Monsters' Bride Market

Bought by the Void Walker

Rate this book
I sold myself to a monster so I could kill him.
He bought me to save what’s left of his soul.

They say never meet a Void Walker’s gaze.

I made him look.

I stepped onto the auction block with blood in my teeth and revenge in my heart. Nezavek claimed me with one silent bid—and eyes that burned like stars.

Now I’m trapped in his shadowed realm, where reality bends, silence pulses, and heat coils between us like a living thing. He touches like he’s starving. Watches like I’m the last light in his collapsing world.

But he’s hiding secrets—about my sister, about the enemy hunting us both, and about the bond that’s tethering us tighter with every breath.

I came here to destroy him.
I never meant to crave him.
And I never expected to have to choose between vengeance… and desire.

Welcome to the bride market! Monsters bid, you choose.
This is a spin-off series to Arranged Monster Mates. We're back on Alia Terra with steamy stories told by your favorite paranormal romance Eva Brandt, Lia Frost, Cara Wylde, and Ava York.

He bought her. She came with knives, secrets, and a plan.

In a world where monsters rule and humans survive by being sold to the highest bidder, Yorika enters the bride market with one goal: get close to the Void Walker and destroy him from the inside. Nezavek is ancient, shadow-wrapped, and dissolving more each day. Yorika is the only thing keeping him solid, and she plans to use that. What neither expects is the bond taking root between them, or how it shifts everything.

The deeper Yorika dives into his realm, the more truth she uncovers, including the real force behind her sister’s fate. What started as a mission becomes a reckoning, and the only way forward is trusting the being she was sent to kill. Trust means risk. It also might be the only thing that saves them.

Their connection starts as tension, burns into need, and turns into something powerful enough to reshape them both. When the world threatens to fall apart around them, Yorika has to choose between walking away and stepping into a bond forged in fire, shadow, and choice. She's no longer hunting a monster. She's standing beside one.

Yorika grows from a blade hidden in a smile to a force anchored in purpose. Nezavek shifts from a fading shadow to a partner learning to feel again. What begins in suspicion becomes a relationship built on trust, power, and equal footing, one that neither of them saw coming.

A dark, steamy, enemies to lovers, forced proximity, monster-human fantasy romance with slow-burn tension, reluctant trust, and a bond that won’t let go. It explores identity, vengeance, grief, intimacy, sacrifice, power, and redemption. It’s about a woman who came to kill, a monster who came undone, and the connection that changed everything. At its core, it’s about letting go of vengeance, choosing purpose over fear, and finding strength in vulnerability and trust.

The Elevator Pitch: A steamy, monster-human fantasy where a deadly bride is sold to the very creature she intends to destroy. What begins as a mission of vengeance twists into a bond laced with power, trust, and undeniable heat. Magic, danger, and desire collide in a romance that reshapes everything it touches.

Bought by the Voidwalker features Yorika, human and Nezavek, Voidwalker/shadow monster. Yorika is determined to seek revenge for her sisters death and allows herself to be auctioned off in hopes of Nezavek buying her. Once he does, she learns that there is more to the story of her sisters death.

This was fine. I enjoyed the shadowy interdimensional being that was Nezavek but I feel like we didn’t get enough of him. The book was longer than a novella but still so short. I liked Yorika’s change of heart, although it was really quick.

Overall, fine but I just wanted more!

I skimmed because it bothered me that there’s no explanation on the other brides that the MMC purchased because they intrigue him. Like did he also slept with them?? I don’t like that the FMC was not the only one.

“I sold myself to a monster so I could kill him. He bought me to save what’s left of his soul.” This is the line that caught my attention and had my fingers tripping over themselves to place my order!

Yorika has spent three years hunting her sister’s murderer, honing her skills at every turn, readying herself for vengeance! She seeks him out, he allows her too!

Nezavek is the Void Walker, a shadow monster with tendrils (you’ll want to know about the tendrils) who she desperately wants to buy her…so she can exact her revenge.

But is he the enemy or is she chasing the wrong monster?

“We're two books on the same shelf, pages touching but stories distinct.”

My verdict: This book is dark, tense, and full of monster-romance energy that feels different to other MR tropes yet also familiar. The heroine, Yorika, is determined and fierce, the Void Walker, Nezavek, is powerful, tortured, and far more complex than he first seems, and the chemistry between them builds quickly in the best, most delicious ways.

Thoroughly enjoyed this, it adds another layer to the bride market/monster romance trope and hooked me enough, that I’ll read more of this collaboration series by
several other authors.

The setup was so damn cool, which makes it more upsetting that the way it was written made everything so awkward & choppy.

This needed more inner monologues & physical signs of emotion, because the mcs’ thoughts came off too clinical while the dialogue came off simultaneously too stale & too forced. The author didn’t let the sexual tension nor big revelations build up sufficiently; it was all rather abrupt. The first time Yorika is told of the bond, it’s thrown out nonchalantly in conversation & she does not question it, doesn’t even have much of a reaction. Even simple transitions within scenes were chaotic…. Like when Mikaere tells Yorika that “master is expecting her presence tonight,” disappears & immediately after Nezavek appears to talk to her, & from what I can tell since the progression in time between scenes wasn’t very clear to me, they don’t talk until the next day.

Yorika goes from showing absolutely no sign nor thought of physical attraction to Nezavek, to dreaming about him & suddenly thinking how her “traitorous body wants what it felt in that dream.” And on that note, I have to admit I hate when authors so heavily rely on sex dreams to build sexual tension. And, what makes it worse is when the mcs actually fully have sex in the dream instead of it being a teaser. I want more authentic, conscious relationship development.

The best (only good?) element of the story was Nezavek’s trippy home. It gave me Doctor Strange’s Mirror Dimesion mixed with Wonderland vibes. The library, of course, was the coolest part.

TLDR: Do you like a quick paced, monster-human pairing with explicit spice featuring tendrils and a strong female main character that can kick butt? You’ll like this.

Strong female main character. Usually with human/non-human pairings the power imbalance is part of their dynamic, so I appreciate that Yorika is a strong warrior on her own. I also like that the author changed it up a bit by making it the monster that needed the human.

Fast paced. The story unfolds quickly, but the author does slow down at times to allow sweet moments between Nezavek and Yorika that I really enjoyed.

Complex world building. It’s obvious the author enjoys creating and writing fantastical realities. The world the author creates is so different from our own that it can be a bit overwhelming, though I will say I don’t think it was too much descriptive text considering the complexity. The author stayed within scope of the story and provided world building necessary for the story.

Tendrils. Explicit spice with a shadow monster = shadow tendrils. Not too much and it made sense with the story line.

Yorika is a deadly warrior looking for the monster who killed her sister, and that is the only reason she is a prospective bride for auction at the Monsters' Bride Market. Nezavek is a Void Walker hunting for the creature responsible for her sister's death, and one look at Yorika is enough for him to know that she was meant to be his. Together they will become a formidable team that just might be the only way to destroy the monster responsible for the deaths of hundreds of innocents.
I loved these fascinating and well written characters. Yorika with her strength and determinations to avenge her sister, and Nezavek who may be a monster but when it comes to Yorika he can be a big ol' teddy bear. A wonderful monster romance with plenty of steam, and an unexpected twist or two made it impossible for me to put this book down. Another fantastic book, and a must read in a series I can't get enough of, so I will recommend this book and series to other readers.

"You'll attack within the week. Something clever, something you think we won't expect. You'll fail. The only question is whether you survive the failure."
"Confident."
"Experienced. Lord Nezavek has brought humans here before... They all think they're different. That they'll be the one to find the weakness everyone else missed."
"Maybe I am different."
"You're not."

I'm loving the Monsters' Bride Market series and was looking forward to reading this one. I really enjoyed this book. Good world building and wonderful characters. I liked both Nezavek and Yorika. She's a strong, smart, and calculating heroine- determined to kill the one she believes killed her sister. And she certainly is capable. The story was suspenseful and intense from the start and kept my attention to see what would happen and how a relationship could possibly form between the two of them. I also liked the supporting characters. This is the first story I've read by this author and I would read more. 4 stars

4🌟's for the Void Walker🌟🔥💖

The Monsters Bride Market bring us back to Alia Terra. Where humans are no longer the top of the chain. Yorika is a warrior special ops type. She's on a mission of vengeance, her sister was taken by a void walker and she will do whatever it takes to get her back or avenge her. Nezavek, is one of many Void walkers he is hunting one of his own kind that is destroying others , capturing them and displaying them in his crystal museum. When he sees Yorika he know instinctively that she is a compatible mate, but also knows she's has vengeance in her heart and blames him for something. as they are drawn together they fight their attraction until Yorika realizes she's fighting the wrong male. When they join forces and their hearts meld they fight together to stop the evil surrounding them and free those that have been hurt. Solid book in the series. I'm looking forward to reading the others. 🔥💖🌟💖🔥🌟🔥💖🌟💖🔥🌟💖🔥🌟🔥💖🌟

Bought by the Void Walker returns the reader to Ali Terra and this time with women who are not maidens, or have never been matched with a monster, for them there is the bride market, a public auction where monsters bid, and the bride chooses.
Will she or won’t she go with the highest bidder?
This is Nezavek and Yorika’s story, and she has a reason for entering the market and that reason is Nezavek the Void Walker who has just offered a very high bid for her, and set her plans for him into motion.
I enjoyed this perfectly written little adventure that is immersed in drama, intrigue, danger, action, personal vulnerability, bonding, revelations, emotion, and passion.
The world building was excellent and the characters well crafted and engaging.
An excellent read all the way through to it’s HEA.

This is the second book in the Monster's Bride Market series. I'm not sure how this happened, but even though this was the second book in the series, I ended up reading it last. Ultimately, it didn't really matter because each story in the series are standalones that happens in an interconnecting world of Alia Terra. The author in the book may have been the poster child for the edict of "Show, don't tell." She did a wonderful job painting a technicolor picture with words and I have to say, it felt like I was watching a movie in my mind, more than anything. The vivid details made the couple's journey much more compelling for me. My only wish was for the story to be a bit longer. It had great writing, excellent storytelling, and top tier spice. Overall, a very good read.

The Void Walker Nezavek bought a bride who wants to kill him

He knows she wants to kill him but there's a bond that called to Nezavek. Yorika thinks Nezavek is the monster that killed her sister Melara three years ago. Gradually their bond draws them together. Yorika is a trained soldier with the skills and weapons to kill Nezavek but he is able to share his dreams and memories with her. Things change when Yorika accepts him and bonds with Nezavek. Unfortunately the Bone Collector finds the pair and nearly destroys them and their home. Nezavek risks himself to save Yorika and she stubbornly returns to save him right back. The pair complete the Bond and destroy the Bone Collector and free all the people he crystallized in including Melara. They now have a new purpose and are geared across the Voids.

For Science
An easy 5 for me. Not a big book but a story that had all the bits. It had hero, villain and victim. I totally loved how the Void world was detailed. So loved the secondary characters especially the librarian.
A tragic event leads to revenge. The same event has led to a hunt. A soldier with guilt that eats ar her. He feels it as soon as he sees her on the block. Could it be the answer to surviving? He knows what she's thinking as soon as she thinks it. She's fights herself hard he sees that also. Does he push harder or giver her time that no one has.
The villain visited. Threatened and now waits. The hero's find out things about one another and themselves. Enjoy this fab story!

Part of the Monster’s Bride Market series, set on Alia Terra. Nezavek, searching for The Bone Collector, is just getting ready to leave when he feels a draw to a silver haired woman on the auction block. Yorika is looking to be bought by a specific vendor, someone she believes to be the one who is responsible for her sister, Melara’s death. Set on revenge, she didn’t anticipate falling for her buyer. Steamy, monsters, auctions, revenge, and a love that spans the dimensions. This fast paced read was a welcome distraction to life in the real world.

Loved it. Great story of deep pain, great love and being set free.

This book is about a Void Walker a being made from the void itself and internal willpower. The Void Walker wins a bride at the bride market. From there we meet a female warrior, she is power, strength, skill, knowledge and incredible determination. The two are connected by a bond that they feel right away but in other ways also. Together they fight their shared enemy. They fall in love and they free those who are trapped. Trapped by their enemy who's victims are suffering a horrific existence. It is a love story however it is so much more.

Like a slow version of Neil gaimans dream meets chick warrior romance. Delightfully fanciful illiteration. The plot was weak however. Still cute and on double speed it was fast enough for forgiveness. I had to slow down to catch several descriptive ideas, and loved the immortal being baiting and playing with her as someone who lived and learned for several thousand years could as a breath and a step too close mad her head swivel and her he proximity made nothing but his mouth the focus of her attention. I was happy to have read it and I’d have put it at a 4 for the overall experience and a 3 for plot… if it hadn’t been for the moments I just don’t want to forget. Thanks author!

Epic Monster Hunting
Yorika and Nazavek's story is my introduction to the the Monsters' Bride Market series.  What a fabulous book, with brilliant characters, heartbreaking scenes and vengeance supreme.Nazavek is a void walker - a monster, and he's on a trajectory to meet Yorika following another of what he sees as a failure to stop a Monster.  Their journey to each other is filled with darkness and loss, but is a really great read.
I was lucky enough to receive an ARC and am happily leaving a review.

An adventurous and dangerous story. Yorika will stop at nothing to get revenge of the being who killed her sister. A strong and determined woman, she will find herself in a realm she has no control over. Truths and lies will change everything. Nezavek is the void walker. A creature of more shadow than anything else. Able to do unbelievable things and beyond dangerous. Especially for women seeking revenge. The story has two amazing main characters and two side characters that just make the story so much more. The author has written such a unique story that had me reading nonstop.

Thank you Booksprout and Ava York for the ARC!

What a wild ride with twists at every turn. A world that's ever changing and complex, a revenge plan and a sweet Shadow who made a promise, all making you want more. The writing was unique and engaging, held my attention better than most novellas seem to. While I loved the story and pacing, I do wish their romance was explored more and we got to see it develop more.

He presses his forehead to mine. "We need to stop almost dying."
"Agreed. It's exhausting."

Ps: Nezavek, I love you.

Yorika goes to the bride market with revenge in her heart .
One look and Nezavek feels the perfect resonance.
She chooses him and she finds that her rage is misdirected and that Nezavek is way more than she thought.
Together they travel a hard path full of danger ,deception and an evil enemy.
Well written,a rich and imaginative plot, good world building and well developed characters in this new addiction to The bride market series.

More of a Sci-fi read than love story

I found it difficult to get invested in the characters. It was too big of a concept for so few pages. Either it needed more pages or less concepts. The drawn out interactions with the sister could have been taken out and maybe more between the two main characters so we could care that they fell in love. Felt more like science fiction focus and less like a love story. I gave it a four instead of three because I think it’s worth reading since the plot is new to Alia Terra and the characters are interesting.

4.9 glowing stars! I absolutely loved this story! The descriptions are vivid and detailed and there are a lot of poetic and beautiful moments, e.g. in the stories Nezavek tells. Yorika comes in swinging, a woman filled with rage, grief, and a massive thirst for revenge. Nezavek is desperate for a mate to keep himself and his realm from falling to pieces. Watching these two get together was great fun! There were a few garbled sentences and a few switches of names, but not enough to distract from a wonderful read. The spice came a bit out of nowhere, but it was as spicy as spice can be ...

Revenge and Renewal

A quest for revenge on the monster who killed her sister leads Yorika to the Bride Market and a Void Walker. She’s fierce and cunning, ready to enact her retribution on this fierce being. Only, things are not what they seem at all. Her time in the void starts with rage, determination and unresolved grief but ends with love, laughter and purpose. I really enjoyed it.

The number one reason I keep getting drawn back into this MAS and the Alia Terra universe is because of gems like this.

The surreal void world where this monster exists is like none I’ve ever read and the descriptions are so beautiful.

And then there’s the actual big bad that has to be defeated with its twisted horror and intense fight scenes but the justice and happy ever after with gorgeous prose

Even though each book it's a stand alone it leaves you craving for the next couple. This is my third book in this series and have enjoyed each one. In this one who said Voids can't crave companionship. She is walking contradiction between of what she is feeling and what she really wants.

Oh my goodness yes!

This is my first ever Ava York book and I loved it! This book has bite and intelligence. Don't get me wrong I love books with fluff too that can be unserious but I genuinely loved this one. Both characters are smart and emotional. I felt triumphant by the end. I'll definitely be reading more by this author.

Really lovely

I don't review books often because I read about 35 per week and it's hard to keep up with. This book 100% earned the 5 stars and the review.

I genuinely cried multiple times during this. It was a beautiful story and not just the regular mindless smut I was actually kind of looking for lol. It was my first experience with this author but not my last.
