He broke my heart. That cold, cruel Vampire King.

I was just an ordinary girl—or so the world believed. But being the only human born into a supernatural ruling family had its consequences. I fled their world, their power, and most of all… him.

Lucius, the Vampire King. The one who shattered me. The one I once loved.

Seven years ago, I walked away. I built a new life, far from the darkness he ruled. But I never escaped him—not really. Because while I tried to forget him… he never forgot me.

Now he’s back. Watching. Waiting. And when the shadows finally close in, he doesn’t just take me—he claims me.

He says it’s to keep me safe. But the way he looks at me? The way his hands linger, possessive and unyielding? It feels like something else entirely. Something dark. Something forbidden. Something that threatens to consume us both.

With war brewing in the supernatural world and Lucius at the center of it all, one question haunts me…

Can I survive him a second time?

Transfusion: King of Vampires is the 1st book of the Transfusion Saga by Stephanie Hudson. I will admit that I still love Dominic and I always will and Dom was the perfect man for Keira. But, after reading the Afterlife Saga I have been dying to dive into Lucius's story.

I have always thought there was something about Lucius that I wanted to dig deeper into. Lucius goes through so many different transformations but you always know that under it all, he's this big, sexy, gorgeous bad boy vampire who even has this tender side that is rarely ever seen. And when I stared in on this new saga I just couldn't wait to learn more about this elusive vampire.

Our new heroine in this saga is Amelia/Emmie/Fae who is the daughter of Dominic and Keira. Amelia is now 27, a historian/archaeologist. I love how she takes after her mom in her love of history. We know that 7 years ago something happened between Amelia and Lucius but we don't yet know what that is.

The night of a museum gala Amelia's dad arrives in her lab. At first, Amelia's dad offers to be her date for the gala, saving her from having to go on her own. He brings with him a gift. A box that he wants her to decipher. And if she needs help he suggests that she ask Lucius for help.

She takes the box home wanting to look at it more before leaving for the gala. But, she doesn't get the chance. Arriving at the gala, she looks for her father, but she finds Lucius instead. Her boss asks her to give a tour of one of the labs. Which she does with Lucius always there, watching her or at her back.

After the gala, Lucius takes her home and Amelia examines the box further including taking pictures. The next day, she takes the box to the museum to show Lucius. Lucius ends up taking the box with him.

This is Lucius's reintroduction back into Amelia's life not realizing that they are in a race against fate and time to save the entire vampire world. Hopefully we will finally get a chance to see them admit to each other and the supernatural world what they mean to each other.

There were times that just like in the Afterlife Saga and with Keira, there were moments that I wanted to just shake Amelia and knock her upside the head for being so naive and suddenly mad at everyone because of how naive she was. Honestly, I could understand why Lucius enjoyed calling Amelia “Princess” of course it was in a sarcastic tone – as though she was living in her own little bubble of a fantasy life.

I want to see Amelia grow and get a little bit more bad-ass, even a bit more kick-ass. I know that she's human, but her father is Dominic Draven a man who is half angel half demon, an Uncle like Vincent who is an Angel, Adam a bad-ass demon, and Aunts like Sophia and Pip who are both demons in their own rights – really you would think that Amelia would be more bad-ass and have more defensive abilities. Sure, she had one great scene showing her own skills, but other than that she was just too timid and tame.

Lucius is honestly no better, he's a bad ass, constantly worrying, panicking, anxious over Amelia's safety it's perfect in its hilarity. I couldn't help but find it hilarious how he was constantly losing his shit and couldn't comprehend Amelia not doing what he says and suddenly he's not sure how to handle her.

Honestly, I just loved the chemistry between Amelia and Lucius and I can't wait for the steam and the spice to hit. You just know that it's going to be off the charts hot.

But, this is a Stephanie Hudson saga and you know that her characters are going to grow and develop as the books move along. I really can't wait to see where this saga is going to go, I know that we are going to get all new secrets, we already got to meet the brand new Oracle, and boy do I like her.

The first half of this book was fast-paced full of action, suspense and there were so many times that I found myself laughing at Lucius's reactions to Amelia and her personality traits. She was always surprising him at every turn, her fighting skills, her brilliant mind, her weird and wonderful nerdy obsessions, her obsession with science fiction, her stubbornness, not listening to his orders, meeting him head to head no matter how dangerous the situation is.

And dang, we get the typical Stephanie Hudson cliffhanger. You know that just one book is not enough to do Lucius justice so thankfully you know that we are going to get many more books, like 13 more books to go. I can't wait to see where this series is going to go.

Gross! And Amazon was giving error codes when I tried to give 1 star

Sorry it was yuck when twilight did it and this series takes it to gag level. My book Shelf was empty so I tried the fIrst series, Afterlife, of this saga. I read 2 1\2 books of that series. Including skipping to the "end" of that series to learn the fates of the characters I did like. Despite all that skipping I followed the book fine and found out enough of what I wanted to know to satisfy. Including the birth of this female lead. This male lead is one I liked so I decided to check out his continuation. Then gagged when I read the name of his intended mate. The "reveal" in this book of what he did to break her heart says enough. HE LOVED / LOVES HER MOTHER. If this doesn't say enough and your not familiar with Afterlife series let me say it goes beyond she didn't love him back. The worst part is the author had a good way to tie up his story, a soul clone of her mother catie, and apparently didn't take it. Double disappoint. This author does do a decent job of keeping explicit parts from being repetitive despite the inflated number of them. Although the word channel used to describe vagina made me laugh. 5 stars? For any of these books, that's funny to.

ADHD on steroids…

Well, this story may have been interesting if you could wade through all the ‘rabbit holes’ and tangents that the author went on. I seriously wonder what happened to book editors, as novels like this seem to be published without anyone ever reading and cutting out all the extraneous stuff.

The idea of the story (vampire king/innocent girl) is a favorite trope of mine and the premise seemed great. The world building might have been good too, but as it would take pages and pages and pages of stream of conscious blathering to get any meaningful action or dialogue I just don’t know if the story was good or not.

The main character was so scatterbrained and could not keep on topic. Details are nice, but this book was nothing but endless details about everything but what was going on. I literally started skimming and then I started skipping huge portions of the book.

Not for me I’m afraid. I don’t even remember the fmc’s name, although I know her friend’s name is Wendy.

Transfusion; king of campus dark fantasy romancy

Amelia is in love with Lucius but is he in love with het or just tormenting her , will she ever go d out . The box her father have to get is deadly and more dangerous than anyone thought it would ever be. Can Amelia retreave it or will her clumsiness interfere again when she tries and ruin her chances of will she succeed. But the book and find out what happens next.Definitely need to read the book .

Certainly not what I expected.

The dynamics between Lucius and Amelie are hard core. The story nearly crosses the line into an area that I don’t like to tread. I have to decide on whether I’m going to read the next book.

Not quite what I was looking for.

Nicely written young adult romance. I didn't find the adult dark fantasy I was hoping for. I did finish it to find out what was in the box.

DNF ... I just couldn't do it. I don't even know if this ended up with potential. It started off pretty ridiculous and there was an over-usage of the word "as" within the first 13% of this book.

death by details

Way too many descriptions and details on everything made it difficult to get through. I ended up bailing on it.

This series!!! Yum! I took a chance and started it as it was a “suggestion” on my Kindle page. Holy cow! Was I in for a ride! I couldn’t put the books down! The characters were fun, HOT, and the series was well written. And yes, there were lots of steamy scenes and spice!
