Many leaders like the concept of having a team. Unfortunately, some church leaders function more as an owner rather than team member. Seventy helps church leaders fulfill their role in building, developing, and working with teams. It offers insights into the challenges of doing ministry as a team and practically addresses how to overcome these challenges. If you care about the church, believe in apostolic ministry—following the apostles’ example—and want to experience the Book of Acts in the twenty-first century, this book is for you. Everyone needs a team.
This book was so timely for my life. I gleaned so many practical applications from this book that I can’t wait to implement with my team. This book will encourage toy and challenge you. I can’t recommend it highly enough! Though some of the concepts lean more towards pastoral ministry, they can easily be applied to other areas of church leadership as well. If you’re stepping into a new role in your church, an aspiring minister, or just looking for a ministry reset, this is the right book for you!
This is a very thought provoking book especially from the stand point of a lead pastor. It challenges the typical leadership style with sound biblical principles. I’m excited to implement what I have learned from this book.
Dr. Wilson's perspective and style is approachable and direct. Everyone leading a team - especially in historically autocratic organizations - should read this.
I only give this one 4 stars because the bar was set so high after reading “Realign,” “Rodentivity,” and “Leading Growth.” Another book for every leader to read!
This very well written book is essentially a literature review of leadership materials from a breadth of disciplines and view points. It has been cleverly synthesized through applying these leadership principles to the church. It is full of examples. Clearly written. Enjoyable to read, challenging and encouraging. Great book. I do think however that this book is more interesting if one is already familiar with the extensive references. Perhaps the greatest contribution of this book is the bibliography that can be used as reference for any leader
