When Ivy’s friends dare her to hold hands with a stranger on a crowded street, she never expects to see him again. Until that same stranger shows up in her favorite coffee shop back home.
Gray knows what it means to fall, and to be redeemed. Determined to honor God in every part of his life, especially love, he never planned on Ivy or the way her laughter and searching heart draw him closer than he ever intended.
On paper, they’re worlds apart in their faith journeys. And as their connection deepens, so does the temptation to cross lines they promised to protect. When hearts and convictions collide, can they dare to believe that some risks lead to forever?
Dare to Hold is a clean, slow-burn Christian romance filled with emotional tension, redemption, and swoon-worthy moments. Perfect for readers who believe in love that waits, protective heroes, and stories where romance points to Jesus.
Gray + Ivy - what a story! Just wow. I highlighted so many parts in this book. I felt like this book was exactly what a book should look like from a Christian Author. Especially whenever trying to portray a Christian dating, experiencing sexual temptations, and how to overcome. And all without being graphic 👏🏻 Well done, Amber! This is what I love to read as a Christian. Real life situations that you may experience and how to abstain. No, these MC’s did not have a perfect past but they were choosing to live pure moving forward.
The way these two meet is so adorable and I absolutely loved watching their story unfold. Gray is very intentional with his actions and it was amazing to read Ivy’s very own spiritual journey. It all felt so very real.
Also, this is Amber’s debut novel in clean romance after previously writing spice. I am blown away. God is all over this book and I know He is so pleased. Keep on shining for Jesus!
Quotes ✨
He leans closer, gaze unwavering. “I would rather wait a lifetime than take something from you that isn’t freely given. Because love—real love—never demands. It protects. It covers. It reflects Christ.” My heart stutters. “And Ivy…I want to love you like that.”
And in that moment, I know—I’d wait as long as it takes. I’d walk beside her at whatever pace she needs. Because the last thing I ever want to do is rush what God is gently unfolding in her heart.
⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 Gray Bennett & Ivy Taylor - Dual POV - Insta-attraction & insta love - Christian faith themes & testimonies - Worship leader MMC - Branding and graphic design FMC - FMC coming to know Jesus - Praying together - Found community at church
✨ a few of my favorite things: - The grace vs mercy analogy 😉 - the girl group & their friendship - The dares - Their flirting - Gray is patient and answers Ivy’s faith questions with grace - Praying together - The picture perfect HEA
⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 Book 1 in Dare to Love Series - This is a sweet romance (think hallmark), which is not focused only on falling in love. It would be a great book for someone wanting to see messy, imperfect walks with the Lord, as well as strong friendships.
A major part of this story is Ivy learning who Jesus Christ is and building a relationship with Him. Gray is there along the way to support and help guide her. Ivy’s journey in faith is awkward and shakey. But I think many could relate to the way she finds God.
Gray has a lot of learning and truly living to do. He already knows the truth of the Gospel and that Christ sent him free of his past. But Gray wrestles with truly living like it and trusting Christ covered that sin, making Gray new. Gray struggles heavily with control and trying to push faith on people. I struggled with his pushy-ness but it is a common experience as Christians often want their loved ones to believe in the true saving faith of Jesus.
Their relationship is insta love and insta attraction, which Gray jumps the gun a few times. I didn’t like how much Gray tried to rush Ivy onto his level in the relationship and in faith. I struggled a bit with the practices and actions of the church / its body, but that’s my personal convictions.
The book is heavy in inner monologue, personal reflections, and personal prayers as they wrestle with their struggles and doubts. They both have friends and mentors who help them along the way which makes a huge difference for the MCs.
This is a closed door Christian romance. There is kissing, no cursing, and MCs struggle with physical temptations. Author has a note at the beginning and content warnings. There are some detail inconsistencies.
**Thank you so much to Amber for letting me read this as a Beta and an ARC. I received a complimentary copy. No positive review was required. All thoughts are my own.**
Ps it was cool seeing my grace & mercy analogy in a book (pg 85) 💕
This story blew me away! 🥰🥹 I had been following the process of this story for a while now, and I am so grateful that I was given the opportunity to be apart of the ARC team for this book! A huge thank you to the author and BookFunnel! 🫶🏾
This story touched on so many faith elements. Community, grace, love, etc. This was the PERFECT representation of a Christian rom-com! I LOVED Gray and Ivy! They were two people who both had a past, and were trying to navigate a life with Christ! I loved all of the other characters in this story as well. From Ivy’s friends Olivia and Harper, to Gray’s worship crew…there was no one I did not like! There were SO many great quotes in this, too. I am just so in love with this story and everything about it! I cannot wait to read the other two books in this series! Trust and believe, I WILL BE TUNED IN! 🤭 This book releases on September 22, 2025 and I highly recommend reading it on release day! I’m sure you won’t regret it.
Goodness that was cute. I was either grinning or crying on just about every page. What a sweet and totally relatable story. Raw and real. More people need to be raw and real.
I truly loved reading a romcom that was written by and about people that love the Lord! What a blessing to be able to have faith woven into my enjoyment of a cute couple and my love of reading.
LOVED the cop example to explain mercy and grace… Mercy is not giving you the ticket you deserve and Grace is also giving you $100 or a lollipop.
Message translation joke was amazing.
So many good points along the way like she’s been keeping notes from sermons and rolodexing them. “Don’t let fear talk louder than grace.”
Extremely glad she stated we aren’t enough, because we aren’t! And that’s okay. As Amber stated in her book, that’s the whole point of the gospel!
So many wonderful points of personal encouragement a long the way. “It’s okay to take a step back so I can take a step forward.”
Tons of amazing marital and relational encouragement as well. “Pray for her faith more than you pray for your future together.” And him having admirable self control, those men exist ladies!!
I feel like the ending was rushed compared to the rest of the book. We had a sweet, slow meander with this adorable couple, and then skip so much so quickly. She covers a couple months in a couple sentences. I also wish Gray’s temper had been fleshed out a little more.
Gray talks about what a huge honor it is for Ivy to ask him to baptize her and about how it’s such an important decision and then we don’t get to experience it with them? Kind of a bummer.
Personal preference - minus points to Gray for a Hillsong song being in his top favorites, especially when he mentioned a SOLID song like Run to the Father earlier.
Personal theological note - God’s love is FAR from reckless (I’m looking at you Cory Asbury!)
Overall, super cute and can’t wait to read more! I predict the next book is about Micah and Harper ;) I made a note on literally page 12 predicting that! Haha
I had the pleasure of beta reading this beautiful book. Dare to Hold was my very first Christian romance, and it BLEW ME AWAY! I am so in love with this story and these characters, and I truly cannot wait to read it again when it comes out in September.
The faith elements were beautiful and so realistic, I felt like Amber was writing from my own walk with God. It made me cry, A TON, in the best way.
The romance was delicious, never cringey, never awkward. I truly enjoy my read from start to finish, and I need book two NOWWWWWWWWWW!
Dare to Hold was such an amazing read! And happy to be part of the ARC team.
The story of Gray really touched me—his personal struggles, even as a Christian, remind us that we don’t need to pretend to be “perfect Christians.” His journey felt so real and relatable. Ivy’s story was equally powerful; seeing her finally surrender to God, allowing Jesus to be first in her life as her Savior, was beautiful. The way she gave Him her doubts and received His love in return felt so personal and moving.
I also appreciated how the book portrayed the challenges we face in relationships—with others and with God. It was honest, heartfelt, and a reminder that faith doesn’t mean the absence of struggles, but learning to lean on Him through them.
What I loved most was how God’s presence was woven throughout the story. It showed the beauty of waiting on God’s timing, choosing Him first, and living with gratitude, faith, and blessing in everything.
This story feels like such a labor of love. I really enjoyed the sweetness of this story and felt like its faith themes were so intentional and well executed. Ivy and Gray, our MCs, both have pasts they aren’t proud of, but they both are seeking Jesus throughout the story. It was clear that neither of them were the perfect Christian, which I think is important to highlight for those who may struggle with feeling like “enough.” Their meet cute was fun and adorable, and I enjoyed every sweet and bittersweet moment in their story. I also loved the sisterhood bond Ivy had with her besties Harper and Olivia, and I’m looking forward to reading their stories.
4.5 to be honest except no half stars available here. What a refreshing Christian Fiction rom com! This deals with some sensitive topics relevant to the dating scene for Christians. Loved this book and can’t wait to read her next books!!
I've had Dare to Hold on my radar since I heard about its upcoming release and so excited I finally got a chance to sit down and read it.
I loved that this was more than just a love story but one in which they both grew not only together but with Christ.
I loved that it was a more InstaLove story but at the same time slow burn...don't ask me to explain that...I just loved that they had that instant connection and then were together pretty much the entire book.
I loved how Gray falls so fast and so hard and just serves and loves Ivy through everything.
I loved that it showed the temptation for more physical intimacy before marriage and yet how they were able to combat that and set boundaries.
I loved that Amber was able to show each character on their own journey with Christ and how it is so individual to every person.
I loved that it really focused on Grace and how important it is to lean on Christ and let Him not only guide our lives but save us when we alone can't save ourselves.
I also loved that it showed how much we are individually loved, known and cherished by Him.
Amber definitely nailed this Faith filled romance and I cannot wait to continue the series with characters we already know and love.
Physical Intimacy Level 3 (Detailed Making Out, moans, straddling, tasting, mouth parting etc) Zero Swearing Dual POV
Amber does give more breakdown on content at the beginning of the book.
Loved getting to read this book as an ARC reader! Gray and Ivy’s story is so inspiring for those of us looking for a faith based love. This book was a great example of how to put God first in relationships of all kinds and honor him through it. Overall it was a great read. My honest review is 4 stars simply based on the length. I think it could’ve been condensed just a bit but that is a personal preference! Can’t wait for book 2!
I did not expect this book to shout the name of Jesus but it did indeed! Wow. This story was dripping with Jesus. This story had me laughing, crying & swooning.
Ivy is bold in her pursuit of love - not just for Gray but for the One who loved her first. She doesn’t have it all together, but none of us do & He meets us where we are.
Gray is confident in his passion for Christ & for Ivy. I love how his story shows how we sometimes idolize the people we love over Jesus & we have to realign our faith. But let’s get some praise hands going for a man who is on fire for Jesus!
Amber, I am overwhelmed with gratitude to our Heavenly Father who redeemed your gift of writing. I am blessed to see that you laid the old stories at the foot of the cross & picked up new ones that would glorify Him. Your story is my favorite part of this story. I dare you to keep choosing Him - even when the old ways seem easier.
"It's okay to take a step back so I can take a step forward"
Ivy and her friends regularly dare each other to do things to get out of their comfort zone. But neither would have thought that God will use one to turn Ivy's world upside down. This story talks about God's grace and that we're not perfect, but God loves us and meet us where we are. Personally, it encouraged me to pray more, hand my worries/burdens over to Him and trust Him.
What I liked:
Ivy. Ivy's journey to faith is relatable. I think people often compare their faith journey with others, which could lead to pretend or wonder if there's something wrong. Ivy has doubts, fears, so many questions and feels not enough because of her past; however, she chooses to pursue answers, learn more and seek God's presence and love. One notable moment is she stops and decides to seek intentionally.
I loved all the faith elements with a special focus on prayer. It has lovely prayers, Bible verses, small messages while they're at church and deep conversation about God and faith.
Ivy and Gray's relationship development felt real, with strong communication, though their romance sometimes was all-consuming. I appreciated that the characters realized they needed to step back and put God first in their lives.
The community is really strong and central to the story. It wasn't only focus in the main characters, but also in the people around them and their own walk with the Lord.
What I wanted more of:
More about Gray's story. The book introduces some of his past wounds and present struggles, but doesn't go into detail about how he's dealing with them and healing.
Although, there were good intentions around the openness of this church for people to serve/volunteer (without too much bureaucracy or requirements that sometimes discourages people in reality), I believed it kind of miss the mark. I wish it had been noted that the church leaders were concerned about the characters' relationship with God.
This book briefly touches on Harper's and Olivia's journey, but this seems intentional as the next books may move around them. The next one is about Harper so I'm looking forward to learn more about her!
* This is a Christian fiction closed-door romance. * Thank you for this E-ARC opportunity. All the opinions expressed are purely my own.
This book touched my heart in the best way. It’s not just a Christian romance — it’s a story about faith, healing, and learning how to love God before you love anyone else. Ivy and Gray’s relationship is so beautifully written. They keep Jesus at the center, set healthy boundaries, and grow together spiritually and emotionally.
I loved how real Ivy’s journey felt — her line, “I need to find out who I am with God before I can figure out who I am with you,” really stuck with me. It reminded me that knowing your identity in Christ has to come first.
It’s a slow-burn, faith-filled, clean romance that points everything back to Jesus. The writing is heartfelt, the emotions are raw, and the message is powerful. It’s about grace, patience, and trusting God’s timing in both love and life. Highly recommend to anyone who loves stories that mix love, redemption, and spiritual growth. 💛
this was SO good!!! I really enjoyed this story & the realistic faith elements that brought this story together so naturally. My only critique is that there were at least 8 instances where the author said “something I’m not ready to name yet” or something along that line & it got excessive and repetitive and I just wanted them to name whatever the heck they were talking about so it pulled me from the story a bit. Otherwise I really loved this book! Would highly recommend!
I’m so excited for others to read this. Big thank you to the author for allowing me to Beta Read this incredible book. This is such a beautiful and refreshing Christian romance. It flows so well, and it is just a beautiful story! I highly recommend everyone read it when it comes out on September 22nd!
Ivy and Gray you’re amazing! Loved these characters and their story!
A dare in New Orleans changes everything. Gray & Ivy’s love story is anchored in grace, redemption, & second chances. From their first meet cute to their beautiful, beautiful ending. When I wasn’t swooning & kicking my feet, I was absolutely bawling. I feel like this story found me at the exact right timing in my life. It’s changed me in ways I cant even begin to delve into. It was powerfully written, and I am so grateful I got to be an ARC reader. I cannot wait for the next book in the series! If you’re looking for a cute, clean, christian romance then this is the one for you! It’s been an amazing read! 😭💜
I want to start by saying I received an ARC of this book and I beta read it. This is a Christian romance book and the first book in this new series. The main characters are Gray and Ivy. They meet in New Orleans on a dare then they think they will never see each other again. Needless to say God has other plans. I loved watching Gray and Ivy navigate their relationship together while also being faithful to God. Will they be able to stay faithful to God? Will they give into temptation? I loved watching Ivy come to God and grow in her Faith. This book goes to show you everyone struggles in life even when we have God in our life we are human and make mistakes. That our walk with God isn’t always easy. This book also goes to show that when one person is a Christian and the other one isn’t it’s harder to stay faithful in your walk with God. The redemption in this book was awesome. The third act breakup was a little long for me but God has a timing and a plan for everything. We can’t rush God. The side characters were amazing. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series. Overall, the book was great.
This book was absolutely beautiful! I absolutely love how the author showed the trials that Christians go through but also how we have the reassurance that the Lord will see us through it all. The love story between Gray and Ivy is one to treasure. It goes to show that good things come to those who wait on the Lord. I cannot say enough good things about this books! Thank you for giving me the chance to read the arc of this book.
Amber Nicole’s Dare To Hold blends sweet, closed-door romance with Biblical truths, all the while navigating real issues and struggles Christians commonly deal with. I was impressed by the amount of faith content in this book - Dare To Hold PREACHED but never felt preachy!
I think every reader can find something relatable in this story, regardless of where they are on their faith journey. I know I related to the struggles of both main characters, and was absolutely invested in not only the love story happening between Gray and Ivy, but the Love Story between Ivy and her Savior. The gospel is presented naturally but clearly, and I loved the focus on and explanation of grace.
Watching Ivy discover Jesus was encouraging and hopeful. In addition, the way Gray pursued Ivy, with patience and care for her not just as the woman he loves but as a daughter of Christ, was beautiful to read.
I definitely recommend Dare To Hold and can’t wait to read Harper’s story next!
Intimacy: Kisses only Language: None Content Considerations: Alcohol use (past), sexual temptation (mild), drug use (past), sexual innuendo (mild)
I really loved this book and how Amber introduced true struggles that believers face everyday. I enjoyed how the theme of community, grace, and love. I’m so excited to read more of her books to come! Thank you Amber for giving us a faith-filled romance to hope and pray for.
Wow, this book was emotional and yet filled with so much faith content. If I’m being honest, my rating is 3.5 but I bumped it to 4 on Goodreads since they don’t do half stars
When I saw how fast Gray and Ivy fell for each other early on in the story I was genuinely afraid of the heartbreak coming later. After all I wasn’t 20% in yet and they were already so in love! I loved their banter and enjoyed their chemistry
With that said, what I didn’t enjoy was the third act “break”. Which is why I will be tagging my review as spoilers. As someone who dislikes that trope I feel obligated to let other readers know that part does happen in this book. Honestly I didn’t understand it, it felt like you gave me a lollipop but before I could take the first bite you yanked it away
If the story would’ve started backwards I think it could be higher rating. Have Gray invite Ivy to church, she starts her faith journey and they’re friends first before they pursue their relationship.
I will say the faith element is top tier, I genuinely enjoyed the Bible verses and sermons weaved into the story. The ending had me smiling because I like Gray and Ivy together! Overall if the third act breakup doesn’t bother you then I highly recommend this book. It’s not just about romance but faith and friendship ❤️
I received this story as an ARC reader, and all opinions are my own. Thank you for blessing me with the opportunity!

Dare To Hold is such a beautiful story of love, grace, and redemption. This isn’t your typical Christian romance. Gray and Ivy’s story has the gospel weaved throughout every page. Amber includes so much wisdom and spiritual truth. The prayers were honest, raw and real. I love Ivy and Gray from the moment she grabs his hand. Their story has so much depth and tenderness. It was emotional, uplifting, and authentic.
Gray is sweet, romantic and oh so swoony. I love the way Amber describes him - “the kind of man who prays before he kisses you, remembers your coffee order, and makes you feel safe in every way that matters.” Gray is already a Christian when he meets Ivy. He isn’t perfect. We see him wrestle with temptation, his past, his desire to control and trusting God with Ivy. Even though he doesn’t wrestle with his faith the same way Ivy does, he still has struggles. Gray is passionate and has seen the difference Jesus can make. He has been at the lowest of lows and Jesus met him there. He loves Ivy and wants that for her so badly but he knows he can’t push her into a relationship with Jesus. Gray has to learn to give control to the Lord and trust that the God that saved him and drew him in can do the same for Ivy.
Ivy is kind, brave and genuine. She has never been to church but she’s intrigued from her first visit. She encourages Gray, embraces the church community, and quietly leads her friends. Ivy struggles with insecurity and feeling like she’s enough. She has a history of trying to fit in but she knows that her relationship with God can’t be like that. I love Ivy’s wisdom and earnestness in seeking the Lord. She demonstrates so much maturity for someone new to faith.
Dare To Hold touched me in ways I wasn’t expecting. I don’t have the words to adequately describe how much I loved this book. If you are looking for a Christian romance that will challenge you, inspire you, and encourage your own walk with the Lord, you need to pick up Dare To Hold. You won’t be disappointed. Amber, I truly believe God is going to use this story to draw people to Him.

Double posting about this book today because it’s just that good. 💜
Amber knocked this one out of the park! Her debut Christian romance introduces us to a group of girlfriends who dare each other to step outside their comfort zones and experience things they wouldn’t expect. A dare to hold a stranger’s hand leads Ivy Taylor on a path of discovering the God of the Universe & falling in love with a Godly man. Like most faith journeys, there’s plenty of struggling, doubts and wrestling with Truth, but the characters ultimately find a love rooted in Christ and His love. 😭
Y’all, this story was so timely to read. My heart has been so heavy with the brokenness of our world, and seeing God’s word woven into a love story where He’s honored and glorified got me good. I identified so much with Gray’s struggle with control and I related to Ivy’s want to make her faith her own. It was so powerful to see her step back to own her faith & recognize that, ultimately, she must prioritize Jesus and not earthly love. That’s a word right there, Amber!
The cherry on top of the sweetness that was the book - I LOVE the Hollyn song “To the Moon” & I‘ve been waiting for a book to make me feel like that song does. I was so happy when this book hit that mark, and it’s so satisfying! Go listen to that song and then read this book, because it’s just the best.
I loved this book & you should read it and love it too! That is all. 😆
This is a clean, closed-door Christian romance with prior substance abuse and parental neglect mentioned.
Thanks for the ARC, Amber! All opinions are my own. :)

Honestly, I am not sure that I have ever fallen in love with a story quite so quickly as I did this one... especially one from a new to me author! From that unforgettable meet cute? I was absolutely hooked. Seriously, it was one of my favorite meet cutes ever. And by the end of the first chapter? I could already tell it was going to be a favorite... and it truly only got better from there! Gray and Ivy had such a tender and emotional romance- filled equally with both moments that made me smile and swoon and those that had me reaching for the tissues. I loved these two together so much and didn't want their story to end. But as beautiful as that romance was, the way that their story points to Jesus always? Seeing Ivy's faith journey throughout? Oh my goodness, that truly was where the real beauty was. This story didn't shy away from Chistian themes, but I loved that it did so through the lives of these imperfect characters- one who was strong in his faith but still didn't always get it right and one who had a lot of questions and was still trying to figure it all out. I personally found that there was a little something in each of these characters that I could relate to, and it only made me love their story all that much more. This was truly such a beautiful romance, and I absolutely loved it. If you love Christian romance, Amber Nicole is certainly one to watch... I can't wait to see what she's going to do next in this series and beyond!
Dare to Hold is a Christian romance with kisses only and no language. There are some mentions of sex and temptation, but all through a Biblical perspective.
**ARC received for consideration. All opinions are my own.
First of all, I read this book as a ARC reader. I was not at all expecting this book to make me feel so many things. I don't know if I have ever read a Christian fiction that quite changed me like this one did. When I came across this author and say she was writing Christian fiction from what she used to write I was a little intrigued. When I say every book had me captivated in the story. There were funny, laugh out loud moments and there were alot of pretty serious and emotional moments that made me love the book even more. This author did not shy away from the deep and hard soul searching stuff. I felt like I was right beside Ivy as she was questioning and diving into her relationship with the Lord. All the ways she in the past had felt like she didn't belong or was not feeling enough. Gray, let me just say, Can we all have a Gray in our lives to love us and help us grow in our relationship with Jesus.
My favorite quote from the book: "No-one is good enough, Ivy." I say without hesitation, reaching for her hand and slowly brushing my thumb along her knuckles. "Because God's grace doesn't wait for us to get it right. It just shows up." This was so profound and so true. God is waiting for us, He doesn't expect to get right all the time or even wait to come to Him when we are clean. No, He wants us now as we are. Loved and Cherished.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.
Wow. This story captures real-life struggles so beautifully. It’s a powerful reminder of God’s providence—how He weaves every circumstance together for a reason.
Ivy and her girlfriends are on a trip to New Orleans, where they keep things fun with a running dare game to push each other out of their comfort zones. Cue the swooniest meet-cute. Enter Gray: steady, confident, yet still wrestling with past wounds and present battles that bring him to his knees.
This book paints such a moving picture of unbelief, self-doubt, the need to feel “enough,” and the struggle with control. Y’all, I can’t. Every believer will see themselves somewhere in these pages—whether in the wrestling or in the peace that comes when we finally let God in. It’s a reminder that we each have our own walk with the Lord, and He meets us right where we are—mess and all—redeeming us through Christ.
Oh. My. Goodness. First of all just one chapter in I knew I was gonna like this one. The banter of that smooth swoony awkward-meet-cute had me immediately sold 🤭. But the best thing about this book is that it was so much deeper and richer than just the fun. Yes I giggled at the characters in the beginning and throughout the story but it was also a hard fought kind of love story. A love story that was as much (if not more) about the protagonists’ relationship with God as it was about their romantic relationship with each other. Ivy and Grey both came from different paths. They were both at different points in their walk with God but I really liked how this story showed them both growing, demonstrating that no matter how long you have been a Christian that does not mean you suddenly have it all together. From beginning to end Ivy and Grey are dared to have faith, to hope, and to love. In the fun times, and in the hard times. I thought Ivy and Grey’s chemistry was great. I really loved the friendships both of them had and how those friends both encouraged and challenged them. Dare to Hold is altogether a beautiful story of love, grace, and redemption. To me this is peak Christian Contemporary Romance.
This book is the sweetest swooniest book filled with light and I loved every second!! 🥹 I think I was going between kicking my feet and fighting butterflies the entire book.
I really enjoyed this love story between a church worship leader and a marketing freelancer he meets by chance. The dynamic of a budding and blooming romance combined with discovering faith and salvation was a really special type of love story. It’s not easy, and the challenges of putting faith first.
I also love that this book spans across almost a year, giving time for each stage of the relationship to feel genuine.

“Not earned. Not deserved. Just given. It’s a concept I’m not used to. I’ve spent my whole life earning—approval, love, validation. But this? This just…exists. Freely. By the time I’m finished, there’s a softness in my chest. A crack in the armor I’ve been holding up. Maybe it’s small, but it’s there.”
“She glances back at me, smile tugging at the corners of her mouth, and I wonder how I’m supposed to let her drive away after this.”
Gray is a musician that has survived a tough life of substance abuse that has found redemption and became a worship leader at his church. While absorbing the music on the street in New Orleans, an answered prayer may have shown up. Ivy and her 2 friends are on vacation in New Orleans, where their dare challenge forces her to get friendly with a tattooed stranger. After an impromptu date, they both head home never to cross paths again. Until they do. The reconnection and attraction is sweet but intense. The determination to remain true to his path with God is at odds with Ivy's uncertainty of her faith and insecurity of worthiness in Gray's world. Both of their lives and inner circles are feeling the effects of the struggle while they decide if their relationship can survive the testing of faith and strength to have a God honoring relationship. This was such a great story that had me hooked the entire time! Great Christian content that was really gripping with zero cheese!
