Best friends or worst enemies?
Amelia is a victim of an online scam and turns to her BFF Paige for comfort and advice. What she doesn’t know is that Paige has plans - plans to destroy Amelia. Will she succeed? You gotta read it to find out!
This is my first Miranda Rijks but, but it definitely won’t be my last. That red (my favorite color) cover really pulled me in and I’m glad I did.
If you like twisty and fast paced thrillers with a satisfying ending, you won’t be able to put this one down!
Thank you to NetGalley and Inkubator Books for my advanced copy to read and review.
You Can Trust Me by Miranda Rijks Yoga vibes with a side of betrayal, social media scams, and friendships so toxic they deserve their own true crime docuseries.
Amelia, a yoga instructor, barely recovers from an online scam when her colleague Paige swoops in — wise, warm, and always ready with a spa-day invite. Their daughters, Marnie and Taryn, become inseparable, and just like that, Paige has woven herself into Amelia’s life. Too well, as it turns out.
Paige isn’t just being supportive — she’s methodically worming her way into Amelia’s finances, relationships, and sense of self, all while playing the perfect friend. By the time Amelia notices the cracks, Paige’s agenda is fully in motion: stolen money, sabotaged business, undermined marriage... and that’s just the start of the drama.
What Made My Spine Tingle
Creeping betrayal: Paige is the friend you love to hate. Charming, helpful... until she’s cutting your lifelines one by one.
Mom drama on steroids: The kid connection—Marnie and Taryn—is adorably innocent. Their budding friendship adds a chilling mirror to the impending parental storm.
Fast-rolling tension: There's never a dull moment. Every friendship milestone masks another betrayal, and it kept me turning pages like a crazed night owl.
Highlights
Amelia’s trust list goes from top-tier to dumpster level in record time. Watching her blink at Paige’s million-dollar smiles while her business tanked? Chef’s kiss level irony.
Paige is so sweet — doctors prescribe her as a cure for anxiety. Until she’s the cause.
Their yoga retreats? Blissful. Their emotional manipulation? Messy AF. Two very different pregnancy outcomes.
Minor Gripes
A few reveals felt too neat, like Paige had the foil-wrapped villain instructions in her back pocket.
Some supporting characters arrived with dialogue tags like, “Hi, I’m here to stir the pot!” A little more subtlety, please.
Final Verdict
4 stars — for the drama, the chaos, the toxic friendship vibes that stung so good. It’s not flawless, but it delivers. If you love a slow-burn betrayal dressed in yoga pants and salon hair, this one hits the mark. Just don’t trust Paige. Seriously — don’t.
Thank you Netgalley, the publisher and Miranda Rijks for the ARC, all opinions are my own, I was under no obligation to review.
You Can Trust Me is a quick, twisted, satisfying read. Paige is one of the most despicable, unhinged and terrifying characters I have encountered. She is the worst kind of evil. This story shows that brains and vengeance are a lethal combination. Miranda Rijks masterfully delivers a thriller that hooked me immediately, never letting go until the shocking conclusion. I have read many of her books and they never disappoint. I highly recommend this to all thriller addicts. Thank you Booksprout and Inkubator Books for my copy.
I was in need of a fast read with colourful characters. Well, what better to read than Miranda Rijks? ‘Fast read’ is not to say that there isn’t any depth in the story. In this book there’s enough going on between the main characters Paige, Amelia and their daughters Marnie and Taryn. It’s a pity the blurb gives so much away already; I would have liked to find out for myself what was going on at the start.
I felt in times really sorry for Amelia, for being caught in a boring and loveless relationship with a teenage daughter who, as almost every teenager, doesn’t want to communicate with her mother. Despite all the yoga Amelia teaches, she’s often a bundle of nerves. Despite the fast pace of the story, the tension builds slowly but surely and makes the reader guess where this would end.
Well done Miranda, for giving your readers this story!
Thanks to Inkubator Books and Netgalley for this review copy.
Miranda Rijks always has me turning the pages well into the night. I couldn’t stop reading this twisty domestic thriller. What a truly awful person Paige is! i really did want to shake Amelia and open her eyes. So frustrating but that is what makes a good story right.
I thought again that I had this all worked out and once again I was wrong. A story of friendship, jealousy, betrayal, so much drama and lies. Paige really had it in for Amelia and we don’t understand why until close to the end. Yoga teachers are meant to be serene and kind aren’t they! it was just non stop for poor Amelia and I did feel for her.
I flew through this book and highly recommend it. Publishes on July 20th. Thanks so much to NetGalley, Inkubator Books and Miranda for having me on her early readers team. Always such a pleasure.
Thank you to Booksprout and Inkubator Books for the ARC (Advance Reader Copy) of You Can Trust Me By Miranda Rijks. This is my third book by this author and I am sorry to say that it was my least favourite of the three. It did have plenty of twists and it was fast paced. It got me hooked right from the start. A little predictable and unrealistic at times. It was enjoyable. I gave it a 3 star rating. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Amelia is a yoga instructor, wife to Hudson, mother to Marnie, friend to many, and an all-around normal and decent person. As the book begins though, so does the unraveling of her life.
Paige is a yoga instructor, partner to Dean, mother to Taryn, and she hates Amelia. She’s also a kleptomaniac with a penchant for harming herself and others.
This book has a few great storylines, but the main one is the battle between these two women, and who will end up triumphant. Their teenage daughters go to school together, so the four started hanging out at Amelia’s house. This was reluctant on all parts at first, but eventually the girls become very close and Amelia feels like she’s finally found a good friend with Paige. When Amelia gets scammed after buying a dress online, Paige is there to help her through it - she’s a real tech whiz! Unfortunately, the dress situation is just the beginning of her life falling apart. As everything with her job, her marriage and her relationship with her daughter implodes around her, Paige is always there, ready to pick up the pieces. What Amelia doesn’t know is that Paige is…well, let’s just say that she’s a colorful character.
The characters in this are all entertaining, and the book is written from the points of view of Amelia, Paige and Marnie (who has her own issues to deal with while the adults around her melt down, and that was also a good storyline). The relationship between the two women is great, but there are a lot of facets to this book: moments that were heartbreaking, moments that were thrilling and many moments that were deviously delicious. This was a fun read; I promise you’re going to love hating at least one of these women! 4.5 stars, rounded up.
(Thank you to Miranda Rijks for the ARC in exchange for my review. This book is slated to be released on July 20, 2025.)
If you're looking for sweet characters and a heart-warming plot, then you might want to give this book a miss.... But if you'd like to:
- Make your heart pound - Revel in toxic friendships - Gasp at deliciously wicked games of manipulation - Speed through a twisted thriller so fast your fingers won't be able to keep up
then this is the perfect book for you!
I loved writing Paige. She's up there with my favourite characters of all time (Tamara from Deserve To Die is another!). Let me know if you love to hate her as much as I do...
I'm so excited for you to read YOU CAN TRUST ME and hope you'll give it a chance. It's in paperback, ebook and is in Kindle Unlimited. Audio will be coming soon.
Thank you so much to all the book bloggers and early reviewers who have shown so much love for this book. ❤️ I hope you love it too!
I will keep this short. I absolutely love miranda rijk’s books. She never disappoints! Omg she created a despicable monster in Paige and clever storytelling. If you love psychological thrillers read this book
You can always count on a book by Miranda to be addictive and bingeable and You Can't Trust Me lives up to her reputation.
You Can't Trust Me is an unputdownable guilty pleasure. It's like Desperate Housewives when one of the housewives is vengeful and spiteful, taking no prisoners.
Talking about drawing me in from the prologue!! Although this book is titled You Can Trust Me, Paige should have come with a warning label said that you canNOT trust me! It was evident that she had ulterior motives from the very start, & the author did a great job at disguising what that motive was. This story is not predictable at all, and I doubt anyone is able to guess why Paige was so hellbent on destroying Amelia. The dual POVs told from Amelia, Paige & Marnie’s perspectives was necessary & easy to follow. Great edge of your seat thriller that I would highly recommend! This was my second read by this author and I have been significantly pleased with them both. I’ll definitely be reading more from Miranda Rijks.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I had no idea where this book was going and it took me longer to get through than I normally do but we had company for a week and I wasn’t able to read as much. So … Miranda Rijks’ latest You Can Trust Me had me glued from the very first page. You sure can’t trust anyone in this book!! The ending is shocking! It came out of nowhere. Well done Miranda!!! Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this early release in exchange for my honest review. To be published July 20, 2025.
Popcorn thriller about a woman determined to ruin the life of another woman. Paige and Amelia teach yoga together and they each have a teenage daughter. While Amelia is happy to find a new friend, Paige has a goal of ruining Amelia's life. At times this was hard to read as Amelia is first scammed out of all her savings, then her teenage daughter is catfished into sending inappropriate pictures and shoplifting. This was only the beginning of the increasingly bad things happening to this family. As things get worse and worse, Amelia feels the only friend she can count is Paige; the very person who is behind all of it. .
I kept hoping for Amelia to look closer at things that were happening but since one of Paige's goals was to cause strife between Amelia and her husband and daughter, the family weren't communicating well leaving Amelia at a loss as to what to do to reclaim their lives. Amelia's daughter Marnie also became best friends with Paige's daughter Taryn and thought she was finding refuge in her friend's home. As usual, the author throws in a couple of twists at the end which were fun and unexpected. This was a quick, beach read type of thriller along the lines of a Freda McFadden of book. Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for a copy of this ARC in exchange for a review.
**ARC Review "You Can Trust Me" by Miranda Rijks** ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 4.5 stars Paige is that character. The devious, calculating train wreck you simply cannot look away from. I flew through the pages, horrified yet fascinated by her tangled web of lies. It’s like the literary version of watching someone light a match in a room full of gasoline; you know it’s going to explode, but you can't help but stick around to see just how bad it gets.
The book kicks off quickly and never lets up. Paige is a master manipulator who casually sips her wine while ruining lives. She’s awful in the most entertaining way possible. Watching her worm her way into Amelia's life, with the intent to destroy it, was both gripping and painful. Amelia is just so kind and trusting.
Rijks maintains tight tension throughout with short, punchy chapters that make it all too easy to say, "Just one more." I love and hate those short chapters! The story does feel a bit over-the-top at times, but that’s part of the fun. It's unhinged, and that’s exactly what I signed up for.
This book is a psychological thriller that brings the same vibes as "The Housemaid" by Freida McFadden. I try to grab all of Rijks' ARCs because I know she’ll keep me entertained! I’m eagerly waiting for her next release!
Thank you to the author and Inkubator Books for providing this ARC via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

When yoga teacher Amelia falls victim to an online scam, her colleague Paige help her. And with their daughters Marnie and Taryn becoming best friends, the two families grow even closer. But all is not as it seems because Paige has her own agenda....
At first this story did not seem very interesting and I did not care much for any of the characters but the more I read on, the more I realized that this kind of things may happen to everyone. We hear daily how someone has fallen victim to some online scam, or their saving were stolen, or how someone´s child has been blackmailed for the photos they´ve sent to someone, etc, etc. So this is in a way a good reminder that even if you think you can trust someone...you can never be too careful! Sadly there are too many horrible people out there who use other people without any guilt or remorse...
A deliciously deceptive, tense and multi-layered domestic psychological thriller. You Can Trust Me was an emotionally charged fast paced story that I just added Miranda Rijks to my favorite author list. This was the second psychological thriller I’ve read by Rijks and I loved it as much as The Visitors. Having read a couple of her books, I can say that I love how her books are tightly plotted, fast paced, and psychologically driven.
You Can Trust Me centered on Amelia, a yoga teacher, who fell victim to an online scam and her colleague Paige came to her rescue. Along with their daughters, Marnie and Taryn, they became best friends and the two families grew very close. But all was not what it seemed and the relationships quickly became a battle of deception.
Rijks domestic relatable characters and setting makes the narrative accessible and conversational. Her prose is clean and very direct allowing tension and psychological elements to be at the forefront. There were also perfectly placed twists and red herrings that were logical and tied back to the characters actions and motives.
At the heart of the novel lied the question: Who can you really trust? Rijks used this core question to incorporate a variety of themes. Trust and betrayal as well as psychological manipulation were at the forefront. More specifically, Rijks honed in on the dangers of emotionally invasive relationships, the illusion of the perfect life, and the vulnerability of trusting the wrong people through every character.
Rijks told this story from multiple perspectives. This point of view style provided direct access to the characters’ internal thoughts while creating natural chapter cliffhangers and heightened the emotional intensity while it fueled the reader’s curiosity. Altogether, the multiple point of views built the suspense, deepened the psychological tension, and maintained a fast pace from start to finish.
In both of the books I’ve read by Rijks to date, The Visitors and You Can Trust Me, Rijks wrote smart, fast-paced psychological thrillers with strong domestic backdrops, relatable characters, and a focus on emotional manipulation and trust. I highly recommend reading You Can Trust Me if you are looking for a psychological thriller about friendship gone wrong, toxic relationships, and secrets lurking beneath the surface.

They are both yoga teachers, but their lives couldn’t have been more different.
Amelia is married to Hudson, and together they have a daughter, Marnie, who is fifteen. They live in a big house, and their family life seems to be a happy one to an observer, like Paige.
Paige’s life hasn’t been an easy one. She observes Amelia, her surroundings, and possessions, and she can’t help but feel jealousy. She starts a campaign of hate aimed not only at Amelia but her whole family…
I enjoyed this tense and twisty psychological thriller!
I could tell right from the start that Amelia was struggling, and I was right. Just because she lived in a fancy house, it didn’t mean that she didn’t have any troubles of her own. It appeared she had more problems than an average person!
Things were going from bad to worse for poor Amelia, and she couldn’t work out the reason why someone was targeting her and her family.
Paige was a truly despicable and unlikable character. She had a long-term partner, Dean, but I honestly have no idea how he could love her. She was so selfish and obsessed with money that she would literally do anything to achieve what she wanted.
I really detested Paige, but at the same time, I was interested in what she would do next. Honestly, that woman had so many tricks up her sleeve!
Just when I thought I knew the outcome of the book, the author dropped a massive twist, which I didn’t expect.
Overall, this book will keep you guessing all the way to the end. I definitely recommend it.
So good!! Flew by and I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. The twist at the end was perfect. A few things were unbelievable, but it didn’t take away from the book nor the pacing. Rijks reminds me so much of Freida with her writing style! Highly recommend and I own this one if anyone wishes to borrow!
When yoga teacher Amelia falls victim to an online scam, her colleague Paige comes through for her. But all is not as it seems. Paige has an agenda. Once she has won Amelia’s trust, Paige starts to execute her carefully laid plan… stealing Amelia’s money, destroying her business, undermining her marriage. Will Amelia realize what’s going on before it’s too late? Or will Paige succeed in turning her life into a living hell before finally extinguishing it?
"You Can Trust Me" is a psychologically driven thriller that explores the themes of toxic female friendships, manipulation, and jealousy. The narrative follows Amelia, who is nearly ruined by a scam but is saved by her colleague, Paige. As their daughters are best friends, the families become close, but there is more to the story than meets the eye. It seems Paige is determined to harm Amelia in every way imaginable. Lord, let this type of friendship never find me!
My heart sympathized with Amelia, as she went through a lot of hardships. Now as for Paige, oof, what an evil human! She was a self-centered, money-hungry psychopath. Despite my reservations about Paige, I am quite intrigued by messed-up characters, and I found myself curious to observe her actions toward Amelia.
Overall, Miranda demonstrates excellent skill in crafting a well-developed, slow-burning thriller. My only criticism is that the pacing at certain parts felt a bit drawn out, and some elements were somewhat predictable. Nevertheless, it remains an enjoyable story to experience, and it effectively illustrates the importance of caution when it comes to trusting others, even those we consider "friends".
“You Can Trust Me” by Miranda Rijks is a chilling psychological thriller that explores the terrifying consequences of misplaced trust. When Amelia falls for an online scam, her seemingly perfect friend Paige steps in to help—but Paige has a hidden agenda. The tension builds with each chapter as the reader is forced to watch this twisted game of manipulation unfold. Rijks masterfully paints a portrait of betrayal and paranoia, keeping you on edge until the final, bitter confrontation. If you love dark, suspense-driven thrillers where nothing is as it seems, this is a must-read.
You Can Trust Me By: Miranda Rijks Pub Date: July 20, 2025 Publisher: Inkubator Books This book was full of so many plot twists, which made it another fun psychological Thriller, which Rijks nails every time. You never know when you meet someone if they are genuine or want something from you. Amelia is a yoga teacher, who’s live is unraveling after a scan and her teenage daughter is rebelling. She meets Paige and their daughters Taryn and Marnie become besties. Paige has placed herself in Amelia and her daughter’s life, but it is NO ACCIDENT. She has ulterior motives and they are not good. Get ready for a WILD ride!!!
Anytime someone says You Can Trust me, I’m immediately suspicious so this title grabbed me right away as a thriller lovers. This story centers around two families who are frenemies. There is friction between the families but the author keeps you in suspense as to why until later in the story. Filled with unreliable narrators, this story kept me guessing what the endgame was. I’ve read many books by this author and this is one of her best!
You Can Trust Me is exactly the kind of psychological thriller I love — fast-paced, twisty, and utterly unputdownable. I read the advanced copy in one sitting and was completely glued to my chair, needing to know how it would all unfold.
Miranda Rijks does a brilliant job layering suspicion, betrayal, and tension between two “best friends” until everything unravels in the most chilling way. Every chapter pulled me deeper into the drama, and just when I thought I had it figured out… nope. Another twist.
And full disclosure: I’m a little biased — one of the characters is named after me!! 😍 I don’t know if I’ll ever get over that surprise. Talk about a bucket-list moment.
This gem hits shelves on July 20th, and if you’re into smart, binge-worthy thrillers, you’ll want this at the top of your TBR. Trust me. 😉
I can never say enough great things about Miranda Rijks books, this one had so much going on keeps your eyes peeled to the page waiting to see what comes next. Craziness galore, great great book..perfect Chara ters, perfect amount of craziness. Love it!
Thanks to the author, the publisher and Netgalley for an early release of this book
I need a moment to gather my thoughts because, wow, what a uniquely crafted book this is! I’m absolutely loving it!
Amelia and Paige are close friends, but their relationship takes a dark turn when Paige, who initially helps Amelia after an online scam, has ulterior motives. As their daughters bond and the families grow closer, Paige secretly plots to ruin Amelia's life, aiming to steal her money, sabotage her business, and damage her marriage. Amelia remains unaware of Paige's true intentions. The story unfolds as a tense struggle between friendship and betrayal, questioning whether Amelia will uncover the truth before it's too late...
We’re treated to multiple perspectives from Paige, Amelia, and Marnie—a delightful array of characters. It’s refreshing to see Paige introduced as an unlikable and unrelatable character; she’s the kind of person who can really get under your skin if you let her, but that only enhances the reading experience! Meanwhile, Amelia and her daughter Marnie are quite likable, and each character is gradually developed with every chapter.
This book serves as a powerful reminder that not everything is as it appears. People often seem wealthy and put-together on the outside, but the reality can be quite different. It’s a timely reminder that judging others before truly getting to know them can lead to some serious miscalculations. And let’s not forget the age-old adage: “the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.” This theme resonates chillingly throughout the narrative, if that’s even possible! You’ll find yourself turning pages on the edge of your seat, eager to uncover who’s done what and why. And let’s be honest, we’ve all been scammed by some dubious mail from China at some point—was it Paige pulling the strings? Just kidding!
I’ve always enjoyed Miranda’s work, and I’m thrilled to say I wasn’t disappointed this time. This is undoubtedly one of her best! If you relish tales of lies and deception, cunning villains, unpredictable endings, and a whirlwind of twists that keep you guessing until the very last page, then this is the perfect read for you. I can’t recommend it enough! It’s suspenseful, and the revelations will leave your jaw on the floor! Don’t miss out on this chilling, dark, and utterly addictive read!
