A woman stolen under moonlight… I wanted to drown my sorrows in white sand and dancing. One drink turned into two, then I’m dragged deep into the jungle. This isn’t the Bahamas. It’s a realm of ruts, heats, and milking, and I’ve been gifted to the Taur.
A monster bound by the need to procreate... One of many stands among the offerings. Soft skin. Fire in her eyes. Human. She fights and refuses to stand down, but she’s mine—to mark, breed, and own.
Breeding Season is a Dark Monster Romance for readers who crave the dark and depraved. Please read the content warning carefully before diving in.
Favourite quote: “If you so much as touch another male, bull or human, I’ll eat the flesh off their bones and offer you their beating heart.”
This novella was simply not good. It was nothing but spice, and even then the spice was not well written or enjoyable. The “milking” angle was awkward and felt like it existed just to tick a dark monster romance box rather than add anything interesting. The crossover element did nothing to improve it, and honestly I was bored the entire time despite this supposedly being the kind of content that should be exciting.
Pele started off with a bit of personality, but it evaporated the second the “bond” came into play. One moment she is spirited and alive and the next she is flattened into a docile caricature with no agency. Taur was marginally better as a character but even he existed solely to be the head bull in charge (or HBIC) with nothing else going on. The taboo elements were not the problem at all. They were just executed in the most bland and predictable way possible.
I DNFed the last book in this world and I should have trusted my instincts, because this was even worse. Bland. Cliche. Boring. That is the entire experience. Absolutely would not recommend.
Primal monster romance. This book was hot, spicy, and definitely worth reading. The King minotaur was kinder than a lot of the others and seemed to care for his Mar. The fated mates element always makes me happy.
2.5 I have a ton of thoughts on this book. I’m unsure how to rate this. It felt like it shifted from hate to love very quickly. The milk stuff did make me uncomfortable. The MMC is definitely not aligned with my morals. The last 30% felt super quick and rushed
you know what? it is what it is. lol im blushing. check your triggers - but other than that? dive in. I didnt think it was that dark, but others might.
If you’re looking for gentle romance, this isn’t for you. The connection between the characters is filled with dominance, biological need, and the constant push and pull between resistance and surrender. For us fans of monster romance and breeding tropes you will find exactly what they are looking for. Breeding Season is a dark paranormal romance, perfect for anyone who enjoy intense power dynamics, creature focused fantasy. JP Sina did it again. The spice was good and matched the story. I can’t wait for more.
I was in the mood for something short, dark and spicy and this hit the mark. Kidnapped and claimed by a Minotaur King against your will, I mean sure why not. I'm definitely in my monster smut era 😂
Alright, monster lovers! Brace yourselves because this one was an incredibly wild, feral, and brutal experience.
In general I really did enjoyed the novella. As someone who is new and actively searching for dark romance, this is what I want to read to question my morals. This one had me clutching my pearls. That is what I look for in dark romance. I notice JP is great a pushing your limits/boundaries so keep that in mind and check your triggers and content warnings. I felt like mine was pushed and I’m still a concern citizen.💀 For the seasoned Dark Romance baddies, this may feel like a cake walk. But, if there are any baby Dark Romance readers like myself, don’t expect anything remotely cozy. Taur is not that and will never be.
Taur is not your morally grey MMC . This creature is morally black , so much so that I was contemplating whether I genuinely like him.🤣 I have mixed feelings about him!😭 Does he deserve Pele’s submission? Absolutely not! Does he earn it? I’m mentally side-eyeing him, okay? I would still say no! But, he’s not the worst, right? I mean, he is, but he’s also kind of not? I don’t know, I’m a little emotionally wrecked for someone who doesn’t read DR often.
Pele, though? Yeah, I feel for her. It’s hard to believe what she been through, and my heart aches for her. My mind is still reeling, and honestly, if I need a little therapy now, she definitely needs a lot. I loved that she was defiant. In her own way, she fought her captivity with defiance. Nowwwwww did she succeed? Debatable. I guess she succeeded in something.💀 But forced submission is power, and that’s the real goal, right?
I must admit, some parts left me a bit puzzled, but not enough to hinder my ability to read or deter enjoyment from the book.
I received this book as an ARC, and all my thoughts are my own.
Okay, so let me start by saying I came here for the triggers. I knew this was monster non-con going into it and left my moral high ground at the door before I started.
Let’s start with the things I enjoyed: ✅ Plus-size FMC representation (I especially love that it’s brought up but not dwelled on) ✅ Unique 🍆 on the MMC (although I didn’t fully understand the cock splitting and the knotting lasted hours one time, but only minutes the next?) ✅ Use of a ‘breeding bench’ to restrain the FMC (don’t judge 👀) ✅ Public claiming (and resulting group orgy)
But there were also a bunch of things I struggled with: ☑️ Many plot holes (for example: a brief mention that her father was from the area, but does that mean she knows about the monsters? Or after she was kidnapped, she mentally appears to know the titles of the monsters, correctly identifying “Herders”, “Heifers”, etc. How would she know any of that? Plus a few more) ☑️ Unresolved questions (like, what happened to Ashley?) ☑️ Grammar/spelling errors (I highlighted 20+) ☑️ Pele (the FMC) capitulated a little too quickly, bond or not, especially considering she literally watched people being eaten alive by these people ☑️ Despite this literally being titled “breeding season,” there was not a lot of the “breeding” trope present. If you’re here specifically for that, you might be disappointed ☑️ Lastly: it’s a short novella, so while it’s logical that things have to move quickly, there were still many things that felt too rushed and could have been fleshed out a little better
That said…I am intrigued enough about the author’s “Knot Enough” book that I’m going to read that next. UPDATE: I read “Knot Enough” and if I thought the spelling/grammar issues were bad with “Breeding Season”, it is NOTHING compared to the train wreck that is “Knot Enough”. I am definitely done with this author.
OOOOOH such a quick but dark little read!! Seriously friends, read the trigger warnings before diving into this one!
I thought the world created was incredibly intriguing, kinda like Planet of the Apes but with Minotaurs instead, my personal favorite monster 😉 I loved how this took place still in our current world, but if you didn’t go home by nightfall there was this monster coming to get you and take you to their part of the world.
I loved that our FMC was a plus-sized woman who definitely wanted to fight but also knew she had to play it smart to stick with the monster she knew instead of the monsters she didn’t. Ultimately this worked in her favor by getting mated to the monster she knew, but I thought this was a smart take in a corner of the world she knew nothing of.
I loved that as brutal as Taur was, he definitely tried to make love to her the best he could when she asked, and he would definitely do anything to keep her safe from others. Do not get me wrong, him and the entire herd are morally black, but these bits of light shining through made him redeemable in some ways. I also loved how he saved her friend(s) and put them in his concubine (basically meaning no one else could touch them, but we also didn’t see him stray from our FMC).
I loved their mating bond, including the milk production that occurred during the act and the k!nk that can be associated with that. Yeah, good times 😉
Lastly, this cover is amazing!! It's giving vintage King Kong vibes and I'M HERE FOR IT!!
Thank you to J.P. Sina for the opportunity to read this book. The thoughts and opinions expressed above are honest and my own.
This novella gave me a lot more than I was expecting. It had the amount of monster smut I wanted but also a surprising amount of plot and world building with lore and character development. Nothing major! But still, more than just mindless monsters and heat.
Taur was everything I was expecting and I am happy. He gave me possessive, obsessive and rude and developed into less rude and more caring but still aggressive and rough…but with love you know…
And Pele was an interesting character herself. Didn’t cower at the circumstances, stood her ground and adapted to the situation. Her accepting the bond was just at the perfect moment and it fit perfectly in the pacing of the story.
I do have to admit it may have gone a little too far in terms of different elements. It had multiple storylines that popped up once and then when the reader had already forgotten about it they became focal points to the plot or random unnecessary moments of violence that did nothing for the story.
Overall it was a fun smutty time and I’m just as in love with the cover as with the story inside it!
Thank you JP for this earc!
Quotes:
All I've wanted and never thought I'd have sat on my shoulder. I was lost the moment her raw, female scent hit my lungs. The unspoken truth repeated: I would have killed every bull in my herd for her.
I knew that mere possession would never be enough. Her complete devotion was already a desperate craving.
This was a really interesting dark monster romance.
Pele is traveling to her father's homeland and trying to connect with her roots. Unfortunately, her journey of self-discovery is cut short when she and several others are abducted by enormous beasts. They will each be brought before Taur, the minotaur leader, and be given a categorization to determine their fate as food, concubines, or breeders. When Pele is brought before him, Taur claims her as his mate and must immediately defend his claim. As others try to defy him, Taur must contend with how to move forward and defend both his position and his mate.
These characters felt a little bit one dimensional to me. Pele tried to resist Taur's claim, but also knew how to play along in order to survive. Taur wanted to cement his claim over Pele, but also did not want her to weaken his rule. At times it seemed like those goals were contradictory in his mind. I did enjoy the world building and I will likely read the other stories in this world, but I do wish that the characters had a bit more depth to them. This is a quick easy read with lots of spice including some public displays, humiliation, r@pe, etc. If you are interested in picking this one up, definitely check the trigger warnings first.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I couldn’t even enjoy this for what it was thanks to the inconsistencies in scenes and details, awful grammar, and weak plot. With this being the third book in the series, I expected the author to have more skill with writing. The flow was stilted and awkward as well.
For example: “I grabbed her calves and folded her so her legs were flat against my chest, her feet just below my shoulders. Our focus on where I slammed into her p*ssy. There was nothing gentle about the way I slammed into her p*ssy. I pulled out of her and her white juices coated my c*ck that sent my arousal levels through the roof. My thighs clenched and I f*cked her p*ssy hard and fast. My gaze darted to her face as she watched where her p*ssy took every f*cking inch of my c*ck. Her p*ssy started to tighten and squeeze as I sped up.”
Two sentences in a row repeat the phrase “…I slammed into her p*ssy.” 5 of the last 6 sentences needlessly and repetitively use the word p*ssy as if we all don’t know the context of where he is already. Are you kidding me? Was this written at 2:39 AM on 6 Red Bulls, mere hours before the deadline? Was this written by a man?
The world building had so much potential. Although I really wanted to get into it, this individual story has more plot holes than holes getting filled, so I will decline to read the rest of JP Sina’s works.
JP Sina is most definitely on my list of authors i'll always read. She never disappoints—my favourite monster romance author and a freaking Knotting Queen! Always a garentee to be quick, yet dark and smutty in the all the best ways!
𝘉𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘚𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘰𝘯 is a dark minotaur romance (my first one!), and boy did it blow me away. with a unique knot and a major size difference, this spicy story had me in a chokehold from start to finish 😏 The curvy FMC is brave and tough as hell to have handled being taken captive by a herd of minotaur, then claimed by its king .. and she was all those things, while still managing to soften the Taur in her presence.
I screeeeched at the crossover appearances of the MCs from 𝘊𝘳𝘶𝘦𝘭 𝘋𝘦𝘷𝘰𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯; the shared world of the @monstersofdarknessseries is such a treat!
an endless thank you for the opportunity to recieve yet another phenomenal ARC. It’s always such a pleasure! ♡
what to expect ❤️ monster romance ⛓️ knotting ❤️ size difference ⛓️ she bites first ❤️ fated mates ⛓️ minotaur x human ❤️ voyeurism ⛓️ special 🍆 ❤️ "until im satisied" ⛓️ milking ❤️ nøndüb
Dark. Monster. Smut Heavy on the dark. Lol these minotaurs have zero morals and I’m pretty sure the FMC had Stockholm syndrome This is a novella so ofc it took maybe 2 hrs or less to finish
I'm not gonna lie, by the end I forgot how we got there because I was having such a good time 🤣 Our FMC Pele, travelled to an island in the Bahamas to discover her roots. She was warned by the taxi driver to stay inside at night - Did she listen? Obviously not. She gets drunk, DRUGGED and ends up being kidnapped to be a part of the market block for the minotaurs' breeding season
And because our girl Pele is so lucky, she’s chosen by their king to be his mate
And to make it all worse, someone stages a coup against the king. Like actual war. 🤣 This has to be the most insane 24 hours of anyone’s fictional life I've ever experienced
Oh, and he has a 🐓 with a knot that splits into 2 🐓🐓 And she produces breast milk if he fills her enough - and he drinks it
I had a good ole time 🤣 Please check your triggers. This is not your beginner dark romance
That trope list alone was a magnet that ripped my attention away in an instant, and having read stories in this series and by this author before, I knew it was going to be a fast and fun ride. Pele goes to her father's homeland island to find out more about herself when she gets adultnapped and becomes part of a flesh delivery to a minotaur herd. When she faces Taur, the king, he realizes she's his mate, which saves her from becoming food or a plaything for his people. However, Taur is all beast, and employs some *restrictive* methods of making Pele his. Despite her initial refusal, Pele begins to realize having Taur in her corner is better than facing her chances alone. When she becomes a target for their enemies, Taur realizes he's fallen for his fiery human and is a race to save his queen and soul bonded mate.
That and about a dozen scenes featuring a woman whose hip flexors must be screaming and a king who has obviously never played Tetris. Also, this novella is dark for a reason, so mind the triggers. However, it does make a nice stepping stone into more of the MoD world (and also features a surprise cameo from some familiar faces). Regardless of the short length of the story, it does not lessen the amount of spicy content. This author is the queen of making irredeemable monsters have a very small silver lining, but only for their women. I'm looking forward to more from this world!
The story is rushed, and not sure why. It is part of a series that averages around 140 pages, while this one is under 100… so there was enough room to expand on the story so it isn’t so rushed. Then there’s inconsistencies like hands tied behind their back but suddenly they’re in the front? Room was full of women but suddenly there’s men? But then they’re suddenly gone? She didn’t see who captured her but suddenly she saw them? “Days” passed when it was only one night… inconsistencies are annoying, especially when it feels like everything was rushed to meet some deadline…
Spoilers… maybe? Characters and plot are rushed. Why is her first thought, when waking up captured, is that she might never eat again? Why was the guy who pushed past her singled out for the block, out of everyone else? No clue why we had the meeting to tie in the other characters who barely even talked. The whole stalker bit makes zero sense… I really wish there had been more effort put into the story.
Overall, if it wasn’t for the fact it was so short I would have dnf’ed it.
Pele was just trying to learn about her family roots. She is kidnapped and the next moment she awakens to find herself a prisoner of the minotaur. Taur is the Minotaur King. Pele may be in an unfamiliar situation but that does not mean that she will not show fear. She bites Taur on the hand. This could go two ways...one Pele is k!lled or two Taur is impressed and claims her as his. Pele is lucky that the outcome is the latter.
"I belong to him now, body and broken mind."
Taur is a bit rough and tumble. Yet, I liked this about him. He made no excuses for who he is and what he does. This is why he is the King. Slowly he won Pele over. Although, it did not hurt that every physical interaction between them was a steamy one.
This newest book by J.P. is a really good one. As a fan of minotaur romance reads, this one is one that readers don't want to miss. Taur is your next monster Daddy.
Breeding Season is the latest installment in the Monsters of Darkness shared world.
Be prepared for: ▪️DARK monster romance ▪️Minotaur MMC with all the fancy trimmings ▪️Captor x Captive ▪️Non/Dub ▪️Forced mating ▪️Breeding and Milking
If you are looking for a complicated plot or sweet loving monsters, move along please, but if you are in the mood for a novella that serves up a brutal and bloody Minotaur King who will stop at nothing to keep his throne and his Queen... then you are exactly where you need to be. (Welcome... I live here and love it)
I'm got second hand muscle soreness just reading what Taur and Pele get up to. Things get hot and heavy fast and don't let up the whole way through.
Welcome to Breeding Season!
JP you have once again written something that makes me questions why I love this so much. I thoroughly enjoyed my trip back into the Monsters of Darkness world.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ Is part of the Monsters of Darkness shared World and I’ve loved everything so far.
Whew! What a wild ride. If you need a short super spicy pick me up THIS IS IT. It is very dark so please fully read the TW before starting.
This a far more primal take on Minotaurs than we are used to reading. This herd leans more into their animal side than human.
Pele just wanted a nice vacation to get away and ends up being “taken” to a market where the Minotaur king decides their fate. Her fierce demeanor gets the Kings attention and he claims her as his mate. And he continues to claim her every chance he gets. Taur is BIG bull and damn if I don’t have phantom muscle soreness for Pele. 🤣
Breeding Season has all the reasons we love JP. Spice, gore, savage women, unredeemable men, brutality and violence.
Phwwwwwwoooooooar! I needed that 🙌 Been a smidge of a while since my heart raced in a book, oooooft! That was one spicy little number my girl! I loved it!!!!
Please read your triggers, this author is very transparent about her target audience and if this isnt your type of thing, that's cool, coz us greedy black hearted readers dont like sharing anyway ha ha!
Ok, let's get one thing out of the way. FORCED MATING! Still here? Awesome! This book was amazeballs, I love a good monster romance and this dude was perfect! He doesn’t ask for permission, he TAKES and PROTECTS what is his. He is not soft and fluffy, hes a brutal and primitive beast and my god, does he command your attention in this book! If you love a baddie and knotting is your thing, pleeeeeeeeease read this! I promise you'll love it 😍
This is a dark and hot read not intended for those who long for unicorns and rainbows. Please make sure to read the warnings. I enjoy getting to visit each new world this author creates. Each one is full of interesting characters that possess a strength all their own and this story does not disappoint. I loved seeing the way Pele and Taur connect. Their journey is not an easy one but love is determined to find a way. Pele is thrust into a vicious world that is brutal as well as sensual but she must find a way to survive. I am happy to see that she is strong and not a damsel in distress longs for saving. Pele fights and saves herself. I loved seeing how Taur reacts to Pele and seeing the bond that the two create. There is a good mix of angst and heat. This story quickly grabbed my attention and did not let go until the end.
I love J.P. Sina’s writing because she consistently delivers dark stories without crossing into territory that feels overwhelming or nightmarish. She walks a very fine line, her books are undeniably dark, but there’s always a thread of levity woven through them. It’s a balance I don’t often find when I’m looking for something grittier than my usual reads but not as disturbing as works with graphic, horrifying depictions of assault.
I really enjoyed Breeding Season. The pacing is fast, the heat level is absolutely scorching, and the resolution of Pele and Taur’s story is satisfyingly intense and deliciously gory. It’s exactly the kind of dark, addictive ride I expect from J.P. Sina, and she delivers.
I liked this book, I don’t think it was as dark as the first one in the series I read but it was still plenty f*cked up. Fmc goes on vacation and end up getting dr*ged and kidn*pped. She finds herself as the mate to the King. Things get dicey when he straps her down on a metal br👀ding bench and then get even dicier when he literally has to talk himself down from unaliving her while his 🍆 is literally rearranging her guts. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶️🌶️🌶️
I can’t even put the content warnings in this post so if you want to read this PLEASE READ THE CONTENT WARNING in the beginning of the book! The mmcs in J.P. Sina’s world are the villains and they will take whatever/whoever they want whenever they want it.
barely 3 stars? I was disappointed by this book, it wasn't half as good as cruel devotion which was the author's other book in the same series. This book felt sloppy and rushed, I read it in less than two hours but it didn't really entertain me. There was nouns and new customs thrown in that weren't really elaborated on, we still don't know why the heroine was on the island and how she got to another realm? We don't even know the heroine's hair and eye color. What happened to the other concubine? And the smut wasn't even well written, and there was zero development of their relationship, it was super disjointed. This is prob the worst book I'd read from the author, the other two were entertaining at least. I don't think I'll read another book from this author again.
Breeding Season is book three of the Monsters of Darkness Series.
This is one spicy, spicy read, and some of it non-con. There are a few dark and disturbing moments in this story. We have a group of minotaur that use women for desire or food. So let's just say not all is peachy here. However, we focus more on Pele and Taur developing their bond together. There is a lot of drama and conflict between the two. Others who don't want them to be together and then they didn't start off on the right foot and there is a lot of turmoil between themselves. If you're looking for a taboo, smutty read, this one is for you.
This short read is only about 100pages but it definitely doesn't miss out on the details. Some minotaur on minotaur gore, definitely not the cozy romance type. Please check the trigger warnings and get ready for this dark spicy treat.
Pele is kidnapped and transported to a cage full of other humans. The last thing she remembered was trying to leave the dollar bar after it felt like her world was spinning. As she watches Taur pick label the humans for meat or breeding, he decides to claim her. Will she be able to escape or will she be broken down mind and body? In the end will she even want to escape?
