and thrilling legal escapades that await within those pages.

Lennon Gallagher is a third year law student with a lot going on. She’s got a long distance boyfriend, she’s offered a free copy of a law final and then is told that if she doesn’t keep silent she will take the fall, her mom is just out of prison, she’s studying for finals, and the bar is coming up. With the help of her friend Miranda Quinn, Lennon has to navigate a scandal, work, studying, relationships, and figuring out what it is she wants for herself.

I’m going to start off by saying that I enjoyed this book – it was good. It’s a quick read and it’s entertaining. Lennon is a likeable character and you cheer her on. You want to make sure that things work out for her the way that you want them to. It’s nice that Miranda Quinn makes an appearance in this book as a friend and almost as a mentor.

I was really confused as to the genre of the book. Is this just general fiction? Is it a legal thriller? Is it romance? Is it a mixture? If it’s general fiction – then I think it’s a perfect way to describe it. It teeters into some romance, but not enough – I would have loved to have more of that. It’s not a legal thriller by any means – I wasn’t left on the edge of my seat at any part of the book. I was curious though. One website doesn’t have any genre assigned, another has it under friendship. So I think the internet may be confused too! But when you have a tag line “What You Do Know CAN Hurt You” I sort of expected more thriller-ish vibes, and that’s not what this is.

This book will be out later this year. It is an enjoyable read, so if general fiction is your thing – with a very pleasant splash of romance, check this one out!

I was given the opportunity read and review this ARC by the author (publishing 12/11/25). I've read some of her other books but nothing in this series as yet until now.

Miranda (Randi) was there from the others in the series, and Kelly and Charlene were in the prologue (1999). Charlene and Kelly are sisters and Lennon is Charlene's daughter. Charlene is a former drug addict alcoholic and has been in and out of prison too. Lennon does so much for her but Charlene definitely doesn't appreciate her.

She relies on Randi (a lawyer) for good advice and her friendship too. Come to find out almost at the end of the book, that Randi was Charlene's friend also. She also helped Lennon also for a shoplifting charge when she was 16. I'm sure I'd get to know Randi more if I read the others in this series and also Charlene and Lennon, growing up in foster homes and relying on Randi.

Lennon is involved in a class action suit and she thinks she knows who her father is just by his birthdate, gestures and other things when she deposed him? Possible.

Then right before she starts a study group she gets a weird phone call about $. Then when she meets another student Roger who's conducting the class; he's creepy by the way, he tells her to ignore the phone call. Something weird is going on here. Lennon's not falling for that. Roger hands her a letter, but she doesn't accept it. She gets implicated for this stolen exam, and gets called to the Dean's office after taking it. There's a twist to this exam too.

This is just not about Lennon's third year in law school, exams, etc., but also there's a potential romance. She mees Nick, where Roger takes her for dinner, who's their waiter, and he is the owners son. His family owns a few restaurants. She broke up with her current boyfriend of 6 years since the commute wasn't working out with him in NY and Lennon in CT. There were other problems too. She was too busy with law school mostly and never had the time. Just when the romance got started, Nick finds out that he needs to go back to culinary school in Milan, Italy, since he proposed a deal with his father 3 years ago, that if he didn't finish his book, he would go back. For a smart girl like Lennon, I couldn't believe she didn't know where Milan was and said to herself, "where the hell was Milan anyway"? Lennon has enough problems with finding a job and new place to live after completing law school very soon, and of course taking the bar exam.

After all that, things change for the better with Nick and their relationship, but not unfortunately with Charlene.

Did Lennon's life turned out what she wanted it to be? Well, she graduated law school summa cum laude, fourth in her class too, got a job where she was an intern, with her own division, family law. The ending wasn't the usual which was a surprise but she did end up with Nick of course, but not yet married.

Considering this was an ARC, it was pretty perfect except the last 4 pages of the book didn't have page numbers for some reason. No big deal. The cover was of Lennon wearing shorts and a t-shirt. It was sort of the way I depicted her to look since she was a poor, struggling soon to be lawyer. But it sort of bothered me since I wanted her to look more professional I guess but that's just my opinion.

If you haven't read the rest of the series, this is #4 like me, no worries; it can be read as a stand alone.

In Class Action by Gail Ward, we meet Lennon Gallagher, a third-year law student and non-legacy, who is unexpectedly drawn into a cheating scheme that threatens to derail her entire academic career. Readers of Olmsted’s Miranda Quin Legal Twist series may recognize Lennon from an earlier story. For newcomers, both Lennon and Miranda will feel fresh, making this book an ideal entry point for new readers while still providing familiar faces for longtime fans.

Unlike legacy students who benefit from family connections and inherited expectations, Lennon’s path through law school is defined by her outsider status and determination to succeed on her own terms. When she becomes entangled in a cheating scheme, she is forced to grapple with difficult moral and ethical dilemmas, as well as the relentless pressures of academic competition and the challenges faced by those without institutional privilege or support. Through Lennon’s story, Olmsted examines the complexities of integrity, ambition, and the demanding realities of legal education. With the added strain of personal relationships, Lennon must decide not only what she truly wants for herself but also who she can trust.

Olmsted’s narrative deftly balances the tension between personal ambition and collective responsibility, illustrating how Lennon’s decisions reverberate not only through her own life but also impact her peers and the broader academic community. The depiction of law school culture, marked by late nights, fierce competition, and the ever-present temptation to cut corners, feels authentic and immediate. Readers will find themselves empathizing with Lennon’s struggle to maintain her principles while navigating a system that often rewards those willing to bend the rules.

Those who are interested in legal thrillers with some added romance and tension, look no further than Class Action by Gail Olmsted. The strong characters, the incredible intricacies, and the excellent storytelling are all ripe for the reading.

In Class Action, author Gail Ward Olmsted creates authentic, multifaceted characters who feel real, flawed, hopeful, and human. Main character Lennon Gallagher, juggling a law office internship, looming final exams, studying for the bar study, a faltering and budding romance, and a mother trying to rebuild her life after prison, stands at the center of a world that feels fully lived-in.

Dialogue flows with natural ease, capturing the rhythm of life and the small but pivotal conversations that define relationships.

Readers of Olmsted’s Miranda Quinn series will relate to watching attorney Miranda (Randi) Quinn step into the role of mentor and steadfast ally to Lennon who was introduced in Miranda Fights. Class Action can be read as a seamless stand-alone, with enough context to ground new readers within the story while still rewarding returning fans with character continuity that enriches the emotional stakes.

The novel’s pace is quick and compulsively engaging, propelled not just by an unfolding of legal intrigue, complete with betrayals and ethical dilemmas, but also suppositions about Lennon’s past which stirs an emotional journey at the heart of the story.

What truly sets Class Action apart is Olmsted’s ability to place you inside the scene. From the common areas of a dorm to a law firm’s conference room to a non-descript classroom, every setting becomes a stage for growth, reckoning, and second chances.

Refreshingly real, Class Action is a standout contemporary women’s fiction that balances tension with tenderness with a relatable character in Lennon who finds strength from a supporting cast of characters and the possibility of starting a bright future from a dark past.

In CLASS ACTION (What you don’t know can hurt you) by Gail Ward Olmstead, the author gives us a highly woven tale of family secrets, law school cheating, and a mystery rolled into a fast-paced plot that hooks you from the first page.

Lennon Gallagher, by all accounts, should be on cloud nine. She’s one of the top almost-lawyers in her class in law school, she’s mentored by a fabulous lawyer, and she’s the intern on what may prove to be a very high-profile class action lawsuit.

This last part is where her world starts to fall apart because one of the plaintiffs in the case just may be her biological father, the one she’s never met and who probably doesn’t know she exists. What to do about discovering the truth is uppermost in her mind when her world starts to fall apart.

Added to this mix, she’s embroiled – through no fault of her own- in a class exam cheating scandal that may derail her future career.

With a romantic relationship on the rocks, and now her perfectly planned future in jeopardy, Lennon needs to call on every ounce of her resolve to right her world.

I avoid spoilers at all costs, but suffice it to say there are some rough seas ahead for our heroine.

The dialogue in this book felt genuine to me – meaning the lawyer-speak didn’t sound contrived at all, which was a breath of fresh air. I felt every emotion Lennon was experiencing as one lousy event after another kept coming her way, through the detailed descriptions and word choices from the author.

It was a pleasure to read this story, and now I will have to go and read the ones prior to this in the series, because I am hooked!

4.5 well deserved stars.

From the first chapters, Class Action: What You Don't Know CAN Hurt You pulled me in and kept me invested in every layer of Lennon’s life. This is not just a story about a legal case—it is a deeply personal journey that explores identity, ethics, ambition, and trust.

I was especially engrossed in Lennon’s desire to uncover the truth about her biological father, a thread that adds emotional depth and personal stakes to the larger plot. Alongside that, the ethical dilemmas she faces feel realistic and thoughtfully explored, never oversimplified. The mystery surrounding the test theft ring unfolds at a steady, engaging pace, keeping the reader guessing without overwhelming the story.

While this is not a hard-core, procedural-heavy legal thriller, it absolutely earns its place in the genre. The legal elements are accessible and well-integrated, balanced nicely with the personal relationships that shape Lennon’s world—both friendships and rivalries. That balance is one of the book’s greatest strengths.

I also very much enjoyed the slow-burn buildup between Nick and Lennon. Their connection develops naturally and adds warmth without distracting from the central mystery. It feels earned, not rushed, and complements the story rather than hijacking it.

As always, Gail Ward Olmsted delivers a well-written, thoroughly researched novel that places the reader right in the middle of the action. Her storytelling consistently blends emotional insight with smart plotting, and this book is no exception.

This one earns a well-deserved 4.5 out of 5 stars from me.

I was immediately drawn into Lennon Gallagher’s life as a law school student preparing for her final exam before graduation. Olmsted perfectly captures the voice of a smart young woman in her 20s. She does this through a very credible first-person narration, lively dialogue, as well as the inclusion of text messages between Lennon and her friends.

Lennon follows her moral compass in dealing with a very thorny situation. If she makes the wrong choice, it could get her thrown out of law school. She has worked long and hard to to get to the finish line—through grit and determination, but also her own keen intellect. Raised by, Charlene, a single mother with an addiction problem, the odds had been against Lennon. Despite being a high school dropout, she took the GED and managed to go straight from college to law school. Also, in her favor: she is friends with the brilliant and compassionate Miranda Quinn (Randi). As I’ve read Olmsted’s other books about Miranda, I could even further appreciate her role in Lennon’s life.

While the author does a great job creating tension at every turn, a blossoming romance also makes this novel an enjoyable read.

Does Lennon find out her father’s identity? Will she remain with Seth or will she wind up finding someone new? Will Roger end her brief legal career even before it’s begun? Tensions continue to build and questions quickly add up, turning this compelling book into a page-turner! I loved finding out the connection of the sub-title (What You Don’t Know CAN Hurt You) with the story. This truly is an adventurous legal tale!

I have come to love the characters in this series and was pleased to see that it is told from Lennon's perspective rather than Miranda's. We still get Miranda & Eric in this novel, along with some of their family, but this focuses on Lennon.

Lennon is a struggling law school student in her final year. We are reminded of her past, her mother, and a few of her struggles from previous books. Lennon is a character that you will root for as she traverses finishing law school, dealing with her mother, a threatening classmate, and a boyfriend who is drifting away. All normal circumstances, but small things keep adding up, and will she survive this or break?

I do think that Lennon could be someone we all know, or her situation could be familiar to the reader. She is lucky to have support from Miranda (Randi) and Eric. They are strong role models for her to look up to and reach out to when situations can be sticky.

I devoured this book rather quickly. I kept turning the pages, wondering what might happen next. Some things I suspected early on, but other situations played out as they were intended. I was delighted to see Lennon realize that maybe her relationship with Seth wasn't what it meant to be. Sometimes people drift apart, and this was the case. But not to worry, a new romance is on the horizon.

If you have read the previous books, you will enjoy this one just as much. Even if you haven't read the previous books, you can read this one as a standalone since it focuses on Lennon.

We give this book 5 paws up.

The Review

This was yet another enthralling legal drama and compelling legal read. The author does an incredible job of layering the narrative with dynamic storytelling and a fast-paced pace that speaks to the reader and helps connect with the characters. The story itself is a thriller, but it balances well with added elements of romance and family drama, as well as the complexities of academic life and the legal system as a whole.

The main draw of this narrative was the rich character development and the powerful themes it explored. The struggle of those in school, especially those in law school who don’t come from affluent families or legacies and must make their own place in the world, was a strong theme that played well into the story. The balance the author found in bringing Lennon’s personal struggles with finding her biological father, maintaining a relationship with a distant boyfriend, and the struggles she has with her mother, who has been in and out of her life constantly, was exceptional. Pair this with characters like Miranda Quinn from the author's previous books, and the strong characters become part of a larger world the author has carefully cultivated.

The Verdict

Suspenseful, compelling, and engaging, author Gail Ward Olmsted’s “Class Action” is a must-read legal thriller and drama. The culture the author explores within law school itself and the competitive nature of it all, as well as the personal stakes Lennon faces and the twists and turns the stories take in this novel, will keep readers enthralled until the book’s emotional ending.

The stakes are high for Lennon Gallagher, a third-year law student who finds herself entangled in an ethical dilemma that threatens everything she’s worked for. A misdirected text offers a stolen exam, and when Lennon refuses to play along, the threat turns personal. Throw in a high-pressure internship, a faltering relationship, a buried family secret, and the need to support her recently incarcerated mother, and you have a tense, emotionally charged journey.
Lennon is a compelling and relatable character. She’s intelligent, driven, and stretched to her limit, making her an ideal protagonist to lead Olmsted’s newest legal thriller, an apparent offshoot from the highly recommended Miranda series. Miranda Quinn even plays a secondary role in the novel. The author deftly weaves in sub-plots that intensify the emotional depth of the story and creates a multi-layered novel that gripped me from the beginning. With crisp dialogue and an engaging writing style, Class Action integrates themes of resilience, integrity, and self-discovery, all through the eyes of a young, witty, and authentic character, one I hope to see in future novels from this author. This is a standout legal drama that will resonate with readers who crave both tension and heart.
Sublime Line: “Gripping and engaging, Class Action explores what it means to choose the harder right over the easier wrong.”

Lennon’s plate is full: final semester of law school, two jobs, a fading long-distance relationship, a mom arrested - again, and, oh, she may have found her biological father. For as much as she could use the saved time and effort, she passes when a pushy classmate, Roger, offers her a copy of the final law exam. In addition to studying for it, she has to deal with his threats and overtures. Luckily, Lennon is a hero with wind beneath her wings - a new love interest and a mother figure who happens to be the best lawyer in town.

Lennon’s busy-ness creates a frenzied and stressful atmosphere. Harried meals, quick showers, and half-dash outfits show a young woman in the throes, easy to rally around and sympathize with. Lennon is shown rising to challenges. Lennon’s work on a class action suit at a law firm conveys her organizational capacities. Outings with her mother figure, Randi, carry the book’s message, that good will win out in the end. The cheating scandal climax comes mid-book. Olmsted takes more time to decompress, with productive passages in which Lennon completes tasks, than to build up her final encounter with Roger. It comes as a shock and a blip. Flirtatious text messages, graduation celebrations, and “the father question” closure conclude the read in a warm tone. This is a feel-good, pro-active book, light on drama and heavy on forward momentum.

Review of advance copy received from Author
December 11, 2025
Lennon Gallagher, a third-year law student, eagerly anticipates her graduation and the fulfillment of her lifelong dream of becoming a lawyer. However, her excitement is short-lived when she receives a message containing a copy of her final exam. Refusing to use it, she upholds her integrity. But it’s not that easy when the people that sent her the message begin to make her life unbearable if she doesn’t do what they say.

Lennon seeks support from her friend Miranda Quinn to navigate the complexities of her life. She’s already burdened with drama from an ex-boyfriend, challenging exams, an internship, and her mother’s need for help rebuilding her life—a task Lennon is uniquely suited to provide.

“Class Action” by Gail Ward Olmsted is an exceptional story that explores themes of reconciliation, second chances, and the courage to do the right thing even when no one is watching. Lennon, a likable and strong-willed character, captivates readers from the very first page.

The plot twists and turns keep readers engaged and make this book unputdownable. I thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of this story, from beginning to end. This is my first book by this author, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I appreciate her writing style and eagerly anticipate reading more of her works. I highly recommend this remarkable read.

Gail Ward Olmsted writes a compelling dramatic tale

In CLASS ACTION, the reader is brought into the life of Lennon Gallagher, a determined law student navigating the challenges of her final semester, a high-stakes class action lawsuit, and the complexities of her personal life. I haven't read anything by this author before, and what a hidden gem. I enjoyed it so much, that I have now followed the author and look for more books to read. This author has a captivating imagination and writes with passion and thought. The characters are engaging, and well-developed, with multi layers, flaws and perfections. A reader can connect with the characters, as they are relatable, and it's interesting how the reader wants to embrace the characters, with their triumphs and tragedies. Lennon is in search of herself, by looking back at her past. This is a legal thriller, and it shows that the author did her homework. Insert Nick and Randi, bringing in more depth and unveiling their relationships. The pace is slightly off, sometimes too slow, and other times, too fast, but it is worth the read. Well-written and well told! CLASS ACTION is a definite recommendation by Amy's Bookshelf Reviews. I read this book to give my unbiased and honest review. Amy's Bookshelf Reviews recommends that readers of this book, be kind, and also write a review.

“Class Action” by Gail Olmstead is an exciting, fast-paced legal thriller that follows law student Lennon Gallagher in her frantic final months of law school. The daughter of a former drug addict who has always been in and out of jail, life for Lennon has never been easy. If it weren’t for the help of her mother’s high school friend, Lennon might never have had the nerve to dream big enough to become a lawyer like Miranda. All she needs to do is buckle down, get through her final exams, and then pass the bar exam after that. But life isn’t so simple. Her long-distance fiancé is making demands. A discovery while interning at a law firm may have a tremendous impact on her life. And what should she do after she gets threats after having received a text message that was supposed to go to someone else? Her entire future could be ruined as a result!

This can be read as a stand-alone novel, but Lennon does make an appearance as a teenager in “Miranda Fights,” one of the Miranda Quin Legal Twist books. I felt completely invested in Lennon’s fledgling career as a lawyer, and I hope this is just the beginning of her story and that there will be more to come. I was fortunate to receive an ARC of this great book. Definitely five stars!

Conviction on a shoplifting charge can do serious damage to your future, and if you’ve got a mother who’s a recovering(ish) meth addict, alcoholic, and prison resident, the odds are definitely not stacked in your favor. Unless. Unless you find yourself represented by ace attorney Miranda Quinn who not only gets you off the hook but takes you under her wing and shows you how to turn everything around.

This is Lennon Gallagher’s story, and in six short years, with Quinn’s help, Lennon’s about to graduate with highest marks from law school, she’s preparing for the bar exam, and she’s got reliable Seth as a romantic interest. What could go wrong? Turns out plenty. She’s broke, about to lose her rental, her relationship with Seth is in trouble, her study group leader has stolen the final exam for the course she must pass to graduate, her mother is back in prison, and the main actor in a class action lawsuit she’s working as a course requirement just might be her father. It’s a lot to handle, but Lennon is no ordinary young woman. She’s determined, intelligent, and stubborn, but she’s got Quinn as a mentor, and Lennon’s been paying attention.

I received an ARC through "Booksprout" and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

This is a story about Lennon who had a rough childhood and is now about to graduate from Law School. Lennon is in the final months of her last year when she winds up joining a study group to prepare for final exams. Before long she is approached by the group leader and offered in advance the final test for Constitutional Law. Lennon refuses it, but she winds up being implicated when the final exam is given. She is being set up to take the fall and she knows if they find her responsible, all of her hard work would be for naught. In addition she has had a fight with Seth, her boyfriend and it looks like it was ending. Luckily she has met Nick and she is quite comfortable with him in addition, she has the support of Randi, her friend and mentor, who is behind her helping.

Read along and discover all of the effort that Lennon is doing to complete her degree. Find out what the end result of the exam accusation was and how Lennon's future looked in the end. This is a book with heart and is definitely worth the read. Don't miss out!

Lennon is just trying to get through law school and her exams. When she receives a mysterious text message, she is drawn into a world that she doesn't have time for. But she can't ignore the text and all the drama that comes with it. Can she do what she knows is the right thing?

Class Action: What You Don’t Know CAN Hurt You is a well written, exciting novel exploring right and wrong as Lennon tries to uncover parts of her past while also trying to set things in motion for her future. I thoroughly enjoyed this story while watching Lennon figure out her life. We get a look at the legal side of her life as well as her personal life, which is not going as she had hoped.

I found out after I read Class Action, that this a part of a series but can obviously be read as a standalone. I enjoyed it and didn't feel liked I missed out on anything. Now I want to go back and read the rest of the series and get to know the characters better! I recommend Class Action to anyone who loves legal stories intermingled with personal drama.

One of my favorite ARCs so far this year! Gail Ward Olmsted once again ties together a fast-moving plot, engaging characters, and a strong female lead in this spin-off from the Miranda Quinn series of legal thrillers.
Lennon Gallagher is overwhelmed with finishing law school, trying to find her biological father, and taking part in a huge class-action lawsuit as a law student. Then, she's informed she will have to move at the end of the semester. Her life of studying and scraping by makes relationships difficult. With her mother headed back to jail and a new boyfriend added to the mix, Lennon's life gets another layer of complication. When she is accused of cheating on a final exam, she needs Miranda's help and support to clear her name, discovering she has more people on her side than she thought. Themes of friendship, found family, and justice are explored in this highly recommended read.

A fast-paced read with dual climaxes!

At a young age Lennon Gallagher is thrown into the foster system when her drug addicted mother is no longer able to care for her. From her impoverished beginnings, Lennon is able to surround herself with the right people, working hard to elevate her standing in life. Now a law student on the verge of graduation, her family’s reproachable past threatens to strip her of what she has worked so hard to achieve.

Targeted as an easy scapegoat, Lennon becomes a suspect at the heart of a cheating scandal as a wealthy classmate sets his sights on earning top marks. Without a respectable family legacy, will Lennon’s story hold up next to her privileged classmate?

This novel speaks to an element of society dating back to the invention of money itself. The trouble Lennon finds herself in will keep you turning the pages to find out which is more powerful—money or the truth.

I enjoyed this book and it kept me on my toes the whole time with all of the things going on in Lennon's life. I do feel like I may be a bit of an outlier here with all of the 4 and 5 star reviews I'm seeing for this one. Granted, this is my first book by this author so I went in blind but found it to be an entertaining story with plenty of plot points to keep the story moving but this one landed at a 3/5 star for me. I really enjoyed Lennon's character, I liked her growing relationship with Nick and I loved her relationship with Randi. From what I'm picking up, Randi is the main character in some of this author's other books and I can see how she would make a strong lead character.

Overall this was a good time.

Thank you NetGalley and Black Rose Writing for access to the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This novel is quite pleasant, but lacking on tension. It takes time to get started. Once it does, there seems to be a little caused by the relationship between Lennon and Roger, but it is never fully developed.
There were times as I read that I thought "Okay. When is something something going to happen?? There are several characters introduced, that had promise, but I didn't find them to be fully realized. The story of Lennon's struggles in law school, goes off on a tangent, focusing on a love affair. There is no development. One day Lennon is involved with long time relationship, next she's with a waiter she met at dinner , and her relationship is done
It was a decent read, but nothing I can rave about. It was average.

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

My wish came true! Class Action: What You Don't Know CAN Hurt You by Gail Ward Olmsted is the fourth book in the Miranda Quinn Legal Twist series and as with the others, I could not put this book down. In this latest release, we find out more about Lennon and the sticky situation that arises in a cheating scandal at her college. As she wrestles with the situation, attempts to hold onto her relationship and find a new place to stay, she connects with the person always there for her: Miranda. I loved seeing these characters again and as always, I was lost in the storyline. I connected to them, compulsively turned the pages and was just as invested as the other books in the series. More, please!

Class Action by Gail Olmstead is an engaging novel driven by the trials, no pun intended, of third-year law student Lennon Gallagher. She negotiates an intriguing combination of family conflict, love won and lost, stressful pursuit of a law degree, and nefarious plotting of legal peers with truly engaging humor and self-deprecating reflection. From her distinctive name to her humorous and pointed snarky personality she is the star of the show, confronting insecurity and life’s obstacles with a combination of strength and insecurity that remains endearing and captivating. It was a worthwhile read that kept me looking forward to the next chapter until the satisfying end.

“Class Action: What You Don't Know CAN Hurt You” follows third-year law student Lennon Gallagher through a compelling mix of professional and personal challenges. When her internship case might involve her absentee father, and she's wrongly accused of cheating by her study group, Lennon's world gets complicated fast. Add in a long-distance relationship that doesn't survive the pressure, and a promising new romance in the final chapters, and you have a story that captures the chaos of law school life.
Gail Ward Olmsted has created a relatable protagonist who is dealing with very human problems alongside her academic pressures. If you enjoy legal fiction that focuses on characters and the personal side of the profession, this is a solid choice.

Look up “hard knock life” in the dictionary and you’ll find Lennon Gallagher’s picture. Her daily challenges include a jailbird mom, a needy boyfriend, housing worries, financial and job uncertainty, and fellow law students trying to implicate her in a cheating plot. But Lennon is smart, funny, and tough—a heroine you’ll love cheering on as she courageously faces these challenges and more in Class Action. As Lennon navigates all this adversity, she never knows what lies ahead of the next blind curve—and neither does the reader. Author Olmsted hits it out of the park again with this warm, optimistic, and often romantic story about perseverance, personal integrity, and the joys of found family.

Class Action is a smart, character-driven legal drama that blends suspense, heart, and emotional depth. Olmsted builds two vivid worlds: Charlene’s chaotic and destructive past, and Lennon’s driven, high-pressure present. She brings these timelines together in ways that feel both intimate and profoundly human. The class-action storyline is gripping and realistic, and the fallout from the data breach adds real-world stakes that heighten the tension.

What truly elevates this book is the relationship work: Lennon’s search for identity, her strained bond with her mother, and the deeply moving and unexpected connection she forms with Michael. Their scenes together bring tenderness and hope to the story’s darkest moments.

A standout read from start to finish.

A smart, emotionally-charged legal drama blending personal stakes with ethical dilemmas. When law student Lennon Gallagher is inadvertently pulled into a high-stakes cheating scheme while simultaneously working a deeply personal class action case, the future she's dreamed of is put in jeopardy. With mounting pressure from family, school, and a crumbling relationship, Lennon must decide who she can trust—and who she truly wants to be.

Olmsted does what she does best--hooking the reader into a compelling story of strong women, resilience, and integrity.

Fans of Megan Miranda's "All the Missing Girls" will find a similar mix of suspense, secrets, and an underestimated protagonist.
