Infuriating Female Lead

Infuriating Female Lead. I finished the book for Tristan. The plot could have been better. Reading Simone was truly painful.

After her father’s death, Simone is left with a massive empire and surrounded by men desperate for power. When Tristan steps in and claims her as his wife, what begins as a power play quickly turns into a battle of wills and passion. And once they finally stop resisting each other…BAM. Fireworks!

“I’d rather spend the rest of my life fighting with you than being bored with anyone else.”

Simone was fiery from start to finish. I loved her backbone, her determination, and the way she held onto her self-respect even when control seemed to slip through her fingers. Did I still want to shake her when she let her body betray her or surrendered to Tristan’s toxicity? Absolutely. But let’s be real, this was Tristan. Girly tried her best. What I admired most was how she fought tooth and nail to be his equal, never content to just stand behind her husband. Her strength and resilience made her the perfect match for him.

Tristian…oh he was a tricky one for me. Yes he was charming and meant well, I appreciated his strength for fidelity in marriage too, but I usually prefer some of M James’s “kinder” MMCs, and the whole force-her-into-submission vibe was a little much at times. I kept wanting to yell at Tristan to back off for one second and just give them a chance. His inner voice often echoed my own thoughts, so watching him defy his better judgment in favour of toxic patterns from his upbringing was frustrating. But he did win me over in the end, especially once he became more level headed and stopped letting his pride drive every move. His heart was in the right place, even if it took him a while to get there.

The spice was excellent once their feelings were laid bare. The fight for control in the bedroom was HAWT, especially when Simone flipped the script and left Tristan a little unsteady. Let's just say Simone wasn't the only one clenching IYKYK. Their quieter moments of surrender when they let down their walls and were simply real with each other were few but powerful, and those were my favourites.

“Her place was never on her knees on in the shadows—it’s always been by my side. Next to me, not behind me.”

And the epilogue. Huge shoutout to M James for giving us such a heartfelt and satisfying extended ending. Seeing them finally come together as a family, fully in love and deserving of the happily ever after they fought for (and at times fought each other for haha) was perfect. Bloody Vows kept me hooked from start to finish. Between Tristan’s ruthlessness, Simone’s fire, and the constant battle for power and control, there was never a dull moment.

This book was extraordinarily great. Simone and Tristan always kept me guessing if they would get it together.

Furious that she is pushed into an arranged marriage to the arrogant Irish Mafia son, Tristan OMalley, Mafia daughter Simone Russo plans to make his life so hard.

I loved the push pull of the relationship. Simone was a whiny brat who couldn't get out of her own way to accept that was just the way things were in the Mafia world. Tristan certainly didn't ingratiate himself to her at first but he didn't know much better.

But of these two had the chemistry and once she starts to accept what he is offering, she finds she really likes it. That spark sure shows.

So well done, i enjoyed all the drama and the clashes with their enemies. And the fight they had to work through to realise what they meant to each other was grand. Even the happy ending got me smiling.

Very well done on all levels. This author always surprises me and this book did as well. Such a fantastic read!!

Stubborn, obsessive, passionate, demanding, arrogant, prideful, protective, sizzling hot…

Simone and Tristan are both hot-headed, stubborn individuals that just need to be hit upside the head! They both need to learn to let go of what they know - but neither will!

This one has a lot of inward dialogue/reflection but it doesn't take away from the story. There's conflict, bad guys, spice, a little torture and lots of temper.

Not my favorite of M. James books but it was still great. I think I just didn’t like Simone, she acted like a spoiled princess instead of the strong mafia woman we love. Although… she does come out to play - eventually.

They spend too much time fighting each other rather than fighting outside people has a couple.

This is really dub-con, even if the author uses all the inner monologues to assure the MC are "into it"!!
They are always arguing it always ends up in s*x and at the 60% mark stars to feel repetitive, same problem, not communicating, arguing, s*x, again problem because the H uses sex has a punishment, the h resents the H for forcing her and it goes again...

The h is the template mafia Princess, useless and was really annoying at times...

The H doesn't cheats, and is very protective of the h.

A dark & steamy Mafia romance.
Real enemies to lovers story, mafia Princess Simone is forced into an arranged marriage with Irish mafia heir Tristan O Malley, following the death of her father having been his only surviving child.
They are both feisty & Simone is angry that she has lost her family empire, home & legacy to her new husband that she despises. There is no love lost & Simone is looking for an escape & way out from her loveless controlled marriage.
When that opportunity arises is she stepping out of the frying pan into the fire with no one to save her.

They need to quit being so stubborn.

M. James is one of my favorite authors. She is amazing. This books will keep you hooked to the very end. Main characters are great, stubborn, willful, proud and argumentative. Simone is giving a choice, marrying or face the consequences. Trista, a second son, just a body if his older brother dies. This book is awesome. I am sure you will enjoy it as much as I did.

Tristan O'Mallery married Simone for her dead father's empire. She was so angry that every man decides her life. She is rebellious and doesn't care what people expect of her. She would fight with her husband about everything. He did not understand; instead of commanding her, Tristan could have just asked her. She was taught to be wallpaper and nothing else. She did not get close to him; instead, she kept him at a distance.

I love M James... I think he or she is a great author but I've noticed that she writes the most annoying FMC's ever!!!!! 60% of the book was fighting... at least make it 40% it becomes annoying...I almost dnfed the book its 12am and only finished it cause of Tristan and loyalty to this author... M James needs to re think how she portrays women on her books cause they are super annoying...to the point of making me stop reading the book

This was a really great story. I’m a little disappointed that the female character was so bitchy. She grew up in that world and knew what was going to happen. She never tried till towards the end to compromise with Tristan. Also, how did Sol know she was pregnant unless he had an inside mole?
