The clock is counting down... And when it hits zero, the world will never be the same again.Fifteen years ago, the remote Russian city of Nobilsk goes dark. Three hundred kilometres north of the Arctic Circle, this closed city is shrouded in secrecy and home to a level-four security bio-research facility. When a Russian virologist sends a desperate message to the British Consulate, claiming that the worst has happened, it's all hands on deck.
SAS trooper Solomon Church, alongside a small team, are dropped into the Siberian tundra with a vital extract the virologist, secure his research, and destroy everything else. But when they arrive, what they expect, and what they discover are two very different things. And what begins as a rescue mission, quickly becomes something much, much deadlier...
In the present, a retired Solomon Church receives the kind of phone call he dreads. Interpol head, and friend, Julia Hallberg tells him she needs his help. They've been tracking the movements of a terrorist cell in the UK who are trying to buy a pathogen from a private Chinese biotech company. But something went wrong. By the time Interpol and armed response arrive, the buyers and sellers are dead, the scene a bloody mess. And among the carnage, a broken phial, its contents unknown, and evidence that at least one person got away.
Advised by their experts that the risk is minimal, the government try to bury the case. But Hallberg doesn't believe it, and if she's right, it could mean fallout of the highest order. No one will help her. So she calls the only man that can. It's a race against time to find the missing carrier, and stop the spread of an unknown pathogen into the greater population. But as the clock counts down and more information begins to surface about what they're chasing, the truth becomes apparent. It's not a few lives at stake... But maybe the fate of the whole world.

The Carrier is a rip-roaring, edge-of-your-seat thriller and a pulse-pounding race against time. From the eerie corridors of a Siberian virology lab to the winding, dangerous streets of London's seething underbelly, this is Solomon Church's toughest challenge yet.
Perfect for fans of Lee Child, Jack Slater, James Swallow, and Vince Flynn, The Carrier is your next action adventure read!
Morgan Greene grew up in Wales, and works a copywriter, editor, and author. Morgan studied Creative Writing and English Literature at Swansea University with a focus on narrative structure and theory, and published the first crime novel in the Jamie Johansson series in 2020. Since its release, the series has gone on to reach bestseller status, with Detective Jamie Johansson quickly becoming a reader favourite.
The series blends classic Scandi-noir elements with modern and cinematic thriller writing to create a unique style that adds to the emerging Brit-noir genre. Jamie has many novels ahead of her, but Morgan is also working on a variety of other projects across crime, thriller, and mystery and plans to publish plenty more in 2022 and beyond.
A long-time fan of Morgan Greene, I thought I ought to expand my horizons with this newer series. Solomon Church is nothing like Greene's Jamie Johansson, which permits me to see some of the other perspectives the author has to offer. I thoroughly enjoyed the first three novels, which ushered things to this point, where Solomon Church makes yet another impact.
In 2010, Church was dispatched with his team to a Russian city close to the Arctic Circle, where a virologist offers a desperate plea for help. Something horrible has taken place and must be stopped. Church and his team seek to find the scientist, extricate him, and destroy everything else, no questions asked, which is easier said than done. The mission soon turns deadly and Church has no idea what's going on.
In the present, Church is called upon by an old friend at INTERPOL to assist when a terrorist cell gets hold of a pathogen a Chinese biotech company. A shootout has left all but one person dead and on the run. At the scene, a single vial of unknown origins hints that there could be something catastrophic on the loose. While government officials want it buried, Church feels there is a coverup in the making and helps to track down the lone survivor, only to learn that this is just the start to much danger. A gripping novel that keeps series fans eager to discover what Solomon Church has up his sleeve once more. Greene dazzles and keeps things intense until the final page.
Morgan Greene effectively creates a bond with the reader, no matter the subject matter. This collection differs greatly from his other work and I was left to mentally change gears. Told in chapters that alternate between past and present, the reader learns much from both timelines as the narrative comes together. The intensity of both storylines enhances the other and provides a wonderful dual pathway towards a single goal. There is much to discover and no time to waste as Greene forges onwards at a break-neck pace.
Solomon Church differs tremendously from Greene's other popular protagonists, Jamie Johansson, as the reader will discover. Church shows a penchant to develop in the series and provides a decent backstory to entertain and flavour the story well. He is rough, but compassionate, as series fans will have come to learn. There are those who appear throughout the series, as well as one-off characters, all adding their own spin to things and keeping the stories edgy. The Solomon Church-Julia Hallberg connection expands and sends reader towards a somewhat unexpected crossroads.
Plot points permit a glimpse of Church’s multifaceted nature and the vast array of adventures that he has undertaken during his time with the British SAS. He surprises the reader and Greene shapes him to provide tense moments, while tossing in the odd twist to keep things exciting. I learn so much when I read these novels and Morgan Greene never appears to hold back, though he leaves teasers and dangling threads, which provide a little suspense until I can acquire the next book. I am eager to see where Greene takes things with this series, as he has done so well with all his publications to date.
Book 4 in the series definetly didn't disappoint and if I could have read this in one sitting I definetly would have! Out of the four books so far in this series this one was my favourite.
From start to finish this book had action, drama and twists that kept me on the edge of my seat. With each of the previous four books, I could visualise watching the scenes being played out in a movie or in a TV series. I loved how in the present, Hallberg and Church were able to combine to work on a case that had links to a mission from his past. The whole setting and action added different dynamics to their relationship and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Their chemistry is clearly evident and beautifully woven through Church's story.
Morgane Greene is one of my favourite authors and I just love the way that each book in this series has had a different dynamic and setting. From the DRC, to Kosovo, Iraq and now the Russian city of Nobilsk, every story has been a rollercoaster of action. I could vividly picture the cold, remote setting of Noblisk and this is testament to the fantastic writing ability of the author.
The last few pages of this book were incredible and just as Solomon Church finally experiences a sentiment of happiness, two faces from the past rear their ugly heads. I cannot wait to dive back into the adventures of Church as his story continues to unfold. He is a character who you can't help admiring and rooting for and the next story will surely be another fantastic read!
I love how at the end of each book Morgan Greene writes such a genuine, heartfelt author's note. I really enjoy reading these and on behalf of myself and other readers, we do appreciate these insights and life updates.
This was so good. Church and Hallberg find themselves on their own in their quest to track down the carrier of a deadly pathogen and what a rip-roaring thriller this turned out to be.
The pace is quite frenetic and I loved how the usual format of switching to events in Solomon's past seemed to really enhance how things are for him in the present day. I think this is my favourite of the series so far. The two characters make a great team and I enjoyed how they worked together throughout and I loved the ending. Very intriguing indeed and things are now nicely set up for the next in the series.
Following a shoot out at a bio weapon sale it seems that the bio weapon container was damaged and potentially released risking a massive outbreak. When it becomes clear that only one person left that meeting alive, they have to find him fast to see if he's infected and limit the risk to the general public. The closer they get, the more they realise that they aren't the only ones looking for him and embark on a massive manhunt all across London resulting in chaos and carnage. With agents from several countries all desperate to take the guy into custody, no matter the cost, who will be the victor and how many people will be infected before he can be stopped.
In this book Solomon Church fights probably his most frightening enemy. As with the previous books it intertwines a story in the current timeline with a mission from Church’s past. This time the enemies are not just armed enemies but also airborne deadly viruses as in both timelines he battles to keep the virus spreading to the general populous.
The book shows the event the incident with virus has left its scares both physical and mental on Church and shows how he has to deal with them again. Another fast paced two storyline thriller which I would recommend
Many thanks as ever to Morgan Greene for the advanced copy of this book.
This is the fourth book in the Solomon Church series and I think personally it's my favourite so far. It's gritty and fast paced as Church and Hallberg try desperately to track down the carrier and stop him from infecting the world with a deadly pathogen.
I quickly found myself engrossed in this book and found it hard to put this one down and am very much looking forward to seeing what is next for church.
I have loved all the Solomon Church books and this is no different. I highly recommend this book for its gripping and gritty storyline. Be warned though it will rob you of sleep!! As it is so hard to put down.
As always, Morgan Greene does not disappoint. I love the action and the intrigue. I love the past that always seems to come back to haunt this character who has survived so much.
Even though this was virus related I did not associate it with Covid etc as it seems such a long time ago. I am enjoying these even though they are not my usual read. I like how the character is developing. I am almost preferring him to Jamie!!
There is never a dull moment in this book! The storyline goes back and forth between two different periods but it's a smooth transition. Can't wait for the next installment!
I've only recently discovered this author but I love his books already. The carrier was gripping, I love that we get the past as well as the present, can't wait to read the next in the series
