In the Iris of the Life Interpretations through PhotographsOne look at the News Feeds on Facebook and there’s no doubt that images grab our attention. Unlike a book with words to work through before a picture or story is developed, an image resonates emotion and connection, or lack thereof, in milliseconds. People respond differently to all types of from portraits to landscapes to journalistic to pets and nature. My goal as a photographer is to surface and expound on the energy of my subject, be it a portrait or landscape, as an expression open to interpretation by viewers. In other words, I aim to bring life to my images so that others can take that energy and make of it what they wish. We all have past schemas that we bring to the viewing of an image; it’s not the job of the photographer to do the interpretation, only to capture the image in a manner that allows for the viewer to determine their own. As a believer in manifesting what we put our emotions and passion into, I am conscious of what I photograph. Journal writing is documenting the path of your future with words; capturing images is documenting the path of your future through photography. Throughout this book are images of nature and landscapes that will hopefully engage you.
