AN UTTERLY SPELLBINDING CRYPTID ADVENTURE - FOR KIDS AND ADULTS ALIKE!
I have never been able to resist a good cryptid story, so when I saw this field guide for kids, I knew I had to read it—and I’m so glad I did! Though I’m many decades beyond the target age group, I found "Cryptids Around the World" by Blaire Ingram an absolute delight from start to finish.
The book is incredibly well organized, categorizing cryptids by global region and giving each one a detailed, easy-to-follow entry. Each cryptid is described in detail: what it looks like; where and when it appears; how it behaves; and how to spot it. Every page felt like its own mini adventure. I was completely hooked.
What makes this book stand out is the brilliant balance between imagination and critical thinking. Each cryptid is given a believability rating from 1 to 5 (from “probably not real” to “definitely real”), which adds a thoughtful, grounded element to the fun. It invites young readers (and the young at heart) to stay curious while also learning to evaluate evidence.
The illustrations are absolutely stunning—vivid, mysterious, and perfectly matched to each creature and its habitat. They elevate the reading experience to something magical, giving visual life to stories that have haunted, fascinated, and thrilled generations. I hope the author releases a special edition of the book in paperback or hardback, with the color illustrations included.
Perhaps most impressively, the tone is just right: never condescending, always clear, and consistently engaging. It’s perfectly pitched for readers aged 8–12, but enjoyable at any age. This is a book that fosters wonder and inquiry in equal measure—and I can’t recommend it highly enough. If I could give it 6 stars, I would!

Outstanding!
This book is really impressive. The formatting, pictures and level of detail are fantastic. It has a wide variety of monsters and creatures and is easy to follow and read. Would make a great gift. Kids will love this and even fun for some adults also!
