On his third birthday, what was supposed to be another great milestone for him, turned into the fatal loss of his father. Dealing with this fatal loss, it caused Law’s mother to ultimately lose her mind, and to be placed in a mental institution. From there, he was raised by his grandmother, who passed away two years later. With no family left to raise him, he was taken in by his dad’s best friend, Dutch. Dutch raised Law as if he were his son, thinking that this man would be his hero, not knowing yet that Dutch just may be the man responsible for destroying his family.

They went on to get married, have beautiful twin boys, and a baby girl. During their marriage, they take a major loss, that ultimately destroyed everything that they’d built, and it’s almost impossible to come back from.

Law is now the man to see in Miami, being a high profile criminal defense attorney, running his own firm. In this life, he’s surrounded by enemies, lingering betrayal, and unanswered questions from the past.

Cus this lady is talented, but it’s no way her editor likes her because the errors are always present. I promise I haven’t read a book from her that used the correct words EVER. Like she has everything it takes to make a story hit, to make you root for the character and really enjoy the drama of it all. I just get so mad because it’s like you have 4/5 star material but the spelling is always a mess, the wrong words are selected and don’t even make sense “FEELING ME UP” mind you this a man releasing his babies so the sperm was just tickling and teasing her like DIAMOND PLEASE. Like I’m sorry she has to get a proof reader and a verified editor on the line cus GIRL COME ON You a star your pen is full of ink you be WRITINGGGG down but not doing the after care and final polishes to show off that pen.

you gonna have beg for it

This is my first book by this author. And I could not stop reading. It was so good. I mean the storyline, the pace of the story and character banter was great. The marriage in trouble, but they couldn’t leave each other alone had me swooning. We got backstabbing, secrets and lies swirling everywhere. Whew what a ride!!!!! Onto book two.

PART TWO ME NOW !

Nahhhh I needs a part 2 nowww too much going on and I need crap solvedddddd. From Dusty Dutch and his weak raised childish son, to painful law and yaya then to they curiously mischievous kids that need a foot up they behind lmbo.
Cliffhanger got me caught up and I’m mad I read it 🤣🤣 that’s what I get for being thirsty. But as usual Author Diamond did her thing. Read at your own risk of having cliffhanger hangover and if you believe you can wait 🥲.

Lordy!

I know Creed is going to get himself a good one. Book 1 is great. I’m praying that Dutch end up gone from the land of the living for the messed up things he did. I mean, how could he? The story is flowing very nice and I gotta get to book 2. Great job Diamond.

I’ve been reading such good urban contemporary romance novels lately that I’ve forgotten that all of it isn’t good. This book is predictable and mediocre with a lame cliffhanger.

Law and Yaya have been together since they were 6 & 8 years old. They’ve been married for about 25 years with twin boys and a baby girl who died of SIDS. Her death tears their marriage apart. The book is all about them getting divorced and how it affects their family.

The secondary story is Law’s back story and how his father was killed, his mother went crazy, his grandmother died and he ended up growing with Dutch, his father’s best friend.

A few things:
- this was another book I found on IG. This time I was let down by the ad.
- as I stated the cliffhanger was lame. I saw that coming 3-4 chapters before it actually happened.
- I also knew Dutch was a villain within a third of the book.
- the way Law spoke drove me crazy…really he’s the top lawyer in Miami?
- the proofing and grammar in this book was terrible.

While it wasn’t a 2 ⭐️ read it was dayum close. I powered my way through cause I just couldn’t imagine holding onto this book much longer. So glad I borrowed this from Kindle Unlimited. I won’t be reading the next book.

⭐️⭐️⭐️

The description of this book made me interested in reading it and I had very high expectations. I was pleasantly surprised when I realized that the main characters are African Americans, and that was something completely new and unexpected for me. Unexpected in the sense that we usually read books in which it is understood that the actors of a certain book are white, sometimes Latino, and African Americans are mostly secondary characters. Maybe someone reads such books, but for me this is something completely new and I wanted to enjoy and explore something new.
The beginning was good for me, but as the story progressed, I started to struggle because it was very difficult for me to follow the story because of their interaction. I could feel the chemistry, emotions, sadness, suffering, love, but the sentences that were written as dialogue between the characters were terrible for me. Nigga, motha fucka, nigga ass, ... Wtf was that? I had a feeling that my head was going to explode because it was all so irritating and difficult to read. I don't know if anyone did proofreading, etc. , but if not then it should definitely be done because this ruined a good story with great potential .

listen

Man, Ya got on my nerves the entire time I read this book. Law was literally too good for her. She was so selfish and never considered how Law felt. For them both to lose their daughter and she shuts him out and not take into consideration how he felt shows just how self centered and selfish she really is. I’m a mother and I know we carry and bring these kids in the world, but we don’t make them alone. She had a good man who was loyal to her and made sure she and their boys were good.
Law’s father’s best food a grimy snake and a different breed of a snake to not only kill his father, but raised his son knowing that he killed his father. I figured he had something to do with Law’s grandmother being killed and it’s only a matter of time before he goes after Law and his mother.
Creed is hardheaded and dragged his brother into his mess. I wish that he had actually listened to his father and brother and left Vivian alone based off the history that his father had with Vivian’s father. I knew that the dad would come home and I know Vivian won’t defend Creed. Poor Legend, but he shouldn’t have ever allowed his brother to talk him into going to that party. Now, hurry up with part two.

This book was ok, law is HIM! He definiteli dnt play! The twins r good and smart, but i knew creed was bout to do sme dumb stuff, talkin to vivan🤦🏾‍♀️ his dad warned him too, but he a teenager, sme things he got to c for himself. Soyara was gettin on mi nerves! I get she took losin her babi girl hard, but she was doin too much, she divorced law for wht? He was tryin to b there for her, yet she pushed away and basicalli gave him to the streets, then after the divorce she couldn't stop sexin him🤦🏾‍♀️ he fell every time cause he still loves her, i jus wnt her to stop wit the bs and js b wit him, had they had tht talk earlier, they would of been str8🤦🏾‍♀️. Dutch is so slimy! He killed knox and law gramdma 🤦🏾‍♀️ and raised law and built a bond wit him, law not dumb, i hope he find out the truth, dutch dnt got respect he spit on knox grave 🤦🏾‍♀️. Js jealous. I got to c hw this ends, but i hope soyara get it together she's a good mother and does her job well, but she urks mi dealin wit law.

I can’t I like Law and the kids and that’s about it. I’ve skipped sooooo many pages in this book from the beginning. I dont care how long Yaya had known her bf or any of that. It’s just unnecessary pages of words. I’m still trying to figure out why she filed for divorce, was the only reason because their babygirl passed away? At 38% I gave up the book is boring. All the brand name dropping is just ridiculous. Instead of saying her car was parked right next to mine, it’ll say she was walking to her Porsche Cayenne blah blah that was parked right next to my car. Or he had his Ralph Lauren shirt thrown over his shoulder, and I could see his Calvin Klein boxers on, etc. y’all get it. It was just unnecessary wording and it was interesting wording most didn’t even add to the story.

The Patience Behind the Plot

The character growth was meaningful, even if the story moved a little slow. I trust the next part will bring the depth it’s building toward, and I’m praying Creed finds his strength.

I loved seeing these teens shine with purpose and productivity, backed by the beautiful parenting of Law and Yaya. And Law? He’s got that BDE, mixed with intelligence and just enough hood to keep it real—an unforgettable presence.

As for Dutch, I know his time is coming. This might’ve been a slower start, but the foundation is solid, and I’m committed to seeing this story through.

man this book was so good

Page turner from beginning to end not a dull moment no where. I thought I was gone be mad cuz yaya pissed me off the whole book girl stop playing before somebody snatch law up and show him how he need to be treated. I truly sympathize with yaya although law loss a baby too it’s different for a mother we carried the child in us and the loss is unbearable. I thought I couldn’t wait for law to get Justin off now he gotta get creed off. I knew that white girl was up to no good she come off too sneaky. I don’t even wanna talk about Dutch sheisty ssa

I need book today!

Soraya better stop playing with Law! I bet Creed tail will begin listening from now on! A hard head makes for a soft tail! He was warned but still decided to do the total opposite! I pray that little witch doesn’t mess up everything Creed built and that Law win this trial AGAIN! I can’t wait for book two because we will see Law at his finest, we will see if he finds out who Dutch truly is, beat the hell out of Kross, beat the case building against Creed, and have another beautiful daughter.

Unexpected changes

Law grew up knowing that things could happen unexpectedly causing life changes. He lost his pop at 3, mom at 5 to the mental institution and gma at 7 by the hands of his new found caregiver Duffy. When I say what’s done in the dark will come to light and Law being a layer and his wife Yaya a PR manager they have big shoes to fill. Law twin boys never seen the set up coming but their grandpa was killed and now their dad is going to die trying to save them and himself. Great read

First Moms Ya... Taking the Family on this rollercoaster bc her emotions of loss even through therapy can't be handled🤔 law working
All angles trying to work with her!! Testing testing... The snake bunch hunch crunch killed his father over Jello hatred. The man son knows carrying that same jealousy and low-key want to hurt law!!! These damn kids!!!!!!! Creed just had to test the pale waters and now look at him right where his fathers nemesis wants him, while trying to put a case on laws and yaya's son..f#$k

I NEED TWO NOW!!!!!!

Whew

I loved the story from start to finish! Law is a strong, smart and family man, Soraya is a strong woman doing getting as well! A loss of a child can truly break a family, if emotions aren't addressed! The twins Legend and Creed, they could be more opposite, but their bond is strong! I just knew Creed would give them a run for their money! Mental health and jealousy can be challenging as well, especially when its the people that you care about have these demons, some are know while others are just snakes! Onto part 2

The drama begins

This was good. If I could rate it my way I'll give it a 4.5⭐️. I had a feeling all along that Dutch might have had something to do with killing Knox but to kill the grandmother too and raise Law is kinda ruthless. Ahhhh YaYa failed each time trying to deny Law and it was funny to read because I knew she still loved him. Why do I feel like this situation with Creed and Vivian was a setup and if it was her dad is so lame for trying to come after kids. I'm about to read part 2 to see what it's hitting on. Goodread Diamond

OMG what the heck

Sevyn and Yaya Law have been thru the ups and downs of marriage divorce and raising their twins boys. Legend and Creed was their father and mother pride and joy. Now Legend is in trouble with touching Vivian. Her father is a prosecutor who hate his father with Passion. He wants to make example out of Legend and ruin his young man life. Creed is afraid for his brother how much more can the Laws can take . What about Dutch what will Sevyn do when he finds out the truth.

I am writing this as I am reading part 2. Part 1 definitely move very slow. I didn't think I would make it to book 2, but I have and I must say book 2 is better. Law is a lawyer and he is recently divorced from his wife Ya Ya. They are still in love with each other, but Ya Ya didn't know how to cope after an unexpected lost. They have two twin sons that have everything handed to them, and he does something that may cost him everything he is working hard for. I will rate the series as a whole once I am complete.

Awesome Read

Sevyn was definitely a no nonsense type of guy. He was strictly business until it came to his family. Soraya was extremely emotional, but also as mean as they came about certain things. Law and Creed could bring out the worst in her. She and Law needed that trip so that they could have that much needed conversation. Dutch is trifling and I hope that Law finds out who he really is. Can't wait for part two!

Another Fyre Read!!

Diamond is one of my favorite authors so I knew it was going to be fyre..but babee this book did not disappoint. I picked this book and did not put it down until I was finished. I love how Law handled Yaya, he put her in place when he had to but could be soft with her in the next minute. My new book bae. Law❤️
I didn’t want it to end… so please hurry up with part 2. Good job Ms.Diamond!

This book has a great storyline; however, the grammar stopped me from giving it a 5. One can speak proper English and still have their "coveted" connection to the streets. I still enjoyed the book; although, this is not the type of book I would normally read. I plan to read part two, with hopes that the grammar from the characters aren't too bad as well as the errors. The editor(s) missed many errors!

Good Read

This was a good read it kept my interest until the end. The love story and emotions shared between Law and Yaya is beautiful however Yaya seemed too immature not sharing her true feelings with Law after being with him most of her life. The divorce was unnecessary. My biggest pet peeve is reading these books that have multiple books that take way too long for the next installment. I hope it's out before I forget what happened in part 1.

Not for me.

I didn't even get to chapter 6 & I can already predict the entire series.

First off, starting this novel off with Law & Yaya getting a divorce, all for them to f**k in the next chapter.....??? Like 😑

I was uninterested in the dynamic between those two after that.

You can tell the kids are little sh*ts.

Dutch is antagonist... surprise surprise 🙄

& the ending is probably law avenging his father & remarrying Yaya....

Nah, I'm good.

Next.
