Not long after Arata enrolls at Royal Biblia Academy to become a magus do rumors begin to circulate about him being a "Demon Lord candidate." But with these rumors come gorgeous female mages...and one of them calls herself the future bride of the Demon Lord! With help from his friends, Arata continues his journey down the treacherous path of magic in this romantic comedy and sometimes-serious wizard school story!
After an unexpected magical moment, it looks like Arata has some serious magical skills after all, and we see him and his ladies having some seaside shenanigans. Later, another unexpected occurrence sends them down to the school’s dungeons to find some dangerous enemies. A- (91%/Excellent)
Excellent. A really great read. Not worthy of the parental warning though.
Yes there's violence, but it's not graphic. Yes there's mature dialogue, but not adult-only level. Yes there's nudity, but it's mostly implied, as all the chest & crotch reveals are always covered by mist, magic, or a scrap of clothing. So really, this series should be rated OT at most, with no parental warning. That is, unless things go south in future volumes. So far though, it's pretty tame. Overall I'm really enjoying this series. I'm taking it slowly though, as I already spend $350+ a month on manga, mostly digital, and I hesitate to plunk down an additional $150 or so for such a long series. I'll probably read another 2 - 4 volumes before I fully commit. That's just how I roll. As is, I've got 5 other series I'm just starting, & atm have about 60 unread manga in the Kindle app. Art, very good. All the girls are gorgeous, so that's always nice. Dialogue, silly at times, serious at others, all in all enjoyable. Characters, interesting, intriguing, exciting, fascinating, and a few, adorable.
The perversion in this volume is probably as bad and juvenile as the previous volume, but it didn’t bother me as much. It’s also a bit hard to really understand what’s going on. It feels like there’s an entire series that preceded this one that explains everything. (Am I missing a culture-and-genre that would help make sense?) I’ll give the third volume a try (because I already bought it—sucker for a ComiXology sale), but I don’t think I’ll be buying or reading any others.
2nd book is okay. The main character unlocks his magic and meets more of the Trinity Seven Mages. Still developing the story, nothing major happens just light humor.
There is a little story here -- something about a breakdown phenomenon, which keeps happening. The protagonist is able to defeat it, but in the process, everyone loses their clothes. Fortunately, the images are fuzzy, so you can't see everything. The author is clearly on the road to a literary classic.
