Something in the Forest isn’t just a dark fantasy—it’s a quiet haunting. Georgia Kane writes with the precision of a poet and the patience of someone who’s stood in the dark long enough to hear it breathe.

The novel blurs myth and memory until you’re no longer sure whether the forest is a place, a hunger, or a mirror. Kane’s prose is lush but surgical—each sentence a pulse between dread and desire. The pacing feels cinematic: slow embers at first, then a full-body wildfire of revelation.

What makes Something in the Forest unforgettable isn’t the terror—it’s the tenderness threaded through it. Beneath the moss and shadows lives a story about grief, love, and the parts of ourselves we leave behind to survive.

Fans of Crescent City, The Atlas Six, or The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue will find something rare here: fantasy that feels intimate, dangerous, and achingly human.

Georgia Kane doesn’t just tell a story—she opens a door, and once you step inside, the forest remembers you.

Fantastic fantasy with a sprinkling of sci-fi. Secrets around every corner that you’ll never see coming (in the good way). Rich world building with believable characters, spice, violence, and no place to get too comfortable because it all happens at a breakneck speed (in the good way).

I really enjoyed this! Just when you think you understand where the story is going, it changes. A great mix of genres. Loved the avalanche of reveals toward the end. Such a great way to open up the story. Can’t wait for book 2!

A new and entertaining fantasy novel! I love the strong, no-nonsense female protagonist, and the slow-burn/forbidden romance. So many twists and surprises at the end! I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book!!

This one was a bit different from my usual reads, but I was absolutely blown away by how good it was. It didn't read like a debut novel at all - the writing style is so immersive and captivating, and throughout the book, there were several twist I did NOT see coming which kept me wanting to read more.

I would say the genre reads like royal fantasy or fantasy romance, but there's also a bit of sci-fi mixed in that makes things even more interesting. From the beginning, I had a bit of a love-hate relationship with most of the characters (except for Dominique, I loved her instantly). I wasn't sure how to feel about Indigo at first because some of her opinions and actions got on my nerves lol but as we learned more about her backstory and motives throughout the book, I slowly started to love her. The chemistry and sexual tension between her and Caius was off the charts, I love a slow-burn but with this book even I muttered multiple times "just make out already". Every character in this book is complex and multidimensional, and their secrets and backgrounds are slowly revealed throughout the book.

Perfect for readers who like different genres and themes combined, because this book has a bit of everything - political themes, unique fantasy/sci-fi worldbuilding, supernatural mystery, character tension, and hidden motives and plottwists. I can't wait for book 2!

Absolutely devoured this

Something in the Forest is one of those books that lures you in quietly… and then sinks its claws in before you realize what’s happening.

The opening is a slow burn in the best way—steady world-building, political tension, and a cast of characters you think you’re getting to know. (Pro tip: don’t get attached.) Once the foundation is laid, though? The story tilts, the stakes sharpen, and suddenly you’re racing through chapters like the pages might catch fire.

Indigo is a standout heroine: morally gray, fiercely intelligent, and determined to burn an empire from the inside out. She’s the kind of character who makes you root for her even when you know she’s making a deal with the darkness. And the “hero”—if the man even qualifies—doesn’t appear for quite a while. But when he does? The dynamic between him and Indigo crackles. Distrust. Temptation. Tension threaded with danger. Chef’s kiss.

The final quarter feels like a runaway train—fast, sharp, and impossible to look away from. By the time I hit the last page, I was already checking when book two comes out because I need answers. And more Indigo. And definitely more of him.

Slow-burn romantasy, political intrigue, forbidden desire, and secrets buried in the forest… Georgia Kane knocked this one out of the park.

Already desperate for the sequel.
