Limerence: A dark romantic supernatural thriller of obsession and time

Rate this book
Kara and Dante.
You may not know them by name but you know them by deed. You feel them in the space between dreams and reality, in the inevitable crawl of time.

They have burned continents and sunk kingdoms. They’ve been worshipped and feared. Those in power call them demons. Those above power call them monsters.

They aren’t human but they once were. To each other, they are survivors, eternal mates and lovers. Their attraction is at the very foundation of existence.

When a virus older than memory returns, Dante must find a way to contain it before it injures Kara and corrupts the fabric of reality. Ghosts vanish, worlds shift, and the laws of physics can no longer be trusted.

As reality collapses, the two must return to the origin of their timeline to face the Abomination that still lurks there.

A richly woven fantasy about power, love, identity, and the weight of rewriting the world.

Lexy Delorme was born in San Diego, California. After graduating from the University of North Carolina School of law, various internships and years working in risk, tax, family, and international law, she now classifies herself as a recovering attorney.

With a father who served in the US Military, Lexy had a wandering lifestyle from her earliest days and in her time has been a pop musician, a science geek and a writer for magazines like Bonjour Paris and Playtimes. Throughout all of her different careers, her love of fiction has been a mainstay.

Within this eclectic life, she was also one of the first employees at 23andMe, a genomics and biotechnology company based in Mountain View, California and that experience influenced the genetic aspects of her Limerent Series, of which Caio is the first book.

For as long as she can remember she’s had characters in her head. As a child, these were the friends she wished to have. As a young woman, the lovers she wanted to find or the people she wanted to become. Writing fiction novels allows her the chance to give these characters a background, a story and a voice.

Having lived in in 3 continents, 9 US states, and 21 cities around the world, including London and Hong Kong, Lexy now lives in Paris with her French husband and two very cool sons. She is currently working on the next books in the Limerent Series.

Ohmygosh. I absolutely adored the book before this one in the series, so I jumped on the chance to read this one as quickly as I could. I did find it a bit easier to read this one because I had read the previous one, but honestly it could be read in any order. It is heavy on the sci fi and fantasy elements in a human world, but the author included a glossary to help you if needed. I was sucked into this story and kept running back to it when adulting made me put it down. Overall, this was a great read!

Dante knew something was wrong, but he never guessed it would be world altering. He went to investigate a potential virus site, and it was like nothing he had ever seen. Not only did it attack people, it attacked his ghost form and Kara. Nothing attacks Kara. He will burn the world down to protect her, but maybe it won’t come to that. But their safe place isn’t as safe as they thought, and there is a spy in The Office.

Thank you to Love Books Tours for the copy, all thoughts are my own.

Andddd she has done it again, WHAT an incredible read.
If you’ve not read any of Lexi’s books, you are seriously missing out. A deadly virus, supernatural soulmates & insane plot lines.
Limerence is book 5 in the Limerent series, but can also be read as a standalone (as can all the books).
I love that we get a mixture of old characters and new throughout this book, giving us the chance to see more development from the characters we already love, but also more to fall in love with (Liz’s story next pls?)
Lexi’s writing style truly is one of my favourites, and the entire plot to Limerence was incredible. It’s so refreshing to read something so unique, and so fun!
It does touch on difficult subjects, often in its own unique ways, but it’s definitely one where I’d recommend looking at the trigger warnings.
I’ve mentioned this with previous Limerent series books, but Lexi also writes incredible chronic pain/chronic illness representation. Nothing beats feeling seen within literature.

4 1/2 ⭐️ rounded up.
This is the 5th book in the Limerent series, which can be read as a standalone. I love stories that blend multiple genre elements together and Limerence does just that. We have time travel and paranormal elements in an urban fantasy. Of the five in the series, this is the third I've read and I love the author's writing style and pacing. The plot is so creative and fresh and delves into heavy topics thoughtfully. I'm looking forward to reading the other books in the series.
💖 Thank you so much to @LS_Delorme and @lovebookstours for this #gifted copy of Limerence! All thoughts expressed are my own.

I was in awe with this book! This is the third book I have read by Lexi and with each one I find myself falling in love with her writing. This one exceeded my expectations and that made me super happy! Kara and Dante are the main focus of this novel and I just can't get over of how much of an amazing team they are. Their relationship and Dante's protectiveness of Kara is just so lovely. I am looking forward to the next book in this series!

This is book five in the Limerent series. I have loved jumping into this world, it is truly an epic richly woven world that is truly immersive. As always I am trying to write a spoiler free review and not giving away any of the story line whilst talking about the brilliance of this book is tricky. I really enjoyed the fractious timelines and worlds, the journey that Kara and Dante got through is compelling and I know I will be back to re visit this series in years to come

If you've been following this series, this book is kind of the midpoint, and I can definitely feel is building up to something big. It's taking all the little bits and pieces we've gathered and I can tell the next book will be huge!

But that isn't to say this is a book to miss. We've seen glimpses of the main characters in this book - Dante and Kara - and this is their story! I've been wanting to know more about them for quite some time, and I was excited to read this one! But like all of the books in this series - and the author will tell you this herself with her own list of trigger warnings at the beginning of each book - it isn't for the faint of heart. So take your mental health into account, and then dig in for an absolutely wild ride.

Each book in this series feels a little different, and again, this one has some elements of a thriller or horror in a different way than some of the others. But as someone who can't really do horror, it wasn't too much for me - so gauge it with that information.

So much of this series, but especially this couple's tale, centers on the line between love and obsession, which is something I think we could all stand to take some time to explore. This author and this series allow a fantastic chance for you to do that. I don't want to get too much into the specifics of this book because I can't figure out how to without spoilers. But as always we see some familiar faces and some new ones, and we really start to see things come together.

Some of the books, the author says you can read as standalones, but this isn't one she really recommends doing that with. I agree. But then, you'll never really catch me recommending that much. My well worn philosophy is why read one book when you could read 2 (or in this case 5) awesome ones?

Can't wait to see the next one!

Limerence is the 5th book in The Limerent series. This was such a beautifully written story. The author's writing hooked me in from the very first page and I didn't stop reading until the end as I wanted to know what happened. The author's writing made me forget that I was reading as I was so absorbed in the story with the characters. I found the characters believable and relatable and the pacing was just right. Overall a brilliant novel that I highly recommend to other readers. I look forward to reading more by the author.
💝 Thank you to the author for my download of the ebook in exchange for an honest review.

4.5⭐️ Limerence is book 5 in the Limerent series by Lexy Delorme. It’s definitely worth reading the other books in the series before this one as characters found in this book are found in the other books and it’s good to have the background on them before diving into this book.

The main characters in this book are Kara and Dante who pop up in the previous books and are seen as the somewhat ‘bad guys’ but this tells their side of the story.

Dante is a ghost and Kara is a supernatural being and both have been around for more than one lifetime. They work/ run The Office. While book 4 talks about the Academy and the people with supernatural powers who work there, plus its dubious work, The Office is its rival/opposite. Kara and Dante focus on tracking down supernatural viruses that can mutate and ruin entire existences. While their methods can be controversial, they believe they are doing good.

The book follows Dante and Kara tracking down a specific virus which they have unusually seen outside of a body. While looking into the virus, they realise some of the Cambians (humans with special abilities) they monitor and their ghost watchers have gone missing. They have to figure out what’s happened to them and if it’s something that’ll put everyone in danger and is The Academy to blame?

I love reappearance of characters from previous books and love some of the new characters like Liz and Abi!

Lexy constantly writes books that captivate me from the first page and this isn’t an exception! I love reading more about the worlds and supernatural beings in these books and can’t wait for book 6!

Okay, first things first Limerence by L.S. Delorme is a ride. It’s one of those books that feels like you’ve fallen into a dream you’re not entirely sure you want to wake up from. Kara and Dante aren’t your average characters either, they’re ancient, powerful, and a little bit terrifying. Once human, now… definitely not. Their love basically fuels the universe, and when an ancient virus starts messing with reality itself, they have to find a way to stop it before everything literally falls apart.

Now, confession time: I didn’t actually realise this was part of a series when I started it (note to self: do better research next time). There were a few moments where the characters referenced past events or people and I was sitting there thinking, “WTF are they talking about?” But honestly, it didn’t ruin anything and you can still follow the main story just fine. It just means I probably missed a few clever references.

What I loved most is how it explores love as something big, not cute or fluffy, but ancient and destructive and eternal. Kara and Dante’s connection is intense in a way that feels both romantic and unsettling, which I actually really liked.

All in all, Limerence is weird, emotional, and kind of beautiful in that haunting, cosmic way. It’s not a light read, but if you’re into lyrical fantasy with mythic vibes and a love story that literally breaks reality, this one’s worth diving into.

It's only been a couple of weeks since I was last here with my review for the last book in this series and I'm so happy to be back with this, the fifth book in The Limerent series.

I once again have to point out just how absolutely gorgeous these front covers are and they look so good together on the shelf too!

I've been absolutely loving this series so much and the fact that this isn't my usual go to genre, yet I'm back for book 5! really is a testament to just how compelling and well written this series is.

I think the thing that keeps me coming back is the paranormal elements at play throughout and this book has this in spades.

We hit the ground running and I was completely immersed right from the first few pages.

This could have been because I went straight into this one pretty much after reading the last book, but I really just think the writing style draws you in and has you gripped from start to finish.

I loved our main characters, Kara and Dante and their relationship dynamics as they navigate the chaos around them.

I can't give any spoilers because I just want everyone to read this series and enjoy it along with me!

I get more and more intrigued as the stories layer.

I also have to say that I love the length of these books as I can easily devour them in just a couple of sittings ....however, this does mean I'm eager and impatient for more.......

Thank you to the author LS Delorme and Love Books Tours for this gifted copy, here is my honest review.

The tension in this book ratchets up as the impact of the Academy's plans begin to ripple out. Dante and Kara are slowly becoming aware of anomalies, missing ghosts, Cambions and strange occurrences. Piecing them together they strive to find just how deep the plan goes, just who is involved, is there a spy in their midst and what it all means for the world and everyone in it.

Familiar names appear such as Lazlo and Amelie as their stories all interweave into this one as we rush towards the inevitable.

This book also covers the awesome power and connection between Kara and Dante, their love and story is one that fascinated me and I can't wait to know even more about the power they control.

I enjoyed the fast paced nature of this book, the familiar storyline from the previous book was fleshed out further with this story which was fantastic.

The virus and its evolution throughout this storyline had me flipping pages with a growing horror that left me with goosebumps. Perfection!

The ending has me pacing, needing the next installment as it left us with a cliffhanger

Thanks to Love Books Tours and LS Delorme for the eARC.

Limerence by LS Delorme

I ate this one up, I haven't read anything like this before and was drawn to it by the stunning cover.

I read this as a standalone but will definitely be seeking out the others in the series. It worked well as a standalone, but until I read the others I'm not sure what interactions there will be that I might not have picked up on.

It interwove ghosts, ghouls, demons, gods, biological hybrids and all other numerous things. I loved the flow of Kara and Dante relationship and the interplay with the other characters and I'd love to get to know more about Liz! There's so much in it and I don't want to ruin anything, it's the interaction of the paranormal, physics and opposite organisations that feels a bit like a battle of good verses evil.

Check out the book blub, it does a better job than I can 😂

Limerence is book 5 in the Limerent series, and although it can be read as a standalone, I would recommend reading the other books first, as I felt a bit lost when I first started reading, as I had no insight into the world.

I loved Kara and Dante from the beginning. They have a love that spans the ages, and they would ruin the world for each other. Kara's IDGAF attitude and quick to anger respo ses are the things I love most about her and the way Dante can calm her down with just a touch or the right word is devine. The power she holds to unmake anything in this world and his devotion to even risk himself to stop her is what I love in a relationship like this. Their live is so dark but so sweet all at once.

The twists and turns throughout the story got me every time, I had no clue how it was going to end up and whenever I thought I did know what was going to happen, I was always wrong. This gives me great pleasure, being kept on the edge of my seat.

There was romance, suspense, science, ghosts and ghouls, gods, and monsters. I loved it

Thank you to L.S. Delorme and Love Books Tours for the opportunity to read and review this book!

Man oh man. I’ve said it in other reviews and this one will be no different. This author has continued to knock me off my feet with this series, and Limerence was just another wonderful installment in it. I joined this journey beginning with Bright Midnights (which is NOT the first book technically) and since reading the others have seen glimpses of Kara and Dante and was very interested in their story.

This author has the most amazing imagination and ability to tell a story. I am just amazed every time I pick up another one of her books. As I said before, I have been curious about Kara and Dante, and really enjoyed learning about them more in depth and experiencing their journey. This series just hits so different than anything else I’ve read, and I am absolutely addicted. I can’t wait to continue!

I had the pleasure of reading this incredible book after being gifted a copy in return for an honest review. Thank you to LS Delorme and Love Books Tours for this opportunity!

Limerence is the 5th book in The Limerent Series, however this can be read as a standalone. I have not yet read the other books but certainly will be after reading this one! LS Delorme has created such a magnificent storyline here, so I am eager to read more of her work.

My favourite aspect of the book was the romance between Kara and Dante. I’m a huge sucker for a love story and theirs was just perfection.

However, there is so much more to this story, so much more than I expected from reading the blurb. It was fast paced, and action packed throughout. I was drawn straight into the story from the beginning of chapter 1 right until the very end!

I may just have a favourite character… if you have read this book already you know it’s Abi😍

Okay....this is my first foray into The Limerent Series and at Book 5 I'm definitely late to this party. But as a first glimpse here are my thoughts.

From the opening moment I could sense that this was not a story that was meant to be passively read. Nope....this book demands attention! Delorme’s language is EVERYTHING. It's textured, but never indulgent...every sentence feels sculpted rather than written. The narrative is both ancient and immediate, cosmic yet intimately human which rendered me captivated throughout. There’s a certain rhythm to this storytelling...not just descriptive, but completely spellbinding.

In this story we follow Kara and Dante...two immortal lovers trying to save a collapsing world. When an ancient virus threatens to destroy reality itself, they’re forced to return to the very beginning of their story to stop it. The plot moves fluidly through shifting worlds and memories, blurring the lines between love and destruction. What really drives the narrative for me is their bond, it's fierce, flawed, and timeless...asking the mighty question of how far can love bend before it breaks. I mean wow right?

Limerence is beautiful, disorienting, and original...the kind that leaves a lingering spell long after you close that final page. What a journey...I definitely recommend!!! I'm off now to the find the rest of the books in this series.

This book has been an absolute delight to read i have enjoyed every moment. Considering this is actually part of a set i never would of known as it was easy enough to read as a stand alone. I haven't read any of the others yet but definitely will now.
You have:
Romance
Spice
Mystery
Thriller
Anda good story line that is easy to follow as books I have read like this before have either felt all over the place or just out right confusing.
The connection between the characters keeps you engrossed and on the edge of your seat for what will happen next with romance and a spice level of 🌶🌶 to different creatures like ghosts and ghouls it has everything you need for a good bit of psychological romance and some bits of horror sprinkled in. Not going to lie in also love Kara's take no shit attitude complete boss lady!

This is the 5th book in the series and although there are references to previous characters, I had no trouble getting straight into it. There are trigger warnings and it is understandable as right from the beginning, the book is full of drama and horror.
The previous book had a lot of sci-fi kind of content whereas this one definitely has a more horror and supernatural theme.

Parts of it run along side book 4 ghosting academy. You get the story of Amelie in Ghosting Academy from Dantes point of view at a certain part in the story which helps knit it together.

I found this book a lot easier to understand and get into and cannot wait for Book 6! I also found the Glossary at the end very helpful.

Having read all the books of the Limerent Series so far, I was excited to read this one. I was in no way disappointed. In this book, there is a deeper dive into Dante’s history and learn more about his relationship with Kara. He’s made appearances in the previous books but never to this extent. We also see more of the multiverse the author has created when it is threatened by a devastating virus that also threatens Kara. The book takes us down the road of exploring the reasons for mass killings and the media’s insatiable desire to exploit those involved. The book is very intense and needs the reader’s complete attention. Even though it’s very dark, there is Dante and Kara’s live story running throughout. I do think the whole series needs to be read in order to really grasp this book. I can definitely recommend this book and the entire series.

Ahhhhh the final piece of the jigsaw, Dante and Kara, I've been so excited for this brand new release! This is a love story between Dante; a ghost, and his supernatural lover, Kara. They are the enemies of The Academy (as introduced in book 4), but are they really as evil as we were led to believe?
These characters have only briefly been introduced in the earlier books of the series as mysterious figures appearing just prior to devastating events where many people have died, almost as if to be collecting souls. This beautifully written book is their story and their mission, exposing more of the Limerent Universe to its readers. It is absolutely one of my fave series and did not disappoint!

This is the 5th book in The Limerent Series but can be read as a standalone
I haven't read the others this was a first from this author and I will definitely be reading more and will be reading the others in the series
A dark twisted horror/supernatural so much detail but I read this all in one day just couldn't put it down I found the glossary really helpful which you can refer back to as your reading just loved there relationship and how the story unfolded.
There are some trigger warnings with this book so please check them out before you read

But would really recommend a richly woven fantasy about power, love, identity, and the weight of rewriting the world.

Limerence is the 5th book in the Limerent Series. It can be read as a standalone - I hadn’t read the others in the series, so it took me a bit of time to understand some of the concepts (such as being Cambion). Once I was in it though, it was well worth it! I will be going back and reading the earlier books.

The story itself was complex and interesting and I just adored Kara and Dante’s relationship. Well written and a definite recommendation from me.

So not only have I read and loved this book I recently went along to Lexy’s book launch for Limerence and had a wonderful evening with her and a few others.
I have become so intrigued by this series. The books can be read as a stand alone in some ways but come together with characters jumping from one book to another.
Limerence has given Kara and Dante the story I think I needed. Kara is so loving and Dante so protective it’s actually such an eternal romance and I love how they work together the dynamic just facinate me. I have enjoyed meeting some new characters yet again hoping to see more of them in the next few books.
Lexy writes in such away that I cannot put the books down it’s fast paced and so intriguing to see where the next book will take us in the series.
I look forward to the next book 😊😊

This book is number 5 in the Limerent series, but is meant as a standalone and was so easy to follow (without having read any of the others).
This story isn't like anything I've read before and I absolutely loved it. The blurb definitely drew me in, deadly virus aswell as supernatural soulmates? This had me hooked from the beginning.
I honestly loved everything about this story, it had me feeling tense, but also emotional. And sweet Abi, I love him to pieces

This is the 5th book on the series. It took me a few chapters to get into this one, it is different to the others, its more on the experiments on ghosts and ghouls and tracking the virus that infecting ghost and those at the Academy, there is a romance aswell, its dystopian and supernatural with a romance, I found this one interesting with the ghosts and seeing other levels of the place but I did feel the series was going backwards somehow like it was going back to how All the characters in the series started with the Academy, I liked it but didn't love it fanning fireflies is still my favourite book in the series.

I really enjoy this series, I was looking forward to diving back in and wondered what to expect. It was a great read with it's take on supernatural, combining a "computer" virus in the mix... don't worry it makes sense in the story and it's great! I love the direction it took and the clever way it linked back to Ghosting Academy. I really liked the characters Kara and Dante, Liz was really interesting and I'd love to read more from her perspective. I loved the mixture of old and new characters. I love LS Delorme's writing style, she hooks you into the story and knows what strings to pull on the reader. You go through a mixture of emotions when reading this series and I said it with the last book but I honestly can't wait to read more.

I love the writing style and how fast paced the book is and nothing will beat seeing the old characters return to the storyline. You can see how intricate the vision is for this series which needs to be admired 😍😍😍

Amazing! Felt like I was part of the book. The strong connection that Kara and Dante have was so incredible. I need to know how this war ends. I need to know Nipahs story. I’m very saddened by the unmaking of Abi. This book and your writing is incredible. Thank you for a beautiful story. Can’t wait to read your other books!
