Major League meets Ted Lasso, with a hint of Three Men and a Baby in this age gap, surprise pregnancy romcom set in the Pacific Northwest.
As social media director for the Rose City Roasters, Dani Bernal is no stranger to high-stakes pressure or hot men in baseball pants. She’s sharp, witty, and one-hundred-and-ten percent committed to keeping things professional—even when the team's gruff and guarded general manager makes her want to test every HR policy in the book. One night. That’s all it was supposed to be. That is until Dani finds herself staring down a positive pregnancy test. Suddenly, she realizes the real game has just begun.
Between his daughter's obsession with The Great British Bake Off, a team gunning for back-to-back World Series titles, and a reputation for keeping his personal life tightly locked down, Brooks already has enough on his plate. Falling for the tatted-up pixie in combat boots was never part of the playbook, but no matter how hard he tries to resist, Dani crashes through his carefully ordered world like a line drive to the chest—messy, magnetic, and impossible to ignore. Brooks let Dani go once before, convinced it was for the best, but walking away from her a second time feels impossible... especially after he finds out she's carrying his baby.
The bigger the stakes, the harder the fall—and this time, love might be the curveball neither of them saw coming.
Addicted to Glove is the third book in the Rose City Roasters baseball series. This age gap, surprise pregnancy romance between a tatted-up, bisexual goth girl and a broody, vegan daddy (in all manners of the word) features sneaky sex, gratuitous baking content, sensual leg shaving, an almost entirely LGBTQIA+ supporting cast of characters, a girl gang that plays Dungeons & Dragons, and men who cuddle cats.
Kelly Reynolds has done it again! I might have to start watching baseball; these books have me so addicted! "Addicted to Glove" is a surprise pregnancy age-gap romance that shocked me. I usually don't like accidental pregnancy stories, but Kelly found a way to make the trope feel fresh and well-written. I loved the dynamic between Dani, the Rose City Roasters social media director, and Brooks, the Rose City Roasters head coach. They have such a spark, such chemistry with one another, and excellent banter with each other. Dani and Brooks are quite opposite, but when they are together, they make it work for them. And Brooks has a dirty, dirty mouth, my goodness. I was hooked on their hooking up. Despite being someone who doesn't want to have kids, I found myself strangely identifying with Dani's pregnancy journey. I think that's what I love about Kelly's writing: she makes things so relatable, so honest, so easy to understand, that I could see myself in the character's shoes. I also loved Brooks's dynamic with his six-year-old daughter, Carolina. What a cute kid!!! And a terrific, mostly healthy relationship with his ex-wife. More of this in fiction! I loved how Carolina flocked to Dani and seemed to love her even before finding out she was pregnant. AND THE SPICE. Don't even get me started on how good it is! I would read 80 more books in this series. Check this one out ASAP!
Thank you to Kelly Reynolds and Torch Lit Ink. for the complimentary ARC of this book. All opinions are my own. I was not compensated for this review.
“The girls, gays, and theys all wanted a piece of the Rose City Roasters.”
Another great trip to Rose City cheering on the Roasters baseball team, this time with the coach and PR manager. Dani Bernal was previously having a fling with Coach Brooks Bailey-Ward, and when they rekindled on New Year’s Eve they certainly walked away with more than they expected.
“I’m in this for as long as it takes. And please, believe me when I say that I’m prepared to play the fucking long game if I have to.”
I enjoyed seeing Dani and Brooks navigate a surprise pregnancy on top of a new relationship. They both wanted to be better than they had.
“I’ve got all the stamina in the world where you’re concerned, even when it comes to cuddling.”
I also loved all the cameos from the Roasters ! I am excited to see who is next.
🔥: “All the way in, kitten. Right where I belong.”
I loved this book! This is the first book that I read by the author and I can’t wait to read more! This is the third book in the series but I read it as a standalone. I followed along fine but the book was so good I want to go back and read the others. Brooks is the broody, grumpy, tattooed, green flag MC and I loved him. Him and Dani complement each other so well. It was easy to see how much they cared about each other. Even though they tried to stay away from each other their chemistry was undeniable. The spicy scenes were so good and all of the characters were so great! Especially Brooks daughter, she was adorable. I loved their little found family

Thank you to the author and Torch Lit Ink for the arc!
Holy Shit! Brooks is described as Gabe Kapler and I’m here for it 1000% I went into this book blind never reading a Kelly book now I think I’m going to go add her whole list to my TBR! Brooks and Dani’s love story is nothing short of amazing the fears of parenting and steeping into roles you never thought you would. The struggles Dani has as a person how she fought hard to become herself and own her identity and make it clear she wanted to be a mom and herself! I only wish I could have been that strong absolutely will be offering this book up when it’s out!
Dedication: For the women who dream of motherhood and the women who’d rather raise hell than children—your choice is valid, your story matters, and you are whole either way.

If you like your baseball spicy, your coaches tatted, and your social media managers accidentally pregnant—Addicted to Glove is your ballgame.
Addicted to Glove is the fourth installment in the Rose City Roasters series, and it brings the heat in more ways than one. We’ve got Dani, a sharp-tongued, combat boot-wearing, bisexual goth girl who manages the team’s social media like a boss. She’s snarky, whip-smart, and has zero time for feelings until one forbidden night with the team’s grumpy, hot, vegan coach results in a little… surprise. (Yes, the kind that takes 9 months to arrive.)
Brooks, our inked-up, emotionally constipated baseball daddy (think Gabe Kapler meets Luke from Gilmore Girls with a side of grunts and a filthy mouth), is used to keeping his personal life locked down. One secret hookup, one surprise baby, and suddenly it’s not just spring training—it’s a full-on emotional World Series. Watching these two grown-ass adults stumble into love, one sourdough starter and sensual leg shave at a time, was pure magic.
The banter cracked like a home run, the found family gave full chef’s kiss energy, and somehow, the sourdough starter stole the show. While the character depth could’ve gone deeper and Dani’s growth sometimes felt like it got left on base, the D&D girl gang, GBBO-obsessed daughter, and a dadchelor party worthy of its own spin-off made this an emotional grand slam.
This read is low-angst, full-heart, and spicy in all the right innings. If the Roasters were a real team, I’d be a season ticket holder in the front row, screaming my lungs out for Coach Daddy Brooks. Now excuse me while I go research how to move to a fictional city.
I received an ARC copy and wanted to leave an honest review.
ARC Review: Thank you to Kelly Reynolds and Torch Lit Ink. For sending me an advanced copy of Addicted to Glove to read and review.
One thing that drew me into wanting to read this book is that it was described as Ted Lasso meets baseball, and that description is so accurate. This is the third book in the series, but can be read as a standalone. These characters are so funny, and they have heart. Now, I need to read the other books in the series!
Brooks is the manager of the Roasters. A pro baseball team out of Oregon. He’s a little grumpy, he’s got tats, looks great in a pair of baseball pants, and he wears black frame glasses. After a one-night stand with his former lover, Dani, he learns that he’s going to be a father again. He’s all in. He was in the prime of his career when Carolina was born, and he’s determined to be there for everything. If ever there was a green flag MMC, Brooks is it. Oh, and did I mention he has a filthy mouth? I think my favorite part of the book was the dadchelor party.
Dani is the social media coordinator for the Roasters. She never really gave any thought to motherhood, but she knows she wants to be better than her mom. She’s bisexual, tattooed, plays Dungeons & Dragons, and can hold her own in any situation. She may not say it in so many words, but she’ll show that she cares. There are so many cute moments in this book between Dani and Brooks. This book is extremely low-drama and low-angst. These characters are in their 30s and 40s, and they actually communicate with each other.
Brooks’s daughter, Carolina, is six years old. She’s obsessed with the Great British Bake Off. In this book, she enlists Brooks and Dani to help her name her sourdough starter. This starter actually plays a pretty big part in the story.
Thank you Kelly Reynolds and Torch Lit Ink for the ARC of Addicted to Glove, the third book in the Rose City Roasters series. All opinions are my own. Dani Bernal finds herself unexpectedly pregnant with the coach’s baby—the same man she once had a fling with, and one more unforgettable night with, outside a bar on NYE. Now she and Brooks are tied together for the long haul. Brooks, a man of few words but steadfast intentions, has always cared for Dani. He let her go once, and he’s determined not to make that mistake again. Dani, wary and easily spooked, has to decide if she’s ready to let him in. This book was such a delight—sweet, funny, and surprisingly sexy! I loved that there’s no third-act breakup, just two people figuring it out with plenty of swoon-worthy moments. Brooks reminded me of Luke from Gilmore Girls—gruff exterior but an absolute softie with the right woman. The team dynamic adds so much fun, and I really appreciated the diverse cast of characters. While this works perfectly as a standalone, it definitely made me want to pick up the earlier books in the series!
This book had me smiling, melting, and sighing from start to finish. Brooks Bailey-Ward, or Coach Daddy, was everything, just so swoony in every small detail. Dani was amazing too, strong and independent but still soft in the moments that counted. The way Brooks cared for her with all the little things was honestly heart-stopping. Their connection felt mature, real, and so warm, with plenty of fire but also tenderness that hit deep. The whole Rose City Roasters world was cozy, and the found family vibes gave the book so much heart. The writing had this addictive, easy flow that kept me hooked, and I closed the book already wishing I lived inside this series. Thank you so much to the author and Torch Lit Ink for giving me the opportunity to read the book in advance, I received this for free and I'm leaving an honest review.
This was my first Kelly Reynolds book but it for sure won’t be my last! I loved this sweet unexpected pregnancy romance. Dani and Brooks were meant for one another and it was clear from the very beginning. I loved the easy relationship between the two of them. The way he supported her through every decision and milestone. The relationship Brooks had with Carolina was so sweet. The way she warmed up to Dani so fast & was so excited to be a big sister. These 3 gave me all the feels. The flow of the story was on point & the spice was just the perfect amount without being too much. I will for sure be checking out the other books in this series!
If you love a single dad baseball romance then this is you’re kind of book. If you just like spicy baseball romance then this is also your kind of book. We got introduced to the idea of Dani and Coach Daddy in book 2, but we were thrown all in during this book. Coach Bailey-Ward is every girl’s total fantasy dad and Dani is a total baddie in her own right. I absolutely loved this entire series so much and could not get enough. I laughed and I cried and I couldn’t put it down. Cannot recommend enough.
This book was so good & hit HOME on so many points during the story! I love that the author is child free by choice but wrote about an accidental pregnancy & she wrote it SO WELL! This is the third book in the series & I probably should’ve done more research before signing up for the ARC but I was not super lost just a little confused on who the people were but she explains it well throughout the book!!
I was selected for an arc review! I’m rounding it to a 4.5 stars! We have a green flag single dad with a goth Barbie who is scared of letting people in.. fate intervenes and during a moment of weakness of back and forth hookups with hidden feelings… makes an accidental pregnancy! This was super low angst, good feel vibes, with over the top banter with definite PNW aesthetic. It was cute.
This book is officially my favorite of the series so far! Dani and Brooks have my whole heart. I absolutely adore them both so much. Their story had me hooked. I was smiling, swooning and sweating the whole time! And little Carolina was a hoot and a half. If you like romance books filled with humor and heart, this book is for you. I highly recommend it!
Was thrilled to hear that Dani was getting her own story. Especially after reading Brock and Tucker’s story. You will love this if you love: age gap, sports romance and don’t mind a surprise pregnancy then Dani and Brooks story is for you. Their story can be read as a standalone. Their story was spicy. Kelly doesn’t disappoint when she writes spicy chapters between her main characters.
Thank you so much to TorchLink & Kelly Reynolds for a copy of this!
This book is out now!
Kelly's baseball series has become one of my favorites that I look forward to reading whenever a new one is finished. These books are interconnected stand alones so you technically do not need to read the others BUT I highly recommend that you do.
"You scare the hell out of me, kitten." "Good, means you'll come running." "Always."
The biggest trope of this book is one that is not a favorite amongst romance reader but I honestly do not mind - surprise pregnancy. We see Dani in the present learning she is in fact pregnant and get a flashback of the night that the child was conceived and also who it was with. I mean I do not blame her especially when Brooks was modeled after Gabe Kapler -WHEW (Don't think I don't miss looking at him when he was the Phillies manager sorry Topper). I have not read many pregnancy books so I'm not sure if its the norm but I like that we knew pretty much right in the beginning that Dani was pregnant. It was not something that happened mid way through the book. I love that we got to see Dani's journey through the 7 months leading up to the birth.
Brooks oh Brooks. He was such a good man. He was so gone for Dani when she was still trying to figure out her feelings. I am usually not a super fan of pet names in books (I have no clue why when my husband has his own for me) but I really loved hearing him call her kitten and then the tattoo - SWOON. He just always wants to be the one to take care of those he loves and once he learned that Dani was pregnant, he went into full Papa mode. We had already seen glimpses of this with his daughter Carolina who is THE DARN CUTEST LITTLE thing!!!! I love her love of baking. I would trust anything she bakes. The way he treated Dani throughout the pregnancy was just so darn sweet. And I just love when the gears started to turn for her that maybe just maybe this was a forever thing with him.
"Kitten, you should know by now that there's nothing casual about my feelings for you."
THE SPICE. Lord I knew that Kelly could write spice but in this one WHEWW. I know two of the intimate scenes may be slightly unrealistic but for the sake of the book - another WHEWWWW. These are two people who started out as hook ups and based a lot of their earlier relationship on just that alone. But their connection became so much more than that. I kind of wish we saw more of them opening up together but we did get to hear some of the vulnerable conversations. I just love how he did not want Dani to be anyone but herself and to not change for him or for their child. They just were insanely in love with one another and it showed.
I love seeing cameos from the other Roasters and their gals & guy. I cannot remember how many more of these we are getting but I will be looking forward to the next one and the one after that!
I highly recommend if you love a spicy, workplace romance with pregnancy set around baseball season!
Full disclosure notice: the author kindly provided me with an ARC (advanced reader copy) in exchange for an honest review.
OK, so if you'd told me 5 years ago that I'd not only be requesting sports romance ARCs, but also a sports romance arc where the core trope was a surprise pregnancy, I'd have thought you were certifiably insane. So it's a mark of just how much I love Kelly Reynolds' writing that I did, indeed request this ARC, was lucky enough to be chosen for it, and enjoyed it enough despite the trope to give it a solid four-star rating.
So what was it that I enjoyed so much, despite the pregnancy storyline? Pretty much everything else, to be honest. I loved seeing Dani and Brooks start to work together as a team, and I really enjoyed the way they communicated with each other (at least once Brooks learned about the pregnancy) like grown-ass adults. I absolutely LOVED the amicable relationship between not just Brooks and his ex Allie, but between Allie and Dani. I even - GASP - enjoyed the relationship between Dani and Brooks's daughter Carolina.
Plus Dani's girlgang of supportive friends is a thing of beauty (and the fact that they're D&D nerds just makes everything even better). I'm now pretty sure that I will happily read WHATEVER Ms Reynolds writes: any trope, any genre. And the fact that the next book in this series features an FMC we meet in this installment who's autistic-coded (possibly officially autistic? I still haven't read Books 1 and 2 yet, so she might well have been explicitly described as autistic in an earlier, but I don't remember seeing the description in this one) means I am 100% invested in finding out where the series goes from here.
This pregnancy romcom has some seriously relatable moments, especially since I'm currently pregnant. Dani Bernal is the Rose City Roasters social media director and she had a steamy short-lived romance with the Roasters manager, Coach Brooks. Although, they both have feelings towards one another, a major complication is that they work together.
Coach Brooks is also a single father to an adorable six-year-old named Carolina. She is obsessed with baking and her favorite show is the Great British Bake-Off. She has also started her sourdough journey and has enlisted both Dani & Brooks to help her name the little creation. The current name of MY sourdough is Feyre Doughling! So this was another cute relatable moment for me!
Things start to get complicated when Dani finds out she is pregnant with Brooks' baby and doesn't exactly know how to tell him. Things haven't exactly changed and she is unsure if he would be happy or upset.
"She was going to know what it felt like to have arms around her, steady and safe. To be chosen, every single day. To laugh in the kitchen while pancakes burned and cuddle on the couch beneath blankets and sticky plates."
Brooks has been in love with Dani since before she got pregnant and he wants to be with her throughout the ups and downs. He has shown her time and time again that she can count on him and he won't let her down. He is willing to go the extra mile to show how much he cares for her and that's what women really want. The acknowledgement and love can go a long way in their hearts. This romance may have started messy but if they can overcome the obstacles then grab a copy & start reading! You won't be disappointed 😌

Happy release week to Addicted to Glove by Kelly Reynolds, the third book in her Rose City Roasters baseball romance series. I know absolutely nothing about baseball, but am a big fan of Reynolds books, so I was very excited to receive a review copy of the book to share my thoughts with everyone.
Dani and Brooks have one night that tests the rules of the club they’re the social media manager and general manager for (respectively). But that one night ends in a surprise pregnancy that neither were expecting - or are willing to walk away from. Balancing their work relationship, the team and a pregnancy forces them to decide what they want out of life and their relationship with one another in a fun story with characters in their 30s and 40s.
The book is delightfully queer - almost all the supporting cast identify on the queer spectrum - and showcases some strong friendships and found family elements. Brooks is. a single dad who missed most of his daughter’s early milestone’s while playing professionally and looking for the chance to do things differently this time around, while Dani is challenging her own expectations for what she thought she wanted out of life. Reynolds writes fun, engaging and interesting stories, and this is no exception, even when it includes a trope (the surprise pregnancy) that’s never my favourite and it still works. I definitely need to go back and catch-up on the first two books in the series, because this one was delightful.
I received a review copy in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
✨️ARC Review ✨️ – Addicted to Glove by Kelly Reynolds ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This is the second book in this series I’ve been lucky enough to ARC read for Kelly, and I swear I love her baseball world more with each release. The characters are so well written and connected, but none have captured me quite like Dani and Brooks (so far).
Dani is fierce, independent, and unapologetically herself. She runs socials for the team, knows exactly what she wants, and doesn’t bend to fit anyone else’s mold. Brooks, on the other hand, is the coach-daddy single dad of the team—reserved, steady, and protective. Oh, and he calls her kitten… and I am a sucker for a good nickname 😍😍😍.
Their relationship isn’t exactly conventional—workplace dynamics, a bit of a boss/employee vibe, an age gap, different life stages—but the pull between them is undeniable. I especially loved how Dani was written; Kelly made sure becoming a mum didn’t erase her identity or individuality, and that balance was so refreshing to see.
The Chaos Crew brought their usual madness and support, while the baseball team provided their own brand of banter and brotherhood (because let’s be honest, a team full of grown man-children is bound to be hilarious).
This is a light-hearted, sweet accidental pregnancy romance that had plenty of swoon and laughs. I did lose a little momentum toward the end, but overall I really enjoyed both the story and Kelly’s writing.
📚 ARC Review ⚾ Addicted to Glove by Kelly Reynolds 🗓️ Releasing on September 18th
This is the first book I’ve read by Kelly Reynolds even though her books have been on my TBR forever. I’m so glad I was selected as an ARC reader as it gave me the perfect reason to finally dive in, and wow, I am hooked!
Honestly, I fell in love with this one from the dedication and then the very first line sealed the deal (if you know, you know). From that moment on, I couldn’t put it down.
As someone who once thought I’d be child-free but now has two amazing kiddos, a full-time career, and a coach-daddy of my own, Dani’s story resonated so deeply with me. Kelly’s writing is witty, heartfelt, and seamless. She balances humor, sarcasm, and swoony moments in a way that just hits.
The quirky, fun cast of side characters pulled me in even more, and now I can’t wait to read the rest of this interconnected series. I’m already obsessed with seeing how it all weaves together!
And let’s just say, the final line left me with a book hangover in the BEST way: “Noted. I told you once, kitten, I’m playing the long game.” Be. Still. My. Heart.....
Tropes you’ll find inside: ⚾ Surprise pregnancy ⚾ Age gap ⚾ Care taking ⚾ Nicknames
Kelly Reynolds officially has a new fan, and I can’t wait to devour more of her books!
📚📚📚 I loved this one!! Something about surprise pregnancy trope reads just grip me so much! Brooks had me obsessed with every quality he has!! I was smiling to blushing with Dani when he called her Kitten!! Dani I really enjoyed as our FMC, the strength she had was everything!! The naming of the starter had me giggling hard. This one has great spice and the writing just kept me completely consumed the entire time. I finished this one in one sitting. The Rose city Roasters are all my favs. But Coach Daddy will forever be living in my head rent free. I highly recommend this one!
📚📚📚 If you like to read: - Surprise pregnancy - “Coach daddy” - 30-something alt-goth girly - Sensual leg shaving - 40-something vegan dad - Tattooed x tattooed - Age gap - Workplace romance - Single dad - Small town - Baseball - Black cat heroine x Rottweiler boyfriend - “Who hurt you?” … You should definitely check this out
📚📚📚
Thank you so much for sending me a copy for an honest review in my own words. #giftedcopy
Dani Bernal is the social media manager for the Rose City Roasters and Brooks is the team manager. They are HOT for each other. Dani is slightly closed off and wants to keep things professional. Brooks definitely has some feelings. New Year’s Eve makes for a steamy situation… and a pregnancy. Brooks’ is already a dad, but Dani is afraid to tell him. Not sure how he’s going to react, and not sure about what she wants. This is the third installment of the Rose City Roasters, but can be read as a standalone.
There are aspects about this book that I absolutely loved and there are aspects of this book that I could have done without. I absolutely loved Brooks and Dani. I loved who they are as people and their personalities. Dani is sassy and fun. Brooks is such a cinnamon roll MMC at heart. He’s thoughtful and sweet. The scenes of him and his daughter really make your heart melt.
This book has a ton of spice in it. More than it really needed. There are definitely some places in the book that it really fit, and it was decently written. But honestly, it was overkill and I started to just skip those scenes. After a while, I wanted more of the non spicy scenes, the scenes where you get to read about the real connection between Dani and Brooks.
Overall, it was a good book. I’m not the biggest fan of the surprise pregnancy trope, but it worked in this book.
I really adored this book. Because of Brooks, I really have now adored the nickname kitten and I... was not the type of girl to ever like pet names like that.
DAAANI DAANI DAANI - I know what it's like to not want to burden anyone. I know what it's like to want to do everything alone because you want to be better than your parents. Ooooh Dani, I remember feeling everything you were feeling in my heart.
Brooks - I REALLY HATE THAT I LIKE THE NICKNAME KITTEN NOW BECAUSE OF YOU. But, my heart goes out for you. From the minute you found out, you were patient and understanding to win Dani completely over. My favorite is when he realized "I was pushing and didnt realize that I have to take you into account" because he was so excited to have another child.
I personally wasn't hooked from the first page, I felt like I was coming into the middle of the series which I was. I think I should've started from the beginning to the end to get more of the relationships between the characters. I also think the transitions where slightly repetitive. We would go from Dani's point of view to Brooks and it would go slightly back into the previous chapter so I felt like I was going back to go forward each and every time.
Thank you thank you to Kelly and Torch Ink for the ARC! I look forward to more from Kelly!
This is the first book in this series that I've had the chance to read, and I am certainly inspired to play catch up with the earlier installments. My attention was grabbed right away by the title, and it is a good indicator of the baseball team shenanigans that are the background to the main plot. There is such a sense of found family throughout, with both the players, their friends, partners, and Dani's D&D group. That's all surrounding the central story of course. Dani is the social media director for the team; she had a few months' relationship with Brooks, head coach of the Roasters. Their chemistry is incredible, but they work together and Brooks has partial custody of his six year old daughter Carolina. Chemistry wins when they meet for a tryst on New Year's Eve and Dani ends up pregnant. Ms. Reynold's writing is wonderful, bringing the reader right into every scene, whether it's baseball social media content (which are hilarious!) or the interpersonal drama of waiting for Dani to tell Brooks she's pregnant and the upheaval that follows. This book is such a great mix of the everyday with the unexpected, and it all makes for a terrific read.
I was given an ARC of this novel and volunteered to write a review.
One secret hookup leads to something bigger. If you like a grumpy, foul mouthed, grumpy baseball coach and a spunky and sassy social medial manager, then this book is for you!
Daddy Coach, or Brooks, is used to keeping his personal life secret. He was his prime baseball life when his first little girl, Charlotte was born, and he missed a lot of the firsts. Dani didn’t have the best life growing up with her mother, but she has made the best of her life now. She has the best friends surrounding her and a job of a social media manager with the Roasters that she loves.
When one night of passion leads to two pink lines, Dani and Brooks are pushed together again. Brooks has been wanting to get back with Dani, but they work together so she never thought it was a good idea. But now, it’s kinda inevitable that they are going to be spending more time together.
The banter in this book, fantastic. And the spice, oh my! The mouth on Coach Daddy is steamy and will melt you. They have a connection that is just electric. The friend group, they are special and come together for the both of them. And Charlotte, I just love her. Her addiction to baking and her sour dough starter had me cracking up.
Kelly Reynolds is great at bringing a diverse group of people into her books, and Addicted to Glove is no exception to that. With the group of people that is in each book, you see familiar characters from past books and others that might be in future books. (One could really hope.) As Addicted to Glove is the fourth book in the Rose City Roasters series, but don’t worry. The past characters that do show up are just side characters, and you don’t need to know what happened in past books to enjoy this book.
Kelly takes time with her characters and shows them all respect. She also doesn’t do the unnecessary drama. So, for all of those people who do not like third-act breakups Addicted to Glove is perfect for you. There is no third-act breakup, and the adults in this story actually act like adults.
Of course, this wouldn’t be a Kelly Reynolds book without the spice. She brought the spice game to this book, and Addicted to Glove is getting four chili peppers. As a whole, I really enjoyed the story that Addicted to Glove told. I am giving this book three and a half stars.
Addicted to Glove is out now, and if you are a Kindle Unlimited member, this is included in your membership.
Thanks to the author for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.
3.75 stars rounded up. This series feels like a little bit of candy amongst the more complex books that I read, a welcomed difference in my palate. I always enjoy an installment of my favorite fictional baseball team. Somehow this is the second romcom I've read this year with a pregnancy trope even though it's not something I've sought out. This one had some things I really liked and some things I really didn't like.
Pros: found family, lgbtq+ representation Cons: ownership language, the author clearly never having a baby and relying on pregnancy stereotypes as a result
In looking at my reviews of the other books in this series, I notice I mentioned the ownership language in the first book and how I thought it was self referential and poking fun at the genre, but I didn't get that impression this time. Can't two people fall in love without constantly referring to each other as "mine"? It just gives me the ick.
Overall, this was a fun read. I am very much looking forward to the next installment because it includes an autistic character finding love.
This series makes me so happy! And this one hits so many things that I love - baseball romance, work place romance, single dad, surprise pregnancy, friends with benefits to lovers, found family, lots of queer characters, opposites attracts!!! It was good and sweet and sexy and low angst and easy to read in the best way!!! This was perfect and I already cannot wait for the next one!!! While I think this is my favorite!! the next one might become my new favorite!
Everything about Brooks and Dani’s story made my heart SO HAPPY! They were perfect honestly. I loved seeing them find a home in each other. I loved how easily Dani was able to fit into Brooks’s life with his daughter and his ex, and how they all became a family and such an important support system for Carolina! I really liked how Kelly wrote Dani struggling with her fears of becoming a mother, it was so honest and raw. And it never really went away, it just lessened with the help of Brooks and even her friends. I loved seeing them both fall sooooo hard for each other!!
I love this found family! I love anything Kelly writes really!! And I will forever read her books!!
Kelly. Reynolds. How on earth are we supposed to just go about our business now after you've given us Coach Daddy?!
Rose City Roasters head coach, Brooks Bailey-Ward is down bad for the team's social media manager, Dani Bernal. After a New Year's Eve hookup, Dani realizes she's pregnant. After looking out for herself her entire life, Dani is hesitant to rely on anyone. Especially Brooks. When Coach finds out he's about to be a dad again though, he's ready to claim them both.
The way Brooks looks after Dani and baby while giving her the space she needs is knee-melting. The competency kink is STRONG in this one! Pregnancy care packages, ghost tour first dates, cat cafe decompression afternoons, and all. Y'all...he helps her shave when she can't reach her legs!
Every single time I read a Kelly Reynolds book, I wish I lived in that world. The found family of the Roasters makes this one of my favorite sports romance series. I can't recommend it enough. If Bennett and Bella are next, I'm gonna lose my mind with excitement!
